Brighton is strange because they have these very weird results but in both directions.

When you look at their season, they got started with two games winning both of them 4-1. Then they lose at home against West Ham 1-3, but then win against Newcastle 3-1. Then they win against Manchester United away 3-1 and after another 3-1 at home, they lose 1-6 against Aston Villa. Cheesy What the.... is going on there? In my opinion these results are really weird and it would destroy their Europa League dreams if they have one bad day and lose a game big time in the knockout rounds.
The conclusion is that they cannot maintain their performance or can be said to be far from consistent, it's just that if they can still win against a strong team then they will still be safe in the English Premier League.
Meanwhile, the European league is still in doubt but they still have a chance to qualify for the group phase, because from group B it seems that only Ajax can be guaranteed to be eliminated seeing how bad they are in three matches, while Brighton has the same points as AEK Athens and also only 1 point different from Marseille, they still have the same chance, the question is how they will face AEK Athens in the away match and also face Marseille, whereas when they face Ajax they should be able to make good use of it by winning. Lack of experience playing in European competitions could be an obstacle for Brighton when they have to face quite tight matches.

The bad news for Brighton is that they have two games away from home and they also have a game that is not to be underestimated against Ajax. For Ajax this game means a lot despite their bad situation in the Eredivisie. It is also about pleasing the club and their supporters. Winning this game against Brighton would mean some light at the end of the tunnel because it would also mean that they still can do it all and also win against strong opponents from the Premier League. If Brighton does not lose the game against them, it is still a good position for them. But this is still a but until the game has been played. Brighton's inconsistency definitely did not go unnoticed in Amsterdam.

The most favourite team in Ligue 1 is PSG and they are still strong enough. However, Nice's performance this season is impressing everyone. This team has been consistent since the beginning of the season. Nice team is still undefeated despite drawing in 4 matches. In every match, we see excellent performance from nice. And since Nice is not playing in the Europa League or the Champions League. So they can only focus on Ligue 1 matches. On the other hand, the PSG team is BC with a Champions League match. So it is getting a bit difficult for PSG to maintain consistency in Ligue 1. However, I think PSG will be able to reclaim the top spot in the points table in the next few weeks. They are only 1 point behind Nice.
But from a progressive point of view, it is still something small when looking at the conditions of Nice and PSG.
Indeed, at this time Nice is really very good even they have never taste d defeat even once, it's just that in this case I don't think it can be used as a guarantee for one season because last season Lens also did the same thing but the results were the strongest they were only in position 2 as well as what happened to Nice now.
The entity to become number one in Ligue 1  is still very difficult even in the last few seasons we also only know that only LOSC can do it after that there is no more but indeed this provides good conditions in terms of competition and I am happy with several surprise clubs like this.

The main problem with teams like Lens, Lille and Nice is that they have performed well at the start of the season, but have failed to maintain consistency. Ligue 1 title is usually possible if you win consecutively in the last 15 matches of the season. But while teams like Lille, Lens and Nice won consistently at the start of the season, they lost trucks after 15/20 matches. And this is why teams fail to win titles. PSG's performance on the other hand has been relatively consistent. So PSG is able to dominate in Ligue 1. However, this season Monaco and Lille may also be in contention for the title.

Maybe it doesn't even need the 15 consecutive wins at the end of the season, but most importantly any team should not lose. That is apparently the first step into the right direction if a team aspires to win the title.

Arsenal lost 3 games in the last 6 games in the Premier League, including the head to head game with Manchester City and that led to Arsenal handing over the title to Manchester City.

Lens in contrast won their last 7 consecutive games last season, but game number 31 of the season was against PSG and they lost it 3-1 and that is when they sadly also lost the title. It is tough to win titles when there is one superior team in the league like PSG or Manchester City.

Inter continued their winning streak. Inter managed to win against Roma, albeit 1-0, and continued to lead the league. They are doing really well in the league at the moment and I don't know if they can take both the league and the Champions League.
In the other important match yesterday, Napoli and Milan played to a draw.  Although Milan went 2-0 up in the away leg, they could not protect the score and drew.

Inter Milan is in great shape because they are playing successfully and even when they don't win their games scoring three or more goals, they still understand how to be effective this season and win the game with only one goal. That is what they have been popular for for quite a while. Their effort was minimal while their results was optimal and now they are on a run again to play a great season, but I am curious to see how good they will be in the Champions League this season as I think it will be really hard for them to repeat what they have achieved there in 22/23. But for the Serie A I am positive that they can win the title as they are winning the important games there and despite Juventus some other teams had minor struggles already.
Inter is performing well in Serie A and in the Champions League, in Serie A Inter has only suffered 1 defeat and in the Champions League Inter has not lost in 3 matches so far. I think Inter's chances of becoming champions in the Italian Serie A are wide open if Inter continues to maintain its consistency until the end of the season, but to win the title in the Champions League I am a little doubtful because there is quite a tough competition but it is not impossible that Inter can do it if Inter is trying even harder, the Champions League competition is dominated by quite tough competitors and Inter has to compete with Manchester City, Real Madrid and also Bayern Munich to win the title.

Winning the Serie A won't be too surprising for most of us I assume, but many eyes are watching Inter Milan because everyone wants to know whether last season was an outlier performance by them or whether the performances they are showing in the league will also be sufficient to beat the big guys in the competition. I am very curious and would love to see them play a home and away game against Manchester City again. Wouldn't it be an amazing draw if they were to play against Manchester City in the next round of the Champions League? Damn I am sure that the viewership for those two matches would explode as it would be a sweet opportunity to take revenge Smiley

I failed to understand why PSG would be finding it difficult to win easily against Brest even with the kind of squad they have in their team, they scored two goals and already looked like the winners of the game but at some point they start having errors in their defence line which cause Brest to equalize the 2 goals they scored, they made it easy as well as difficult for themselves to win the game and if not for the late minute penatly goal by Mbappé they wouldn't had secured 3 points today.

Well in my opinion i think playing both Bellingham and Mbappé in one team would work perfectly they're both good  finishers and would have their chances at a goal if you noticed against Barcelona Jude Bellingham didn't have to be in the 18yard box to score the 1st goal against the got a  chance outside the box to shoot a volley into the goal post he's a kind of player that could score from anywhere around the box when he gets chance to.

They haven't been playing in a convincing manner either, so they have this problem that they play like they have to in order to win the title and then more or less chill as nobody is really pushing them. Usually it gets worse for them when they are not in the Champions League anymore. That's why I believe that for their performance level throughout the season it will also be key to qualify for the next round in the Champions League. If they don't do that, I am sure they will crash again and then maybe another team like Nice or Monaco has a chance. But it should still not be underestimated as PSG will definitely be above 80 points and that is never easy to achieve for the other teams.
486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: October 30, 2023, 03:53:19 PM
This is indeed Camavinga's biggest strength because it gives Ancelotti options throughout the game without needing to substitute several players at once when an injury or suspension because of a red card happens. The value of such a player can be incredible depending on various game situtations and Camavinga can play many of the defensive roles and he is currently developing his skills to also contribute more to the offensive game when the situation allows. He isn't quite there yet when you compare him to Kroos, for instance, but I think in maybe one or two years he is one of the most reliable and flexible midfielders in Europe. He is only 20 years old and I always found it shocking how calm he is under pressure. His view Cheesy He always looks as if nothing is going on while he is getting attacked.
It was proven in yesterday's El Clasico match and when Camavinga was introduced, Real Madrid's playing rhythm was much different from before he was played, so they managed to beat Barcelona with a score of 1-2. Camavinga has skills in several positions and that is his strength and Kroos' performance was far below Camvinga in that match in my opinion. Jude Bellingham was the player most talked about in the match because in the first half his performance was not very impressive. Ancelotti replaced several players to maximize attacks and dominate the midfield and he managed to choose the right players to stop Barcelona because the introduction of Modric and Camavinga had a quite positive effect.

The potential of Real Madrid's young players is quite good and they must continue to play so they can improve their skills on the field when facing crucial matches. Xavi Hernandez again failed to dominate Ancelotti's strategy even though Gundogan opened up opportunities for them to win the match. Unfortunately, there was no further penetration during the second half, so the number of opportunities that Barcelona got did not produce a good final solution in scoring a goal.

Kroos wasn't bad in my opinion, but he wasn't good or particularly noticeable either. But he is mostly not a player who's contribution to the game is measured in goals or brilliant play all the time. It is more about how he affects the game, how he understands to keep the ball safe and to either speed up or slow down the game. He is a very good feeling for timings and knows when to do what, i.e. he barely makes the wrong decision in specific game situations.

This will be a problem for Barcelona that didn't occur for the last time this season. They have problems scoring goals. Last season their offense also wasn't overwhelming with only 70 goals in 38 games, but their defense was on a whole different level and that is why they won the title. This season they conceded more than half of the goals they conceded last season after 11 games.
487  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 30, 2023, 10:32:13 AM

I am actually someone who usually supports clubs that also support their trainers because sacking someone after just a couple of weeks often isn't fair, but in this case I think it is different. He has a squad that is worth a billion, he was involved in the planning of the team pre-season, he was involved when they sold some players and got some new ones. But this team plays so utterly bad that they are almost left without a choice but to sack him.

The problem with giving him more time is that if they keep dropping further down the table, there is no chance for a new coach to improve things and maybe qualify for the Champions League or Europa League. They are literally dead in the water already and they are going to miss another season of international competitions and all of this is happening while thy have one of the most valuable teams in Europe.
About months ago when the was even performing more poorly than this, the owner didn't consider sacking him because he believes in the project and that the team would still perform well and of course they did perform better in a few match but have currently gone back to being inconsistent and if things doesn't change it think they  might be forced to sack him and get another replacement that would help improve the team.

Well it's not really  a bad i dea to give him more time to improve,  atleast get to build a better understanding with his players, on and off the pitch so they'll start performing well as expected,  however since the  club is not in any top European competition they should be performing well cause they've got enough time to rest, well even though the team misses top 4 they could work hard enough to play in the Europa or Conference League.

I think that the Europa Conference League as their goal also sounds overly optimistic. They are not losing some tight games while they are the better team and just got unlucky. They lose the games because they are weak and that is a problem. They have lost at home against Brentford, against Aston Villa and against Nottingham Forest!! That's crazy! And I still don't understand why their offense is so weak. It was the same problem last season when they scored 38 goals, which is an average of 1 goal per game. How is that possible for a team like Chelsea? They need to find a new approach to rebuild that club, but this doesn't result in anything positive.
488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: October 30, 2023, 10:19:44 AM
Inter - Roma was a completely one-sided game honestly. I remember only once Roma had a really big opportunity to score and that's all. Even after Inter scored finally in the last ten minutes Roma were still struggling to fight back against them. It was clear that Mourinho came here to get one point.

I'm trying to understand Mourinho about his strategy especially because of not starting well to the season. But it is really difficult to resist a team which is very effective in the attacking line until the end of a game. This was the scenario here as well.  Sad

I assume that nobody really understands what their goal is for this season, but taking into account that games with Roma used to be great to watch, these times are a thing of the past. Roma is really bad and the worst is that they play this defensive strategy. They are not dangerous anymore and then they play defense only. This is not Roma and Mourinho also is overwhelmed with his job. Without these two games against Empoli and Cagliari it would look so much worse, but it saves the overall status for them as it looks ok since they scored 20 goals in 10 games. But it hurts to see when their only goal is to destroy the flow of the game instead of trying to play football themselves.

Since the start of the season, Brighton performance has continued to improve, so I am not surprised by Brighton's 2-0 win at home, but mentally the Brighton team is still very unstable in the Europa League, so they lost against AEK Athens on their first matchday.
~snip~
I think as a newcomer, this result is already pretty good. I'm a little optimistic about Brighton.  Ajax are not a small team, they are an experience team in the UCL or Europa League. This victory made their chances even greater to qualify for the knockout round. They can draw against Marseille and they should be able to seize the moment when playing at home. Then get at least one point in every away match or three points when facing AEK. Plus obliged to win against Marseille at home. Otherwise, their steps will be a little heavy.
The truth is that Brighton have really being impressive in their first season in the UEFA Europa League and as a first time experience, it's fair to tag them good with the results they've been able to achieve so far.
That being said, we mustn't conclude that they're strong enough to compete for Europa League trophy because the only team they were able to beat in the competition this season is Ajax who's been absolutely poor since the start of the season especially in their league. With the current squad and performance of Brighton, I don't think they can make it pass the quarter final stages of the competition.

Girona and Atletico madrid have performed well this season and they deserve to be praised for their impressive performances. And for Girona, they are quite consistent until the 11th La Liga match this season because they can stay in second place in the standings for the time being. Apart from that, Girona, who has a relatively ordinary squad or no signatories, is enough to steal the attention that they did. But thanks to their hard work, they were able to achieve a victory that kept them close to Real madrid at the top of the standings.

For Atletico madrid, they have also appeared quite strong this season because in the last 5 match, only they were able to get full points in each match. So Barcelona is facing many challenges this season in defending its title because the rise of Girona makes the competition in the standings even more interesting this season.

I found out just recently that Girona is also owned by the City Football Group, I didn't know that but that explains a couple of things here. I don't know why I missed that piece of info, but even the brother of Pep Guardiola is involved and that happened years ago in 2017, yet I never came across an article reading something about it. I am curious what their goal is and whether they are willing to invest crazy amounts of money and how that will work out with the Financial Fair Play rules in Spain. But so far I think this project really gets going right now and I would also say that Atletico Madrid is a serious contender for the title. They have 1 game in reserve, are 3 points down and have the better goal ratio. This year won't be easy for Barcelona. Last season they had a comfortable time towards the end.
491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: October 29, 2023, 10:30:51 PM
It is a fair game from both teams and they both deserve sharing the points. I have already given victory to Milan after I watched the first half and their performance in the game. But I was wrong and too quick to conclude because Napoli came back with full force  in the second half to equalize the two goals scored by Giroud in the first half.

Napoli did a wonderful work as they were too big to accept defeat and they played the game with all seriousness as if today was the final day that a trophy is involved in the match. Natan was given a red card on the 88th minutes of the game, and I thought that Milan will make use of the opportunity of a man down from Napoli to win the game but it was then that Napoli was even more serious to score the third goal in the dying minutes of the extra time.

I guess AC Milan is more disappointed about losing the two points than they enjoy having won one point away, but it was a fair result in the end. Though these draws are painful when at the same time Juventus Turin and Inter Milan take home those points with minimal results. Juventus in particular can consider themselves the winner of the weekend with their goal in minute 96 of the game. 3 big points for them and there they are again, right in the middle of the title fight. They still have some problems with their attacks, but the defense is getting better for them. That's what they could usually count on and it is coming back for them as it seems. This is probably not the last 1-0 result we will see from them.

The management may give him a time till the middle of the season. Performance of chelsea was so average and it was winning when chelsea was lucky enough. I meant let's take a look at the statistic and chelsea has nothing to do with it. The club keeps stuck in the same place.
I know that some people like mudryk was working so hard in inproving himself but let's take a look at how the whole of players are not improving themselves. This is the main problem that had been facing by chelsea.
There was no improvement is happening in the club. The club keeps show the same pattern over and over again. Other club can predict it easily without any problem.
This is pretty much the same like when someone was doing the same stupid thing again and again. Chelsea likes never learn from its past mistake and it keeps to show horrible performances. This club is so terrible to watch at this moment.
Winning a few games meant nothing for sure. This is the main reason why people were not even feeling confidence with it. I saw that chelsea targeting a new striker or even centre back but that's not enough to change the team.

I am actually someone who usually supports clubs that also support their trainers because sacking someone after just a couple of weeks often isn't fair, but in this case I think it is different. PSG had a hard time winning today, but in the end they managed to get three points. The bettors who made two predictions as a result of the match really had a patient moment today. Mbappe scored one of his usual goals, it was one of his style goals that we have memorized. I can't imagine Mbappe in Real Madrid next season. What kind of level will he reach with that squad?

Imagine if Mbappe plays forward in a team where a player like Belligham is in the midfield.

They are not really finding back their dominant game. I don't know why because the players they have are really strong especially in the offense. It seems that they mostly suffer from inconsistencies in their defense, but even then they have lots of games that they win in the last few minutes.

This is not an easy hypothesis to say what would be if Mbappe plays in a team with a midfielder like Bellingham because at the moment it looks like Bellingham benefits from the fact that there is no center forward. If he were pulled further back into the midfield, maybe a lot of his efficiency would be lost. What he is playing right now is crazy, but I think it has to do with the position he is given and also with the space and responsibility he has for the team. That would change when a player like Mbappe joined them.
494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: October 28, 2023, 09:51:40 PM
Nice is team that is in its best phase this season and they even managed to beat the team that previously always dominated Ligue 1.
Whether this will last long or not cannot be confirmed because Monaco and PSG are trying to catch up to fight for top position.

This season Nice has had many surprises in the league. 1 of the ten matches they have played they are unbeaten so far they have only managed four draws and six wins. This is good for Nice as an ordinary team but they are able to compete with PSG as we know they are very complete with the players they have.

PSG will play Brest even though PSG wins they are still one point behind Nice. The one who can overtake Nice this week is Monaco. This is even if Monaco wins over Lille. It's true that Nice won't last long in first place, but at least they've done their best so far.

As I said before Nice winning this game was very much predictable and I was not expecting to see anything other than this from Nice. We know had a good performance so far in this season and compared to many other teams Nice good better results in the French League this shows Nice is in the good form while Clermont is not in that good form and the only reams they could bear Lyon in the past week is because of Lyon not being in good form.

Nice is doing as well and as funny as it can get. Cheesy When you look at their goal stats, isn't it crazy how this team is ranked no.1, has not lost a single game, has the best defense in the league and pretty much the worst offense from all those teams at the top. I don't think there was ever a situation in the league similar to this one. Cheesy

Well it is often said that the defense wins the games and in this case there couldn't be more truth to that as they hardly score any goals, which in turn means that they have the best defense. How would they otherwise be ahead of PSG and all those other clubs. It is just an abnormality that doesn't happen very often. I can't recall if I have seen something like that before.
495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 28, 2023, 09:41:27 PM
It all depends on the term of the contract and what the release clause is, what seems expensive now may be very cheap in a couple of years. Gavi is very young and he will improve so it might even be cheap right now. If you are talking about compliance with ffp, then Chelsea has a whole crowd of players and they will sell someone to maintain the balance in the required indicators, and we all know that top clubs always avoid punishment for such violations.
Spending money is never a problem for Chelsea because they have spent a lot in the transfer market in the previous season. Therefore, I don't think the player is expensive for Chelsea management, and I think they will try signing him since it is Pochettino's choice to sign him in order to stabilize the team midfield because he was complaining that he was not the coach that signed these players. That is why the team is struggling to adapt, but I think the manager has reached a stable performance since the team is now becoming more consistent than they used to be at the beginning of the season.

It's hard to talk about stability given the defeat to Brentford, but Chelsea's performance seems to be getting better. In general, it’s quite strange that a team with literally one goal for the season (the Premier League, without European Cups and other things) is in such a storm. I think Chelsea fans are already tired of the transitional seasons and want to see a positive result.

The thing is that this defeat came as a surprise even for the pessimistic people. I know that Chelsea can't be relied upon as it has been like that for a while, but how on earth could they lose this game like that? Quite impressive that Pochettino is still there. If there is anything the club could do right now, in my opinion it would be to get rid of this horrible coach.

He probably has an amazing contract and Chelsea made the same mistake twice and need to pay him a fortune when he gets sacked. These contracts should be much more success-based and if a coach or a team doesn't deliver, they need to accept big cuts in their payments. But that's not how it works and they can play whatever they want and still count the millions.

- When you brought up Camavinga, it reminded me of another young talent who's a versatile midfielder and can excel in various positions. I'm talking about Jamal Musiala, who currently plays for Bayern Munich. I mentioned in a post yesterday that Manchester City is interested in signing him.
- I've been really impressed with Jamal Musiala lately, especially as I've watched him play and delved deeper into his skills. He performs admirably as a winger, central midfielder, and in attacking roles. His speed and technical abilities are both quite impressive.

Yes, but Camavinga and Musiala are impressing in different ways. The interesting thing about Musiala is that he looks physically weak, but he isn't. Camavinga looks strong and he is, but Musiala has such an impressive balance and can't be stopped even when he is fouled. He is also still improving and will probably become one of the most valuable midfielders there are.
497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: October 26, 2023, 03:50:02 AM
There are many options for the midfielders in Real Madrid squad. It won't impact much when Camavinga gets injured. I think Ancelotti prefer to choose trio Tchouaméni-Kroos-Valverde although Camavinga is available for the match against Barcelona. Real Madrid needs to play more offensively because Barcelona attacking looks not in their best shape. It is the advantage for Real Madrid to play with more offensive players.

Yes, Courtois and Militão will be absent, they get injured a long time. However, Real Madrid already have Kepa Arrizabalaga for the GK options. And for the defenders, Real Madrid still has some options. It won't be a serious problem although Courtois and Militão can't play.
The advantage that Camavinga has is that he can play in several positions even though Ancelotti places himself in midfield. So strategy changes can be made on the field even if Ancelotti does not change players. Real Madrid has a lot of good midfielders as you mentioned, but losing Camavinga could affect the intensity of the game a little because this season he is one of the important players. Real Madrid must prepare for El Clasico perfectly and it would be a shame if they had to suffer a defeat like when they faced Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona also performed extraordinary in La Liga and this is an opportunity for Xavi Hernandez to prove that his squad is solid. It is difficult to make predictions regarding the El Clasico match, especially since this is a crucial match for the two ruling teams in La Liga. Competition and strategy battles will return to the two coaches and whoever is able to see the opportunity will win the match.

De Gea is still free agent. I saw a source claiming that Manchester United might rethink of signing him back. However that source was The Sun so I don't believe anything they publish.  Grin

Apart from that it is said he can even decide for an early retirement depending on his getting a satisfying offer from a team. I hope he doesn't get retired this early in his career. 32 isn't an old age for a goalkeeper. Especially for a great goalkeeper like him. Probably teams from Europe don't want to approach due to his high demand. Otherwise I don't know the reason. Maybe he would get an offer from Saudi Arabia or Qatar.
I don't think that David De Gea is interested in Manchester United again, and if he comes back to Manchester United, then it will be a fortune for Manchester United. Obviously, the way Onana is performing poorly, David De Gea was a thousand times better than him in every respect. But now Onana has also started performing well. In the UEFA Champions League, the winning penalty against Copenhagen was limited. David De Gea should not retire yet because he still has the qualities required for a world-class goalkeeper. If he retires due to not taking interest in any clubs, then it is a big mistake by David De Gea. It is better that he does not retire and continues his career in Saudi Arabia instead of Europe.

David de Gea has his own history of calamitous mistakes that sometimes cost Manchester United the game. In this case overall attention was very high and focused on Onana as the goalkeeper position caused a lot of public discussion because of the deadlock situation that ten Hag created due to his bad way of communication. It reminds me of the situation that Harry Maguire is in. The media have been pushing a certain topic so hard that people begin to focus on only one or two things that are happening in the club. Is Onana making a mistake? Is Maguire making a mistake? I am not defending any of those two, but they are not the only ones to blame when these situations happen. Manchester United is playing a horrible season and it is no surprise to me that if a bad team plays in front of a goalkeeper, the time will come that the goalkeeper also pays the price for that.

Son has been defending Tottenham since the 2015/2016 season, Which is precisely his 9th this season with tottenham and according to statistics His best performance was in the 2021/2022 season where Son was able to score 23 goals in 35 match. So, This season He has shined again as the top scorer in the Tottenham team because He plays as the main striker this season.

I think Son will be able to get through this season more brilliantly compared to the 2021/2022 season.  In 9 matches He has scored 7 goals and if Son is able to maintain his best form maybe He can score 25 goals this season. Perhaps Ange postecoglou main target in his first season with Tottenham is to finish in the top 4 and bring tottenham back to compete in the Champions league next season.
If you look at the previous season, Heung-Min Son really shined with Tottenham, but because they have a single striker Harry Kane, Heung-Min So is not really talked about. Heung-Min So's 2021/2022 season has indeed performed extraordinary and for this season there is a possibility that he will become the top scorer in the English league because of his extraordinary performance with Tottenham. Ange Postecoglou is not a previously famous coach, but he was able to bring Tottenham to extraordinary performance this season.

The top four target will be easy for Tottenham to achieve because so far they are leading the standings. I like James Maddison's game and he is one of Tottenham's most successful purchases this season because his presence can change Tottenham's game for the better by following the strategy implemented by Ange postecoglou.

Although I think someone like Heung-Min Son deserves all the success he can get and if it is the award for the best striker in the Premier League, then so be it. But I think beating Erling Haaland is close to impossible. But that doesn't mean Heung-Min Son is any worse than Haaland when we are talking about the importance of a player for a team. Heung-Min Son is Tottenham Hotspurs. The synergy level between him and the team as a whole is incredible and time is flying by, he is now playing his 9th year for Tottenham Hotspurs, which means he is also deeply ingrained with the fanbase and the whole club. I guess he is one of those guys where nobody ever expected that a South Korean could have such a prolonged and successful career in the Premier League as a striker, but he did amazing.

This is not about focus. They focus on their Ligue 1 games as much as they focus on their Coup de France games as much as they focus on their Champions League games and yet results can differ. Results depend on many variables and there is such a thing called form or shape. There is another thing called luck. On some days it can happen that these variables are to your advantage on others they are not. Mentality and the ability to hold a certain stability within also comes into play. You describe it as if they agree before a game starts that they focus less on that day because it is Ligue 1, and then when they play the Champions League they put their heads together and say 'hey today is Champions League, we need to focus more". Nobody in his right mind thinks that this is how professional football works.

I mean we can't see the same effort in the Ligue 1 despite generally playing against teams that are closer to their level here. I don't want to state it like they are thinking as "Let's give up on the Ligue 1 and shift our focus totally onto the Champions League.". Why would I think like that?  Cheesy

I want to state it like there is something wrong behind the scenes and they just can't figure it out. I have seen many teams so far which got worse results in their domestic leagues than the Champions League. But they weren't generally this bad in their domestic leagues.

Lens just can't make even a slight progress now. I hope the manager finds a strategy to improve their form in the Ligue 1 too.

Ok I guess we have a basis here that we both agree on, but just see that we have had some abnormalities recently when it came to teams that played weak in their domestic league while making big steps in international competitions. Sevilla did do the exact same thing last year when they had big problems in La Liga but won the title in the Europa League. West Ham won the Europa Conference League and finished 14. in the Premier League.

I think that Lens is having a bad time, but not that they can't get out of that and play strong again. The results are against them and other teams have experienced that as well.
