I'm using it.... works as advertised except Gox fucked up a trx and I'm waiting for btc to come through to buy more hash power. Considering that its cheaper than buying block erupters but u get 3x the hash power its by far a better deal than bit fury and any basicminer products like the blade or block erupter. If you have coin you could buy hash power for a few weeks then sell it back...it makes a method for you to earn interest on btc...but I say keep an eye on it I could see great losses if I try to sell it for too low. |

Well maintained, hardly used unit, this Volcano has been in my possession for maybe 18 months. I've used it here and there and want to now part ways with it. I used this laptop for a while (4 months) but to be honest its not as portable as I wanted it to be (very lightweight though and it has a lot of memory for intensive applications such as Adobe CS or Solidworks3d. The system has been wiped and is setup for first time installation. This laptop was my baby for the months I had it but its time to move on. Other than the slight wear marks on the keyboard and touchpad from average use, this unit is pretty much brand new - also includes all cables, boxes, documentation, and even receipt for hardware warranty, should i be necessary.

I had no idea that your company existed...but I heard of your company through the bitcoin talk forum. I am simply one person but I do have a fair bit of bitcoins and would be willing to use them, down the line, particularly if there were real world services that accepted them such as airlines.
I have seen 3rd party travel agents that likely accept btc and convert it to local fiat currency to spend. This is okay, but larger companies definitely need to be more forthcoming and accepting of this concurrency in order for adoption to happen faster.
By accepting bitcoins your company can gain several advantages -
lower transaction fees
quicker acceptance of funds ( an hour as opposed to one - two settlement days with credit cards )
it is a one way transaction that cannot be reversed or erased
its secure
your company would be a first mover that is known for supporting the cryptocurrency economy...more users would flock to you for adopting usage and
you could see an entire new segment of customers with disposable bitcoins (like me!)
if you choose to not cash out the bitcoins now, you could allow them to sit and appreciate to a higher price which would allow you to gain substantially from the increase in value.

you will never see a machine that can deliver consistent ROI ready off the shelf...Its called market efficiency to self correct. People will use up their past roi to throw money into the bubble until either the asic mfgs jack the price up too high too soon (whats happened between April and Now) or until too many new competing asic vendors come around and btc mining hardware is overproduced as a result. Diff will always become skyhigh when hardware is quickly available with substantial ROI. I think Value of hardware relates to the price of btc also which explains the hardware price jumps back in March.

You say these things but... people will always hope "what if..." and buy preorders anyway. Why do you think Nigerian scammers still try and scam? Because some people fall for it; and some is all they need.
I used to ignore you (I don't now after reading the block erupter blade guide) but overall you're cool folks. I'd say that the nigerian scam happens because that is all they can realistically get away with there. Try that shit on a local their and you're likely to get something like your head chopped off. I only buy preorders on stuff like GTAV (yea i know pathetic) but in the asics game...you don't really have a choice. Its as the fry gif says "shut up and take my bitcoin!!!!!!" You try to be smart about it and you end up gettting passed by folks who are riskier than you and willing to get in line to get their hardware up and running before you. All of us who talked shit about people who bought block erupters that had been hashing since 2011...they obvously saw that the savings from power was worthwhile to buying up the Block erupters...and that having the btc to be able to buy them up in bulk allowed them to also participate in the re-seller pyramid which kept prices high. Its just like this - would you pay for 500 GH in Early november or would you pay the same amount for 2 TH in January? Which would win? Because there is a moving target and the difficulty instantly becomes skyhigh once a majority of preorder has been delivered towards the end of Dec, that 2 TH in January is now akin to 250 GH that would have been preordered at the time you bought the 400 GH. ( I don't have concrete data or details as Im armchair calculating this ) Looking for compelling reasons to disagree with the above mentioned statement. |

If they do continuous shipping....do you think it will be unloaded all at once or in these increments like I noted? I cannot remember how to calculate the difficulty nor what the expected addition to the network is (I keep seeing 500 TH thrown around) I would say then break down the distribution equally (in theory it will happen organically with some happening on some days an a bunch happening on others) I know though that if its all dumped at once it will more quickly hit difficulty level as opposed to over a 3 week period. Here's a question - has anyone done the math to see what the profitability will be in switching over to an alt-coin early? I know for a good while when the difficulty was approaching unprofitability for GPU's other miners were able to make more profit mining alts, then trading them for bitcoin than they were just mining bitcoin.
Is it possible to use their devices for mining alternative coins? Any proofs from manufacturer(KnCMiners)? Somewhere I had read that impossible. KnCMiners designed only for bitcoin mining. No? sha256 alts of course....scrypt or scrypt-jane NO |

It's pie in the sky, but I have to imagine they know they absolutely must to pull this off. Its bad enough that they dumped the price by over 2K for what is now suppose to be just a month of lead time, but considering the lion share of KNC's money will in theory come from re-investors, they have to make sure they don't burn the initial investors. I'm not sure how they are going to do this but they are smart guys, they must know this has to happen to be long term solvent.
But then again, they have till Monday to show good on their promise, and we shall see by then if KNC can keep its promise, and by how much they intend to over-deliver.
they collected quite some money, devices are way overpriced, they could send 2xamount of hashing power ordered and would still make profit ...but guess what...we're living in a capitalistic world, I do not except anything as 'compensation' - but would much appreciate it for sure bet my bottom satoshi that their version of compensation is the 'substantial hashpower' guys....we do need to relax...after Oct 14th, by all means grab your pitchforks. Delivered in my eyes could also mean "I delivered to the world.....a 28 nm asic btc miner" did we lose our bitbets - sure we definitely did....but if we get units in week 1 october, its a major win in comparison to BFL or avalon post batch 1s. |

And if punin isn't joking about being ready to start shipping October orders shortly after the frist of October, it's going to be an interesting couple of weeks, difficulty increase wise. It may be BF and KNC...
I missed that. Buzzdave's last thing seemed to imply the end of october. Ahh, the chinese curse  Dave has another 100TH mine to build so he will probably be late (I hope it is not the case). August orders were pushed aside because building 100TH was a priority. We're suppose to be paid/credited for the delay but so far I have not seen anything. As for Octobers orders, he might surprise us this time, but then again, they already tasted the power of 50TH+ doing solo, so they might want to add 100TH+ to the current setup. There is a "hashing war" going on right now. BFL is doing its best to ship all of their gen1 products before they become completely unusable. Once all bitfuries and bfls are out, that KNC miner might not be as hot as when you bought it. The good thing is that by spring of next year, it will be all over. Plenty of in-stock 28nm products (or equivalent) and 12 months ROI. Just like GPUs. That is why buying pre-orders (regardless of specs) does not make any sense. Network diff might be 2PH, or it might be 200PH 3 months from now. Ya know, I think this is the first time I've seen this. I'm a little stunned. Your post makes sense and I largely agree with you. Two things I didn't think would ever happen. The pre-order game made sense a few months ago, if you could get in on the first wave. At this point, wait and see coupled with only buy "in hand" hardware seems a wiser game. I couldnt disagree more - the buy in hand hardware and you are paying 2-10x what you should as there is a higher demand than supply for asics hardware. |
