1081  Economy / Economics / Re: Euro and current situation on: March 09, 2022, 11:45:18 PM
Why do you think Euro will follow Ruble in few days? Some parts of your post makes no sense at all. What's the reason do you think is behind the inflation? The only thing you are right is that, yes people should invest in bitcoin during times like those (i mean when the economy gets messed up and hyper inflation takes place). Not even gold. During wars, gold and your fiat currency can be seized or frozen by the government. Look at Ukraine. When the war started, the government temporary limited the amount of money everyone could withdraw from the ATM. No one can put such restrictions on bitcoin.
1082  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blame Game in gambling on: March 09, 2022, 10:55:52 PM
Both are to be blamed. But the parents should have kept a better eye on their son. They should have known what he was doing or browsing on the internet. I bet the same parent would have been happy if their son made massive life changing profit. They would have never said anything against gambling in this case. Wouldn't be surprised if they said they are "proud" of their son. The gambling industry is to be blamed because they sometimes lure people into gambling by showing advertisements that are sometimes very misleading. Every gambling advertisements should come with  disclaimer stating the bad sides of gambling.
1083  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Alts Follows Bitcoin's Fall? on: March 09, 2022, 05:02:31 AM
Think of it this way. When the price of bitcoin starts to fall, altcoin holders see this as an opportunity to buy bitcoin at cheaper price. Hence they start selling their altcoins and invest them in bitcoin. So the price of altcoin starts to crash even more while the price bitcoin doesn't drop as much as altcoins. When the price of bitcoin starts to increase, they buy back their altcoins at the cheaper price hence maximizing their profit. There are cases where the price of altcoins doesn't increase even when bitcoin increases. This is because people move their focus from altcoin when they see the price of bitcoin go up.
1084  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Global Bitcoin/crypto debit card project on: March 09, 2022, 03:02:20 AM
Hi i am studding the possibility on launching a global Mastercard crypto debit card, this card is going to be target to countries that don't have access to the popular crypto cards that are available in the US and Europe.

We wonder if anyone outside of the US or Europe would be interested in owning one?

Thanks
Aren't there already many crypto debit/credit cards out there? Maybe you should focus on countries where those cards aren't available. But yeah, if it isn't available, then probably they didn't get the green light due to regulatory reasons, and you might face the same problem.
Try asking on local boards if they are interested or not. People will respond you better over there.
1085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to detect scam token on Binance Smart Chain on: March 09, 2022, 02:51:43 AM

1. You need to sincerely and without bias, study the project whitepaper. A scam project will always use ambiguous words and big grammars to confuse their readers. They would use words like "Blockchain, DeFi, Technology, Node, Proof of Work (PoW), Proof of Stake (PoS) etc. With this they make their readers especially those new to the space to assume that they are well informed about the ecosystem thereby buying their trust with ease.
A good project would outline the core use cases of their token clearly stated on their whitepaper.

2. You should check whether the identity of the team members are known. Most scam projects do not reveal their identities so that they won't be easily traced. Most of them use false or fake names and social links to further buy the trust of their investors.

1. These are most commonly used word when describing blockchain or crypto currencies. These aren't some "ambiguous words or big grammars" like you stated. I don't thing anyone should be judging a project based of "words" or "grammars".

2. As far as I know there were some projects that had their identity verified, but they still managed to scam their investors. Not directly, but in such a way that nobody could blame them for losing money. And like you said, some teams uses fake name and images. and there are also projects that has anonymous developers, yet they never scammed anyone.

To be honest, most of the shitcoins or tokens are found in Binance smart chain. If it is some random token on BSC, it is very likely a scam.
1086  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coins to sell? on: March 08, 2022, 05:05:32 AM
All those coins seems to be good for holding. But if you wish to sell two, I would say sell Luna and AVAX. Both already had some good gains (with luna gaining more than 50% in a week). With good gains,  comes correction. So high chance the prices of those two coins might correct. Sell it, book your profit and then reinvest in those after the price goes down if you wish to continue holding those coins. Or just hold all of them and invest your money in other coins that you want if you have them lying around.
1087  Economy / Economics / Re: Your wealth and options during the bad times on: March 08, 2022, 04:55:51 AM
I will talk from my experience from Ukraine - cash is king, you don't know where will you be in the next day and if local stores accept digital payments or not. Gold is quite illiquid on practice, and it's more prone to theft than crypto which can be hidden and secured with encryption. So Bitcoin is quite a good store of value, if you know what you are doing.
Cash is king and you are saying this from experience? I thought you would be saying quite the opposite. If cash is king, then explain Ruble? Ruble is "cash". Not it is very rapidly losing its value. Maybe you can't buy shit the next day with it and due to the fiat currency slowly being useless, they will start accepting bitcoin. Cash is not the king during cases like this. Not even gold. The government can seize your gold during war. But if you store your bitcoin in wallets with private keys that only you own, no one can seize it. The price won't be affected based on the value of your local fiat currency.
1088  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What altcoin will go 10x this year? on: March 08, 2022, 04:34:26 AM
Just buy RIPPLE(XRP) it may not grow up to x10 but at least double or triple your money before the year ends.
and if the case against SEC over this year? then we will be seeing more and more increase to this silent but valuable coin.
not considering how cheap this coin nowadays.
There are so much more better coin than XRP (ripple). Honestly, we might not see a lot of price increase like you are expecting. People are already buying. Maybe once the case has been closed, people will FOMO into it, but right after few moments, we might also see the whales starting to dump their coins to take their profit. Remember, there were a lot of people already filling their bags when the price was much cheaper. They are just waiting for this moment to dump their bags.
1089  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying with Bitcoin where there's rush on: March 08, 2022, 12:08:00 AM
Today, while I was shopping, I surprisingly witnessed a young teen (around 16-17) who asked the supermarket cashier if the operators think of accepting cryptocurrencies nowadays that it's being a "thing", which is kinda unusual in my areas; I don't know about you, but Bitcoin isn't even in the threshold of being considered an investment where I live, let alone a currency. He got a negative response.

This made me thoughtful. What happens when you want to pay with Bitcoin where there's rush, say a long queue of people which happens to be the case pretty often at supermarkets? On-chain is definitely not an option as you want from the transaction to take few seconds, so the next customer can push their products up. However, Lightning can become such a hustle when you want to transfer the equivalent of 200-300 EUR. Just to think that an issue with routing or capacity occurs while others wait for you, scares me.

The only thing that comes to my mind is to accept unconfirmed transactions with disabled RBF. Now, whether the amount is decent to pay a miner half of it for double-spending is another thing to discuss. It's not ideal and I'm sure those few-seconds-interval cryptos will find their way to attract by taking advantage of this "unfortunately sounded" problem.
Unless a better solution is found, off chain transaction is the only option over here. Or used a centralized service that will allow you to spend bitcoin instantly through offchain transaction. Like those bitcoin credit cards where you pay with bitcoin using your card and the merchant can opt to either receive in fiat or bitcoin.
No system is perfect yet. Right now if they want to use crypto currencies, they can use other altcoins that has almost instant confirmation time.
Bitcoin is used for crime and it'll scare a lot of people away from accepting bitcoin just like the teenager Op called out that got a negative response.
Fiat is used for crime too. Does it scare a lot of people away?
1090  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic effects after Russia blocks Facebook, Twitter, etc.! on: March 05, 2022, 04:40:27 PM
China blocks facebook, twitter and other social media networks. And only allows their citizen to look at state controlled media. But as far as I know people can still use facebook and other social media platforms using VPN. So the Russian citizens I am sure are doing the same. Using a VPN to access facebook and the media. So they still can communicate with their "loved ones". As for sending money/remittance, they can use bitcoin. Would take only few seconds.
1091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin uptrend stop after Barry Silbert tweet that they are buying Bitcoin on: March 05, 2022, 03:36:03 PM
They probably bought it before even tweeting that they will buy it. I mean, the price is low, they bought it, and then told others before selling it, expecting the price to go up more, but the exact opposite has happened. Anyway, these are all just coincidence. I doubt the price crashed after he told that he bought bitcoin. One single person cannot control the bitcoin market. Most of the people I bet don't even know who he is. And the price didn't even crash. A small downtrend which was expected after a sudden quick uptrend.
1092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance is refusing to block Russian customer's crypto wallets. on: March 05, 2022, 07:09:37 AM
Source: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/28/binance-will-not-block-russian-accounts-after-ukraine-request.html

Binance is refusing to lock account belonging to Russian customer's, what is your take on this? I believe that this might be a better move due to Russian Citizens that don't desire war still being able to move their Roubles to crypto for safe storage.
They would be losing more users if they do this. More people will start to thing twice before using a centralized exchange. What if their accounts accounts are next? Moreover, not all Russians are for the war. There are many that condemns the war. Why punish them? By the way, they are not freezing "users" crypto wallets, they are freezing their funds. The funds you send on your Binance wallet, never stays there. Check your transaction on blockchain. The funds usually gets moved to Binance's hot wallet as soon as the required confirmation has been reached.
1093  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To those Russians who are against the war: use Bitcoin to help! on: March 05, 2022, 07:03:46 AM
Sure they can do that. But based on how messed up their economy and currency is right now, I doubt anyone would want to spend any of their bitcoins.
-snip-
You can use Bitcoin to donate to Ukraine's biggest charity that helps the war efforts. The address is bc1qkd5az2ml7dk5j5h672yhxmhmxe9tuf97j39fm6, you can check it here, on their official website. There's also another wallet, the one shared by Ukraine's official Twitter account, and they accept BTC, ETH, USDT.
-snip-.
why do different organization has to use different address to receive donation? Why not all those organization use a single address to receive the donation? Maybe the address posted officially by the government on their twitter? This would help in more transparency of where the coins are being spent. This would also help stop all those scammers taking advantage of this situation and scamming people.
1094  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a means to restore people's authority over money on: March 05, 2022, 06:38:14 AM
True bitcoin was developed as a means to restore people's authority over their own money. But unfortunately, not every one realizes that. Most of the people are investing in bitcoin to make profit. They don't want to use it as a regular currency. They want to hold it, sit back, wait for the bull run and then go back to their centralized fiat (where they don't have their control of their money) currency to enjoy all their profit. So people are using it as a store of value instead of a regular currency. Wouldn't blame them though. If everyone starts using it as a regular currency, we might see the network getting congested and then the absurd fee might push away people again.
1095  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be Cautious and take Caution. on: March 05, 2022, 06:22:51 AM
With the recent Russia/Ukraine invasion, the Ukrainians asked for help accepting bitcoin and other form of donations.
Having know, Scammers are taking chance of this moment to invade as well, it's best someone we all be guided and not fall as victims to this.
Five minutes of your time can lead to an hour, please be guided in this times.
You could share to your pals, I felt I should share this. People are lossing funds!! I'm no expert at privacy of coins buh take caution and be Cautious.
Thanks X
There were already some users on the forum acting as a representative on behalf of some Ukrainian organization that are accepting donation. If people are that stupid to fall for those scams, I have nothing much to say. If someone is going to donate their money somewhere, they should actually try to "know" or do their research about where they are donating. As far as I know, the only official wallet address are posted by the Ukrainian government on their twitter.
1096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How good is staking coins? on: March 05, 2022, 06:05:34 AM
You can't stake doge coin. Dogecoin is mined (like bitcoin) since it uses Proof of work. Coins that uses proof of stake or other similar algorithm are the ones that you can stake. Your friend built a dogecoin mining farm. We will get rewards for discovering blocks. The staking you are talking about is probably those centralized platforms where you can "stake" your coins. That is not actually staking. It's more like lending your coins to the exchange and in return they will give you a percentage profit.
Staking is one of the various preferred investment patterns using digital currency coins/tokens but you should be aware that the staking process applies to various cryptocurrencies including rules and deals. The most important thing to remember is that you should only invest what you can afford because this investment option can be risky if you don't know what you are doing and see the price now to fit back later in the future. For example, ADA locked staking interest 17% a year locked 15 days still available on Binance https://www.binance.com/en/support/announcement/17c2ee7ced72491d92b96f1157a1efd2
Those are temporary offers/events hosted by binance. They pay users from their own pocket (or the developers provide them with the rewards). It's a way of promoting the coin and exchange. ADA staking APY (staking from your own wallet to a decent pool) is around ~ 4.5% right now.
1097  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: should i invest in new project? on: March 05, 2022, 04:56:32 AM
Don't invest on projects whose names are based some "trending" events. The project you posted is very likely (like 99.9% chance) a shit and a scam project. They expect people to get hyped and FOMO into projects like those. Once people enter, the tokens get dumped by the developers. Everyone loses money except the developer. Look at what happened with Squid game token. Everyone got scammed. The project you are talking about isn't even listed on CMC. Stay away from it.
1098  Economy / Economics / Re: OMG crypto is low ! what do i do ? on: March 05, 2022, 04:33:26 AM
OMG crypto is low ! what do i do ?

Well let me tell you what you do when crypto is low (shhh don't tell anyone it's a secret ...):

1.You build dapps
2.You create nfts
3.You start selling something
4.You create tokens

etc...

Why ? Gas fees are low when crypto is down ...when crypto is down be creative.
Wait for bear market to do all these useless thing? If Gas fee is your concern, then you can do the exact same thing on some other network. In fact building dapps, creating nfts and those things you have mentioned on other network will give you more support from the network community. Ethereum already has all bunch of those projects you mentioned. Almost all of them are shit. Most of them dies. Try something new. And who would want to invest on some new random tokens during a bear market?
1099  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there interested in a Virtual Visa Debit Card ? | Options asked on: March 04, 2022, 10:52:00 PM
I guess a lot of people would be interested in the second product because no KYC is required. But the card must work with all big services such as Amazon, Aliexpress, eBay, etc.

Coinsbee.com used to offer similar cards which were supplied by Prepaid digital solutions but they were just too bad. I personally used their cards and didn't really have any problems with them, but many people did: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.prepaiddigitalsolutions.com

Also, the prices have to be reasonable. EzzoCard also offers a similar service, but they're just way too expensive.
I remember buying one of those from Coinsbee. They were awful. Tried to ship a physical card. Waited for weeks, nothing from them. Their customer support is almost non existent. They later changed it to virtual card giving an excuse without refunding the "shipping" charge for the card. Well I was fine with that. At least I can use it somewhere now. Nope, the card fails most of the time giving weird reason for transaction failures. Didn't bother contacting support based on past experience. Did manage to eventually use up all the funds on the card, but never again.

3. User can now buy a preloaded ($25, $50, $100, $150, $200, $250) Virtual Debit cards(No KYC) or they can buy a reloadable/withdrawable card and add funds from their wallet (KYC needed)
Why do you have to KYC for reloadable cards if you can use preloaded card up to $250 without KYC? I mean, as long as users aren't exceeding the $250 threshold on reloadable cards, shouldn't they be able to use it without KYC?
1100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Family on: March 04, 2022, 09:12:20 PM
I did hear about them. I wonder since none of them have bank accounts or anything, how do they pay their taxes with bitcoin? And probably they are not "all bitcoin" because that would be too difficult. At one point or another, they do interact with fiat currency. And what if the price of bitcoin crashed a lot due to some unexpected event? That would be a total chaos and disaster for them since they went all in into bitcoin...
