1141  Other / Meta / Re: There are many smerit holdings but not readily given. Could we punish them? on: April 22, 2018, 10:59:04 PM

Is it possible that somebody (or a group), e.g. account farmers, are now trying to punish the forum, registering a lot of newbie accounts daily and spamming the hell out of the topics, in order to make it extra hard for the normal people to find something useful? Or this is only conspiracy?

I think it's just simple greed. You can run several bounty hunter accounts for the sig revenue, and you can talk about it on Steemit, YouTube and other sites that reward posters, and then you can get even more money.

They even talk about it openly right here and I guess get paid for those posts as well.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3372313.0;topicseen  (thanks to The Pharmacist for pointing it out).

They really are a helpful lot though!!!  Nice to see them helping their fellow shitcunts.

Taking part in about 4-5 bounties. Can’t do more than that, this is already too much. Lol ;-) How do you guys keep track of all the bounties you took part in?
I do a few more than you. What works for me is keeping track of the project, requirements, and due dates in a spreadsheet and updating it once a day with progress.

The other part to keep track of is reports. When I share a link or retweet something, I’ll immediately copy the link into the corresponding bounty post. This way, you can track your progress in BCT as well as your spreadsheet. Also, at the end of the week you don’t have to go back and find posts. It’s worked great for me so far!

Mr moderator you should tell Badecker he repeats himself <Boring person      blah blah blah god said bollocks <Repeats it over and over again.

While I have my personal opinion on that user I don't see him breaking the forum rules.  He at least is engaged in discussion and clearly is not posting for sig campaign purposes!

Hello Mr moderator  Grin  Any chance you could moderate my wife?  She burnt the BBQ Roll Eyes..
Let me guess, you started in on the pints a little early so the misses had to take over the barby for you when you passed out in the garden!  Now you're blaming her....  Typical...  I might moderate her for you, lets start with the vital details, age and measurements please, I will require a pic if she passes the numbers part of the test!!!!!!!!

Great, finally some rules here too Wink
@Flying Hellfish, What is the best way to report a user with multiple shitposts? Report only one and leave a comment in the report that the user has multiple shitposts and need the mod's attention, or just report all the shitposts one by one?

Every mod has different way of taking care of the reports, so I don't want to waste both your and mine time Smiley

Actually I have no idea how the reports are handled here in the forum, and how many privileges local modes have.

I appreciate you wanting to be efficient for both our sake, the best way is to report each post individually.  I would very much appreciate users reporting it will help me a lot!

You don't need much info, simply saying spam or shitpost or something like that in the comments field is really all I need for those types of posts.

Read and obey all forum rules which can be found here:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

Low/no value posts are in danger of being deleted.

A post can technically be on topic but still in danger of being deleted.

Don't read the thread title or OP and simply hit reply.  READ the thread before posting (or at least enough of it that you have a strong understanding of any discussion already taking place).

The forum is not an "exam", we are not here to hear the same answers again and again but in your own words.  Make us laugh (or mad!), add something of value, something new or something interesting to the discussion.

Double sided statements/posts are not interesting nor do they add any value to a discussion:  "It's dark at night but light during the day" is not interesting to anyone!

Threads where the discussion has dwindled to page after page of redundant answers will be locked to prevent further spamming.

If a thread is locked and users wish to continue with actual discussion please send me a PM and I will unlock it so discussion can continue.

Be sure to check back with this sticky as it may be updated from time to time.

I meant no harm, I posted on an off-topic topic which creator stated "I believe in 10 years I believe smartphones will disappear.", something like that. So I just answered the following:

Quote
Smartphones are literally portable computers where you can do almost everything, it's number is almost bigger than the entire earth population and apps are being built every day, I doubt smartphones will ever die, even more in 10 years.

Why was it deleted? I don't understand what rule I broke, and this honestly keeps happening, is it because of my tone? I meant no offense to anyone.

Hi fernandoaleixo, I am the new mod for the P&S section.  Please be assured you did not offend anyone.  Offensive comments (unless considered trolling or illegal) are not moderated by the forum and will not be the reason for a post getting deleted.  Everyone's opinion no matter how offensive is allowed to be shared!

I believe your post in question was spam.  Did you just read the thread title or OP and then reply?  Did you read the thread or at least enough of it to get a good feel for the discussion already before posting?  Did you repeat what others have said many times in the previous 13 pages of the thread?  Did you add anything new or of value to the discussion.  Would you ever come back to check on your post for further discussion?  Did you notice the thread in question was locked so it didn't become an even bigger spam fest than it already was?

The forum isn't a test where you pick questions and parrot answers.  If you contribute to the discussion then you can say almost anything you want.

Also interested in hearing from people who report a lot, how they avoid accidentally reporting topics multiple times... Vod? Flying Hellfish? rickbig41? etc.

I wish I had a bitchin good answer for you mate LOL, I don't!

I'd be very surprised if I had never reported something more than once.  I tried to avoid it but I assume it has happened.  Because I couldn't track it easily I did my best to avoid it and let the chips fall where they may so to speak.
