821  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 19 to Mar 3? picks are closed.... prize = 0.2 btc on: March 03, 2016, 11:44:14 AM
Well Yesterday we ended up at +9.03% 157 Blocks which is the most we have seen this Period, so it looked like some Hash had been added, however this Morning I am not so certain. We have got off to a very slow start with Today's run rate at -19% so I think we might just be seeing some big variance swings?

For the Period we are back in the -4% to -5% band that we have been tracking for 4 days now albeit at the top end -4.2%. However there is still a small upward trend so I think the end point will be in the -3% to -4% range.

Rich

Did i say +4.2% I meant -4.2% Tongue Jk

With Eth exploding upward, i'm wondering what it will do to the BTC price. At the very least its going to divert a portion of the growth away.
822  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Looking for S7 and S5 At Best Price! on: March 03, 2016, 11:39:20 AM
Are there no resellers here in the US? I'm not seeing real group buys. Anyone wanna point me in the right direction?

Scrapp'

Thats because there's no point in doing group buys at all. Bitmain offer like a silly 3% off on order of 500 units+. Also S5 havent been produced for a while now.

Since there's virtually no difference on the price per Unit if you buy one or by the ton, group buys won't happen.
823  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: March 03, 2016, 04:56:24 AM
The S7 is just TOO MUCH POWER in one unit Sad. Make S9 like S1 plz.

You wish. But Bitmain abandoned the small convenient home miner scene at the S3. And the U3 is just cash grab using chip leftovers.
824  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon6 Fan replacement? on: March 03, 2016, 04:55:14 AM
I would advise to first look for exact fan model as your option: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Delta-12038-FFC1212DE-12V-2-4A-server-fan-DC-Brushless-Fan-Cooling-Fan/542666457.html
It would be better if you use this one instead of using other fans in which some might have slower RPM and some stronger which each could give some little complication as result.

Hmm okay thanks. For now i used hot glue to make it fit in place and its fairly better, but i'd like to find a replacement in the near future. If no one come up with a cheaper/closer solution for that fan, i might buy it from there.

I don't know about cheaper but I would look for it on Amazon or somewhere else possibly if you are wanting it in a timely manor.  That listing guarantees 60 day's from china.  So you might be lucky and get much quicker.

But guaranteed date is not so good on timeline if you need it in any sort of hurry.  15 - 40 day estimate is just a huge range they picked.

I can't find any "FFC1212DE" around. And its not like i really need it in a timely manner, i could leave the hot glued one run for a long time i think its more a matter of proper-ness or resale.

Its just that if i order from China, it might not get here before i move, lol.

Sanyo ace makes a good substitute I use them on my rev 2 avalon6s

Maybe you can find them on Canada eBay.

I havent tried one on a A6.  But I did have good luck on S4's using them as replacements.   They were one of the recommended ones there and actually were faster then stock S4 fan's.  - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204199879-Antminer-S4-fan-specification-and-possible-replacement-fans

So I have nothing against Sanyo.   They seemed to work well for the price.  For full resale you are probley right about getting same model.

I may also keep them for a year. If these become like the Avalon 4, where you downclock them when you want silence, later on. Then i'll still want even cooling for less noise. Either way i guess i'll move, then order one. It should be here before the bad of the summer hit.
825  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,JP on: March 03, 2016, 04:52:33 AM
...
Is 10% a goal or some self imposed max size?

In an ideal world, all pools would be smaller than 10%.  However, that isn't the world we live in.  As long as there are pools that control ~ 25% of the hashrate, I can't see any reason why you guys shouldn't be one of them.  Please don't say 10% will be some self imposed limit!

Self imposed limit.  At this point we'd have to more than triple in size before we'd be at 10%   There is quite a while before we get there Smiley

What do you then? Close the registrations and thus growth would be limited to the big players that keep expanding that are already registered?
Nah, I'd close the registrations and thus growth would be limited to the small players that keep expanding Cheesy

Yeah just kidding.

But the point would be that indeed, I would close the registrations.
After that we'd see how it grows with the user base we have, vs difficulty.

It's certainly not a hard limit that has no flexibility, but it is a limit at which I would intervene.
i.e. we'd never get to 15% unless someone with a VERY large hash rate was already a member of the pool and pointed that VERY large hash rate here instead of somewhere else.

After 10%, if over time we started heading back towards 9% then I'd allow registrations again.

I'm not gonna force people off the pool, but I don't want the pool to keep rapidly expanding once we reach 10%

And your reasons for this are the belief in the importance in distribution of the hash rate? (Either that or Infrastructure i guess)

It sound like a good thing but that probably mean more hashrate for China, after we reach 10%, assuming we reach 10%. It would be a good example that probably would not be followed. I think the predominant desire in most pool operators is Greed.

Then again all you can do is your best.

Block by dance191!  That would be his 4th on the Acclaim Board!  Way to go!

Thanks, but really all the credit goes to the pool operators! Smiley  I have found a couple blocks in almost as many days with ~ 320 TH/s, the luck here is really impressive...

On a side note, I am working on getting a lot speed pointed to this pool in a few weeks ~ few months.  There is no reason this pool shouldn't be one of the largest, it is just a matter of time.  Good job Kano & CK, you guys have created something really impressive!!!
The more you bring over the closer we get to 10%
Sounds good Smiley

Heh, the credit goes to each little piece of miner hardware that finds it's block, but it is completely random of course.
But then the pool for making sure it gets out there on the rest of the bitcoin network as fast as possible Smiley

looking for dead bodies of ANTMINER S5+ chickens)

You are buying dead units?

Dead bodies? What? The heatsink, husk or the boards? I got some dead boards, i could sell one and the other with Sidehack's permission i guess.

Are your dead boards from S5 or S5+?   Normally it is harder to find dead ones of S5+ just was not a ton of them sold in that public batch.

It was one of my favorite miners though... it was one I was sad to part with.  It commonly went over a month.  For those with "cheap" or "free" electricity I highly recommend theses if your able to get them.

S5* I'm not sure what that user was trying to say, kinda of sound like "Looking for dead bodies of S5 and chickens. Maybe he'll reply and reiterate, or not...

829  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: best mining hardware in aprox 1btc. on: March 02, 2016, 09:36:22 PM
Since you have a free electricity, it always will be profitable for you as long as your miner doesn't crash before you get ROI on it. Around that you could fins some Antminer S4 (I'll put some links below) or you could also go with two Antminer S5 if you find good deals. A reminder that it would be better to wait for the halving to go underway and let prices of miners drop after it before you go and buy since more efficient miners will come out.

http://www.amazon.com/AntMiner-~2000Gh-0-69W-Bitcoin-Miner/dp/B00NWHT18A
http://zoomhash.com/products/antminer-s4-miner-2-0ths

I'd even be inclined to consider selling two Antminer S5 to OP depending on where he lives, because of shipping conditions. Should be ROI-able before halving and then no idea what BTC will look like then but at least he'll have profited marginally + have existing hardware.

831  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what do I use nowadays - Avalon Nano USB stick 4.3GH/s? on: March 02, 2016, 08:48:19 PM
It is too little to mine BTC (4.3GH/s) - solo mining or what should I do with this?

You can use it as a lottery ticket, but it is very little hashrate. Your odds of finding a block are better than winning the lottery, not that this says a lot.

833  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what is mining difficulty how its increase or decrease? on: March 02, 2016, 05:01:08 AM
yesterday i was calculating profit of 60ghs hardware.but i found that someone told me that its also depending on mining difficulty.. but i think its too hard to find it.and now mining going unprofitable for me..help me.

Its not rocket science. If the total network hashrate double, your BTC earning is cut in half and so on. And then you multiply your BTC earning by the BTC value vs your currency of choice.

Here's 2 calculators i use;

Does anyone know if the Ethernet port on the S7 is 10/100 or 10/100/1000 ?

and second

Has anyone had a BeableBoneBlack (the controller/logic board on the S5's and S7's) go bad and you stuck a full featured, retail version of the BBB on the miner? Did it work?

You can buy retail BBB from Bitmain so yes. But you're assuming the daughter/IO board would be in perfect working condition to do so.

I think its 10/100 but it doesnt really matter.
835  Bitcoin / Mining support / Avalon6 Fan replacement? on: March 02, 2016, 03:07:00 AM
So when i received my second hand Avalon i hear a rattling sound and i just jiggled the miner a bit and it mostly went away, i didnt feel like opening up the miner to find out what it was.

But lately the cooling performance was fucked and uneven, so i opened it up and found out what the problem was;

Anyone know what the optimal replacement for this to be obtained to Canada? Would a S1/S3/S5 fan replacement work fine? I can get one of those for about 20$
836  Economy / Lending / Re: Collateral Question on: March 02, 2016, 02:42:08 AM
Hello,

I do have a question is it possible to use like a Xbox live account and destiny account as collateral if you are high rank in the game?

Thanks

If the loaner somehow is interested, but its not easy to sell and does not have much value. A collateral is usually something easy to sell and worth more than the loan.
837  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB][To Canada] A couple more GPU Rigs frame like this one on: March 02, 2016, 02:27:14 AM
Anyone has some of these laying around?;

<clipped image>
I'd like more of these, since they're neat and stackable. If not and you have something similar, let me know.

nice setup.
care to share which motherboard is shown running 5 cards?
I've got Asrock970 extreme4, but someone posted elsewhere that they had difficulty running five GPUs on it, but four were OK.
Something to do with one of the long slots not playing nice with the others, but maybe it is incorrect.
I did not try myself yet.

please comment.

This is Chronikka's rig PSU. He did sell me the Frames though and some Mobos. The mobos are h81 btc pro, theres 5 small slots and 1 16x, it should be able to run 6, right now i'm using the 16x without any problems but i do not have 6 GPUs on it yet.

I think the gpu limitation is a Windows 7 (limit = 4) Windows 8 (limit = 5) thing. W10 should work and so would Linux.

Its been slow today, i buy stuff all the time but today it didnt confirm yet and Newegg sent an automated message saying the BTC payment failed. Tongue They only wait 3 hours with Bitpay.
839  Other / MultiBit / Re: What is meant by"Partially Paid" in the transaction list of a multibitHD wallet? on: March 02, 2016, 01:06:36 AM
Please can you explain?, What is meant by "Partially Paid" in the transaction list of a multibitHD wallet? What happens to the BTC? and any other info you can add.

Do you have a screenshot? I never seen that, but when i create a receiving address i do not set a value. Its possible that if you set a value, you didnt not receive the value you set, thus it says Partially Paid.

Thats typically what you will see also if you buy something with BTC and have not paid in full the invoice.
840  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 60 batch 1 KNC Neptunes (Canada) with or w/o EVGA 1300 PSUs on: March 02, 2016, 12:54:29 AM
Why don't you sell the PSU seperately from the miners. Many people on here would buy those EVGA 1300W PSUs. $100 per PSU is like $12,000 right there, already 50% higher then your highest offer.

Well its a lot of hassle selling everything separately. Sure i'd buy 2, i'd offer 180$ shipped. But then doing that for 120 PSU's is going to be a full time job for a while.
