Oblox, is not fudding he was just giving his honest opinion. Fudding in this forums means making stuff up or trying to intentionally manipulate people.

I mostly agree, but...

The SpreadX11 came from a mistake in playing with the blocktemplate which is currently the sole selling point of this coin.

... this is as "made up" as it gets.

It will be bias as it comes from Flare, one of the members of the DRK team, but:

"What i got from the Spreadcoin thread is that the developer originally (by accident) changed the layout of the blocks, by using 64bit timestamps, which caused all X11 miners not to work anymore. It must have been this moment when he realized that this flaw could be a potential unique selling point of the coin: Not to be mineable in pools. So instead of fixing the coin, he decided to alter the block layout again, so that the address of the miner is part of the block, which means miners can cheat the pools, as the block is getting paid to the miner and not to the pool."

There are very few people that understand the technical workings of how things work in crypto, but Flare is one (and also one I respect). Mr Spread can obviously refute this if he so desires.
Mr. Spread said he changed the layout to 64 bit to fix the year 2106 problem.
He obviously didn't know external miners didn't work until after.

Also there is a quote somewhere of the very early OP and he says "I'm trying to do something but I don't know if it will work" or something. Clearly it was not an accident.

edit:

Hi all!

I'm pretty new to this world of cryptocurrencies and I want to launch my own coin.

Here are its parameters:
Algorithm: X11
Block generation: 10 minutes
Difficulty retargets: every block
Initial reward: 66.66666666 coins per block
Block reward is smoothly halved every 4 years
Total supply: 20 mln coins

I may change these parameters in the future. In particular, I want to implement my own mining algorithm which I think will be great but I'm not yet sure if it is possible to do what I want.

Launch time: in one hour (9:00 UTC).

Hey guys, I just got back from the future in my Time Machine.

I took this screenshot and saved to my 1Tb thumbstick USB 3.1. Luckily its backwards compatible with 3.0. Smiley

Is it possible to deploy more than one SPR MN in my LAN since SPR MNs don't require static IP??  Huh
I want to know this too. Mr. Spread's MN GUI picture shows multiple masternodes in control under one wallet. But he may just be using 3 different ip's.

Hey guys, how many satoshi in a Bitcoin? 10.000.000 right?
100,000,000 satoshis. Because 1 bitcoin has 8 decimals.
1286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 24, 2015, 07:51:38 AM
1 MN with 10K DRK vs 10 MNs with 1K DRK respectively
Is the profit the same ?
anyone knows? thx~
Each masternode is paid out the exact same amount regardless of how much drk is inside.

So 10MNs with 1k DRK would be 10x as profitable as the 10k.

How do I set up the client for outgoing connections?

I have 90+ connections, does that mean I have outgoing connections?
I think a static IP is neccessary.
Why do you think that? Because it isn't.

So I thought it might be cool to upload some pics of my mining operation.  Right now the GPU's are mining SPR and the scrypt asics are mining for BTC which gets converted to SPR  Grin.

I started in the home office with some R9 290's but got quickly kicked out into the garage due to heat and noise.

Once I found the 750ti's I was able to swap out the R9 290's and sneak (4) into the home office computer again!  Shhh - she may not know!  Roll Eyes

How about others load some pics to show off their operation?

Nice setup. What's the power bill like?

new update for the spreacointalk forum:

in the top right menu bar you will find the real time (1 min) price of SPR and its daily volume.

Enjoy.

PS at the moment it is obviously only gathering bittrex data, but I will adjust that the more exchanges we get.
AWESOME!!
Can you also add the auto updating thread pages like darkcointalk?

I really hope this is real but I don't think it is.

If it really is real that would be awesome. Neg. feedback left until proof is shown.

1294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Winklevoss twins look to legitimize Bitcoin with a regulated US exchange on: January 23, 2015, 09:42:27 PM
Quote
Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss think they have the answer to Bitcoin's rocky 2014 and tumbling value: a "fully regulated" Bitcoin exchange based in the United States. If Bitcoin is to break through as the frictionless payment method many believe it can be, it must evolve into "an ecosystem that is free of hacking, fraud and security breaches," wrote Cameron Winklevoss in a blog post announcing the Gemini exchange.

Quote
And US currency on Gemini will qualify for FDIC insurance, a measure that should have investors confident that funds will be "as safe and secure as they are in your bank account today."

So, who's ready for the price to rise again?

OS X Yosemite.

That font must be using unknown characters. Right?

Does a copy/past bring up anything?
1297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 23, 2015, 08:20:09 PM
- The block reward was reduced by 90% after block 2200 for no apparent reason.
Time between blocks was reduces from 10 to 1 minute.

Does this mean that the next insta/flashmine will be 10 times as bountiful ?
Hmm, lets see...

So instead of 10 minute blocks with 66.66 reward, we're getting 1 minute blocks with 6.66 reward.

It makes sense that the difficulty would be devided by 10 = 90% decrease.

So over 10 minutes, the block reward stays the same either way.

6.66 * 10 = for one minute blocks
or
66.66 = for 10 minute blocks

Mr. Spread also told everyone exactly how to mine: setgenerate true
It's not like he lied to anyone. He also lost all of the coins he mined. (at least I hope that's true) So any instamine would be gone.

The bot doesn't really do anything as far as I can see... It only loops the CPU at 100%. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Also, still no source code posted. It would be great to be able to compile it from source and run it in a small machine (like a Raspberry) 24/7
It "found" two blocks for me but they were both rejected.

He says in PM that it's going to take over 24 hours to upload a 1 hour 30 minute video.
If we were to assume it's 2GB that'd be uploading at ~23kB/s
That's about my upload speed. When it isn't raining of course. When it is, I get 2kB/s. There must be a fault in the line somewhere where water is getting in.

Edit: Thanks for that link to the website in your signature. Really helpful.
