1181  Economy / Speculation / Re: And it begins on: April 30, 2015, 01:18:48 PM
6 hours ago the price soared by 10$,  that's 3% rise! There's a realistic chance that we are going to see such surges every day now. It has happened before, we all know how it goes: slowly but surely the price goes higher every day until it turns into a parabolic rise.
1182  Economy / Speculation / Re: And it begins on: April 29, 2015, 09:31:13 PM
It starts trading on the 18th of May. Is it going to be huge? Perhaps worthy of having its own countdown?
1183  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have USD 2000 to invest. Should I buy Bitcoins or gold? on: April 29, 2015, 01:35:39 PM
you should buy bitcoin for that amount right now! and ask your friend that have $2000 USD to buy bitcoin too , so we will see bitcoin to the moon again  Cheesy

actually you should approach your parents and older relatives and ask them to buy bitcoins too because they are more likely to trust you.
1184  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have USD 2000 to invest. Should I buy Bitcoins or gold? on: April 29, 2015, 07:31:08 AM
I think there's a lot more risk in Bitcoin, but generally I'd divide my assets. 50/50 gold and bitcoin. Or 75% to bitcoin. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Very true, if you pick one, either bitcoin or gold, if one of them goes to zero you are left with zero, however if you have half in each you are left with only half of your initial investment rather than having completely zero. It offers less returns, but less risk.

Diversifying and hedging is something novice traders and investors tend to forget. And that mistake can be a rather big one, if things go wrong. People get all euphoric when the price goes up and they can't even imagine losing their money. If things go wrong, though, there's no going back. Their investment is gone. Peoples' cognitive dissonance prevents them from anticipating this, unfortunately!

I personally have diversified into NuShares (first non-volatile cryptocurrency: nubits) and soon-to-be BlockShares (decentralized exchange) since both of these projects are a lot more than just another altcoin. I must say it feels good to hold different independent assets. On the 14th of January when BTC dropped to 152$ NSR more than doubled its price against BTC which is a clear sign of independence.
1185  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] B&C Exchange – A decentralized exchange - *** LIVE AUCTION *** on: April 28, 2015, 10:05:08 PM
Ok, you say "This mechanism is currently being used with great success in the NuBits and NuShares network." Well, I'm a three months Nushare holder in your six months old Nubits/Nushares system and didn't see in all this time a single dime in dividends. All I have seen is nubits custodians losing funds in hacked/adminrunnered exchanges and Nushares holders being diluted trying to compensate the custodians lost.

I just wanted to say something about this real quick. While all Nu shareholders are entitled to receive a percentage of the dividends based on how large their equity stake is in the network, it is however not guaranteed that dividends will be given at all. In order for there to be dividends, there needs to be profit for the network. Just think of Nu as a decentralized business in this case. No one in the business should receive dividends if there is no profit.

....

Excellent explanation. There's still a lot of work to do but we're pretty much first to enter the competition and these ideas are solid gold. Also, I would rather see the price of NuShares soar than receive dividends. Dividends might sound attractive but in our current state of development they would slow us down too much.
1186  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stay away from bitcoin ! on: April 28, 2015, 08:33:54 PM
Bitcoin changed my life for the better.

No it didn't. Hyena that money was dirty, dirty money that you should never have. Your going to get fired bro.  Cheesy

Thanks to Bitcoin I started to use Linux because all of sudden the security of my PC became a big issue. I learned a lot about economics, investing and financial markets. Oh, and I also learned a lot about consciousness and perception Wink

Thanks to Bitcoin I have hope that one day this parasitic and corrupt banking system will crash and burn and we get rid of paedophiles in the high ranks of politicians and celebrities. You gotta have hope, man!

After various number of hacks a decentralized exchange like that is a must! I hope it gets done quickly because I don't trust centralized exchanges.
1189  Economy / Speculation / Re: The next 24 days are critical on: April 27, 2015, 09:50:21 PM
I wish for $10 - $15 but that will not happen.

definitely won't.

I never understand people who wish (near) single digits. Do you realize that if we had those you would start wishing for even lower prices? Such prices would shock so many people that no one would dare to buy in.

So, let's say it drops down to 15$ and you buy in big time. But wait, then it drops even more down to 1$. You have now lost 93% of your investment. Still a good idea to buy in at 15$?
1190  Economy / Speculation / Re: Falllling is right again, Bitcoin will continue the downtrend on: April 26, 2015, 07:03:23 PM
Oh yeah...

Oh no...
1191  Economy / Speculation / Re: Falllling is right again, Bitcoin will continue the downtrend on: April 26, 2015, 05:42:08 PM
Where are we now? Return to mean? Not even in the despair phase maybe!? I think this will turn out like late 2011: Everyone waiting for sub $2 or $1 coins (in this case $150 and double digits), but in the end there will be a slow but steady trend reversal and climb back up.

+1

200$ today is like 2$ in 2011. We will slowly rise to 400$ - 800$ range (4$ - 8$ in 2012) and have a mini rally to 1200$ (compare to August 2012 when pirateat40 defaulted).
1192  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Kaspersky and INTERPOL Say Blockchain is Vulnerable on: April 19, 2015, 10:48:44 AM
It occurred to me the other day why this may be considered a big deal for Kaspersky.

A lot of AV software is signature-based and still relies on identifying hostile programs before they execute by analyzing the code. A program that contains code that relies on hidden data in the blockchain may be able to evade AV detection slightly easier, especially for users who already have the blockchain stored on their computer. By making it look like the blockchain is what is responsible for this ease-of-evading, they might be attempting to gain empathy from regulators in parts of Europe/Russia that are hostile to Bitcoin.

That said, nothing of what they have brought up is particularly new. And like I mentioned earlier, it presumes that the hostile agent is already capable of executing code on an end user's device.

they may also be worried because of the false positives their AV will give because someone has saved a virus signature in the block chain.
1193  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Kaspersky and INTERPOL Say Blockchain is Vulnerable on: April 11, 2015, 01:14:17 PM
However, I don't really know how they spawned a notepad from block chain in the victim's computer. Does anyone know the details?
They didn't, and it didn't say they did.

All this is saying is that they can put data inside OP_RETURNS which other malicious software can act on.  This is one of the problems with having non-trivial side-channels for non-bitcoin data. The complaint is mostly hype.

Perhaps the real news should be "Kaspersky says they believe they know a vulnerability in Bitcoin, but they failed to responsibly disclose it to the developers and instead wrote press articles on it".

This article is just outright lies because it leaves an impression that block chain itself is the root of all evil when actually the botnet could be operated from anywhere on the internet and block chain is just one way to do it.

using an exploit code that opens a notepad --- this wording is a typical shellcode execution wording because often time the PoC exploits open calc.exe or notepad. this is what confused me the most about this post. If it was really possible to make a bitcoin tx that would spawn notepad in all the computers of the bitcoin's network then it would be a humongous vulnerability Cheesy
1194  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Kaspersky and INTERPOL Say Blockchain is Vulnerable on: April 11, 2015, 12:14:18 PM
"They successfully demonstrated how arbitrary data can be injected into a digital currency decentralized database simply by using an exploit code that opens a notepad enabling corrupted data to be inserted into the Blockchain."

http://bitcoinist.net/kaspersky-labs-interpol-blockchain-vulnerable/

There are just so many things wrong with this claim that I don't know where to start. Exploit code is not needed to save arbitrary data in the block chain. Anyone can save such data and it's perfectly normal and safe. I assume those Kaspersky idiots just wrote a vulnerable application that operates on block chain and then they wrote an exploit for their own vulnerable application. The bottom line is, BLOCK CHAIN IS NOT VULNERABLE. The article is misleading and its authors should be banned from writing any more articles for their high degree of incompetency.

However, I don't really know how they spawned a notepad from block chain in the victim's computer. Does anyone know the details?

You should go at their offices and do something like this:

1196  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have USD 2000 to invest. Should I buy Bitcoins or gold? on: April 10, 2015, 11:05:56 AM
borrow 2000 more and but bitcoins for 4k

There is good advice and then there's advice you shouldn't really give, because it may get people into losing borrowed money. It's alright if you want to go long margin, yourself, but people should be very careful doing so.

Oops, I forgot to mention that those 2k should be borrowed from local drug dealers because their money is probably dirty and they can't sue you for not being able to pay back. WIN WIN!

1198  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp Withdrawal delay?! on: April 09, 2015, 10:27:51 PM
Cor blimey. Give the fella a break. Bank transfers can go wrong pretty easily. There hasn't been a squeak from anyone else about withdrawal problems. Open up a ticket and see what they're saying.

I just want to be fast. You know, when the GOX problem was, anyone thought the same " It is just a week since now, why I should open a thread on bitcointalk/reddit/elsewhere"

When my Withdrawal will come in, I will simply delete the thread and no problem.
When someone else will tell me he got his withdrawal yesterday or today, I will simply delete the thread and no problem.
But if not, I can say I was fast enough to warn the other people.

this is what I would recommend you to do if you don't trust the exchange: sell the coins to someone in your social circle. let them take the exchange risk Tongue offer a small premium to make it more attractive
1199  Economy / Speculation / Re: panic kicking in, sub 200 by friday on: April 09, 2015, 10:18:24 PM
It's Friday in my time zone, 5000 bitcoins should be sold on stamp for the price to drop under 200. not going to happen, OP is a liar.
1200  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp Withdrawal delay?! on: April 09, 2015, 10:07:18 PM
I wouldn't be surprised if bitstamp became insolvent.

Me neither, because I can still remember the 18 000 bitcoins that were stolen from them a couple of months ago. They are probably operating as a fractional reserve exchange, a very fractional one.
