1161  Economy / Economics / Re: Building wealth it's not just one time Luck on: September 12, 2023, 05:48:31 AM
I was told at a very early stage, that it is one thing to get a lot of money.. but a whole other thing to keep it. Just look at the 1000s of rags to riches stories, where you find someone that won a lot of money and before you know it... that person is living on the street again.

It takes a lot of self discipline not to over spend and to grow that money to beat inflation. You cannot simply leave your money in a Bank, because the inflation will gradually eat into your investment.

Building wealth is a continuous process of change and adaptation to the market conditions.  Wink
You are right. You have to learn to accept and make changes if you want to grow. No one is able to move forward without actually making the move, meaning no one is able to level up if they only do the same things as we face different things in different stages of life and other factors within like finance. You can't expect the always be on top when the world around you is changing and evolving, if you do that then you better know that soon enough people will see you as a thing of the past, and no opportunities will find value to you. Moreover, if you make mistakes but refuse to acknowledge and change the factors that push you to make these mistakes then there will be no growth, you will be putting yourself in an endless cycle of failure.
1162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Friendly wagers in Bitcointalk on: September 11, 2023, 05:59:58 PM

It should be a fun thing only with small amounts and hopefully everyone keeps his word, I know many people would say that it’s better to just bet on a casino but I think it’s more fun here and also sometimes you can agree on better returns.
What do you think about this? I hope it’s not breaking any rules here.

Of course it is usually fun to wager off the real casino betting. In my local parlance, that kind of betting is called "side" which means outside the usual casino betting through your account on the website. I think that could be better understood as off the table betting, like in table games where two people are playing, those who are watching can bet on each other or wager against each while the two individual gamblers have there own separate bet.

Yes that can be called P2P betting and some gamblers specialize on this kind called outside or outside the game, I have witnessed this more in card games, snooker or billiard games.

However, such kind of betting here may need escrow.

Right, with the amount of newcomers on the daily in here, I don't think that people will be comfortable in dealing with relatively unknown people to them even though they are regulars to a board or to a certain topic. Escrows would be needed in such side bets as we call it, and this is to ensure the smoothness of the transactions as well.
1163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the Difference Between Plying Gambling on Online Sites and Real Casinos? on: September 11, 2023, 05:48:08 PM
So far, the main difference I noticed between the two is that crypto casinos offer fast withdrawals with no added bullshit on transactions. For physical casinos, they will take some time to verify your winnings if you won in a machine that they operate, and it might take a good 5 minutes or sometimes even longer if the winning is too big. I never experienced winning a huge amount in physical casinos, but have been inside one for one too many times that I notice that every time someone wins on a slots machine, it takes the crew some time to congratulate the winner and give the winnings to them.
1164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: September 11, 2023, 05:19:18 PM
We have entered a new race week in Formula 1 as well. This time we are going to watch Singapore GP. The last race here in 2022 was really like a nightmare for Verstappen. There was rain and Verstappen was able to finish only at the 7th position. Rain is expected again in Singapore this week so it can be a pretty interesting race.  Grin

Pretty sure Verstappen already learned his lesson on the last Singapore GP. He'd take things slow and get the necessary tires before unleashing the fury of his car. One of the reasons he placed badly on Singapore GP last year is because he didn't change tires soon enough, thinking that he can get a comfortable lead before going to the pits. Hopefully that won't happen especially now that rain is forecasted over Singapore.
1165  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Grab magkakaroon ng features for crypto, NFT, kelan kaya magkakaroon sa Pinas? on: September 11, 2023, 02:23:27 PM
1166  Local / Pilipinas / Re: malisyosong links umatake namaman at nkapagnakaw ng ilang libong dolyar on: September 11, 2023, 01:52:21 PM
Most especially dapat may common sense tayo. Just think before doing anything online.
1167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be rich sheeple or free people, what's your choice? on: September 11, 2023, 01:32:17 PM
First off, I find OP's post very entertaining especially with the choice of words and the wild imagination this post has. Anyway, the choices are basically easy to explain here. The first is a choice that leaves little to no room for freedom but a lot more money (but also every transaction needs payment). The other choice, on the other hand, gives you freedom but not so much with money. Now the answer will be different depending on what is more important for an individual, is it more money or is it freedom? Personally, I'd go for freedom as it gives me more opportunity to do whatever I want hence allowing me to do more transactions that will surely bring more profits to me, and also because I like doing things on my own accord without any restrictions blocking me.
1168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of advice is worth giving such people? on: September 11, 2023, 01:05:31 PM
I have never been hacked or scammed before so of course I can't 100% say I know how frustrating it must feel. However, just the idea of losing hard-earned money that you are hoping to invest and make a profit from surely is a terrible circumstance that no one wants to be in. If I am put in such a situation and I know that Bitcoin investment will still give me a good channel to earn profit then I'd probably still buy Bitcoins, but I also need to ensure that I have learned from what had happened and secure my wallet more. For example, if I know that my wallet security isn't the best then I'll do proper research on how to secure it better, I will also ensure that I am not downloading anything that is giving me access to hackers to get my money. Essentially, the only advice to give from people who have experienced such a thing is to learn from their mistakes and do something about it.
1169  Economy / Economics / Re: Teaching My Nephews About Wealth Through the Game of Monopoly on: September 11, 2023, 12:04:58 PM
(a) to build wealth, you need to own assets an not liabilities

(b) to build wealth, never put all your eggs in one basket. Always diversify your investment portfolio.
(a) Not entirely correct, many businessman don't mind to take a loan to expand their business or taking other risky move.

(b) Not entirely correct, diversification is only appropriate if you're middle upper or upper class. Imagine you only have $1,000, do you want to diversify to gold, Bitcoin, stock and time deposit? even Bitcoin price reach to $60K, you're only earn $250 and you need to wait for 2-3 years, it's small.

I completely agree with what you say, especially about diversifying our investments. People always say diversification is necessary, but it's meaningless when we don't have large capital resources to do it. Diversification does not give us maximum profits, it only dilutes our assets and does not bring any benefit. Diversification is only right when we have a large amount of money and want to ensure safety, but with a modest amount of capital, we should focus on an asset with the most potential, that is how we can make max profit .
I agree with you. Just like in Monopoly, if you have a small amount of money in your hand it is better to buy one property and focus your investment there like building a house and collecting money from there every time a player lands on that property of yours than buying several properties but only getting little profit and risking to have a small amount of money in your hand as you play and then ultimately losing once you land on your opponents' property. Essentially, the point is if you have a small capital you have to be smart about it and let it grow first with a single investment or business before you venture out.
1170  Economy / Economics / Re: Building wealth it's not just one time Luck on: September 11, 2023, 11:42:16 AM
I hope you have a better understanding the differences with gambling, business, and investment.

everything what you don't know about and can't control it's gamble

This definition of yours about gambling doesn't make any sense. I have seen gamblers who bet on their favourite sports as they find it comfortable betting on a sport they know about, so they know what they're doing.
Business owners don't just start their business without knowledge on the business model they want to pursue.
Investors doesn't just place their money in an asset they don't know about.
Do you know what is the one thing they have in common? "Controlling the outcome".
I agree with you. Besides even in gambling gamblers still use critical thinking and skills to ensure that they win as much as possible or not lose as much money as they can to retain their capital. It may be true that there should be luck and some uncontrollable aspects that comes with gambling but it doesn't mean gamblers do not use their mind to bet. In fact, in gambling, before an individual makes a bet they have to analyze how big of a percentage their chance of winning can be and when, to whom, and how much they should gamble or bet. These things show just how much control is at present in gambling. The same way as investments should be, thinking both critically and rationally should be present.
1171  Economy / Economics / Re: To afford personal education or a property? Where to allocate funds? on: September 11, 2023, 10:53:17 AM
A property is a long term investment for the future and a land can generate money through being rented or for growing crops but then you have more money to put in and a slowing down of growth. On the other hand education is something that will be a short term thing but gives you an edge over others. The future prospect will be much better if you have a degree and then think of a property.

However family problems and financial constraints are important to consider here. If you are in need of money education will have to wait but keep in mind that as you grow old the chances of going through the education grind is tough.
Although I agree with some of your points I wouldn't say that education is only a short-term thing. Education is one of the biggest factors that is needed for a lot of things, for example, you need it to have an advantage in finding a good-paying job and earn the trust and respect of the people around you as they know you have the background in education as your pillar for your business (basically it gives them the confidence that you know what you are doing so it makes it easy for them to trust you). Above all, education follows you until you grow old. As cringe as it is, knowledge and education is something that you acquire no one else will be able to take them from you, unless you grow old and start forgetting the thing you learn. Education is a skill you will be able to use to your advantage, always.
1172  Economy / Economics / Re: How to developed your capital on: September 11, 2023, 10:31:36 AM

The first step that needs to be taken is to verify what investments can produce profits in the long term because perhaps not all forms of investment are good for the long term and especially if they are linked to achieving maximum profits. Life needs to be prepared and that is how a person wants to get pleasure in old age, investment, business or other things that can make money will not be achieved if someone does not prepare.

At this stage the extent to which a person can take advantage of opportunities and the availability of investment or business cannot be done immediately if they do not have knowledge or experience. Capital preparation, skills and the courage to take risks are ways rich people can grow healthier finances because no wealth comes by itself without preparation.

There is no doubt that having complete knowledge about how to participate in investments is very important. Not all types of investments can be linked to long-term investments. Our aim is to get good profit, if we get good profit even in short term then we should take this profit immediately. I think there are people who invest for long term as well as short term.

Knowledge and experience is an essential factor for any business because without experience and knowledge the risk of loss in any business you go into is high. You are right that no business can be profitable without preparation. Long-term investing is not about entering the market whenever you want, but choosing the right time. However, whatever the type of investment, we should focus more on our profit, because everyone's goal is to make a good profit.
I agree as well. Sometimes there are instances that money comes in just a short time of investment and sometimes it will take longer than we planned. There are different types of investments and they also require different amounts of effort, time, and capital. These different types of investments also cater to different types of investors depending on their goals and what they are willing to bring to the table. Some investments don't suit others while some do to a degree that investors just stick to that investment for a long time with how much it matches them and their planned path. The point is an investor we have to know what kind of investments suits us by knowing how much we can invest, how much time we want before we can see profit, how much effort we can give to take care of that investment as well as how big of a profit we are expecting to meet.
1173  Economy / Economics / Re: Save your environmental economic cycle on: September 11, 2023, 09:43:52 AM
Absolutely, as someone with relatively stable finances, it's important to be generous towards those with less economic means.

Small sellers are seeking to make a living, often dealing with more challenges than we are. Meanwhile, larger sellers are looking to make additional income, as I believe their profits have already accumulated over time.

Even if we possess greater trading skills, offering advice and guidance to small traders on how to improve their trading methods can be beneficial. We can share knowledge and assistance to help them develop their businesses and provide for their families.
While this is true, I have noticed that there are still a few small sellers that sell their products at a higher price and lower quality compared to the big ones that I usually buy my things from. I really want to help these local sellers around me as I know they need the support and it would also help the community to support each other like that, but seeing as I only just have a strictly allocated budget for the products I purchase it has become such a dilemma for me as I am forced to still buy from big sellers since they fit my budget more and their products meet my standard. Moreover, I find it awkward and difficult to give advice to those smaller local sellers as they feel offended by such a gesture from me. Sometimes, even though we want to help, there are factors that prevent us from doing so.
1174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 10, 2023, 09:58:29 PM
Yeah, most likely it will be a big boost for him if he can carry team Germany. The thing with Dennis is that he has help in engaging his team mates in this FIBA tournament. I guess his experience in the NBA really help in a lot and he has so much confidence going into the finals. So we will see.

On the other hand, Serbia as well is playing good basketball, rotation and specially their defense. So this is going to be very exciting fight for the gold medal in this FIBA. And for sure those NBA players that have participated here will have a new kind of experience.

If a player has enough experience in the NBA, he is very likely to dominate tournaments like this. In fact, the outcome of tonight's game proves it.
I think it's fair to say that Dennis Schroder has mediocre stats for his NBA career, but it was more than enough for him to dominate and lead his team to victory in the final game of the World Cup tournament.

The guy has an understanding of how a lot of other players play. He knew the dynamics of the game on a very personal level and even though he's not considered an all-star in NBA, he can still carry his own in the big leagues as evidenced by their win and his outstanding performance in the finals. I consider NBA as the toughest basketball league in the world, and FIBA just comes second. So your statement that anyone who has experience in the NBA can perform well enough in FIBA, too. It's just that team play is really the name of the game in FIBA compared to NBA's foul mechanics and banking on superstars.
1175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 - Betting and Discussions on: September 10, 2023, 08:55:47 PM
I feel that SGA was by far the best player of the tournament (did not watch much of Slovenia so can't say anything about Dončić).
Schroeder was the best individual of the champions, and the best player of the final - so the choice to give the award to him makes a lot of sense as well.

SGA's game sense and his ability to make plays is really great to watch. He knows what to do inside and on the outside. It's just that Serbia is too much for them to handle. Brooks had the support, but Serbia's tight defense made it too hard for team Canada to score.

I have to say that at the beginning of the tournament I'd put at least 6-7 teams ahead of Germany so this comes as a real surprise.

I always thought that USA will finish 2nd if not the champions. Also thought that it's a possible Slovenia vs Spain. Germany was never on my radar, but here we are. I'm not surprised that Schröder was the MVP. He played well on the last 2 games leading to the finals. Not as popping as SGA, but still enough to net him the attention of the masses and the officials as well.
1176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Behaviours of gamblers you dislike. on: September 10, 2023, 08:24:48 PM

I hate the second and third points that you've mentioned. I usually see people who have failed in gambling themselves keep tickling those who are winning to provide them with tips and tricks or strategies that they can use to win as well, and I don't understand why people think that they can win just after getting some tips from another gambler when the other gambler himself is winning just because he is lucky and not for any other reason.

And, I also hate people who borrow money from others by making excuses that they will use it on other things but then they use that money in gambling and once they lose that money, they forget about it like they never borrowed it and when confronted, they behave like they got offended from it.
Me too, I don't like when someone just talk to me because he knew that i am winning. I don't want to lend some to people who are not capable to manage their emotions and I don't want to give that to them because I am sure they will just lose again because their mindset is just to win the game and get their loses back which will make them to lose more because of that thing.

It depends on what the person is trying to communicate with me at the moment. If their communication or question is about help or the right game to place, that won't be an issue, unless they're talking about tipping them some cash from my winnings. It pisses me off. I also don't like it when a friend predicts the wrong game or tells me that my predictions are wrong and it ends up being false. If I play their game or choice and lose, it will never be a happy day for me. However, such things we must encounter as gamblers as people are not perfect. From time to time they'll do things that'll spoil our fun or mode in some manner.

People watching you win then asking for hand me downs later on are the worst. There are some who becomes too aggressive on their begging that it becomes downright annoying to see them after the fact. I would never give someone some cash after I win something, simply because they never helped me in getting the money I used to bet.

As for the latter, I don't listen to other people when it comes to the games I bet on. I don't care if I lose, I still enjoyed watching the game with no regrets in the end.

OP, I think you may have mispelled Valorant there. Cheesy

I might as well transfer to blackjack.fun in the meantime to take advantage of this promotion. Especially now that there are tons of games for CS:GO and Dota 2 in the coming weeks. Is this promotion going to be available to a wider game pool, or will there just be a few games wherein the promotion will be active?
1178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why gambling beginners must not joke with casino announcement on: September 10, 2023, 06:45:06 PM
This is what I don't get as well. People who have been here for months or years try casinos that cannot be found on this forum, and then complains about getting scammed the next day asking for help to identify who the operators of the casino are. It doesn't work that way; if you want to be safe while gambling, better gamble on platforms that have active threads in here and runs a signature campaign. That ensures you that they are actively communicating with the community and can easily be reached out to if there are problems that need to be addressed.
1179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How will you feel if it happens to you just like this? on: September 10, 2023, 06:31:56 PM
That is why it's better to gamble with at least the little amount you can afford to gamble with, like what I does mostly is that I don't go predicts games if I don't have money to place those bets so, is better either you give it to someone that is more closer to you to try their lucks but you can also warned them not to gamble with huge funds. Whichever I don't think of what has past away because I know that what is coming is more likely to be bigger and better than what has gone, just learn to forget the past and moved on otherwise you can't make any progress with your gambling lifestyle.
Exactly. Because when you predict from your mind without betting and at the end of the game, your bet enter with the full amount and only for you to discover that you didn't use money but free bet, lolz. It will be very painful. And one thing again oh! There are sometimes you make free or trial bet and won the bet so the next match you borrowed money from a friend to play the game thinking that he will win the game because of the previous scenario and at the end of the game he loss woefully.

There is luck in gambling, the day when you are not lucky to win then the matter any amount you use to play the games you won't win but when you are lucky that day even small amount, you will a reasonable amount in the bet.

The worst thing is that is even the days you don't plan to bet with huge amount you will always win but anytime you set to bet high it turns out losing always, especially someone like me do experience this most times so I prefer placing bet with small amount of money maybe twice if I should experience any cashout along the line the other game could serve to reach the end point.

It sometimes lies in our confidence on the bets that we place. Also, it might be the lack of analysis that we made on the bets that lost with a high amount because we're too sure that it's going to hit. Some bets look too good but when you dig deeper and look for more resource, you can see that it has a flaw and can still lose on some circumstances that you haven't looked at. If excitement to win comes first before trying to win, then bets will really be lost no matter how you put it.
1180  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Nakapagtry naba kayo dito sa Sats cafe on: September 10, 2023, 05:30:06 PM
Satingin ko if may magtatangka o may gusto man mag patayo ng ganitong cafe aantayin muna nila if papatok ba yung bukas na bago mag risk.
