121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer T3+ coming out in China tmrw - 5000 units on: January 03, 2018, 06:00:39 PM
Wow, they're really trying to milk the puppy, They do realize people are buying at ridiculous price based on ephemeral profitability. They are aware that it will probably have faded before they even have to ship the units. Ruthless.

Yea I'm curious to see what happens when all these new comers who are overpaying for miners realize that bitcoin mining isn't as cool/simple as they anticipated.

I'm seeing A LOT of people trying to mine with their new S9 in their 250 square foot NYC apartment with only enough power to run 2 of the three hash boards.

And a lot of people buying sidehack's stick expecting it to mine a whole bitcoin.

My 25$ Sidehack stick wont mine 1 BTC? Crap! Would would of thought  Roll Eyes
I lottery mined with mine for a year but now its collecting dust, hah.
122  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining companies reneging. Canaan? on: January 03, 2018, 05:57:48 PM

I’m taking the Holidays into count here. But like I stated I did order them in October.

Also, I don’t think they’re saying ADIOS! I think they’re saying hey, I know you paid for 43.8 TH but we can’t fill that orders here’s an 11TH machine I doubt they’re going to offer me 4 of these to get 44 TH for what I PAID FOR 6 Avalon 741s considering they’ve upped the price on those 3 times since I placed my order.

Welp, you may be 100% right and i know the feeling of urgency generated from deprecating profits. I guess its more or less the same emotional issue from waiting for Months for ZOTAC to even acknowledge my RMA request Tongue

I guess you're right, they should give you the same hashrate at better efficiency, but i'm not sure Canaan policies are that nice. Hopefully they offer you discounted 821 to fill the order...

They said they’re going to offer a discount on the 821s but I don’t know how much of one. I do know it comes with a 3 month wait however.

Yeah that suck, you could of ROI'd something with that time. =/

Yes.
So maybe the T9+ model has something like 159 chips..

@btc-haze
Thanks for the information!
Btw, can you fix the thread title?
I guess you meant to wrote 'T9+' instead of the 'T3+'?

Yes that basically click baited me here. "The fuck is a T3". Tongue
125  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining companies reneging. Canaan? on: January 03, 2018, 04:48:42 PM
This sounds like a screwup from the distributor and not Canaan.

It also sounds like you have not done your due diligence if you just waited around months for emails instead of following up immediately.

I’ve followed up several times each and every time they’ve told me my order is secured and that I just have to wait.

All of that changed yesterday when they finally after 70 days of lies told me they can’t fill the orders.

I’ve replied to that email twice! And I’ve emailed them 6 times yet to get a response from them directly.

I’m not making this up.

Well, call them man. I doubt they'd reply "Yo we can't fulfill that order, and we're keeping the cash, ciao lol", Canaan would flip if one of their 2 Distributor in NA was skimming by ripping off clients. Maybe take it up the food chain if you really went through all that trouble for a while and not just recently, during holidays period.

Hello, we may be able to come to an agreement, i am in Canada however, if filling the extra field on the USPS form bothers you, then i'm sure you'll find someone in the USA willing to buy it sooner or later.

Expected terms would be payment released once i verify the unit is in good order. I'm thinking i may want to gamble on profits going up in the future ^_^" Let me know.

P.S.; Does the unit has fan control? Its cold as fuck here at the moment so it would be nice to run it quieter.

You can check in freenode in #ethosdistro, you may be able to find someone that can give you a better strap for free or cheap. If you end up getting many GPUs, feel free to hit me up directly, good luck. Smiley
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: inexpensive motherboards for mining on: December 24, 2017, 08:46:07 PM
Apologize if this is the wrong forum to ask.  I was looking at this board GIGABYTE GA-H110-D3A (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 Intel H110 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard basically because it got good reviews and its cheap.

Are there any other sub 100 dollar motherboards with socket 1151 that can do 6 gpu reliably?  This one is out of stock every time I blink.

I use many TB85, its LGA 1150 but the only reason imo to go for 1151 is to get AES ni celerons and that's not really worth it anyways.

I will take the other PSU and R9-280X PowerColor PM me

*nod* 2 months ROI for the GPU is great. I'm not in the US so. Smiley

i got all the pieces except for the "Steel sideplate and hardware for mounting fans".  Any other place to buy this?

I think he had that locally custom built by a metal worker. Maybe if you can get the/some plans you could have that done yourself.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Where to buy Antminer L3+ on: December 23, 2017, 12:31:29 AM
None of the above if you dont want to get scammed. You can buy it from here for and you will be 100% sure that you won't get scammed: https://shop.bitmain.com/antminer_l3_litecoin_asic_scrypt_miner.htm

Does getting a DoA/DUD and then not getting a replacement for months count as getting scammed? Tongue

I agree with you, but thats how things in crypto work. Take some service<insert any service here> and every support needs XX weeks to respond. But again its better to order from main salesman(creators of miners), then from distributor where prices are jacked up. If they(anyone in crypto world with Tech Support, double or trippled their people, there would be no need for XX weeks waiting on ticket time, and everythin' would be perfect, but no one cares for that.

Idk man, had no problem with Caanan and there aren't many ASICs source in the first place, so...
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080SLI or 1080ti on: December 23, 2017, 12:26:46 AM

1080 is not the most efficient equihash mining card - the 1070 ti is - but the 1080 is VERY close when both are set for "best efficiency".

I think you are spreading minsinformation yourself? You're not presenting any numbers, here are my 1070 at upper hash vs 1080 at same power limit;

GTX 1070
GPU0: 448 Sol/s GPU1: 450 Sol/s GPU2: 453 Sol/s GPU3: 453 Sol/s GPU4: 461 Sol/s GPU5: 460 Sol/s
https://i.imgur.com/3RZaqMj.png
2.8 Sols per Watts

GTX 1080
GPU0: 558 Sol/s GPU1: 564 Sol/s GPU2: 558 Sol/s GPU3: 560 Sol/s GPU4: 555 Sol/s GPU5: 557 Sol/s
https://i.imgur.com/lBHgW6d.png
3.45 Sols per Watts

GTX1080 is thus way more efficient *and* more powerful. You can drop the GTX 1070 to 120w and keep >400 Sol's, the efficiency go way up but the GTX1080 at same draw is still 100 Sols higher.

I am a newbie, I don't know how to put pictures in forums. I apologize lol

You post the url to imgur or something. You,re welcome to send me best offer and pictures to me in PM.

Also it may be useful to say where they are shipping from Tongue
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080SLI or 1080ti on: December 22, 2017, 08:04:17 PM
Are your 1080 cards amazingly cheap, or is your 1080 ti amazingly overpriced?

1080 ti normally runs more like 50% higher price than a 1080 of the "same model", not double.

 The REAL debate would be "3 x 1070 ti  vs 3 x 1080  vs 2 x 1080 ti" based on normal pricing I see.

I'm comparing Gigabyte GTX 1080 AORUS x2 (price at my local store is 710$) to Asus 1080 ti Poseidon (price at my local store is 1300). Price matter is only 120$.

Be careful taking replies here for granted, it seem like you got a few people giving misinformation there.

1080 is actually great, just not for eth mining. Both 1080/ti are a good choice for Zcash, but 1070/ti are better for ETH. For current mining Zcash scene, 1080 is more power efficient than all others. You can get 580 sols for 160w~ Its about twice the profitability of the other cards on ETH. Meanwhile the TI version can do over 700 sols with ease but at lesser hash per watts.

But if Equihash was to crash and you would want to go mine ETH, you would have difficulty with the 1080, while the 1080 ti would fare okay.

You will want to take everything you read here with lots of salt, fetch the price, watts and hash of the main algos and compare yourself on https://whattomine.com

Heyah Rocky!  I'm just curious though it's so hard to put trust out there.  The process i was going by was trying to go with a deal with a more senior member of the forum.  Especially with multiple posts within different years.

That provide near 0 protection, accounts that follow these reqs are traded all the time for pennies on your scammed dollars. ^_^"

138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash Difficulty same? on: December 20, 2017, 10:28:36 PM
To be honest i don't care if it would be 10% up or down. If you calculate the amount of Investment it would need to generate the same profit in another Business this is kinda to easy!

It's a traaaaaaaap.

If things go back down and normalize to something sane, and you don't have cheap electricity, then "profit" may never happen in the first place. Imagine Difficulty going up 10% not once, but every 13~ days. And Bitcoin Prices going bubble back down to 3-4k.

Oops, you then realize you came in an incredibly big gold rush that didn't last and now you're f*cked, because not only did the rush not last long enough for ROI, but you also couldnt mine for the first 2 months because your ASIC pre order came in late. In addition, those ASICs are magically all perfectly functional, no dud *yay*, but difficulty over that time doubled, so you make half as much BTC back, and its worth 5 time less, well fuck, i'm actually earning 90% less than expected. Fun world.

Good luck. Smiley
139  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: IBM DPS-4KW PSU (Dual DPS-2000BB) Breakout Boards and Packages!!! on: December 20, 2017, 04:36:29 AM
I sourced my own parts, at least, PSU, board, cable, tie wrap. I'm wondering if there is a safer way to hold the 2 PSU strongly together, than i came up with? (Tie Wraps)

Because with a bit of push they move apart a little and the back of the board threaten to short with only a 3mm disparity. At a data center they were rock solid and i didnt think to pay attention to what was holding them together.

@Finksy if you still read this thread, i hope you're recovering.
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Old appropriate system for mining on: December 19, 2017, 07:24:48 PM
Hi guys, if I open this topic wrong place I'am sorry I am new in this forum.

I have a computer that I have not used for a long time
detailed specs. are as follow;

  • Amd phenom 9550 processor
  • 4GB DDR2 Ram
  • amd r9 270 grap. card

Is this appropriate computer for mining ?

Right, You can't mine Bitcoin without ASICs these days, so this would belong in the Altcoins section, which encompass any coin that is not "Bitcoin".

And to answer your main question, Curacao GPUs do decent on XMR monero cryptonight, but dont expect wonders from one gpu, especially that one.
