1201  Economy / Reputation / Re: Try to scam? on: November 22, 2018, 09:37:03 PM
If I go through the OP concern, it looks valid when I read the comment.

Send me a pm on telegram @codered7

User instead of giving list of escrow trying to divert that user in private conversation in telegram, outside the boundary of forum. This should be first flag.
User do not have any escrow thread, never given any service like this and now asking for PM look a second flag.
But I will give benefit of doubt might be he need to write this in some another thread and posted in that thread.By looking his post history ,He is constantly looking/applying for job and asking in almost every post to contact him in telegram.
OP still you have doubt then you can move it to reputations, not the meta topic

He has the right to ask questions
Really, that being said, ill roll out a few questions for you to help me with..
When will bitcoin die
Is this the end of bitcoin
Can bitcoin rise again..
If bitcoin is sold for X how much will Y be worth
Basis of bitcoin..

We've got a search option,we are definitely not entitled to start threads that has been answered a million times already

I wish demerits  exists and we can award you for it. It is not for this useless post only but also for twisting the valid statement of Invoking.
Whatever OP asked here is not a topic of Google search.
1202  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / URGENT: Buying Hardware wallet :Black Friday Deal :Ledger Nano S/Trezor discount on: November 22, 2018, 08:40:53 PM
 https://www.ledger.com/products/ledger-nano-s
Ledger Nano S is currently 50 % off.

TREZOR is also at 33% off for those who don’t know (until 25/11).

Source: https://mobile.twitter.com/Trezor/status/1065928002956140544

Hi All.

I just spotted a black friday deal in  hardware wallets at  https://www.thecryptomerchant.com

I was looking for Hardware wallet and I come across them. They  claim themselves as authorized reseller of Trezor and Nano and their  trust score in Trust Pilot is also excellent.

Can I buy from them?

I do not have any hardware wallet experience , which wallet should I buy?
Nano or Trezor.

Sorry, I was in my process of DYOR and never expected a black Friday deal, so I pass my question to experienced user here.

Edit:  https://www.ledger.com/products/ledger-nano-s
Ledger Nano S is currently 50 % off.
1203  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 22, 2018, 06:46:51 AM
Most people in poll voted for less that <4000 for Nov 25.   Expecting a good deal for BLACK FRIDAY.

BTW, Happy Thanksgiving.
1204  Other / Meta / Re: Trust Feedback without reference on: November 20, 2018, 11:16:08 PM
I've made 3 transactions with the same member, and left feedback each time. I may do another one soon. These repeated trust entries seem to be a bit repetitive, and I wonder if it is worth batching them, or including a transaction count to make a cleaner listing.

You can do this, because calculation of trust score is based on distinct user not by distinct transaction.
But continuous feedback show other that seller/user is active trader throughout the time. You can give one feedback maintaining timestamps of previous timestamps and delete the older ones.
1205  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: What do yo do if you find a private key online with money inside? on: November 20, 2018, 07:29:16 PM
I will like to have the option of  "Safeguard the funds".
Move the funds from that wallet to new wallet and try to find the owner. Since BTC is truly global I do not know which authority you can report but if your local law allow to keep the belonging is not claimed in "X" days then it is also a good option.
But my very first step is to safeguard it.
1206  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sorry I cannot Hold Anymore My Love! on: November 20, 2018, 05:08:22 PM
BCH gone so BAD also. sighs

Do not compare BCH with BTC.

I will suggest you to keep an active eye on Wall observer thread. It can come on range of  $2600 also with no denying possibility of price range in $3xxx.
If you are feeling the heat than it is totally practical too offload 50% of BTC and try to buy it back when it reaches in $3xxx range.

Anyway , not sure how much BCH drama affected the BTC but Hash rate also showing downward trend. (Meaning BTC mining become somewhat cheaper and that make perfect sense to me that BTC price can drop down).
All BCH guys are dumping their BTC to support their BCH fork drama, that might be also pushing it down.

Anyways I am not the supporter of HODL policy as I mentioned in this topic. I believe in earning, spending and saving philosophy.

1207  Other / Meta / Re: account blocked today over a year old and 1500+ posts on: November 20, 2018, 07:10:06 AM
omg these couple of posts from June and July months and they're decide to ban me today lol
Its same like if you made a mistake in your childhood and punished when you're not even remembered what you were did. Well at the end I am not anymore appealing or requesting to unban my account for now this is forum rules and I respect the rules  but rules have to be more reasonable and logical hoping forum team will work on it to improve more.  Smiley

Look like you grew up very fast. you are child in June-July month and now become responsible adult in November.
1208  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 20, 2018, 01:38:11 AM
Is decreasing hash rate is pulling the price down? It looks hashrate is also dropping.
1209  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Crypto currency as an alternative to the stock market on: November 19, 2018, 07:49:22 PM
@ OP

I fully agree with below views of Cryddit.

Of course a share value can fall.  But it can't really fall while the company is still okay.  It represents ownership.

A coin on the other hand?  A coin can go to zero while the company is fine.  Why should the company care?

The problem with a coin is that there's nothing to prevent the company from just plain walking away.  It got the ICO investors' money, it owes them nothing, so...  done deal, right?  It's over.  The company gets nothing for whatever resources it devotes to the ICO coin after that point, so sooner or later it's just going to cut expenses and drop it.

You're not going to get real investors investing in something that creates no obligation and confers no ownership.

ICOs that are  not registered anywhere, nobody can stop them just walking away with all the investor money. ICO never promises the share on company by virtue of investments. What you consider the "investment" in ICO, unfortunately it is considered as  "Donation" on the legal terms.
1210  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Looking for advice on how to get rid of dusting on: November 19, 2018, 07:30:00 PM
Since "dust transaction" topic come up, I am curious what exactly is current limit of minimum amount of BTC can be sent?
I read a very old post from satoshi where minimum was set at .01 BTC ,but I guess at that that time 1 BTC value was  also less than a cent.
1211  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Technical Perspective of bitcoins. on: November 19, 2018, 07:19:55 PM
Moved from B&H to this board.
I will like to know is anything that block chain and bitcoin is solving that earlier was unsolved and blockchain technology is first in solving it.
1212  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why getting merit without helful post? on: November 19, 2018, 03:12:59 PM
As for your posts, I haven't checked but I'm pretty sure you copied them from somewhere else just by looking at the writing style. In other words, you didn't put any effort into them so there is no reason to receive merits.

Most probable, but this type of accusation should be made with proof. We should not speculate. OP is innocent until proven guilty.

@OP.
I have gone through your topics but  unfortunately I lost all interest in trading.
But I have some question for your topics.
1. How much personal experience you have as a trader?
2. What points in your topics are based on your personal experiences?
3. How much probability that I will not get the same points if I do the search about "trading guideline/best practices"?
4.Did you find somewhere in forum that people are need of this kind of information before you  wrote this article?

Your topic will not gain popularity (merits) if it is missing the above points.

I have few question for you as well.
1. What is your primary objective in this forum?
If it is Merit, then you can churn out some good statistics for it.
If it is money, Then better to build your technical skills first.
If it is discussion, Then I guess you are getting replies.
1213  Other / Meta / Re: Under merited boards: Scam Accusations and Reputation on: November 19, 2018, 07:05:06 AM
I will quote few post from Howeycoin ANN thread.

anybody post the website link !! where can i get it ??

I think that the project is very well structured, especially in the financial sector and certified by the government of the United States, it gives that feeling of confidence and security to its investors. I think it will be very successful. In what way can be part of the project, I would like to have a little more information about it.

Hi I am lazy to read all comments I want to know that is this project still open ?

Why is this pinned and endorsed by bitcointalk?

There will be numerous quotes in this forum that will explain the comprehension level of this forum member. How hard you try to make a list of scam ICO
they will like to remain ignorant . They become expert in managing 100+ bounties and they have no time to read even the OP of ANN thread, forget about other comments.

Who needs the report of alt accounts?
I do not think any sensible member(may be very few) here is participating in "ICO tokens stakes" bounties. They are not interested in finding Alt account who are abusing bounties. people are more interested in finding the rule breaker (spammer and plagiarizer) and get them banned.

Who needs the report of scam ICO?
I do not think in current scenario anyone is chasing ICOs for doing investment.

To be very frank, both of these activities not breaking forum rules.(though they are frowned.) Both of the problem are originating from Altcoin Boards and I guess we all rarely check these boards and very  disinterested in these token offerings.

Bounty Managers , that should be our first line of defense in catching both, failed badly.

I respect the time devoted by coinlocket$,Coolcrytovator  and ICOEthics for their research and findings and few month back I requested to add  Guidelines, how to spot a scam ICO & report effectively. ✔  thread in sticky and below are the key points in Welsh reply.

I'm all for helping the community, but I'm not prepared to spoon feed anyone.
Anyone investing their time/money in altcoins should already know the risks associated with them.
I'm sure most serious users who care about the projects, and where their money is going will search up the project via the scam accusations thread as well as finding public information about them through a search engine.
Maybe, something like that could be added to a sticky, but I like the fact that most stickies are about moderation, and not guides on how to invest, and to do research.

Since Alt and Scam are not punishable by forum rule and general consensus of community is "DYOR" instead of somebody else might be doing it for you, might explain lack of merits.

Edit:
PS: There are no merits in reporting plagiarizer and pressing "Report To Moderator" button also. We all do this as to contribute in this forum.
I guess, If these guys can get DT status for their work then it might make their life somewhat easier.

1214  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to avoid ICO scam by following very easy step. on: November 18, 2018, 08:22:20 AM
Do not think that SEC did not know it's own guidelines when it said Bitcoin and Ethereum are not securities. Both  of them do not satisfy third and fourth critieria i.e investment of money is in common enterprises and investor will be benefitted by promoters efforts.

ICO is a business enterprises only, if a business do not know what legal duties it need to fulfill for starting the business , then it better to stay away from that business
1215  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is Blockchain a new technology or just a method of data storing? on: November 18, 2018, 07:41:10 AM
If you say blockchain is a data storing structure, do you agree it is one the worst database produced ever?

Your comment is very much analogous to "like judging the fish for its ability to climb a tree"
Block chain is not created for storing the data though it store transaction data.

Before Satoshi , people already proposed  electronic currency/Crypto currency. Even Satoshi was not the first to tell us about PoW consensus.
Everything was there and only problem is that we did not have any decentralized method that can work for distributed system (byzantine fault tolerance).
Block chain solved that problem.

It will be helpful if you read the below post and references mentioned there.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5066766

I will suggest you to understand CAP theorem and byzantine fault tolerance and you will get the answer to your current question.

It should not be Meta topic. You can write in Vod's official announcement thread.

1218  Other / Beginners & Help / How to avoid ICO scam by following very easy step. on: November 17, 2018, 11:24:04 PM
Hi Friends

Most of user are aware of the Howey Coin ICO and its announcement in the forum.  Howey Coin is actually  USSEC (United State Securities and Exchange Commission) initiative to educate the investor. Howey coin actually derived its name from a very famous case of SEC_v._W._J._Howey_Co. which is also instrumental for creation of Howey test.

Now,If an ICO is selling its token USA/Worldwide, then it will be very interesting to check whether an ICO token classify as an security or not. You can use the following guideline to check whether the token is a security or not by using Howey test.

"Under the Howey Test, a transaction is an investment contract if:

It is an investment of money
There is an expectation of profits from the investment
The investment of money is in a common enterprise
Any profit comes from the efforts of a promoter or third party
"

You should not believe in ICO whether their token is security or utility and do the test yourself to find out in what exact domain it lies. SEC has already make itself very clear on the ICO offerings.

"ICOs, or more specifically tokens, can be called a variety of names, but merely calling a token a “utility” token or structuring it to provide some utility does not prevent the token from being a security."

So if an ICO token is already offered as security then you should check whether the ICO/company is listed in SEC. You can dircectly check the listing and research about company at below site:

https://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch.html

If ICO offering securities in USA does not feature in this list then it is indicator of red flag and keep yourself away from that ICO

Now, If ICO claiming itself other than security but falling under security by Howey test is also a red flag. How can you trust millions of dollars to an enterprise that is not able to understand such a simple concept?
I think if you pursue the ICO team on these question before investing then you will automatically filter out most of the scam ICO.

If business does not look legitimate then do not invest on it.Business is not legitimate then it will dupe you in the end.

If you find the company in the list, still check further what business company is doing because impressio.io was listed in UK but it business was software consultancy not the lending one.

Now , if something  does not fit on any of the above criteria( It does not fit US/Worldwide Security token) then you have list of guideline described below (you can use these guidelines to confirm your belief for the legit ICO too for confirming your belief too):

Guidelines, how to spot a scam ICO & report effectively.
