1341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Surely the first crypto to succeed.... on: April 13, 2013, 10:53:27 AM
Cryptocurrency is about freedom. Freedom to exchange it for fiat too  Wink
1342  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: So how much is 1 bitcoin worth in USD? on: April 13, 2013, 10:49:11 AM
Oh.. so these 25 I read about, it is the 25 bit coins gifted to whoever finds the block.

Which as a pool, the administrator of the pool gets all the money from blocks found, and pays each contributor to the pool a smaller amount for their portion of work. That makes sense.

I'm beginning to understand now.

and so those people with like 1500 bitcoins screenshot, is just ridiculous and clearly fake. Because otherwise they would have $170,000 worth of bitcoins.
Hello, bitcoin is a billion dollar economy so there are a lot of people that have 1500 or more bitcoins. Especially since months ago the price was much much lower  Wink
1343  Economy / Speculation / Re: To who whined about early adopters that bought cheap coins: now coins are cheap on: April 13, 2013, 10:41:44 AM
Well, even after the 2011 bubble, the price dropped at most at 2, much higher than cents, but still, much lower than 32.

The price now is increasing, this may be the last chance to buy bitcoins at a such cheap price.

...the verge of breaking into the mainstream, and hitting the critical tipping point.  It was about to explode like never before.
No it wasn't.

For this to happens, infrastructures all around the world would have to be made, and that takes TIME. Merchants learning how it works and adapting their websites, new software, new services, this takes time. It is 4 years that bitcoin is growing, faster and faster, but it can't just explode and be used all over the world in a handful of days.
The price was increasing too fast, it was a bubble, no more supported by the real economy of bitcoin.
The bitcoin economy is growing, today like yesterday like tomorrow, what happened didn't slow it. It only corrected an absurd price. Today is not time for 260$, it will be in the future, very soon, but not today.

I've been using MtGox, but I typically don't store for more than a few days.
i don't know if its the best idea but i use btc-e and vicurex as online wallets, they both can do what you want

Incoming fail  Undecided
1348  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: At its most basics, is a private key the only thing needed to use a wallet? on: April 13, 2013, 10:03:13 AM
Yes  Wink That is how brain wallets work. But if you use a paperwallet, choose a decent passphrase  Cheesy
1349  Economy / Speculation / To who whined about early adopters that bought cheap coins: now coins are cheap on: April 13, 2013, 10:02:03 AM
So in the past weeks i was reading about people that were like "omg early adopters bought cheap coins, while we can buy them only at 250, it is unfair"

Yeah well, now they are at 100, and some days ago even lower. If what you say is not epic trolling, then NOW is the time to buy.  Smiley Or you will come back when bitcoin will be at 500 crying "too high!" ?
1350  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: At its most basics, is a private key the only thing needed to use a wallet? on: April 13, 2013, 09:57:19 AM
Yup
1351  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did I screw up? on: April 13, 2013, 09:52:45 AM
Today it is at 112

You bought at 103? Congratulation, you are making profit  Cheesy
1352  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What does it mean that your bitcoin wallet is synchronizing? on: April 13, 2013, 09:47:35 AM
It means it is downloading the whole blockchain, 8 GB of transactions. The Bitcoin-qt node is a full node, it will download the whole blockchain.

If you prefer, get a lightweight client like Multibit, much much faster  Wink Full nodes are required for the bitcoin network to work, but if you run your client only some minutes each day there is no need to have it  Wink
1353  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stay safe. on: April 12, 2013, 11:04:56 PM

1355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need your help! HUGE german television station got a Voting about Bitcoin on: April 12, 2013, 09:25:33 PM
And by the way - a vote on a web page changes nothing.

Doing nothing changes nothing. Positive action moves the earth. It all starts with one person taking action.
This! 4 years ago Satoshi put a software on a website, available to everyone. Today it is a billion dollar economy, growing.
1356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need your help! HUGE german television station got a Voting about Bitcoin on: April 12, 2013, 09:24:40 PM
In Italy we have to pay like 200€ each year, it is the "tax to have a television", money used for the national channels... yeah well, wasted money.  Roll Eyes
1357  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Warning, job finished? What sorcery is this? on: April 12, 2013, 09:07:08 PM
