1381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 25, 2013, 10:57:19 AM
I was just taking a look to this prediction for a Jupiter:

http://btcinvest.net/en/bitcoin-mining-profit-calculator.php?diff=148623691.94537259&dcosts=7500&diff_mincrease=35&blpbtc=25&dhsmhs=500000&diff_mincreasedecrease=3&btcusd=128.53&dpowcon=650&btcusd_mincrease=0&pcost=0.25&calcweeks=20&dleadtime=1&action=calc#

Some notes:
- Optimistic hashrate of 500GH/s
- The cost of 7500 is including upgrade from Saturn to Jupiter, sending costs, power supply, etc.
- The difficulty setting I think that is conservative as it decreases too fast when we know that many asics are coming and it will contain higher jumps.
- If they deliver one week later is even worst.

Even registered as a company with electricity expenses covered and mining device as company expenses I don't really see any point. I am seriously thinking to cancel my order. Do you really think that there are still chances for ROI? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

cancel that shit....be a naysayer on your bad decisions elsewhere  Tongue
1382  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: VMC -- FAST HASH. $6/GH on: September 25, 2013, 10:55:02 AM
There are other methods to be able to accept CC payments such as through foursquare or even woocommerce...its beyond very easy to get a paypal business account setup.  Do you plan to buy chips from another asic vendor such as bfl chips or bfury chips?  If you do plan to fabricate your own chips (now I'm remembering that you quoted having a 1MM NRE investment cost on design, what will the cell nanometer size be?)  Why did you decide to become a shareholder with VMC?

Its obvious that you have a strong interest in getting hardware sold.  Its clear that you have the lowest order queue because you are offering obscure information and non-reversible payment methods.  Whats been confusing for me with your cart is - I can order a bunch of TH power but am I required to order additional cases?  can I forgo the cases altogether?  Why can't I just buy the chips off you?  Its clear that you guys plan to use off the shelf components and maybe I just want to diy a miner myself???  (I don't but I am speculating for those who may want to)
1383  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: **US** BitFury Setup Guide on: September 25, 2013, 12:09:51 AM
If any of you with 100gh/s or more want an invite to giga's private pool (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=206181.0) just let me know. My Bitfury starter kit is getting 0.03% reject rate there.

honest question - why would I join a private pool instead of a large one like btcguild or bitminter or eligious?
1384  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: September 24, 2013, 09:54:49 PM
Finally Took the plunge w/ block erupters cause they are  SUPER Cheap (mine were 23 dollars out the door, shipping included).

Before you have something to say....It will be relegated to mining alt coins come february.

1385  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: USB miner issues on: September 23, 2013, 11:58:03 PM
I tried this and it seemed to work on one Erupter but not the other two...When I restarted the PC I still had issues....its ok though...I got a free copy of Windows 7 pro to install on this machine instead.
1386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] BTC for everyday purchases on: September 23, 2013, 09:22:49 PM
You missed the biggest motivator PURCHASING POWER PARITY!!!!!!  If I can pay with btc and the price is like 5000 USD per btc that's like a mortgage payment from 1 BTC!!! A lot more people would be using btc to buy things if it were priced high enough.  Hoarding mentality is happening at the moment because of its low price and people not wanting to lose out from potential payout on appreciation
1387  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: How do you run BFGminer as a blade proxy?? on: September 23, 2013, 10:10:53 AM
correct me if I'm wrong but I thought stratum was already built in, you simply need to set your options as -S All  on the command line arguments and you're all set.
1388  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: USB miner issues on: September 23, 2013, 10:08:33 AM
spent my weekend dealing with Vista Hell back to Windows XP (I don't feel the urge to learn Linux just yet but was inches away from picking up bamt)  and now I seem to be almost back to where I was with having my 33 (for now) BEs back working again with BFG miner.  I see that when I plug them into windows I get Two Code 42s (duplicate devices detected) and one single Code 39 I believe well its the one that says windows failed to load drivers for * device.  I can't seem to figure out how to fix this (there was a post somewhere where it was mentioned to regedit the upper limit on USB devices but that wasn't on my computer so it didnt help)  Any ideas on how I can get them to work?  (I had them all working successfully before until Vista decided to keep itself on a reset loop and I was forced to use a burned copy of windows xp)

Asking now because I'm adding another 10 or so tomorrow.
1389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many Bitcoin users are there? on: September 22, 2013, 11:31:16 AM
I can confirm that there are about half a million active users (active defined as owned, sent or recieved bitcoins in the last month timeframe).

I have confirmed this throught thinking about it intensely.

hell yea the power of positive throught!    I'd say the proportion of users with online wallets is probably very large.   Thats pretty nice that at this moment theres less than a million ppl in btc.  Makes you wonder how many ltc or other coin users exist
1390  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or K1? A List. on: September 20, 2013, 08:05:25 PM
http://www.vantecusa.com/en/product/view_detail/465

Confirm have had 6 Devices running on this constantly for 2 weeks now. No problems.

Edit: Product name & ID: Vantec 10 Port Hub Hi-Speed USB 2.0 - UGT-PH210

Tested here to confirm that is the case they can handle 5 if several things are connected but 6 if nothing else is connected.....argh impossible to find a 10 port 3Amp 12V charger locally

Could I simply source my own AC adapter that puts out 48 WATTS and swap it onto my existing hub?  are there volt regulators or other component that could be a fire issue if i do this?  are there some watt limits or gage
1391  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [NSFW] I quit my job to focus on my bitcoin porn business on: September 20, 2013, 12:12:32 AM
who feels the need compel their last job (its not like I'm valuating you as successful or anything)  People don't pay for porn in fiat what makes you think they'd give away something even more valuable?
1392  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: knc chips picture on: September 19, 2013, 11:47:19 PM
BFLs got a ton of pictures of chips and mining equipment, and they're still scamming people left and right. "Our shipping queue will be fully shipped by the end of September." ... Yeah, right... and pigs can fly.

Actually, for the last week, every day BFL has been able to ship about 10-15 days' worth of Single SC pre-orders. For example yesterday alone, they shipped all the Oct 3-17, 2012 pre-orders: https://forums.butterflylabs.com/blogs/bfl_jody/

There are ~330 days of pre-orders remaining to ship, so at this rate they should need merely 20-30 more days to ship everything, which is approximately mid October.

Plus, the number of pre-orders almost certainly slowed down in late 2012 and through 2013, so again assuming they can just maintain the current rate of shipping, we should see BFL able to ship a lot more than 10-15 days's worth of Single SC pre-orders... so their "end of September" estimate seems absolutely plausible.

Addendum: it is a different story for Jalapenos and Mini-Rigs... BFL is outsourcing Jalapenos, and seem to have a lot of issues producing Mini-Rigs, so they might not finish shipping these 2 product lines any time soon.

FWIW....hella people....me included.....have since Chargeback cancelled our orders as KNC offers double hashpower at 500 bucks cheaper.  The choice was beyond obvious to ditch bfl...that is likely why they can now fulfilll a shiton of orders.  Factor in the tradeins to the BFL monarch for all the fools who part way with their money and it explains why they can all of the sudden 'breeze through' a bigass order queue.

I always saw you Bitcoinorama as one of the few sane people with useful things to say on this forum. 80% of the people here don't know anything and just either parrot others, or just spread FUD as if its in style.

better to be a parrot than to be a parrot spreading FUD though right?

And I deserve some promised apologies. So with all due respect to those that promised they had the balls to do so once the time came, it's now. I wasn't lying, I never have been, and i'm happy to forgive, and let bygones be bygones.

Credit, where credit's due, I told the truth, and received no payment for my efforts. I just wanted to put an end to the scamming madness around the end of April on, and school some peeps on making secure pre-order purchases.

So in all fairness my heart was, and always has been in the right place (with a level head i'd like to think as well).

There's also a tip jar if anyone fancies buying me a drink! Wink

"Customers have already ordered several thousand."
"According to Johan Rilegård the company has already received a few thousand orders for boxes"

"The circuits are at 150 watts each"

Wow their comments are either like "wow...digital money is here!" or  "Warning - this is a ponzi/prymid scheme and it wastes too much electricity!"  (types that say that are also the ones who will often leave their tv on at night while they are asleep)  Clearly its working for some folks otherwise difficulty would have remained flat.
1395  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: List of factories that make FPGA bitcoin mining machines on: September 19, 2013, 12:08:58 PM
FPGA....why....would a bunch of people ask such a thing - they don't really scale up correctly for more hashpower so you are required to move towards asics for more power.   Why do you think that is?  My only guess is that guys are thinking the next step is to pump a bunch of RAM into an FPGA and somehow convert it over into a SCRYPT sort of thing.
1396  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Discontinued: Lancelot (Heavy Duty 400 Mega hashes, 2 x FPGA Mining Board) on: September 19, 2013, 12:06:09 PM
your website is still in dev but its basically a cookie cutter template so much that you have VOIP and cell phonesy stuff graphics on your homepage...you were ahead by just keeping it hidden until your site was live...also....why announce things like this early?  Why not just announce when they are available so that people can be able to pay for them and recieve them right away...I dont want to give you my money in advance so that you can go out and build the thing with my proceeds to fulfill orders...that may not be what's going on...but you're making it feel like that IS the case.

1398  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [POLL] Should mining hardware co's open up their order books like the exchanges? on: September 19, 2013, 11:15:17 AM
No way - that's almost a step towards communism if you ask me...lol kidding aside, it would be a nice gesture and would likely earn a mining hardware manufacturer respect if they shown an anonymous order book that gives ETA and also a list of orders in queue - but that would DEFINITELY work against the vendor as shit like BFL and 4+ week backorder books will be a de-motivator to order from those folks as you will be aware that you can't seem to get hardware off the shelf and immediately.

I am curious as to whether or not there will EVER be an off the shelf device that can be priced to achieve ROI - my feels are no, never, as it would be in the interest of a certain YIFU type to simply mine with the hardware until the difficulty makes it just slightly unprofitable at 10X the hardware fiat cost of goods sold.

anyone do an ROI chart on getting a fast food job instead of using all their time speculating on miner ROI?

Made me LOL - so true

I have to keep reminding myself that this is a labour of love
