2041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not democratic on: January 21, 2016, 09:06:24 PM
Bitcoin was not created to make the poor rich and bring voting rights to the disenfranchised. It's fair money and fair means you get the same shot as all other users. It does not mean you get something for nothing.

Math is amoral. Not evil or good, amoral.
2042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ToominCoin aka "Bitcoin_Classic" #R3KT on: January 21, 2016, 08:58:24 PM
Well some of us suspected Bitcoin Classic was a trojan horse meant to change governance and than switch to BIP101 and the numbers are indeed reflecting that --

Up at the highest rated approval we have BIP101

https://bitcoin.consider.it/BIP101

Democracy in action folks! Letting the mobs of idiots and people who want to destroy bitcoin, vote for its future.... wonderful.
Those "mobs of idiots" may not agree with you, but this is a consensus network and nobody gets to choose who votes. I have yet to see a better idea than the consider.it software that Michale developed. I met with him prior to the launch and he is a smart guy who is trying to put out tools for bringing this to a conclusion. I see little effort around here to anything but make noise. We need more people like him.
2043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon is obsessed with Bitcoin and probably lurking on this forum on: January 21, 2016, 08:40:52 PM
Well, it is his business to know why his business is being replaced by a better system.  Wink
2044  Other / Meta / Re: Paid to Post: is it acceptable? on: January 21, 2016, 06:58:29 PM
I assume the FUD-spam posts here are paid for. The sheer volume of posts is so great that it is illogical to think they are just for fun.
2045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think might be holding back Bitcoin's success? on: January 21, 2016, 05:34:44 PM
Holding back? for me this is happening at a shockingly fast pace. I thought it would take 10 years to get to the place we are now.
2046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why arnt we seeing more bitcoin ATM popping up? on: January 21, 2016, 05:32:02 PM
In the U.S. the answer can be found in the question "Do you have a money transmitter license?" And if you want to expand you will need one for each state. Some states charge millions of dollars for this license.
Another historic vestige of bank power, a law to keep the "little man" (that's you and me) out of the money.
2047  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why not use Paypal for accepting payments? on: January 21, 2016, 04:36:22 PM
Try it and see what happens to your money. That will answer your question with a painful lesson.

2049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon Hints "If Bitcoin Gets Big, Governments will Stop it!" on: January 21, 2016, 02:52:19 PM
Stop me? lol, silly government.  Cheesy
2050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Same person at WP: Dec 28 "Bitcoin will change the world" - Jan 19 "RIP Bitcoin" on: January 21, 2016, 02:37:20 PM

I think, like most media outlets, they are no longer in the news business. They are in the page hit based advertising business. What is written is not what pays the bills, what matters is getting us to click that link and view that add.
2051  Economy / Speculation / Re: Here we go sub 400! on: January 20, 2016, 08:50:40 PM
Why is it almost every single one of you guys just ignore the utterly broken fundamentals?

I am not aware of any broken fundamentals.
Could you enlighten me?☺
kwukduck enlighten you? hahahahah that's a good one man.  Cheesy
2052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it a sin to gamble? on: January 20, 2016, 07:01:04 PM
Yes, yes it is. Among the major Abrahamic religions gambling is an insult to God since you are putting your faith in chance rather than God.It is also sometimes considered usury.
Don't worry though, many of the things you do everyday are considered abominations. Things like eating anything from the water without fins. Or failing to shave the head of a woman without a veil. We live in a time when you can do whatever you want and easily find another person who thinks God is fine with that.  Wink

Deuteronomy 4:2

Gambling is not even mentioned in the entire bible, it is not a sin.

Leviticus 16:8, “And Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats, one lot for the Lord and the other lot for the scapegoat."

1 Chronicles 25:8, "And they cast lots for their duties, all alike, the small as well as the great, the teacher as well as the pupil."

Psalm 22:18, "They divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots."

Matthew 27:35, "And when they had crucified Him, they divided up His garments among themselves by casting lots."

Acts 1:26, "And they drew lots for them, and the lot fell to Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles."

In the bible it is called "casting lots". Which is a religious act because the believers do not think randomness is possible. God determines the outcome of a gamble.  Not that I believe any of these things.

2054  Economy / Speculation / Re: China central bank going to release their own digital currency good for bitcoin? on: January 20, 2016, 04:22:39 PM
Bank issued digital currency?  Nothing could be further from bitcoin.  Basicly a digital yuan.
Yes. Other countries have already tried this, like the Canadian "mint chip", but it lacks all the most important features of bitcoin. the value, production, and distribution are under central control. It can only be used with official permission and only for approved uses. It is not money, it is a useless coupon.
2055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin is Dead" - Mike Hearn on: January 20, 2016, 02:52:42 PM
Bitcoin as of now is certainly not going to get out of the hundreds section. ...

Based on what?
2056  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin (shitcoin) is dying on: January 19, 2016, 07:02:02 PM
I lost count of how many times I've seen bitcoin "die".
It's like a game, IMO. Bitcoin has an infinite life where it can respawn again and again.
Bitcoin is immortal, no one can kill it. Roll Eyes
I think your right. People keep wanting to treat bitcoin like a stock or commodity. Those assets can die because the money they solicit is needed by the business. Bitcoin has no backer and the system worked fine when there were a couple hundred of us. If the price goes down, so what. I remember reading that bitcoin can't work if it is ever worth $1. In reality the price does not matter.

I completely agree with you.  But is nice so see greedy sheeps which suddenly become full of fear.
lol, yes. And all because a guy they don't know said something they don't really understand. Mike can have his opinions and that's cool. But a lot of his ideas are just not popular. As far as I can tell nobody want's colored coins, for example. I think he is forgetting that, developer or not, he has no authority in the bitcoin space.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....

Uh oh, get the paddles.

Clear! "Zaaap"

beep beep beep

Ok, I get a pulse.

How is that guys wild baseless guess delusional while your wild baseless guess is some kind of fact? None of us knows, right?
