921  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,JP on: February 25, 2016, 04:28:59 AM
hi everyone..I'm newbie in mining, but waiting for my s5 reaching this Saturday.. After a week of research I've decide to buy a s5 and join in ckpool..  But I've a couple of question.. Is it too little hash rate for joining ckpool with 1150g/s?.. So, I just have to keyin the stratum that listed below to get my s5 work? .. Im person with no fate with lucks, would it better for me joining other pool?
Because I tried google how to point s5 to ckpool seems not getting any..
stratum+tcp://stratum81.kano.is:81
stratum+tcp://stratum443.kano.is:443
stratum+tcp://stratum8080.kano.is:8080

Appreciate if any answer helps.. Sorry for my broken English..

A S5 is plenty fine.

-Connect to the S5
-Click miner configuration
-Add pool url ="stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333"
-Worker = "YourUsername.WorkerName"
-Password = "x"

The complete instruction are all on Kano's main page;
https://www.kano.is/
@Virosa, thanks for the help. But there's few more question overcome..
The miner will automatically point to nearest server? I'm from Malaysia, Singapore should be nearest.
Average how much earning I could get with a s5 turned on 24/7/365?
Kinda confused with pplns system.. But what I found its the best with payout if the pool got lucks.

Use a calculator;
Simple; http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator
Complex; https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

You can replace the URL to connect to the server location you want when they're up. You might want to keep the main URL as failover if you do.

The pool hashrate is increasing over that period.  The pool hashrate goes up, your hashrate stays the same, your percentage of the block goes down proportionally.

The pool hashrate goes up, we find more blocks, you get paid more often, but a smaller amount.

The pool continues to have awesome luck, you make more here than other unluckier pools.

I was talking about my N avg, I don't know if you can see the imagen on my post.

Go to Worker -> Shift Graph. I'm guessing you'll see a downtime where your miner was not mining at Kano. Thus your average N over 2 days will have dropped?
923  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB Antminer S5 on: February 25, 2016, 12:54:09 AM
Looking to purchase 1 Antminer S5 with power supply last I saw the where going for around 185. Let me know if you have anything to offer.

Must be trusted seller and have pictures of unit and stats. Escrow will be based off sellers rep.

Thanks

I posted all the information on my S5s in my sale thread;
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1359051.0

But i was getting bad offers and now i found a way to just keep and run them.

I also assume shipping to the US, since i assume you're in the US, would bring the deal outside your price range. But you're welcome to make an offer and i'll run the math. I'm guessing if you wanted to miners shipped to Allinvain, or some Canada hosting solution, it could work out nicely.
924  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I want to mine on my Oven' NEMA 14-50r on: February 25, 2016, 12:14:48 AM
Today i received the PDU. I overbought the power strips, i though it was 1 strip per purchase, but they come by two and each has 1 plug, so i only needed 2 pack of 2, i got 4. But considering they were 20CAD per pack of 2, its not a big deal. I guess i'll have what i need if i buy another PDU.

I opened up the Hubbel twist lock 50A. Its 3 wire. Green, Black, White. I'm guessing this is the old code, which means the White should be Red? Thus. Those are my two 120V ungrounded (White and Black). And Green is Ground?

So if i understand correctly. The White wire (120V) should go in the Red connector (120V). The Black (120V) in the Black (120V). The Green in the Green (G). And new Plug's 4th pin, the White pin, which is Neutral can be ignored.

I knew something wasn't right there
hated to openly accuse him of it but every time I look at someones trust page I see people getting accused of impersonating established Escrow people

got someone mad at me cause I would just rush and send $300 to that guy's BTC account
well at the moment im really glad to be a bit paranoid

Gj on your common sense. You never trust someone to tell you where to send money, you always deal with the Escrow directly, you never deal with an Escrow through someone, thats the whole purpose of an Escrow in the first place. The Escrow is the one you deal with, the Escrow will deal with the other person.
926  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] PCI-e cables 18 or 16 gauge [EU] on: February 24, 2016, 09:35:47 PM
I'm currently in need of some PCI-e cables male-male of just male to bare wire what ever you may have. I am willing to buy 16 at a time and I'm also in a hurry Smiley

PM me with whatever you may have.

Do you mean Female connectors?

Its usually what people need for mining with modular PSU.

If so, depending on if you are in North America or Europe (whichever you're closest to).

There's Finksy (Canada) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=347946
klondike (USA) i think https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=76725
J4bberwock (France) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=206446

And probably some other but i've dealt with the first two for all my cables needs in the past, maybe they will have what you need in stock still.

I'm going to be getting another PSU shortly, this was just one to get me started.
I do think this PSU has another rail though. as I was able to get both of the blades running on this psu without underclocking the freq.
Or maybe it can just actually handle what it's rated at. who knows.

http://imgur.com/CdWMyQI

Just check if any of the connectors, at any stages, including the adapter runs hot. If not you're good to go even though its a crap PSU, it should be able to handle the 400W~ DC load.

Where do you get those prices from!?? In the EU an s3 used costs something like 300usd!!!

Lutzov: I ser the point of course. Profits trend to get lower. And comprensive about that.
I start to understand that, this is a question of strategy, balancing with care the costs and winnings.

EU Vat's kill almost any deal on mining gear.  Just so high it adds to prices and makes your miners higher.  There are some that lie on VAT... but personally fraud is not something I would go for.

You are better off with a hosting center.  I will be cheaper than you electricity you pay, and also can find one with no/cheap vat.  So gear is cheaper and makes a huge difference all the way around.

Maybe i could sell him some S5's and ship them to Allinvain xD
I dont know what hosting price he could get but it would definitively be much better than buying one in Europe and running it. Afaik getting a miner there is super expensive and the electricity is prohibitive.
930  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [Help] Antminer S1 peaking 32 GH/S on: February 24, 2016, 04:33:47 PM
Could check if you could spread the load on the multi rail properly. If you tried to put the whole load on one rail it will shut down to self protect. Ironically lowering your clock when i mentioned you were probably trying to run full clock on a undervolted S1 would of probably given you the best hashrate Tongue

I believe that's what I did, could I modify a molex that's on another rail? I'm not sure how to tell.
As far as undervolting/underclocking I'm just trying to get it to run as if it were stock, I'll deal with all that later.
In my first post you could see I was getting a lot of HW errors running a full clock on it while it was undervolted. Was that probably why?

Like i said, you were trying to run too high clock on a modded S1, you needed to change the timing and clock based on the chip voltage. Not remove the mod. Voltage is what the pen modded resistors changed.

Thats why i said to lower the clock and change the timing. You could of possibly gotten near full speed but saved 100W or lost 25-30% hashrate but use 60% less power. Its just too late to check what clock it was meant to run at by the previous owner now.

Until you can put the mod back, all you can do is figure out how to spread the load on your PSU and underclock it so it doesnt overload it. Some molex to pci-e works, some doesnt. If you have a 2 molex to 1 PCI-e adapter, you might be able to run 1 blade on it slightly underclocked without melting the connectors.

Here, i guess? I'd sell you a S5 for less than that, so yeah, maybe the S3's were worth that much when they came out, but thats forever ago in Bitcoin term. And its still a long time ago in human years.

lock the other thread and

drop the freq to 200 or 180

I really wish you did not  erase the pencil mod

what is your psu?

show me a photo as I can't tell if it is any good.

I found this link your psu is shit  2 rails

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/347187-33-will-power-supply-handle-7970
Other thread locked, someone moved it, I wasn't aware.

I already erased the pencil mod. I'll deal with undervolting it after I get a multimeter and can do it myself.

yeah I already figured the PSU was shit, think it would work if I just underclocked it for now?

yes  go to freq 175 it should work.  a few years ago I wrote a lot on this mod and how to set freq there are threads about it.

Batch 11 is shipping.

Yours shipped?  Shows Mar 1-5th  shipping.   I have a few more units on order but no shipped date yet.

I've had and seen B9 shipped early as well. They seem to mostly, maybe, probably go by order date. I mean that if you bought early and they decide to ship out some stuff early, you'll be first in line.
934  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Preparation for taxes on: February 24, 2016, 03:01:29 PM
What if mining does become the main source of income, do I still need to file for taxes?

That solely depend on the laws regarding income, taxes and Crypto in your country. In Canada, its not legal tender, so i have to declare capital gains regarding it. For instance if i buy 100 Bitcoin over the course of a year for 40000 and sell for a total of 40500$ then i have a 500$ that i should declare as an "Other Income".
935  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is there any profit? on: February 24, 2016, 02:55:16 PM
I could have a way of getting "free power" at least for 2 S7. more than that wold be tricky. But even that, in 6Months i would get only 2000. that is not even half of the investment. at 1.200USD plus PSU.
probably i should wait for the halving. and see what to expect. The halving is expected in 156 days. Until there....

That wouldnt be too bad at all if you get two S7 for 1440$. You could also try to get 5 S5 for 700$ total. Maybe 8 S3 for 400$ total.
936  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is there any profit? on: February 24, 2016, 02:00:41 PM
In your POV with your know how, what should i do to get in now and get some part in return?
whats your best advice?. (if there is any point in getting in now).

Very hard to say. If you find a deal on the marketplace where its a bunch of S5's for example, for cheap, hosted and you run the math and would get ROI in 3~ Months on current income, then maybe.

If its something like 5+months ROI dont even bother, it would be too risky.

If you can find a deal for free or cheap electricity though, thats another story and it change the angle completely. If you get that, then we'll have a whole different conversation.
937  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [Help] Antminer S1 peaking 32 GH/S on: February 24, 2016, 01:58:04 PM
Now that you,ve removed it, you're gonna have to grab a multi meter and make it even on both sides. Or you'll get one board not being run at the right timeout/freq. And its possible, the load can do 400-500W, so i'd need to know what the PSU is.

Ah wouldn't you know it, I left my multi meter in my other pants!  Wink

But in all seriousness though I'll have to get one, good thing there's a home depot less than a mile away!
and the PSU is a pretty old "Xtreme Gear 700w ATX Power Supply" Its from an old cyber power pc that was built a few years ago.

I see, it should still work for one S1 even running at 400Hz. Unless its damaged or its a multi rail PSU, cant be arsed to check. You could underclock the miner to 200hz just to see if it then works.
938  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is there any profit? on: February 24, 2016, 01:24:43 PM
Even hosting in a "remote place where electricity is cheap" would be a penny deal.
Since you would have always the price of the building, electricity, maintenance etc.
I do not know the percentages of the pool yet, but in paper the acquisition of an S7 is the best option and will bring you more return.

With the actual price of BTC, and if it kept in the 100USD profit, in 12 months should be payed.

Welp, it wont. Difficulty will continue rising and then there's the Bitcoin halving in a few months that will halve your return. I'm sure difficulty will go down a bit and there's good chance Bitcoin will go up, but its not going to compensate fully, theres no way, unless the Bitcoin price explode, but then its going to be another temporary gold rush.

But especially with the 0.1J/GH stuff coming out... and its actually already out for some... I think S7's are not a good deal unless you get them cheap.

Anyways, stable payout is not going to happen.

Getting hosting at 0.06$/kWh and get somethings like cheap S5 is by far your best chance to ROI before halving. After that point, its all very wild guesses.

Is there any Prepaid Gift Card Payment Processor for outside US traders?

I tried SquareUp but it doesn't allow me to process cards.

Any other?
you mean cards like paysafe cards ?

Do paysafe accept Bitcoin? And can you carry your balance/left overs from previous card to your new ones? Or is there a central balance you can recharge?
no , paysafe card could be exchange for bitcoin, but you cant load it with.. and yes it's available for outside US traders..

I see, i thought it would. If it doesnt it doesn't belong in the Bitcoin section is what i was thinking. So i was hoping it did, it would be a nice way to buy stuff off Ebay or whatever.
