States like the republic of the Congo? What states do you mean?
state = country Got it. In that case the country that issues such a law will simply be cut out of the future of money.

Hey
How do you calculate taxes on alt-coins bought and sold with Bitcoin? For example if i bought 10 bitcoins worth of Monero, and monero rose 10% and i decides to sell for that extra bitcoin, how does that become taxed? Furthermore if/when i decide to sell the 11 bitcoin i now have for fiat, how might that be taxed? Thank you in advance.
(Assuming you are in the US) In that scenario you have a taxable capitol gain of 10%. Your tax on that gain could be as low as 0% or as high as maybe 20%. But 10% is a good guess. Note that the tax only applies to the gain and not the principal and is triggered by selling or spending the coin (any kind of coin).

I hate to break it to you, but you are too insignificant for them to tip their hand at how they can control BTC. I'll take my chances. I have always ignored illogical "what if" scenarios and have always profited as a result. But I'm not going to tell anyone what to do with their money. Especially when it could become my money at a cheap price. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

What you are proposing is an alt coin, which is absolutely feasible. In fact no one can stop anyone from doing it. However the problem is not creating the coin but getting a consensus to move to your fork. That will be hard.
BU is also an altcoin . How is it going to be harder for segwit+2mb coin to get support than BU? It may be even easier? But still could be hard. There are so many competing interests now, ideas have quite a headwind to overcome.

Bitcoin is Abuzz With New Satoshi Nakamoto Rumors
Pete Rizzo (@pete_rizzo_) | Published on January 26, 2017 at 15:40 GMT
If the gossip at a recent invite-only bitcoin conference is any indication, news may be forthcoming in the long-simmering Satoshi Nakamoto saga.
On the sidelines of the two-day Satoshi Roundtable conference in Cancun, rumors were swirling that new developments in the 'Who is Satoshi?' story once again relate to the controversial Australian academic and entrepreneur Craig Wright, who last May claimed that he – and as many as four others – contributed to the white paper credited to bitcoin's pseudonymous inventor.
This time, however, there is said to be a potential twist to the story relating to an unknown entity that may have a claim to the intellectual property created by that group.
Major news outlets are once again said to be conducting an investigation into the story, with releases coming out as early as next month.
While interesting, the speculation is notable given that Wright's claims were later attacked by cryptographers, with even those who initially vouched on his behalf later attempting to distance themselves from their previous support.
Wright later publicly apologized for what he claimed is his inability to provide more proof defending his claims, stating at the time:
So..... Nothing at all to support this? Satoshi would know how to prove his claim in 1 min. Craig has had half a year and does not even seem to know how to sign a transaction.

No signed message = no Satoshi.
Amen. anyone who does not get this does not get bitcoin.

I would guess it is hard to find someone with that much to lose who is willing to risk jail so that you can be anonymous. If you did find a seller, s/he may just decide to keep your money and not send the BTC. If that happened you have zero legal recourse because you are part of a criminal conspiracy.

If he is Satoshi then why can he not sign a Tx? It would take 1 minute and prove his claim with mathematics. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) I mean really, I'm supposed to believe that the guy who gave us trust-less cash wants us to just trust his word without proof? Ironic: Your signature line says: "the gospel according to Satoshi," but then you show your faithlessness by demanding extraordinary proof. I think you guys are gonna get more proof than you can bear soon. Don't forget how badly you begged for it. You are correct that I have no faith in what some random guy says. Cryptographic proof is not extraordinary. It is proof period. Satoshi would know that.

For a legal, fully licensed business I would pay 3%. It is a service I really don't need, so it has to be cheap.

Come on man. You actually think someone is going to loan you almost five grand based on this request? You are going to have to provide "secured collateral" totaling more than the value of the loan. So can you mail a car title or the deed to a house? Will you sign a notarized contract obligating yourself to pay? And obviously your identity will need to be verified in person. Or were you planing on signing the contract as "groovemasta".
