1182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: History of Cryptocurrency on: September 10, 2023, 04:01:24 PM
Before reading the replies I was going to thank OP for this short summary of the history of crypto because I thought I could share it with my partner who was asking about random information about crypto as she is relatively new in this scene/system, however, based on the replies I spent time fact-checking the post and found some false information on OP's post. Clearly some may think that it is not a big deal but spreading false information can still have bad effects no matter how big or small it is plus since you are already posting someone it is still better to make sure that you are 100% sure that you are posting something that is backed up by reliable sources. It wouldn't afterall take much to double check things.
1183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Common Bitcoin ideas on: September 10, 2023, 03:31:34 PM
Well, to start off we can't really force information on other people and ensure that they fully understand what Bitcoin is without them having their own interest, curiosity, and drive to learn about it. From my own experience, I learned that people will find a way to understand something more even without outside factors pushing them to do so. For example, my partner found out about having Bitcoin and my investments, with this my partner got curious about it and started her own research and sometimes asking me questions, as she indulged herself with the information she's getting she then told me that she used to think Bitcoin was all negatives as she heard a lot of stories regarding scams and illegal activities surrounding it, that is until she did her own research and found out the benefits people can get from investing and using Bitcoin.
1184  Economy / Economics / Re: Save your environmental economic cycle on: September 10, 2023, 03:01:22 PM
If you are a person who has money to shop for daily needs, I suggest you buy from merchants around you instead of shopping online whose stores are far from your place. This must be done to turn the wheels of the economy in your neighbourhood and save them from bankruptcy, at least you give them space to live.
Until now, your words or suggestions in your post have helped me to think wiser. In the past, I sometimes often shopped online and ignored several traders around me who charged higher prices than online shops. But now I personally shop more often at local traders who are close to me. Well, this actually also helps their economy. And if the economy of the people around us improves. Then we will also feel the good impact in the same environment. But now traders around me have also started trading in a modern way. Namely by opening an online ordering service. And it can be delivered to my place of work. So this also helps me to stay focused on work without having to leave the office. or leave the house.

It sounds great, but if they sell lower quality products or are more expensive than online stores, will you still buy from them? We want good things for them, but are you sure that they also want good things for us, and are you altruistic enough to help them even if they just want to take advantage of you? We even compete and compare with everyone in our family, so don't try to be a good person in society.

For me, I will buy from a store that sells honest products, reasonable prices and that is the principle in business. If they can't do that then they shouldn't stay in business.

You made a good point here. What if the merchants around my area sell lower quality products and sell them at a higher price? Moreover, there is also the issue of quality and customer service, I mean what if I feel a lot more satisfied buying from online sellers rather than the ones who are around my area? Despite wanting to help these people around my area, I of course don't want to feel like I wasted hard earned money buying something that is low quality.
1185  Economy / Economics / Re: Is market manipulation a common occurrence everywhere? on: September 10, 2023, 02:37:13 PM
Manipulation exists everywhere, especially in the economy or business.  Manipulation is inextricably linked with business. In every sector, those who are big in terms of authority try to manipulate the system.  Market manipulation is done by those who will benefit from it.  I think cryptocurrency is not out of the question.  Besides, there are big whales to manipulate the market from time to time.  But I think even if you manipulate the market it will go back to its own pace later it may be only for short time.
This is true, manipulation can happen anywhere and have different effects. Market manipulation, for example, can have a good effect on others but can also have a negative effect on some. Moreover, market manipulation can be big or small depending on how much changes it may cause. And yes, cryptocurrency can be manipulated in some ways as well.
1186  Economy / Economics / Re: How to developed your capital on: September 10, 2023, 02:18:48 PM
At present most of the youths are most unable to accumulate their capital because they can never observe this properly. The steps taken by the youth to earn their money are lost and spent in various ways. When a person has money he spends more than he needs and once he finds that he has no money he becomes destitute. And some time spend so much money that the saved money is spent and it develops negatively. So saving money and not overspending if they create a capital where people's money will be useful for future, would be a good step. Moreover, if you keep investing, it will be possible to earn good income in the future, so good strategies should be adopted so that a person can preserve his capital well.
Now it might be true that most of the youths are like this, as they prioritize spending more on what they see as needs instead of focusing on preserving their money and making it grow through either investments, business, or doing more work, however, we should not ignore that a lot of youths are also focused on building their own businesses or making money through using technology and the internet with its various potential.
1187  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you risking investment in other things? on: September 10, 2023, 02:01:36 PM
I think if someone is confident in Bitcoin and knows they will be able to make big profits then there will be no other investment they will make other than Bitcoin.
Personally, I think and do that, the main goal of investment is to make a profit, so why do other things that may not necessarily make a profit, whereas we already believe in Bitcoin.
That's not wrong brother but majority of the investors are diversifying in other investments as well. But focusing isn't bad and wrong as well, so if you think that you'll do better focusing bitcoin and won't expand your investments when you profit from it, that's okay.

Yes, that's true regardless of real estate investment because real estate is an investment in the future in real life.
And that's what I am talking about, if you profit from Bitcoin, it is okay to do other investments like real estate. You're just making your money work for you in several ways.
To make it simple, the decision is based on our personal preferences. Some may just stick with Bitcoin and some will choose to venture out to different investments. The thing is, whichever we choose to do we all have one goal in mind and that is to make a profit to attain financial stability. There is no need to put others down if they do not choose the same path as you do, we all have different perspectives and are in different situations after all.
1188  Economy / Economics / Re: Teaching My Nephews About Wealth Through the Game of Monopoly on: September 10, 2023, 12:29:33 PM
Talk about timing, my boyfriend and I have been playing Monopoly almost every night recently. Anyway, going backt your post, although I do agree with your post and some of your post, I would like to know if you were able to tell your kids how at the start of the game everyone owns the same amount of money and are in the same position. Moreover, were you able to tell them that unlike in the real world the players received their initial money without doing anything? These, I believe, are some of the things that should also be discussed to them.
1189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How does an online Foodbetting site sound? on: September 09, 2023, 10:15:51 PM
Eating is like the opposite of a sport.
Who's going to watch people eat for fun?

Believe it or not, competitive eating is a thing. And where there is competition, presumably there is someone out there willing to bet on it.

I remember Nitrogensports.eu having those lines before. Hotdog eating contest and that chicken wings eating contest IIRC. Surprisingly, it got even discussed in the trollbox every so often, and people were kinda interested in betting on those just for fun. I'm sure no one in their sane mind would bet on such event to make money. People are there to have fun and kill time.
1190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do the size and frequency of online casino winnings depend on the time of year? on: September 09, 2023, 08:11:33 PM
I never win that much in casino games, though I have noticed that more wins often come on the latter part of the year for me too, that I usually just deposit and lose to the casino anyway. Perhaps it just so happens that most of the winnings fall at that time of the year because that's when most people have time and more money to play. And because they have more time and more money, they have more chances to win and more games that they log on to their accounts.

It would also help if you personally had a tracker of your gambling losses and wins. You might not be as hardcore as other people out there but it also keeps everything in check, particularly your spending.
1191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is horse racing so unpopular here and a bit of extra feedback on: September 09, 2023, 07:09:45 PM
-snip-
Seems like all three of us were wrong, 1mbtc is not enough!
I opened a prediction game in the games and rounds and I have a 0:50 views to participation conversion rate.

It's either that the sub-forum doesn't get that much exposure or 1 mbtc is not enough to pick six of names!
Or is everyone here too rich to take a chance for 1mbtc, we're all whales of betstreet here?

Perhaps it's just that they're not really that familiar with it at all. Even I will take the chance if I have the time to spare. 1mbtc is still something that adds up eventually if you have them stacked. I guess, it's better to post that prediction game someplace else, or do an introduction here linking that Games and Rounds post to a one here in Gambling Discussion. Or you can place it on your personal text if you really want it to get noticed.
1192  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Over 4 million accounts ng Gcash ay binlock. on: September 09, 2023, 04:07:11 PM

1194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto or Real estate on: September 09, 2023, 11:21:31 AM
To be honest, I prefer to invest first in real estate and after making some remarkable profits, then maybe diversifying with crypto investment is a perfect choice. Bitcoin investment has a higher risk compared to real estate, so the chance to lose more is high which means I have to invest only on the amount I can manage to lose.

This can be a good strategy especially if you have a bigger capital for investment. However, the opposite is what I will advise for those will smaller capitals, invest in Bitcoin first then expand in real estate once you earn a good enough profit. Despite the higher risk in Bitcoin investment, you wouldn't need that big of capital and it wouldn't take that long to see profit as long as you know the right decisions and time to make the investment, as for real estate you have to start with a big capital.
1195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope is all I have left on: September 09, 2023, 11:05:02 AM
For people like us who still struggles to invest money on Bitcoin I want to know if one day, 1 sat can ever cost as much as 1 cent? Is this possible? Sorry I can't afford to dollar cost into Bitcoin like everyone else, it's very hard for me, all I need is hope.

I can only afford to invest into Bitcoin once in two month and that's not every with big money, you should understand my situation, I am too shamed to call a number.

Is there any hope for small Bitcoin buyers like myself? Can 1Sat ever be 1 Cent one day?
There's nothing wrong about your slow investment with bitcoin. Of course, with how our current economy these days, it's hard to prioritize investment over our basic needs. But as long as you are still doing your part, and does not give up on your investment goal, hope will always be there.

I'm not sure as to when 1 sat will turn into 1 cent, but one thing is for sure, your bitcoin investment will never come into waste. Instead, as long as there is hard work and persistency, your bitcoin investment will definitely find its own way to succeed in the future. Just believe in yourself that you can do it and have faith in bitcoin as well.
I agree with you. As much as we all want to be the same as others when it comes to having big investments, it cannot be possible as we have different situations. Some of us have bigger source of income than others and some have multiple investments to cater to so their Bitcoin investment isn't as big. The small investment may take slow to build a profit but that doesn't mean that all OP can do is hope for the best, there is the option to find other sources of income like a side hustle to have a bigger capital for Bitcoin investment.
1196  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: September 09, 2023, 10:39:54 AM
I am in no position to judge someone like Elon Musk, because since the day I was born I've never build anything that's useful for the masses, I always laugh at people who judge those who are 1000 levels above them, like what the hell?

It's too early to call someone like him (Elon) a dumb person because people like him always have their plans and goals, while worrying about if they do something wrong or right why not worry about ourselves?

It's only those who have done something for the world can talk about Elon Musk, you can't be a empty barrel and come out in the open saying that this man ruined Twitter or something, line what the hell did you know anyway?
Though I totally agree with your opinion that someone who hasn't done anything in life shouldn't criticize others, I believe everyone has the right to voice their opinions when they see something happening, and having a discussion about what might have gone wrong isn't really a very bad thing. He is a billionaire, a very successful businessman who has earned his worth all by himself which makes him a self-made billionaire that is on top right now.

However, who says that billionaires don't make mistakes or make wrong decisions? They do, they are normal human beings just like us, so if they make a mistake and people discuss it, I don't really think there is anything wrong with that as long as people aren't saying anything immoral.
Of course billionaires can make mistakes, it can even be argued that it is some of those mistakes that leads them to their path of success. It is also normal for people to discuss and critically analyze their actions and decisions. However, what is not right and normal is acting as if these billionaires are stupid and we are better than them just because they made a questionable decision or did something that does not fall with our beliefs or understandings. Constructive criticism is normal, especially for public figures like Elon Musk, but the public should understand that Musk is a person too and isn't here to pleased us all.
1197  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic and finances start young Age Stablecoins on: September 09, 2023, 10:01:22 AM
Though I can understand the intention and purpose of this, it is vital to conduct a study first. What I mean is that we should know at what age and intensity should children learn about this things. As innovative as it to let our kids learn about this things early, there should be a well researched basis regarding this as it may cause issues (mentally and psychological) to kids if we push them to something that is too cognitively advance.
1198  Economy / Economics / Re: I wonder if food prices in your country have also increased? on: September 09, 2023, 09:32:22 AM
Since August in my country, the price of food, especially food staples such as wheat, rice and others, has experienced a very high price increase. This was apparently caused by the ongoing drought.
But I was wondering if this only happened in my country or in your country too?
We are also experiencing similar scenario in my country too, though the high inflation rate could be attributed to increase in the price of Petroleum products eg petrol, Diesel and Gas following the removal of fuel subsidy by the new government consequently resulted to high cost of food stuffs especially the staple food such as rice, bread etc, manufacturers of food products are not left out because of high cost of production, in a related development with regard to the high cost of rice in my country was linked to insecurity in some farm after some farmers complained of kidnapping by some bandits who usually collect ransom before they are released thus prompted alot of them to quit farming.
I cannot believe that such a thing can actually happen. It seems like it was just possible in the movies or stories we tell our kids about bandits who collects ransoms and kidnaps farmers for money, however it really is happening in real life and is affecting our source of food as it obviously causes fear for farmers, so much so that they are willing to give their source of living.
1199  Economy / Economics / Re: Stable coin or having USD in bank on: September 09, 2023, 08:17:19 AM
My local currency will remain the main choice compared to stable coins, especially when talking in very large amounts, but if the choice is fiat vs Bitcoin of course Bitcoin is the choice even though it will not be above 80%, I mean however we will need fiat as a tool transactions every day so it would be nonsense to put all our money into Bitcoin.
I prefer fiat because stable coins are not as stable as imagined, their value will probably remain 1:1 with USD but the UST case should be a lesson and now BUSD will be exchanged for FDUSD, it will be safe for active Binance users who have BUSD, then what about those who hold BUSD but are not active users of Binance? they will miss out on information and this is quite dangerous for the assets they are saving.
It's true, you can always put majority of your income into Bitcoin and leave a good percentage for fiat for transactions as a lot of establishments either do not accept Bitcoin or have yet to know and understand it. This is what some of us fails tobsee, that we can have both by dividing it wisely based on our average financial transactions.
1200  Economy / Economics / Re: for anyone interested in how much their personal data is worth on: September 09, 2023, 07:39:14 AM
is this standardized? The fact that it's this cheap makes it even less encouraging for people to protect their data, since after all it's dirt cheap!
You should value it based on the effect of losing all privacy and not what your individual data costs and many people are not aware what their data actually costs, they just do not take any effort whatsoever to protect it cause they do not consider it anything that can cost them any real danger.

I will like to know if this valuation is how much different companies value our data or how much it is sold on the dark web.
Exactly, it is not fully about how much it costs, it's how your private data is losing the actual privacy. Often times people may not see the importance of keeping personal information in private but it should always be remembered that once your data is out there it can be accessed and used by anyone for anything even for illegal transactions which can lead to authority's knocking on your door.
