1242  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is buy and hold a good investment option with price around $230 - Aug 2015 on: September 03, 2015, 06:01:47 PM
Just looking for some opinions.  I know I can make 0.5% on my cash in the bank so I'm thinking to put a small percentage into buy and hold of bitcoins.

What do people think of this as an investment holding for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years?

I think around $200 is floor for bitcoin..if it goes lower there will be huge buy orders...so yes I think it's decent price to buy and hold

1246  Economy / Gambling / BitStarz Player Wins euro 51,000 on: September 03, 2015, 03:57:46 PM
A player made a euro 200 deposit on established Bitcoin casino BitStarz and won euro 51,438.47 in an unbelievable winning streak lasting 48 hours. Player with a nickname HAMSTERCHOPS is now the record holder for a single win with euro 16,500 at the online casino.

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao, Sept. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Online Bitcoin casino BitStarz has seen the coronation of a new BitStar as a player broke the record for the highest single win in BitStarz history. Player went on a 48 hours long winning streak seeing her deposit of €200 grow to incredible €51438.47 including a Mega Win on the featured game SuperNova. Player was gambling on various slots-games when her lucky BitStar was shining.

The surprised and excited winner Rebecca was quoted shortly after the epic win saying, "I can hardly believe it! After my first and single deposit on the casino I hit this big! I have never won anything, this is amazing!"

The SuperNova winner did not only win the €16,500 jackpot but also on many other games, with the largest pots being from slot-game provider MicroGaming. The 3 reel slot game SuperNova has 27 pay lines, but offers a modern double reel, multiplying winnings, hence being the winning player's favorite game.

The player also won large sums on several other MicroGaming slots like 'Playboy', 'Goldilocks and the Wild Bear' and 'Jurassic Park' with wins of  €10,100, €9,030 and €5,110.

Sasha Jade, Marketing Manager on BitStarz commented: "It's great for BitStarz to bring forward such happy moments but even better to be acknowledged for such a juicy payout. We work extremely hard to deliver online entertainment with big payouts and the fastest withdrawals. Such wins go straight to what we hope to offer our customer, a place where they can 'Dream Big, Win Bigger' – which just became reality for a lucky player."

nah. I think most topics need to self moderated or if it's doing well it gets flooded with fuds and competitors.

stay away from new coins and you will never have to face any problem...stick with coins that are old

have you tried adsense or bing adsense (whatever it's called). 10,000 unique visitors is good traffic and I'm sure you can make money out of it (depends on which country it's coming from). Find famous bitcoin/altcoin merchants and post their ads on your site OR send them email and offer them that you'll put their ad on your site for a fee.
1260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many of you feel ashamed for recommending Bitcoin to family & friends? on: August 31, 2015, 07:51:35 AM
I started buying bitcoins back in summer of 2013. I was so excited by this new technology and when the price shot up in November, my excitement became contagious. My brother bought a bitcoin for $1000 from me, my mother asked me to buy her one too also at $1000, my niece bought a tenth for $100, my boss bought a few from coinbase, a co-worker bought a few dozen or so until the price dropped to $800. He died about a year later and his family threw away his computer. So those were all lost.

I continued buying in 2014 and then spent a bunch early this year to take care of some things. Anyway, I went over my buys & sales, and discovered that my remaining couple dozen bitcoins cost me around $500 each, despite my use of cost averaging. And I know I did much better than all the people that I know who started buying later than me.

Now I am ashamed to even mention Bitcoin. Everyone I know has lost money and a lot of it. If they ask me about it, I refuse to talk about Bitcoin.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the concept. I am sure the technology will take off in a decade or two. I even use it to send money overseas (using bitpesa) and to fill phones (using bitrefill) all the time.

Anyway, just curious to hear how you all deal with the bitcoin shame from friends & family.

Why be ashamed?

They didn't buy it because of you ...as a grown up person they bought it because they found it interesting. If they're pointing finger at you they need to grow the fck up and learn to take everything with grain of salt.

I told people about bitcoin and lot of them bought it..some of them lost money but I told them in the begining that they have to hold it for long term (10-20 yrs) to see any real development and price change and they were okay with it...lot of them still hold it and they bought more.
