1241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your security is our top priority! on: September 05, 2023, 11:44:01 PM
2FA is no longer enough of a security feature to mitigate theft and hacks IMO. There are tools that override 2FA or pose as the one who owns the account. It's a great feature when first introduced, but as time went on, people found ways to defeat it, and that's something that doesn't sit well with me. Security researchers and professionals will eventually find a way to create an even secure authentication process, similar or even better than 2FA. But until then, we will have to rely on this feature to keep our accounts secured - it's better than nothing.

What casinos can boast right now is that they have the capability to operate even after getting hacked. Not a lot of platforms stay afloat after getting hacked, so this one's really something that I'm banking on if I want to play on the platform.
1242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Learning from those who have experience on: September 05, 2023, 11:31:06 PM
I wasn't addicted but I was consistent in gambling every week with the same amount. You might consider that as addiction but I don't view it that way. For me, the first step in curbing this activity and moving away from gambling is recognizing that what you're doing is not okay. I assure you, it takes a lot of convincing yourself that what you do is something out of the ordinary and must be stopped. It took me a while to break free from my scheduled gambling habits and patterns, but I did it anyway.ß
1243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos Should Also Be Prepared For Health Emergencies on: September 05, 2023, 10:58:44 PM
Both were wrong, the victim shouldn't go somewhere else where his family can't watch him when he's aware that when he's attacked by his sickness, no one will be able to help and watch him out. And when the guy was attacked by that disease, the dealer just continued to do his thing? Where's the humanity and being concerned on that part? Yes, the show(job) must go on but how can that dealer attained to just see it around when the guy was being attacked and it's obvious by that time that he's struggling, right? Instead of calling for help, yet he continued to deal.

That's like limiting the life of the person and I'm not for it. There are better ways to handle this and that's not restricting the person to do as he pleases. It should be common knowledge that huge establishments have at least 1 onsite doctor and nurses available any time that are ready for these emergencies. Unfortunately, it's not the medical professionals that made the ultimate mistake, but the dealer who didn't even bat an eye on the man lying awkwardly by the table.
1245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cambridge University Shatters Bitcoin Energy Myths on: September 05, 2023, 09:01:18 AM
First of all, thank you for sharing this good news and the link for anyone who wants to read more on this topic.

This news is really good for the image of Bitcoin, for as well know there is an existing negative image of Bitcoin that makes it hard for the general public to fully be interested in it. Due to a lot of negative advertisements and issues of scamming, Bitcoin has been receiving a negative image from those who are not fully educated by the actual system Bitcoin operates. Hence, having this news that Bitcoin is not causing such a big negative environmental impact is a form of redeeming thing for it. Those who are always using this argument will be debunked and one less negative point will be erased in favor of Bitcoin.

As for anyone who is interested in seeing real-time data regarding the Bitcoin electricity consumption index, here is the link: https://ccaf.io/cbnsi/cbeci

1246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government vs Bitcoin on: September 05, 2023, 07:43:52 AM
What government think about Bitcoin some years ago that made some ban Bitcoin from their country, and some rejected Bitcoin that it has no value for their citizens because of lack of orientation in the past that affected my governments. I think, those governments that rejected Bitcoin or banned Bitcoin before based on negative things they heard about Bitcoin later carry out their research to know what Bitcoin can do for a government that adopt it, and what it will eliminate from their economy when it come to stay in the land. Bitcoin will remain decentralized currency, which no government can control the price of Bitcoin, and it will pump when it's time to pump and it will dump when it's time to dump for investors to buy and hold for future purpose.

And you just stated two of the main reasons why governments do not like the idea of Bitcoin and why some countries even went out and actually banned it. Lack of control on the government's part is a big thing as they need to ensure that they have knowledge of the inside out of anything that exists under their nose or property, so essentially if their citizens are using it the government will do its best to have a hand on it to ensure that they will be the ones to govern it. Another one is the negative image Bitcoin has, thanks to the negative way the media has portrayed it and issues that keep on popping up regarding Bitcoin, governments do not (in any way) want to deliberately get their hands dirty, especially in the eyes of the public, so adopting something that has a negative image is a big no to them as it will also stain their own image. In conclusion, lack of control and negative image are two of the main reasons as to why governments are hesitant in accepting Bitcoin.
1247  Economy / Economics / Re: How to developed your capital on: September 05, 2023, 07:15:50 AM

3. Read books on financial market and its products

This may seem like good advice at first glance, but in fact I find it useless. The fact is that now the information is updated very quickly, new concepts in cryptocurrencies are added every month, and some abbreviations are replaced by others. And only the one who is fulltime looking for information in the world of cryptocurrencies is in the course of all changes. And books are static and the information in them quickly gets stuck. It is better to read the Internet.

Reading books remains an important thing with the aim of increasing our understanding and thinking. and this is a very useful thing. However, it is not enough for us just to read books, but we also implement what we have read and about what we learn after reading as a form of actualization and as a form of knowing that we understand what we read.

And it's true what you say. However, that does not mean that reading books is useless and does not have any effect on us. And all the good things we do will definitely benefit ourselves.
It's just that currently, with the development and progress of the current era, it is not enough for us to just read books, but we also have to be able to absorb existing information and this can be done via the internet, so that we are able to answer existing problems.

Okay, reading is not useful, of course. But it is not as productive as it is commonly believed today. I have read books by Kiyosaki, Kornegi and similar authors, but I can say that the information there is too stretched for nothing, and the main idea is always the same:

"Money can bring money. You need to buy assets."

That's all. Let it be a very key thought that has changed my life and my whole way of thinking, but it is enough. And if someone has very little time, then it is enough for him to read the thought above, and not waste his time to read hundreds of pages where this thought will be given in examples. With good thinking, the reader will understand everything for himself.

I have also noticed this. After reading a handful of motivational and self-help books (some centering on how to be a successful businessman/entrepreneur) I noticed how the hundreds of pages of the book are mostly filled with examples that eventually end up or go back to the main point of the book, and the thing is that point was already stated and carefully explained on the first chapter. I mean don't get me wrong, of course, it is always good to have real-life examples cited in the book in order to show just how relevant and effective the main point of the book is. However, having so many examples and realizing by the end of the book that you just spent so much time reading different stories with the same outcome only to go back to the main point of the first chapter feels unproductive to me. Human beings, especially those who have a set goal, can naturally quickly pick up things, hence I don't think it should take 20 or so chapters for us to learn something that will help us on our way to success. Reading books is useful, as it has always been, but there are instances that we should analyze if it is making us less productive.
1248  Economy / Economics / Re: I wonder if food prices in your country have also increased? on: September 05, 2023, 06:41:11 AM
You know it’s odd to see basic necessities if they have been decreasing their prices, surely their prices are bound to increase especially that inflation may be here for good. And food prices are certainly the most concern of the citizens today most particularly in my country where rice price has been extremely rising so bad. Good thing news came out lately that our head of the country has ordered a minimum price set for well-milled rice. Hopefully this will not be the last price adjustment for our food price.

I really hope that there will be more price adjustments. There is already food shortage to deal with, with the price of necessities going up I don't know how below minimum wage workers will be able to survive. I work an above minimum wage job but I still struggle to keep up with my budget and is barely saving any for my future and for investments. Hopefully, if more price adjustments happen we can all find a way to adjust and make most of our income.
1249  Economy / Economics / Re: What has really been behind china's economy on: September 05, 2023, 05:56:19 AM
The thing with China is that they do not disclose information regarding their country and government fully. I believe there are some articles stating that some, if not most, of the statistics produced pertaining to China and its economy were all made up (I would probably go back here and cite some sources myself). However, I think what's keeping China ahead of other countries is that China is serving as the manufacturing hub of the world. Most of the parts needed by big companies like Apple are sourced from China. For some who are not aware, despite some products stating that they are made in the US or other Western countries, you will see if you search that the majority of the parts needed for that specific product were made and gotten from China, it was just assembled in the US or the country it claimed to be made in. Moreover, education in China is really good and they are very strict in ensuring that children there are given more than what they need in terms of academics, I'm sure a lot of us have already heard how strict they are with academic achievements.
1250  Economy / Economics / Re: Stable coin or having USD in bank on: September 05, 2023, 05:23:09 AM
I know banks. I know how shitty they are and how they can go bankrupt. They are protected by so called “law” and yet they scam people every day. Still… I don’t know stable coins that much. I don’t know who (really) is issuing them, if they are backed by anything, what will happen to hem if the issuer exchange goes down etc…

When I compare stable coins to the FIAT in a bank account, I choose banks tbh. That doesn’t necessarily mean that stable coins have no use. They do. But I don’t trust them with my life savings.

Right? Both are not so good in a way for me. I have had issues with the bank ever since some of the money in my savings account was randomly transferred by someone without my knowledge and when I asked the bank regarding this they couldn't provide me with any help or assistance. These days there have been a lot of issues regarding a lot of banks in my country as well, may it be from people losing money on their accounts or banks shutting down due to bankruptcy. However, as for stablecoins, most of them are not registered or regulated by any counrty so if something happens you cannot file any legal complaint or sue them since they are not technically a part of any legal system or jurisdiction, so there is that risk to consider. Hence, I am with you on your choice, not because bank is the best option and I wholely trust it, it's just that between the two bank holds the smaller risks.
1251  Economy / Economics / Re: Which problem will you choose to solve? on: September 05, 2023, 04:49:04 AM
On my end  I'd also choose to solve my problems first. Quite out of the context but how will I be able to help others if I cannot help myself?
I would prefer not to solve the problems of people based on their fiat wealth. For example a priest doesn’t classify people via their wealth, he will help people regardless of their wealth. I think it’s time we, as a society, stopped using money as a status symbol. We all bleed red, no matter how much money we have.
Well actually humans do have the same degree. Be it a rich person or a poor person. Everything must be respected properly. And all must be helped when they ask for help or need help. But sometimes in life there are always multiple choices where we cannot choose both. Because sometimes we can only choose one. And this is where our minds are tested. As in the case raised in this topic. Helping the problems of the poor or helping the problems of the rich. Both have differences as well as similarities. It's just that we have to prioritize one of them in certain situations. So the answer will indeed vary depending on our ability to provide assistance. for example if we are rich people. Then we can provide assistance to the poor by providing job vacancies and providing decent wages. And poor people can also help rich people by working for rich people and lightening the work that rich people cannot do.
As much as I wanted to side with one of the options, I agree that it does depend. Whether you are rich or poor  your problems are valid thus you shall be helped. But with prioritizing which is which, then that will indeed depend on the situation. Think of this analogy; a rich man being robbed and a poor man asking for a dime. Answer is obvious right? Also  it depends on the type of individual you are. Bottomline here is  no matter who you help, choose depending on your capabilities as well. Also, we cannot help people if they are the ones who aren't even trying to help themselves.

But if this is will be views with practicality, problems of the poor are undending and that won't be limited to money alone. There'll be others such as education and such. On the other hand, if you choose to help the rich ones, they may or might not help the poor ones.

That is indeed true, you may be able to choose who you want to help, but it will depend on your capabilities. No matter how much your drive is to help the people around you, none of it will matter if you do not have the capacity to actually give help. It will just be a thought that will not actually apply any changes to them. And I also agree with you on your other point, rich or poor status does not matter if they are not willing to help themselves, because even if you get them out of their bad situation or solve their problems, chances are they will find themselves back to that point after awhile because they will not learn, they will also end up relying on you and on others to get them out of any bad stuff they are in again.
1252  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and others urge AI pause, citing 'risks to society' on: September 05, 2023, 03:06:43 AM
The government need to control the use or else it would be used to cause a lots of attacks thag would look real to humans eyes. People had started using it to clone other people's imagine which should be framed at. I have started seeing a lots of things we can use the chatgpt to do which would look extraordinary to people when they see the outcome. We may be enjoying it now but there a bad people that will not mind to use the dark side to cause harm and destroy personalities.
I guess the part where the Pope is involved is what is causing this great fear, right? Before now, there have been Al images of so many people (both influential and otherwise) yet not so many people cared what was paraded. This isn't to engage in any argument in religiosity, but I think what is sauce for the goose should also be sauce for the gander. Every life should be treated as sacred, should matter. We're all mortal beings. Al usage has enabled man do certain stuff almost effortlessly and shouldn't just be discharged because of its perceived demerits. It should be regulated, that's all; and not just be stopped.

It surely needs to be regulated. I remember watching a YouTube vlog/documentary about this, wherein they put celebrities' faces on 18+ content creators and sell those videos. As much as a lot of people may think that it is not dangerous or not that impactful, just imagine how much it can effect or ruin someone's life if their faces and voices were used to do something that ruin their images or have troubles against the law. Such a thing can even cause a national problem if politicians' faces and voices were used to deliver fake messages and announcements.
1253  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - Drake, UFC, Everton, Alfa Romeo F1 Team on: September 04, 2023, 06:04:06 PM
Watcher.guru is reporting that Stake was hacked for $41,300,000 worth of crypto. Is this true? Will it have any effect on operations or is 40 million dollars chump change? Hopefully this won’t have any effect on growth plans for Kick. That’s a pretty big loss, but I’m assuming Stake has the money to cover it at this time.

https://x.com/watcherguru/status/1698722028197400752

If the numbers are right, that is a huge loss for a casino. But stake is quite big operating in large numbers as well.
So I think, this won't have a big impact on their operations. But of course, a loss is a loss.
For a small casino, this amount of loss will probably end their existence in this industry.
If they are having such amount in their hot wallets, what's more in their cold wallets?
But definitely, this unexpected event will remind them of their security features, so let's see how they will act on this situation.

They have halted transactions on some networks, so it's possible that they are already looking into it. $40 million in hot wallet is no joke, assuming that it's only concerning polygon, ETH, USDT, and USDC without BTC included. That's something to really look at. If Stake is handling this big of an amount in hot wallet, I can't even imagine how much is inside their vaults.

They are probably after the hacker right now, and are checking other avenues to which they can be attacked. It's a huge blow for Stake, but perhaps not something that can render them non-operational.
1254  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How will you feel if it happens to you just like this? on: September 04, 2023, 05:51:46 PM
I'd probably say 'screw it' and move on. There's no point pondering too much on a potential win, even if I got the specifics of the whole game right. It's just something that you'll get to think about every now and then and it might even affect your decision-making capabilities on the fly. I just like to think that I already have the knowledge and the capability to predict games this close and I can do it again the next time I have money and reap the rewards later.
1255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Give Him a loan Or Partner With Him on: September 04, 2023, 05:18:06 PM
If he's a close friend, I might consider giving him a loan and forgetting about it, assuming I never helped him in his recovery nor during all his problems with his health. I'd never seek repayment, especially if I'm in a position of sharing what I have. Of course, the amount won't be big, but something that can potentially help him jump back to his feet and start over again. At this point, I'm looking at keeping the relationship and not burning bridges. It's a one-time offer, and he will never have the chance to borrow money from me again.
1256  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Opinion: Pag invest sa Bitcoin gamit ang Maharlika Fund on: September 04, 2023, 11:09:24 AM
Totoo yan.

https://www.phweb3festival.com/

obvious naman na mate , na ang popularization ng crypto sa pinas now ay ganon nakalawak, so maybe we are seeing more of these in the coming months specially before and after halving next year.
Actually maganda nga na mas madaming event na ganito before and during halving, that way para yung mga bago pa lang sa crypto ay ma experience first hand kung ano nga ba ang halving at ano ang dapat gawin pag ganito.
1258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope is all I have left on: September 04, 2023, 10:13:59 AM
I can understand your situation. Most of the users who invest in Bitcoins doesn’t have enough money to invest. The ideal solution for this is to develop a skill and find a job according to it. Now when you get a fixed amount of salary, you just invest some part of it in cryptos. Regarding the price, then it will only go up when the demand of the coin increases. So don’t lose hope and invest accordingly.
This is just it. Don't lose hope, find a job and side hussles for income and use a good percentage of that income to invest. Staying in one's comfort zone, complaining and just being sad about it will do nothing good and will not get anyone anywhere. Instead, we have to make do of our situation and find a way to solve it. I always believe that we can never be stuck in a situation unless it is our own choice to be stuck there. Essentially, it may be true that sometimes we cannot control where we find ourselves in, but we can surely control where we go from there. In OP's case, the move is to actually move, do something. If OP really wants to invest then find a way to earn capital for that investment by developing skills and working.
1259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I choose Bitcoin (and you'll must choose it too) on: September 04, 2023, 08:54:43 AM
Though I do agree with you. I think posting this here, a literal forum for people who are already using Bitcoin (some who are interested and about to use it), is a little pointless unless you intend your post to be shared outside the forum in some way to attract and push other people to join. Moreover, if you are going to have such subject and statement in your post and will only leave a link to explain it, I don't think it is very effective. Instead, I suggest you provide more personal reasons backed by articles and credible sources to prove your point. Having just a link wouldn't attract much attention and honestly not convincing, especially with your subject and possible target audience. Try to expand more if you want a fruitful discussion.

Nevertheless, good choice with Bitcoin, but all of us (at least more than 3/4 of members here) already did as well.
1260  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: September 04, 2023, 08:29:24 AM
Elon Musk is an overrated dude and he has literally proven that again and again. He is very intelligent for sure, but he is not some sort of celestial entity who turns whatever he touches to gold or something.

Twitter is one of those examples where he messed up big-time by trying to do something different which didn't sit well with the mainstream audience. His arrogance clearly screwed him over in this case.

Also, what the heck is X? He comes up with idiotic names for things/people. Twitter is way better in comparison.

Alright, this is more like a hate post for Elon Musk now. Yes, he made some questionable decisions but I really don't think everything he did after buying Twitter was bad. According to Elon Musk he chose the name X cause it is a symbol that pertains to imperfection that makes everyone unique and as the social media platform is use to present and express one's self then it's like stating that you can express your unique self there. Nevertheless, what Elon names Twitter or X doesn't matter as he owns it and it is not new that businessmen who buys already existing products and companys rebrands it to create a new image for them. If you actually use Twitter/X now and you are one of the million simple users of the platform who just likes to tweet and stay updated regarding news and whatnot, you will not feel the changes Elon applied (aside from the UI being darker and the name).

See, what people don't see is X is still in the midst of changes and a lot of updates have yet to be settled. Elon Musk bought Twitter for a reason and to do something with it, we all just need to see and wait.
