1141  Economy / Economics / Re: Eu Cina vs USA russia oil vs Green energy on: February 22, 2023, 11:49:29 PM
China do have lots of oil too though, seems like your version of events is just a China win regardless.

It would makes sense, I think. The Chinese government is rather in a comfortable position when comes to energy, they have some energy reserves, but also have Russia as ally which guarantee China a good supply of fuels in the long term, specially now that Russia needs to sell their energy to anyone they can. On the other hand, China also has much potential to move onto green energy if they wanted to, they have rare earths and they are already getting into the market of electrical vehicles.

But it is most plausible they stick to regular fuels in the long term, unlike Europe.

This is one reason why China isn't only mad about the war I suppose. They don't want a nuclear war, that is for sure, but if this war weakens other countries and even Russia, that helps China to get into an even better position for negotiations. The more isolated Russia gets in the global economy, the cheaper can China get energy from Russia. The incentives all those different countries have are so complex especially in situations of war that it sometimes is hard to understand who wants what the most. In this case though I think China is already planning with sufficient resources from Russia.

A very well composed Multi should be destroyed at the hands of Manchester City. They didn't do well in this second half.
What's funnier is when their game doesn't improve but Pep still maintains his starting composition and doesn't make any improvements there. I think even though the second leg will be at the Etihad later, this draw clearly makes them actually not well.

I did a multi bet today too and I included a double chance for City - I knew they were a shady team and they could fail away because they are confident that they will be able to decide the issue in their favor at home. And by the way, I also bet on Inter, I think you have to admit that Inter went over the edge today and their victory is like luck. In general, Inter disappointed me more than City.
Manchester City are found of doing this they always destroy your prediction when you have full confidence in them but i knew this, after the great i enquire at their Saturday 1-1 draw against Nottingham forest so i had to played them to win either of the halves which they did in the first half.  Mahrez scored in the first half and rescued my ticket but was a little shocked at how Manchester city failed to score another. But like you said its going to be a definite done when playing at home at the etihad stadium.

Why were you so sure that they would win that game when they are not playing at home? I agree that they were the favorite in this game, but I wouldn't have been too confident. I remember that I think two years ago or so Leipzig has already beaten Manchester City once. When Leipzig plays their best I think they should at least be taken seriously in home games. I still believe that Manchester City will advance to the next round now, but saying this was an obvious win for Manchester City seems to be overly confident.
1143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What If There Is A Ban on: February 22, 2023, 10:56:18 PM
We all agree we're living in a crazy world and what's far worse is that it is managed by a bunch of clowns..
So, let's think wildly, one day US were to further increase the censorship just like some of the other countries in the world, they ban bitcoin, they ban VPN, they pass legislation for those who mine/trade/spend btc will be sent to jail.
(Let's not say it's not going to happen. It can! You never know just like you would never have known that there's a war in 2022.)

Other countries start to follow.

Where will you be and what kind of life will it be and how is it going to impact yours?
Although the odds of that happening are pretty low, but as you said, that could happen knowing that central authorities don't really like seeing things that they can't have control over. But, as we already know that there are some big countries that have already started openly supporting Bitcoin and blockchain technology, so that's a positive which makes us believe that it will at least stay.

For me, I wouldn't really be affected that much even if Bitcoin is totally made unreachable for me. My principles don't allow me to invest everything that I have or that I earn into one single asset or investment plan. So even if one of my investments fail, I will still do pretty good.

Just a thought experiment: assuming that major economies around the world start banning Bitcoin and they also try to get as many other countries involved as possible. The reason being that all of them don't things they can't have control over. Wouldn't at least one decently sized economy have a huge incentive to become the new major hub for the entire industry? Exchanges, mining facilities, all kinds of service and app providers related to crypto, business headquarters, foundations, you name it. Now when that happens, isn't that a way to actually get control over Bitcoin? I know it is not possible to fully control it in the sense that you can freeze non-custodial wallets, but if the whole industry is essentially based in a handful of countries, I think that would give those countries a lot of control and benefits like tax revenue, workplaces, fintech innovation, and many other things. People from other countries could still buy and hold Bitcoin via non-custodial wallets and offline exchanges or decentralized exchanges.

Hosting an industry, owning part of it perhaps and closely collaborating with major representatives of that industry is the best way to have some control over it when otherwise you hardly can have any. I am sure that there would be some countries that wholeheartedly would welcome the crypto fintech industry. You acquire so much knowledge in key research fields like cryptography, computer science and programming in general. The country would be the hotspot for the next generation programmers to go to.

These are just my two cents and I do think that countries have a serious incentive to not ban Bitcoin. That is the magic of Bitcoin.
1144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin adoption growing stronger everyday on: February 22, 2023, 10:17:22 PM
Bitcoin's adoption is like a disease that spreads quickly and if there will be some bodies(authorities) to stop it, they barely make it.

Before, bitcoin was introduced as a peer to peer payment but right now, we mostly see people adopt bitcoin not only for the usage of being a payment method but mainly as an investment, as an asset.

And that's not wrong, because its utilities can be seen and we can't deny that either or the two, it really is.
You are right, the main purpose while Bitcoin is been valuable in the society today it's because is an asset, many people who comes into Bitcoin today it's because of having more profit via their investment, in last five years people who values Bitcoin now have not had the interest of Bitcoin, so therefore it's obvious that the more the year are coming, the more massive adoption of Bitcoin, so i believe that Bitcoin have continuous adoption, because the advertisement of Bitcoin has gotten to the grassroots, so the adoption will be adding instead of reducing.
We do believe that majority of people who do dive in into crypto not because of its usecase but rather into its profit making opportunity which is something that a very common approach.Speaking about
recognition and adoption then its not really that going slowly on where we have seen several countries had already made it as a legal tender and there are places which they do make it regulated
which means that recognition is still really on the move.It is really just that we cant just hurry up if we do speak about adoption because not all corners of the world
does like Bitcoin or crypto as a whole.

I agree that the majority of people get into crypto because of speculation and investment reasons. But that isn't bad per se. It is just how they get involved and familiarize themselves with cryptocurrencies while playing around with it and getting to learn the market dynamics as they pay closer attention when they own some Bitcoin. In a second step though they also get to find out about Bitcoin's utility and how it makes sense to use it in some situations. That was the case for me as well. Own it at first because I saw the potential for it to rise in price as I was sure that many people will at least slightly get the idea that a decentralized currency has good reasons to exist and spread globally. But once you own it and you travel for example, you quickly find out that it can be practical besides any speculative reasons.
1145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin adoption growing stronger everyday on: February 21, 2023, 10:41:10 PM
Switzerland is one of the countries in the world that acknowledge the potential of Bitcoin and also support it

Yeah Switzerland is one of the most crypto-friendly countries in the world[1] and even called as Crypto Valley with numerous big crypto startups. However unlike El Salvador, I think Switzerland doesn't consider crypto as a legal tender yet[2]. Though, the government demands its people to report any crypto transactions they made and get taxed.

At some point, it's good to see that we can use our bitcoin in any city of Switzerland, that it could boost mass adoption. But, in the other side, I personally think bitcoin loses its essential purpose that make its user to get rid of any taxes, banks, and anything related to governments. Well at least it might make people life easier and more comfortable.

[2] https://www.globallegalinsights.com/practice-areas/blockchain-laws-and-regulations/switzerland

There is a lot going on in Switzerland and ever since a delegation of Ethereum decided for Zug to become the place where they registered their foundation, Zug did a lot to attract more and more crypto businesses in order to build and expand the blockchain ecosystem. There are further plans to become even more crypto friendly and Alberto Diaz said in an interview that Crypto Valley is a “focused ecosystem that focuses on blockchain technologies" and "one of the world’s leading, densest clusters of blockchain and crypto companies".

A Coindesk article states that Lugano has serious plans to make Bitcoin and Tether legal tender. That's an interesting read and in this article it says that Lugano claims to become the cryptocurrency capital of Europe. They are also planning on introducing their own token.

We will find out where those plans of Lugano are going, but the fact that those considerations are being made shows that the Swiss government allows for the infrastructure to be built and that they are a crypto friendly place for sure. But it isn't surprising that Switzerland welcomes an industry that is about financial technology and innovation.
1146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What If There Is A Ban on: February 21, 2023, 10:02:02 PM
I mean this topic has been brought up hundrets of times already.

So let me just say this: It's gonna be a constant back-and-forth -> legislation to increase control and cencorship vs innovation to protect privacy and freedom.
Subtle attempts to control crypto and Bitcoin specifically will be more efficient and are more scary than direct bans - because these things can happen unnoticed to the majority of Bitcoin users, which is far more scary than direct attacks (which would probably have an opposite effect because there would be a lot of resistence in freedom based societies).

On top of that it never happened that all countries around the world agreed on something and even if they officially do, most of them won't stick to it as the incentive is too big to resist. If the entire crypto industry gets banned in the US I am sure it won't take long until some other state will announce the most welcoming legislation and regulation, incentivizing an innovative industry to just completely move to another country.

No matter how hypothetical or even realistic OP's idea might be, we will never ever see a situation where there is no place to go for the industry.
1147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gary Gensler's SEC sues Crypto Influncers and posts on his Twitter as propaganda on: February 21, 2023, 09:47:53 PM
I agree that this is a good thing to do. This isn't some "be aware" story or scary thing, this isn't some witch hunt, these people promoted some shit stuff for money, making others lose, just so they could profit, and that is illegal.

You can't do that with gold, you can't do that with stocks, so you shouldn't be able to do it because it would cause others to lose so much money and not only unethical but it is against the law at the same time. On the other hand, if you come out and say "this project paid me to promote it" and then do it, that's fine, just like having an "advertisement" logo somewhere or something, allows people to see you got paid for it, otherwise what's the point.

I haven't been following any action taken by the SEC ever and I don't know whether they disclosed more cases than just the one about Kardashian because that puts them in a better light?

There are so many influencers or celebrities promoting scam tokens that the SEC could actually be posting several reports every day about that. I really think that this Kardashian thing was something they couldn't ignore because of the public awareness.

Yet everyday rappers or boxers or people like Logan Paul pull of their scams or promote scam stuff and we don't get to read anything about it. Any other cases where celebrities have been sued or got a penalty by the SEC?

I actually think there might be a surprising result in the Frankfurt vs Napoli match. I mean Frankfurt might manage to get a surprising win in Germany and make some difficulties for Napoli. Because I think this kind of teams are not ones that should be underestimated. We all watched what Villarreal did in the previous season. They eliminated much bigger teams like Bayern Munich and Juventus here. Who knows maybe Franfurt can also do the unexpected from them.

Napoli have been a very solid run indeed. They will be surely motivated for this match. But this arena is much more difficult than the Serie A so they should be extra careful.

I think the same way. The reason Frankfurt is not really that much behind in terms of their chances to make it to the next round is how they performed in the Europa League last season. Round after round everyone thought that they wouldn't make it, but they did it again and again. Napoli is insane this season in Serie A, but you still have to beat Frankfurt first before you can claim anything.

With the experience that Frankfurt also has in international competitions, I think Frankfurt is on par with Napoli in their home game. In Italy I think that Napoli will beat Frankfurt. Now let's see and enjoy how this is going to play out.
1149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: February 21, 2023, 08:01:46 PM
Nantes vs. Juventus will be rough for Juventus I think. Nantes must be unbelievably motivated to brighten the final result of their season. If they make it against Juventus it is already a huge success for them. They are also still in the Coup de France and they are relatively safe from relegation in Ligue 1. The draw in Italy is now one big step to a great success story for them. I expect a strong fight from them.

In the first leg, I predicted Juventus to win. And I bet Juventus to win. But Juventus could not win the match. The match was drawn 1-1. However, Juventus' performance was not weak. They can't beat Nantes at home, can they do it in away matches? It will be difficult for Juventus to beat the Nantes team. Nantes' defense is very strong. If Nantes can score first in this match, Juventus' chances of winning are slim. Even then I expect Juventus to win the second leg and qualify for the next round. Because they have no chance of winning the Serie A title. Now their only target is the Europa League.

Juventus performance wasn't weak, of course not and it was a home game. But this is the portion of luck when you are the outsider and can secure a draw. Nantes would have never asked for a win before the game started and they would certainly taken a draw right away. Now they have all the chances they could wish for before the two matches against Juventus started. I actually would like to see a team like Nantes to make it against such a huge favorite. That's what soccer is about right.
1150  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin inflation wilder than fiat? on: February 20, 2023, 11:59:29 PM
In my opinion, bitcoin inflation is higher than fiat but bitcoin is decentralized so it doesn't have as impact as fiat currencies. It is possible to prevent inflation by investing in bitcoin while fiat money is significantly more useful for a stable economy, countries often prefer to have a stable market rather than an advanced but highly uncertain currency.
Honestly I could not get what is bitcoin inflation. Inflation is a common thing and it does not be differentiated like fiat inflation and bitcoin inflation because inflation is basically a scenario of declining in buying power of people. In other words, people are not interested in spending more money for same product which is priced higher due to less supply or war like reasons.

Inflation is leading fiats to devalue. Inflation will happen everywhere over the time like same orange will cost more in next 2 years due to higher costs for cultivating it. Unlike fiats, 1 bitcoin is not valuing same in next 4 years hence devaluing of bitcoin is not happening over the time. So, bitcoin is protected against inflation by design concepts and adapting bitcoin will help us to fight against higher costs happening due to inflation.

OP has confused some terms here which has been outlined before already. Generally speaking, you are right that inflation is related to a decline in purchasing power if increases in salary levels are not sufficiently offsetting that loss.

Though inflation is also related to expected inflation vs. unexpected inflation and how they play out in behavioral economics. Now when you talk about the speculative aspect of Bitcoin then we are actually discussing volatility whereas the expected inflation in terms of the number of units getting into circulation is known and fixed. Since we still convert Bitcoin in USD and then compare prices of goods and services, the difference between Bitcoin inflation and fiat inflation is still not that obvious. But one thing is for sure in the long run: Fiat USD has no upper bound in terms of the money supply (M1, M2 and M3), but Bitcoin definitely has. That will have an effect at some point and those are into Bitcoin expect that this will attract more people to become Bitcoin owners.
1151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: February 20, 2023, 11:47:26 PM
Barcelona did well yesterday they score two goals even if cadiz made it hard for barcelona for over the first half
They have a chance against United if they are ready
Man United also won well yesterday I don't know still Barcelona will have a good chance to qualify
The two teams are still equally good lately and it will still be very difficult to determine which team opportunities will meet the requirements to advance to the next round. Because this time Barcelona will be the guest team at Old Trafford and in the second leg of course the enthusiasm and motivation of Manchester United to win at home is also very large so that the match will still be fierce like the first leg and can even be more exciting than the first leg.
Also so far in the premier league Manchester United when playing at home is very strong, Barcelona might struggle at there. Yes the second leg will sure be more exciting, considering that the Europa League trophy is very important for both of them at this time. By the way, I expected that in the second leg Juventus will win with a big score against Nantes, because in my opinion Nantes is not such a tough team. Previously, I was very disappointed that Juventus could only draw in the first leg.
Manchester united are usually tough when playing at home , it won't be easy with Barcelona.  If Barcelona are able to play a draw game with Manchester United that means they have tried as a team to equalize the game. Manchester United are getting more aggressive in every match they play.
Man utd's home form is really good this season especially lately, and Barcelona will need to beat them to qualify for the next round, and to be honest, i don't think they can, i already said before they played that if Manchester United managed to get a draw at least, it's done and they will advance for the next round, Rashford is on fire, i don't think Barcelona can handle him.

Manchester United has lost only one game out of eleven home games so far. Since Barcelona has to win it it's either through luck in a penalty shootout or they need a pretty good day to take this away from United.

1152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 20, 2023, 11:40:24 PM
There is a really good race among a few teams for finishing the season in top four. I think Inter will definitely be one of the members in this area together with Napoli. When it comes to the last two members I'm going with Roma and Milan. Roma are already doing a good job now and this season is a big opportunity for them to benefit from with this general performance level.

When it comes to Milan their recent performance has been quite inconsistent. This has just caused them to lose some positions in the standings as well. But I still hope to see them recovering and consolidating their presence in top four.

Yes, actually Milan is performing very well recently, and they could win games the SeriaA against many teams but I don't think they are even near to Nalopi because they need Napoli to lose some points while Napoli currently has 62 points and Inter Milan just got 47 points so far which can be hard for Inter to decrease the points they need, Also if Simone Inzaghi and his players don't use the chance and lost some points they have they have Roma and Ac Milan fight for hight positions on the table.
Napoli is showing no sign of slowing down. UEFA recently wrote on its social media platform that  Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen is the most dangerous striking partnership in Europe currently. These two strikers will not stop scoring goals this season. The points gap in between is also wide so it might be difficult for any team to catch up with Napoli. Napoli has to lose up to five matches, while Inter will win most of its matches for them to overthrow Napoli at the top, which is very unlikely. I have concluded that this season belongs to Napoli.

There isn't actually anything on the horizon that could realistically stop them from winning. As we know there are injuries which could bring that incredible run to an end, but that would need a lot of bad luck to get so many injuries that they have a significant loss in performance. Motivation and fatigue just doesn't apply to them this season. Even if they lose a game or two, I would be totally baffled if they don't win like three or four games in a row. If that is the case the other teams would still have to win their games and Milan, Roma and Inter will also tie a game here and there at the very least.
1153  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic implications of a US-China-Taiwan conflict on: February 20, 2023, 10:57:33 PM

In fact, there are many opportunities for development in the modern world, there are many scenarios for avoiding confrontation with other countries.

China, for example, is very aggressively developing Africa.  However, he is not fighting in Africa.  China uses the policy of "soft power".  Chinese companies lend to local companies at high interest rates.  For non-payment of debts, the Chinese take shares of key African companies.

In today's world, war is a very bad way to solve economic problems.

I love watching the Chinese feature film "Battle of the Red Rock" very much.  The Chinese in the army, in addition to military leaders, had the position of Strategist.

The Chinese Strategist was engaged in the development of various military techniques that helped to achieve victory over the enemy.

Since ancient times, the Chinese have been accustomed to achieve success with cunning, not just brute force.

Just two simple questions, clarifications Smiley
1. Comparing territorial integrity is correct. And within the framework of this concept, the fact that for some short time Ukraine and Taiwan were part of other entities does not give any right to these entities to consider these territories as their own. Therefore, China is trying to be "good" on both sides, but on the other hand, it is promoting the narrative "Taiwan is the territory of the PRC", which is not true. And I will repeat again. For China, Taiwan is an opportunity to "kill two birds with one stone." Show your "greatness" and get something without which the Chinese economy will slide back 40 years, and turn into a manufacturer of cheap, low-quality consumer goods. These are technologies. The US is now withdrawing technology from China, and is limiting the ability to teach modern technology in the future. And Taiwan is the world leader in the production of microchips. The microprocessor market itself is actually in the hands of Taiwan. Do you think China will recognize the sovereignty and independence of Taiwan? Smiley

2. China's plan, very "thin". It must be understood that the loss of Russia, for China, is a very bad "bell", and now the situation is heading towards this. That is why China will try to "stop the war" by saving Russia, saving it from losing and collapsing, as was the case with the USSR. But the world is well aware that the war against terrorists cannot be stopped, it can either be won or lost. Therefore, the Chinese proposal will certainly be listened to, but there will be no result. Although Russia will hysteria and demand a "decision from China", and will even promise to fulfill it. But the whole world already knows - a word or a promise from Russia is worth nothing, it's an empty phrase ....

These are all very good and comprehensible points and the contradiction of China's behavior remains when they are threatening with war against Taiwan as I explained here. The speed at which they are buying up and building new infrastructure al around the world is astonishing, but a clear indicator that it is indeed aiming at increasing their soft power around the globe. This is why an attack at this point in time would make no sense. However, if they have increased their soft power due to a dominant control of global economic infrastructure, they are also more immune against sanctions.

I don't know what Xi Jinpings plans are and whether he thinks he is going to live and reign for another 30 years, but I do believe that guys like him do not only want to go down into the books of history as someone who build his country into an economic superpower. All this military spending is a sign to me that he is dreaming of pulling the trigger one day against Taiwan.

I am wondering about something else when we talk about the dominant role of Taiwan in the microchip market. I know that it is the case now, but doesn't China basically have the resources to build a competitive microchip industry? They have been reverse engineering for decades now. Why wouldn't they be able to copy large scale microchip manufacturers? I haven't been digging into this yet in detail, but as far as I know China owns the base resources for that technology or am I wrong here?

If I understand this article correctly, the US and its allies can only slow down China in the competition for the best and fastest semiconductor manufacturers (and China is way behind), but it is a question of time until China can catch up. The base resources they need are also available in Russia. There we are again that China perhaps want to import rare earth metals and Russia in exchange secures contracts for long-term deliveries of semi-conductor technology.

Damn, the world is complex... but discussions like these help understanding it a little better step by step.
1154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: February 20, 2023, 10:24:42 PM
I would have to have another look at the games from back then, but I think in the season 2014/2015 they had even more clean sheets in total. If I understand you correctly, you just mean out of the 22 matches played so far right? I just know that 14/15 was amazing as well as they started 22:0 goals out of 8 games. Lewandowski had a head start with scoring goals and he is still doing great but he slowed a bit down.
We don't know why Lewandowski has worse form than in early of season for Barcelona. Probably because of World Cup 2022 effects and he was more tired after that so he could not play as good as they did previous months. Though Barcelona are still playing well and dominating La Liga, clubs there likely watched videos and knew how to stop Lewandowski. When opponents defend better, Lewandowski will have less chances and score less goals.

Quote
Now we can be looking forward towards the game between Manchester United and Barcelona. Both are well prepared and will go into the match with high motivation.

The defense of Barcelona can still make the difference, but playing against Manchester United is quite different from playing against Cadiz of course.
Their defense system are like a bunker in La Liga but in a first leg match with Manchester United, they got two conceded goals. After 22 matches in La Liga, they got only 7 conceded goals but only a single match with United, they got two.

Their defense will be important for a next match in Europa League because with Bruno Fernandez and Marcus Rashford on fire, United can find Barcelona nets again.

Manchester United is a different beast. In La Liga they now feel comfortable and other teams know that it is difficult to score against them. That makes it harder for other teams to play confident against Barcelona.

Lewandowski is also among the top scorers when it comes to preparing goals. His overall statistics are awesome, but I just noticed that it declined a bit compared to the first months.

I am excited for the next el clasicos in Copa del Rey, those will all be great games. It is even more fun to see them play the final against each other because when they kick one out in the semi final it's almost certain who is going to win the final.

Barcelona's win was expected considering their latest results, but what caught my attention is the new record Barcelona has achieved, which is that they managed to get a cleansheet for 17 matches out of the 22 matches they played this season, passing Deportivo's record with 16 matches. This achievement shows the improvement in the defensive line Xavi was making. Barcelona used to receive a lot of goals before the arrival of Xavi. However, I still see some weakness in the offensive side, but I can excuse Xavi as most strikers are still young, and he tries to build a team for the future, so with some patience, this team could restore Barcelona's glory.

I would have to have another look at the games from back then, but I think in the season 2014/2015 they had even more clean sheets in total. 1156  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it true that this AI is good for trading? on: February 19, 2023, 11:41:08 PM
Trading is another story and a huge task that an AI can make which is actually out of its design as Chat Bot. I'd never use chatGPT personally but one of my friends tells me how good it is when comes to chat messages, answering questions, and word compositions. It is really amazing to think huh, but I might think that it was really intended for that area, not on trading or in general works. Maybe in the future, the developers will make that programs but still, I'm not sure how good it was when it comes to decisions like normal people can do.
As a trader, I feel y'all might be doubtful about employing AI for trading decisions. But let me tell ya, AI can be a mightly tool to help traders make some brilliant decisions. Even though AI ain't got no emotions or gut feelings like us, it can scrutinize data much quickr and more accurately than we can. AI has the knack to detect patterns and trends that might be slipery for a human trader to catch. But heres the deal, AI is just a tool, not a replacment for human wisdom. We still need to have our heads wrapped around the markets and an astute trading strateggy in place. AI can be a valuable accomplice for making better-informed decisions, but we can't rely on it completley. My personal experience dictats that fuzing AI with human analysis and intution can lead to grandiose trading outcoms. For instance, I use an AI-powered trading platform that gives me real-time market data and analytics, which I then merge into my trading decisions.

But I highly doubt that that does also count for the average trader who gets some software on the free market for a few hundred bucks. The first bots that have been coded for crypto markets might have been successful, but I think by now you are mostly competing with highly developed software from financially strong companies. That is surely the case if you trade on the big registered crypto exchanges.

I have been around for quite some time and it did surprise me often times when people told me they bought some trading software from some random dude on the forum. It usually doesn't work as nobody would give away a software that is almost guaranteed to make some money. Now that the markets got so huge it is full of big businesses who are able to hire the best coders, or probably you are already competing with bots from Google and Facebook who have all the data in the world to build AI-based trading software.

This is why I think that it's wrong to say that "a trader", like anyone who is a trader could make use of it and benefit from it. For most people I am convinced that long-term investment strategies, or let's say longer term investment strategies are the better choice.
1157  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic implications of a US-China-Taiwan conflict on: February 19, 2023, 11:24:56 PM
I find it hard to assess whether time is running in favor of China or not. In the end China is highly dependent on a well functioning global economy, but if every country is now investing heavily in military equipment and defense, there is less money to be spent on Chinese products as well.

Today at the security conference in Munich China emphasized that territorial integrity is to be respected by everyone in the world, but that was also implying that Taiwan actually is a part of China and they would only take back what belongs to them anyway. They will now also start a peace initiative regarding Russia and Ukraine, but they haven't really specified what that is going to look like. It didn't sound very convincing and the US made clear that they have their doubts. As far as I know it was quite a heated debate between Chinese representatives and US representatives.

China needs the world's support to help sustain its economy. Otherwise, it will be the end of its "empire" for good. For what I know, this could all be drama between the world's biggest superpowers (China and the US). It's not about words, but rather the actions they take in real life. And so far, there's no indication there will be a conflict between the two countries over Taiwan anytime soon.

Depending on how the Russo-Ukraine war ends, China will decide whenever to proceed with its ambitions of invading Taiwan or leave everything as is. For the sake of the entire planet, it's best for China to remain in peace with both Taiwan and the US. Otherwise, WW3 will go full speed ahead. No one can predict the future, so we can only hope for the best. Just my opinion Smiley

I can only agree with what you have said but you could say the very same thing about Russia as well. They could have instead used their vast amounts of resources and expanded their economy and create wealth and live in prosperity. But now they don't because there is a one-man-show going on that makes no sense for anyone who is thinking rationally.

Xi Jinping is the same kind of guy. From an economic point of view an invasion of Taiwan would make no sense, but does that mean they won't invade Taiwan? If Xi Jinping gives the go, it is going to happen.

One major issue I have with all of this is that we as a global society already forego potential wealth by just pumping excessive amounts of money into military. Usually nobody really noticed it in their everyday lives, but this is going to change tremendously when the whole world starts to take away significant amounts of money from other causes and instead wastes it on military equipment. I just don't see how we can put the arms race to an end anytime soon. Even if Russia stops its aggression tomorrow, every country in Europe will still increase their military spendings by a lot. Finland is now building some sort of defend walls and I am sad to say that it makes sense to me. Nobody is interested getting hit by a surprise attack.
1158  Economy / Economics / Re: SEC's wildest move on Staking business | Go Non Custodial Staking for security on: February 19, 2023, 10:57:09 PM
-snip-

The only problem I see with non custodial staking is that it will lead to centralization over time or not? Won't the rich get richer and gain increasing network dominance? If those who stake the most also re-stake their gains, they'll start dominating the network. It shouldn't be too much of a problem as that also increases their skin in the game, but centralization is still one of the results.

The financial requirement is pretty high I think in order to be able to stake, but that's where those pools come into play. However, does participating in pools compromise individual security?

The issue of whales having more power in Proof of Stake scheme for now is implicit of that system, as far as I know, regardless whether we are talking about a decentralized or centralized staking interface. I have not read about the functionality of the staking pools, if the code is good it should not be any problem with exploits.

The main problem with those pools is the fact that retailer Ethereum users won't get much passive income out of it so not many of them will participate.

Yes but poos would still lower the barrier to entry to at least some degree. Since the transaction costs are still relatively high, I don't know how those pools would be best handled, but anyway. In a centralized interface when we talk about exchanges offering stable coin staking, the money is just coming from the exchange itself. In a decentralized interface we are talking about algorithmic stable coins I suppose, but I have never really looked into them or used them. I just came across some theories once where attacks on algorithmic stable coins were discussed. As soon as you want stable coins to be backed with fiat currencies, the risk for those offerings to get shut down is very real as we have now just seen.

However, if those companies like Coinbase have the required licenses and can prove that stable coins are backed by "safe" assets, I don't get why they would make a difference between a bank offering interest rates on deposits and registered crypto exchanges. Sure auditing requirements would perhaps have to be adjusted, but as long as there is sufficient backing of pegged cryptocurrencies, why shut the offerings down?

There was a really incredible effort by Manchester United in Old Trafford today. Erik ten Hag's team are getting better in time and they are still able to stay in the title race also.

Maybe the point difference with the leader is not too small but still they are in this in fact. Anyway, I liked Rashford the most also. The first goal was a really great one as the assist by Bruno Fernandes was really lovely. He passed the ball to Rashford with a trivela I mean so it was worth watching. Rashford had one of his best days with his finishing skills. By the way before all these three goals Leicester also found very big goal chances in the first half. But De Gea made two incredible saves which prevented his team from getting behind early in the game.

'Rashford is growing up these days. He had some better and some worse times, sometimes changing every week. Now he brought his game to a certain level and is able to keep it. It is not only about scoring, but the pace he has and the space he is creating for other players. Most importantly he uses his chances and scores. I just watched a summary of the game and I think that they do even have an advantage over Barcelona in the second leg in the Europa League. Apart from some time in the first half when they were under pressure against the Foxes, they played a very solid game. Besides their accurate passing they also created chances all the time. The reporter even said that now is the time for them to start thinking about the EPL title again.

this week's match really gave birth to a lot of surprises back in the premier league. And the most surprising thing was Man City who were held to a draw by Nottingham Forest. Because with so many opportunities created by Man City players.
Even though Man City had just been in top standing after beating Arsenal very well, unfortunately they failed to take advantage of the opportunity to win against Nottm Forest. This is really surprising. especially if you look at the match statistics, this is really sad because Man City put a lot of pressure and attacks on them, but were only able to draw by scoring just 1 goal. Nottm Forest may have a pretty good defense, but I don't think it's that strong. Meanwhile, Man City has a very strong line of attack. This is really not as expected. And finally they easily fell again to the second rank.
The Man City players got many golden opportunities, even right in front of the Nottingham forest goal. But all of them failed to turn into a goal. the Man city players look too hasty in shooting accuracy. so that the opportunity to shoot from in front of the goal can even miss so far. and several hard kicks from the Man city players even only hit the Nottingham forest crossbar. so I think in this match the biggest factor that allowed Nottingham to draw against Man City was because they had high luck.

This has been an issue for Manchester City quite often this season. They are just not making use of their opportunities very well. It was 23:4 shots for Manchester City and 74% possession, nothing unusual so far, but they are missing too many chances. Usually Guardiola's teams have always been very strong in using their chances. Not the case this season so far and that is what helps Arsenal a lot. But Arsenal was quite lucky in the end even though it wasn't undeserved. The shot that was deflected into the own goal by Martinez in the 93rd minute also doesn't happen every week. Wink I get the rule that if you touch the ball and change the direction of it, then it is said to be an own goal, but this goal doesn't really look like a classic own goal. Anyway, that win was important for Arsenal as a fourth game in a row without a win would have been a first crisis. Now it will be a difficult game against Leicester City as they have been stronger recently again.
