1841  Bitcoin / Press / Re: {2016-03-031]Forbes: Uncertainty In Bitcoin Doesn't Extend To Startups on: March 31, 2016, 08:20:16 PM
Serious people do math not participate in child like arguments or conspiracy theories. Not that I'm complaining. The difference between fools in the market and players is where the profit is.  Wink
1842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Financial Times: Satoshi = Craig Steven Wright reveal coming 7-14 April 2016 on: March 31, 2016, 08:14:58 PM
He already had/has a chance to prove himself. Just sign a note with Satoshi's key. If your proof is the "backing of the industries biggest players" then you have not proven anything. It's not like those players have a clue who Satoshi is. Sign a message Craig, it will only take 1min.
1843  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price? Who is making it? on: March 31, 2016, 08:07:58 PM
In a word... ARBITRAGE.

Quote from: Investopedia
What is 'Arbitrage'?

Arbitrage is the simultaneous purchase and sale of an asset in order to profit from a difference in the price. It is a trade that profits by exploiting price differences of identical or similar financial instruments, on different markets or in different forms. Arbitrage exists as a result of market inefficiencies; it provides a mechanism to ensure prices do not deviate substantially from fair value for long periods of time.
1844  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach $700 again on: March 31, 2016, 08:03:48 PM
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that's the thing, this is an opinion. Mine is different and I'll be happy to have your coins. For every sale from a person who has a pessimistic forecast there is a buyer who disagrees. I made my money on the NYSE by disagreeing with the common wisdom. And I made my money in bitcoin by disagreeing also.

So no one should be derided for thinking BTC will crash soon, but make no mistake, they know nothing that you don't know and are just taking a guess. For me I think bitcoin has the opportunity to grow in spectacular fashion. If I knew of other such opportunities I would be interested in those things as well. In reality the stock market is a suckers bet at the moment, real estate is wobbly, gold is no longer exploding,... There is nothing else that has a chance like bitcoin.
I'm sticking with the bet that has made me a lot of money, I'm sticking with bitcoin.
1845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should people use Bitcoin? on: March 31, 2016, 05:49:31 PM
Self interest is always a strong argument.  Wink
1846  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1 Bitcoin = $1,000,000 on: March 31, 2016, 03:30:17 PM
Are you buying? I have never sold a bitcoin, but if that's your price then I would part with one of them.
1847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to give away Bitcoin at a public event? on: March 30, 2016, 04:25:48 PM
Here is how IBM did it. At a conference, or whatever, they asked participants to download a weather app. Then this happened.....

Awesome!
1848  Economy / Lending / Re: i am in debt on: March 30, 2016, 03:17:22 PM
The fact that you seem to want to make it right is a good start. Try contacting the lender and keep them in the loop. And pay whatever you can, even if it's a tiny amount. Continuing to pay proves you are not trying to scam anyone, you are just having a hard time paying.
1849  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the most profitable type of gambling? on: March 30, 2016, 02:36:21 PM
I would guess that casino ownership is the most profitable.  Wink
1850  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is not investment! on: March 30, 2016, 02:00:42 PM
I think your right, it's a currency. But to complicate things one could invest in currencies.

I cant see this since this is a debate between fiat vs bitcoin.

I mean the only reason we see value for a price on bitcoin is due to fiat.. so yeah..
Not me? I value $100 in BTC as more valuable than $100 in dollars. I can do more with BTC, I can shop across the world, it is more secure, it's faster, it's cheaper; it's worth more.

1852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Anonymous Really Steal ISIS Bitcoins in #OpBrussels? on: March 29, 2016, 05:42:34 PM
Why is the Airplane flight that got hijacked today not a terrorist attack according to Cyprus?
Am I missing where the passengers felt their lives threatened! I bring this up because the media again is twisting the narrative to fit their story.

Why cant Brussels round up 5 thousand people like Pakistan did! Cool

Apparently it was not a terrorist operation. Terror is a political technique used in asymmetrical war. The idea is to cause fear that leads a powerful enemy into bad decisions. For example the 9/11 attacks were highly successful in causing the U.S. to completely restructure our government and society around a theme of fear. We gave up our rights and our freedoms, we squandered our treasure and wrecked our economy, destroyed what credibility we had pursuing stupid wars. We really could not have done more to help Al Qaeda magnify their operation.

The hijacker in Egypt was unclear about his demands, but apparently he mostly wanted to patch things up with his ex-wife. That sounds more like a desperate mentally ill man than a terrorist.  I'm sure we'll find out more soon.

EDIT: Yeah, he does not look very scary too me? Especially when he is taking selfies with the hostages.
1853  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-03-29] motherboard : Bitcoin Could Consume as Much Electricity on: March 29, 2016, 04:24:52 PM
Not to be biased, please ask them to calculate how much the fiat system is costing to .... Print money {from the raw resources to the end product} then take the energy consumed to take it to the user.

Compare the energy consumed to run the private mainframes and networks {private ledgers} and the ATM costs {24/7} and also the vaults and the brick n mortar buildings and the Air conditioning in

these buildings and all the security surrounding these buildings... Do you still think the fiat system use less electricity than Bitcoin? Nope....   Roll Eyes
Amen brother. Their comparison implies that our current systems are somehow sustainable and not consuming vast energy resources. Never have I seen a criticism of the wasted energy of ATM machines, for example.
1854  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to spend Bitcoin? Newbie's opinion. on: March 29, 2016, 03:30:49 PM
Best way? I just click on "pay with bitcoin" when checking out.  Huh

I scan the receiving address with my phone or put it in a client and send.
1855  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] firearms with BTC on: March 28, 2016, 07:13:46 PM
I don't know what the big deal is? I buy all my guns with bitcoin now. I like central Texas gun works best, they are fast, helpful, carry a full line. I have bought three or four guns from them and had no problems.

There is nothing "dark web" about it. You will still be subject to the many, many laws required to buy. The only difference is paying with bitcoin. Oh, and the price is 3% lower when paying with bitcoin since credit card fees are not part of the deal!
1856  Economy / Speculation / Continued FUD threads a bullish sign! on: March 28, 2016, 04:16:05 PM
I see our resident FUD producer is still creating new accounts each day just to post about how BTC is going to zero, or some such nonsense. Considering how this has gone on for many months (a year?), it is a big investment in time and effort. The only logical reason for someone to do this is an attempt to suppress prices as part of a buying strategy. That is a bullish sign in my estimation. Our poster seems to believe that without his constant warnings the price will just keep increasing and diminish his opportunities to buy.

Thanks FUD poster! Your helping us all to get a larger stash.  Wink

fun.  Cheesy
Although to be fair, you were told that pictures are not allowed and not kicked out for talking about bitcoin.

They asked us to step off their grass, they didn't say anything as long as we were on the sidewalk.

However....

Oh, I thought he said photos were a problem for their insurance. Either way it's a pretty ridiculous claim. Especially since you helped buy that building. ...and are paying the insurance premiums.
1858  Economy / Speculation / Re: When are you selling your bitcoins? on: March 28, 2016, 02:25:36 PM
When? I'm not selling my bitcoins. I will spend them over time, but I have little use for dollars.
1859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Anonymous Really Steal ISIS Bitcoins in #OpBrussels? on: March 28, 2016, 02:23:32 PM
I do not see a shred of evidence to support this. Basically a guy in a mask said it happened.  Roll Eyes
