121  Economy / Economics / Re: Building wealth it's not just one time Luck on: September 16, 2023, 05:25:31 AM
I understand what you are trying to say. Relying on luck is like hoping to win the lottery (with impossible odds) to get rich. Yes, there are few people that get lucky and become rich over night, but the numbers are very few. Like 1 in a 100,000 people maybe. The rest actually ends up losing more when relying on luck to make money. Look at how many people have lost their savings and almost everything when investing on some shitcoin hoping that it will go x1000 in few days. A lot! Consistent effort, smart choices, and understanding what you are doing and where you are investing is the key to building your wealth and yes.. a little luck.
122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some of country can offer you legal gambling in 2023! on: September 16, 2023, 02:38:53 AM
I am sure there are more than those 5 or 6 countries that you have mentioned where gambling is legal. The list you gave it makes it look like gambling is not allowed in rest of the world and it is a crime to gamble.... Pretty much sure only few countries have banned gambling, while some might have some restrictions where you can play only on certain government regulated casinos.
-snip-
What do you feel from this that gambling is less ethical?
Less ethical? Why do you think it is less ethical? As long as you aren't harming yourself or others through addiction, it is fine. There are lots of people that gamble for fun. People should be free to choose if they want to gamble or not. It's their money after all.
123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Top 5 Gambling Strategies on: September 16, 2023, 02:04:31 AM
I get the appeal of these strategies that people run after, but here's the deal: No strategy is going to give you a guaranteed win. In the long run, the house always has the edge, no matter what approach you take. It's all about luck really in the end. I am not denying that some strategies might help momentarily or make you feel in control, but you should remember that no matter what, you won't be able to beat the house. Imagine if it was possible. Everyone would follow those strategies and the casino's would go bankrupt.
Your title is top 5 but you only mentioned three so I guess you want us to go to that link for us to see the remaining two.

Likely promoting his site so we click it and read it there.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I took a proposal to my State Governor to accept Bitcoin Technology on: September 15, 2023, 09:36:19 PM
That's a nice thing to do and glad to hear that your state government was actually keen and interested in your proposal. But based on what you proposed, I think you wanted your schools to integrate and teach blockchain to the kids. I guess education is strictly regulated on your country and adding anything new requires approval from the government? But yeah, not a bad thing to teach the kids. I mean the basic is enough. They don't need to learn the complex stuffs associated with blockchain. That would just make them "hate" the subject more. But I do applaud the steps you are taking to make it more main stream in your country.
125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How will you feel if it happens to you just like this? on: September 15, 2023, 08:54:24 PM
People like those (me) who don't gamble for fun have this question to answer: how will you feel when you don't have money to stake a game that you predicted and better winning games you predicted played the way you predicted it and when you checked the winning was something that could have changed your life for ever if you didn't gambled again after such winning?

This question can be very tough to answer, but believe me, many people won't stop thinking of that if it happened to them, so I want to know your opinion about how you would feel if it happened to you.

If it happens to me, I can't stop thinking of it, but definitely one day I will stop thinking about it and see it as history or not yet, my time for big wins just like how it happened to me when I lost a bet that would have given me long-term smiles.
This is called gambling. You shouldn't regret for missed opportunities when it comes to gambling. Imagine the opposite. The things that you predicted and the exact opposite happens. Wouldn't you feel relived? Wouldn't you be grateful that you didn't place the bet? And you can't regret like this. It's like placing a small bet in dice and then rolling over 99.98 and then you are thinking why didn't I place a larger bet with a higher payout option. Gambling is all about risking. You place the bet, you win or you lose. It's no use of imagining "what if this or that".
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be rich sheeple or free people, what's your choice? on: September 15, 2023, 06:03:40 AM
-snip-

- Bitcoin gets accepted everywhere, every government legalizes it, all mining is centralized, everyone must register every address with the local IRS, you're not allowed to send money outside legal addresses and miners are refusing those, every single transfer is taxed, the government can decide at any point to seize your coins and can do that with ease. BUT the value will go up 1000x times to 30 big ones!
- Bitcoin is not legal tender, but the genie makes it so that the government has no way and no intention of making any move against it, nobody is banning you from owning, nobody is taxing you, nobody cares about your KYC, AML, taxes, profit, any legal action against anything that involves Bitcoin is impossible and illegal, any seizure impossible as it would break the law, you're as free as one can be. But the price stays forever at $30,000.

No middle way, no trick, no further questions, no this or that, your choice and tell me why this and not that!
1. I guess most would choose this option. Like look at everyone right now. Most of them invest to make profit. They all eventually sell their coins and enjoys their profit in "fiat" currencies. And we already see a lot of people using centralized exchanges or wallets. Their coins can be seized anytime. So those people won't actually notice any difference, other than some "extra" paperwork (which I also think will automatically be done by the exchanges/wallets). A quick 1000x profit for them.

2. No action taken against individual involved with bitcoin? No AML, KYC or taxes? This option will be taken by those that are actually involved in illegals stuffs. For them, the value of bitcoin won't matter. So if the price is $30,000 they are fine with it. Taxes wouldn't be a problem for someone who chooses the first problem. So like I said, most likely this option will be preferred by criminals.
127  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: September 15, 2023, 05:54:37 AM
We live in a society where people have different views about something and these views could be drawn based on different constituent like personal sentiment, religion, ideology and experience. And speaking of gamble there are those that view it as an irresponsible activity to embark on and whoever is into it is tag as irresponsible guy, for some it beyond being irresponsible but a sin something that is evil,  while some others out of an ugly experience of a loved one that got ruined by it due to extreme addiction.

These factors has made a number of gamblers to keep their gambling habit a secret doing all they could not to let friends and family  know they gamble. And it does seem like they ain't proud of what they're doing.

But why continue in what you're not proud of by keeping it secret cause maybe you're worried about what people may say, how their thoughts about your person might change. Or how you might loose ties with someone you hold dear to. And many other reasons that follows.

Those that keep their gambling habit a secret is it that they're not proud of what they are doing?.
Doesn't matter what others think. They can't enforce their believes and preferences on you. If they think gambling is evil and a sin, then as long as they aren't gambling, it is fine. But they shouldn't judge others. If they know you well, they know that you aren't harming anyone by gambling and it shouldn't affect them. And anyways, it shouldn't matter what others say. But if you are keeping it a secret because you know what you are doing is wrong (addiction, stealing, wasting others money), then yes, it time for you to stop gambling and talk to your closed ones about your secret gambling issues.
128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of advice is worth giving such people? on: September 15, 2023, 05:47:36 AM
I have read some painful stories online about Bitcoin fans that lost their Bitcoin to hacks more than once and how they gave up because of the hacks, this made me curious about people on the forum, I will like to ask you guys how many times you have lost Bitcoin to hacks or your own mistakes, and why are you still not giving up.

Can you keep buying bitcoin if you have already get hacked like twice or more in the past?

Like a story about an American who lost his love for Bitcoin because of the hacks, I believe it's because of his own carelessness though, because you can't leave your wallet on a bench outside your home and not expect someone to steal it, and you come out and say your wallet was stolen by a thief, like what do expect?

What advice is worth passing out to people who have lost their Bitcoin more than once and are on the hedge of giving up?
Lost once? Fine. Twice, alright no problem. He can learn from it. But getting hacked and losing your coins multiple times? That's not a good sign. He is doing something wrong and is not learning from his mistakes. He is being very irresponsible with his coins. I doubt he capable of handling his own finances.
What you can say to him is to learn how to keep his coins safe. Learn how to "USE" the internet and its dangers. Before investing again, tell him to make sure he follows all the steps that is necessary to keep his wallets safe!
129  Economy / Economics / Re: Having a problem a Personal Finance? on: September 09, 2023, 02:38:07 PM
-snip-
here are some things that can help you in this matter, and some of them are:

[a.] Read books related to personal finance.

[b.] Always hang out here on the Bitcointalk forum; you can see and learn a lot from this platform.

[c.] Watch videos that can give you inspiration to become better. And mingle with people who have a positive outlook on life.
Got some nice points, but it is not always valid and it is not as easy as you think. For some people, no matter how much they try, its very difficult for them to to solve their financial problems. You can mainly blame the economy of their country and the shit government they have.
1. Reading books will never solve your personal financial problems. Maybe it might help you improve a little by giving you suggestions what to do, but it won't completely get rid of your problems.

2. I doubt Bitcointalk forum is the best place. It's a crypto currency related forum where most people give you suggestions related to crypto. If someone posts about their financial problem, I bet, 90% of the replies will be suggesting him to invest in crypto (even though he can't afford to).

3. Nah, videos won't do anything. Avoid those so called financial influencer at all cost.
130  Economy / Economics / Re: Stable coin or having USD in bank on: September 09, 2023, 08:02:33 AM
Depend on the situation. Someone that doesn't have access to the bank can use a stable coin to save money and use that wallet as his "personal bank account". But are people in his country/area willing to accept those stable coin? You should also know that not all stable coins are safe. Some are much riskier to hold. Like you said, look at what has happened to Terra stable coin. It crashed. Lots of people holding UST lost their money. Again, what if you want to pay for something but that person won't accept crypto currencies? It would be a hassle and slow to convert to and fro. Most people hold and use stable coin to trade and exchange coins instantly.
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope is all I have left on: September 09, 2023, 07:45:17 AM
For people like us who still struggles to invest money on Bitcoin I want to know if one day, 1 sat can ever cost as much as 1 cent? Is this possible? Sorry I can't afford to dollar cost into Bitcoin like everyone else, it's very hard for me, all I need is hope.

I can only afford to invest into Bitcoin once in two month and that's not every with big money, you should understand my situation, I am too shamed to call a number.

Is there any hope for small Bitcoin buyers like myself? Can 1Sat ever be 1 Cent one day?
Doesn't matter if 1 sat will worth 1 cent one day or not. As long as you can afford to buy 1 sat, buy it (and I am sure you can afford more than 1 sat today). No one here can tell you if 1 Sat is going to be 1 cent or not, but what if it does end up happening? What if it happens within a week? You will miss your opportunity and then you will start regretting like the most of the people that didn't invest in bitcoin when it was few cents. You would be thinking that it would have been better if you bought few satoshies instead of making this thread. As long as you can afford to invest and hold, do it. Don't wait for anything.
132  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: September 09, 2023, 07:13:37 AM
I don't gamble much (almost not at all), but when I do, I gamble for fun. I don't think anyone should gamble because they "don't" have sufficient money. That's one of the worst reason to gamble and it will only cause them to have "not sufficient money" to no money at all. Anyone that gambles to get lucky and become rich are taking a huge risk. They might face difficulties paying the bills today, but if they start gambling, tomorrow they will have nothing at all. Life might end up becoming much more harder for them.
There are better ways to invest the money no matter how small the investment is. But gambling isn't one.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My first sell with cypto after some months of introducing crypto as a payment on: September 09, 2023, 06:45:20 AM
I introduced Crypto payment to my farm some months ago when we were suffering from a NO CASH SYSTEM. During this period, there was a crisis with Nigeria currency as new naira note was introduced but this new note wasn't in circulation. This really affected alot of businesses as transaction was mostly done with bank transfer. Due to our bad banking system, sometimes most money transfer was delayed and this made business transaction to be abit difficult. With this, I thought of a solution and I came up with the use of crypto as part of my payment method. I decided to add crypto as part of my payment option on my flier.

This was done because of two main reason, which includes:
👉👉 Crypto are very fast when it comes to transfer. This will help to make my transaction fast therefore solving the bad Network system of some banks.
👉👉It will help to make people aware about crypto especially Bitcoin in my localty.

After the introduction of crypto, the no cash stuff ended and no purchase was made with crypto from me. I never give up, I keep advertising to people that I accept both fiat, BITCOIN and USDT as my payment options. With this people start asking me questions about crypto within the farm and was able to convince some into the crypto world. This has helped me to achieve my second aim of introducing crypto payment into my farming business.

Recently, a customer made a purchase with USDT. This was the first purchase made with crypto since the introduction of crypto as part of my payment option and this made me so happy as my long term aim was achieved. I'm also full of joy as my aim of introducing crypto into my farming business was fully achieve. I decided to share this post to encourage others with similar issue.

CONCLUSION
Never relent in anything you believe in. It may take sometimes for it to happen but if you believe and work towards it, it will definitely happen.
Yeah, faster if you use some other coins but not bitcoin. Most bitcoin transaction takes on average 10 minutes for a single confirmation. Since, I guess the amount isn't high, you wait for one confirmation or more? Or do you accept the payments without network confirmation (as long as you see they have paid enough fees of course)? But don't you go back to FIAT after selling something in bitcoin? I mean, don't you sell the crypto later so you can pay the bills and purchase necessary things for your business since I am almost pretty much sure you won't be able to use crypto. In this case, aren't you back facing the same issue with your local currency and banks?
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is KYC mandatory in CEX? on: September 09, 2023, 03:52:58 AM
KYC is a must in Centralized Exchanges primarily due to regulatory laws. Governments want to prevent money laundering and other illegal activities (and also track and see what people are doing with their money). So, for a CEX to operate legally in many countries, they're required to ask for KYC from their users. It's not just about legal laws, it's also for the safety of the exchange and its users. Without KYC, the exchange might be charged and convicted of helping in money laundering. And if people do P2P trades, there is a risk that the user might be receiving money that has been obtained from illegal source. The user might accidently become a part of a larger crime.
135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How was your first Bitcoin experience? on: September 09, 2023, 03:40:47 AM
It started by hearing about bitcoin in the internet and after randomly reading about it, I somehow ended up using some faucets. They used to pay a lot at that time (the satoshis, not the value in bitcoin), and you could withdraw anytime you wanted and they used to send it to some centralized wallet and you could withdraw it anytime without any fee. Saw how the price went up, got interested, invested and sometimes using it as a regular currency. Never had a bad experience with bitcoin (other those days where you had to pay insane fee or wait for hour or sometimes days for transaction to confirm) or got scammed.
136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How does an online Foodbetting site sound? on: September 09, 2023, 03:12:00 AM
Doesn't sound very interesting to be honest. I mean, are there people that has "favorite foodie" like you mentioned? Sounds weird. I mean who enjoys watching someone eat competitively? That would make me nauseous. And how would transparency be maintained? What is stopping one of the players from manipulating the bets? Also, this will be promoting overconsumption and it is definitely not healthy. There are few competitive eating contest, but there's a reason they are heavily regulated.
137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Countries where Bitcoin is “banned” on: September 09, 2023, 01:40:58 AM
Most of the countries you mention, didn't ban bitcoin. They just put restrictions on some financial institution from using bitcoin as a currency. I think it was few weeks ago I saw an article saying Colombia is one of the countries in Latin America that has one of the most users of Crypto currencies. Also heard about something where a bank was making a partnership with an Latin American exchange which will allows users to directly buy and sell bitcoins. So I don't think the list you provided is accurate. And most of those countries put restrictions because they most likely have no proper legal framework for the financial organizations/institutions.
138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin achievement on: September 08, 2023, 02:20:39 AM
then my initial life was not positive, I don't know what to do with my life. one day my friend encourage me to invest on Bitcoin despite my Reservation about Bitcoin, I eventually became persuaded. then I purchase a Bitcoin in 2017 and invested it. from there I became engaged with a forum and began contributing over time, since then I become an established Bitcoin investor.

Guess what, ever since my friend introduced me to Bitcoin and I invested on it, things have never remain the same with me. investing in Bitcoin have given me what I could imagine to achieve in short period of time.
(1) I live alone in the house. but now, I have wife and children.
(2) I was living in a rented apartment. but now, I live in my own house.
(3)  I was tricking to places. but now, Bitcoin have giving me a car.
(4) before I don't have any source of income. but now, Bitcoin is my source of income.

friends, in short period of time, BTC have given me what I needed to have as a man. what is, your own achievement's with Bitcoin.
Good for you. But remember, not everyone gets "lucky" and not everyone can transform their life after investing in Bitcoin. You probably took a very risky move, and got lucky. You invested what you couldn't afford to lose.. which is what most people wouldn't recommend. There are people like you that thought crypto currencies would "change" their life, but instead, the opposite happened.
To address some of your points,

1. Not sure what wife and kids has to do with bitcoin.
2. Being able to afford a house just by investing in bitcoin sounds like you got very lucky or you have bought when the prices were very low and kept holding.
3. Tricking?
4. Don't make it your source of income, or the next day you will have to end  up selling your house and car.
139  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Glitches still affects online casinos? Or it's the casinos that sucks on: September 08, 2023, 02:04:55 AM
I don't know if anyone have come across such fate when gambling online before, imagine playing a game and the game start freezing after few successful trials, the game just crashes on you and you lose money? Anyone?

Now who is to blame for this? The casino or your internet connection or something else? I've asked this on Twitter and some said it's technical glitches, that's acceptable, but if this costs you some money, all because of technical glitches who is responsible for your loss? What will you do about this?

It's a shame that technical glitches and server errors still happen on some online casinos, games that aren't even graphically intense, they aren't even using lots of data resources to run e.g upload and download speed.

This doesn't happen to me but my very close friend and he is at a loss because of it, im just wondering what I would have done if it happened to me?
You mean glitches or crashes when playing slots? As far as I know as soon as you press the "spin" button, the outcomes are all calculated within seconds. The spinning of the reels and other stuffs are all just animations so players don't get bored and remain excited. So even if a glitch or something happens, it is going to happen during the "animation" and most likely your result will already be saved. So next time when you load it, it should be spinning again.  And most casino uses third party service and provider for the slots. So if anything goes wrong/bad, its the provider you should be blaming, not the casino.
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HOW DO WE TRANSFER BITCOIN WEALTH TO HEIRS AND THE NEXT GENERATION on: August 31, 2023, 07:20:21 AM
The only way to do this is by sharing your private key with someone very trusted or just storing it somewhere secure and keeping it locked until the time comes. The way to retrieve your valuables from the lock/vault can be specified on your will. Maybe be use a bank value to store your private keys on the paper wallet. Two parts on two different banks? That way there is lower chance of your keys getting compromised. And I am sure there are other people that have found out better ways to giveaway your wealth to your heirs. Maybe a quick google might help.
