But when to buy back in...dammit. Should have bought when it dipped to $298.

I haven't been this close to throwing my laptop in a long time. I have to much money invested here to not have it up and running. You'd think there'd be verified operational SD images we could download along with an up to date how to guide.
Okay I got your msg. I'm uploading my v3 img to my own cloud storage and will share a link here when its uploaded. Its V3 Image with BFGminer. Just remember to do sudo passwd to set a new password for Root. This is a 3.68 GB file so it will likely take me all night for it to get carried over. but I will have the link for you, likely by tomorrow morning. Too bad you're not in the bay area, I would just drop off a copy to you.

|
|
For a heads up, I'm going to be out for about 4-5 hrs. So I won't be able to try anything until then.
I have this but its a huge file like 3.68 GB...how can I share the file with you? (includes working copy of bfgminer and v3 chainminer compiled onto image.

I will buy broken block erupters for .002 BTC each right now. I will even buy working ones for if you were interested in selling me those. I plan to redesign them as lapels to wear for enthusiasts.
If you are interested in purchasing one to wear I sell them currently for .02 BTC plus .006 postage. I currently have the following lapels available for purchase: 1x) Magenta, 1x) Black 1X) Silver
I will list them as they become available for purchase.
Join us in the bitcoin awareness movement today!
Remember this is for BROKEN Block erupters too - if you accidentally plugged some into 12V connections I will buy them off you! Additional .001 per device for including original packaging too!
I need to be able to resell these so if you have shot these with your gun or you have ran these over with your truck, or you've immersed these into mineral oil - I will not be interested in your devices.
I don't mind escrow for larger lots.

But after it was working and when i saw it reach 640 for a brief moment on this same psu and not shut down...it gave me that boost in morale to "keep calm and carry on"
was this 640 from the pool or in Chainminer? i'm consistently getting higher readings from the pool. Chainminer - Didn't stay high long enough to be observed from the pool Decided to lock in my case (using v2 spotswood case for this) Its a bitch dealing with taking the cards out and tuning them, but it seems necessary to keep the cards still in case airflow from the fans causes a slight wobble which causes the boards to cut out. Say...when the card cuts out like this...is that the equivalent to "NO HOTSWAPPING!"? It would seem that the cut off board would either surge the voltage across the other boards or cause the entire bank to fail. I also fried my 1st raspberry pi trying to make my own 2in gpio cable so that the pi wouldnt be hanging off the edge. The pi wasnt totally dead, but it was acting like the card image got corrupted - turns on with red pwr light only but that's it. Is this Pi done for?

but putting in one night of work and calling it Bad is sortof shortsighted...
To be absolutely clear, I'm not calling anything bad. Just a bit surprised that we seem to collectively be having some trouble getting these v3 rigs humming along, stably. Eagerly awaiting updates and info on how to get our babies nice and happy. I wont lie...I was really pissed off the 1st night I got it because it just kept shutting down...and I was under the presumption that my 700W psu wasnt enough because it kept powering off. But after it was working and when i saw it reach 640 for a brief moment on this same psu and not shut down...it gave me that boost in morale to "keep calm and carry on"

Guys....you need to use a tiny screwdriver and tune down the voltage a bit...also its looking like we need to keep the cards still so I will likely be taking my fans off the top of my cards too if I can. From what others are saying... I think this will help guys...Would you have wanted the cards to be perfect....7 days from now? Because it seems like there would be more waiting. Not here to take MBP's side per say...but putting in one night of work and calling it Bad is sortof shortsighted...I waited at least a few days (contacted MBP for help, did tuning one by one, and I did apply heatsinks as I knew that if it had worked perfectly out the box I wouldve put in the same time to have it hashing high like 600+. Just try more stuff and report failure after trying our suggestions before coming back on here upset.

Ok, it looks like it just runs the make and doesn't need the make install part, I have yet to compile their miner so I wasn't sure. No harm done however.
Don't compile it from source. Use Psftp (acts as FTP over ssh) find on putty.org use this post from dave to get a copy of v3 chainminer: Hi guys - a couple quick notes on some of the themes I've been seeing in emails & forum threads: -new cards are factory overclocked to .865v. You shouldn't have to turn them up from there - though you could turn them down if you want. -a fully overclocked rig will do 575G - 600G with proper cooling. By proper, I mean use the three fan power headers on the M-board. Point an additional box fan at it for good measure. Don't run it in a 90-degree basement -if your rig is too hot, you will see cards thermal-cycling. Hashrate will be good, then drop to zero or very low for a while, then go high, back to zero, etc. The mining software has been tuned for the V3 rigs. Basically the speed parameter is turned down from 55 to 52. Here's a link to the V3 chainminer software: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qtykkb1tyosbykw/CVrcVszQyyA link to the new image is coming soon - this has the changes Jared made for the network settings and the smart IP assignment bits. I've disabled store sales - we've still got old-style H-cards and M-boards, as well as V3 stuff, but new prices are coming. As soon as I put the wraps on the accounting for the last cycle, we'll put up more product at the new (much) lower prices. The credit card merchant account continues to be "almost activated". I've been told repeatedly that there are no blocking problems, but the process is slow. Makes me wish I could use Stripe I hope to have credit card processing in place prior to opening new store sales. Thanks for your patience and emails of support! Regards, Dave now using ssh on putty: mv /opt/bitfury/chainminer /opt/bitfury/chainminer_oldBkp
login to psftp: To do this though, you need to have the psftp.exe file someplace like the desktop: use Start>Run>CMD and cd into the desktop directory or wherever psftp is located: Use the "put" command after logging in: psftp pi@192.168.1.249
password: raspberry
put *your MS dos path of the folder for v3 chainminer* /opt/bitfury/chaininer Now the newest copy of chainminer has been placed onto your SD card - Be sure to run the steps of changing your IP address and gateway. It should be good to go though with the latest copy, no compiling is required.

I need some helping Getting my Rig up and Running. Whoever helps me to get it up and running first gets the .25 BTC Reward. What am I doing wrong here? I downloaded putty.exe so I could ssh into my setup Then on my laptop I entered login (pi) and the password (raspberry) I typed (I have almost no idea what this does, found it on Bitfury Miner Support) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=287590.0cd /opt/bitfury/chainminer sudo make clean sudo make sudo killall screen sudo /etc/rc.local I typed the raspberry pi IP into my url and changed the default mining pool, along with my username and password. I hit start mining and the power goes up to 650 watts or so for a minute and then the system shuts down and it is not a cooling or power issue. How do I get this to mine? try sudo make clean Sudo make Sudo make install Sudo killall screen Sudo /etc/rc.local I have never seen a make build without make install. My img was corrupted too, was yours? 1) Disconnect the pi from the mboard 2) SSH in to the software 3) now copy and paste this into SSH: rm /opt/bitfury/best.cnf ; for i in {1..256} ; do echo -e "$i\tAIfDSo\t52" >> /opt/bitfury/best.cnf ; done (this will change your autotuning settings downward to 52 instead of the default 56 [Dave emailed me directly to say that this was the main difference between V2 chainminer and v3 chainminer], that caused my 700W PSU to cut off too, your miner should stay on now) 4) reconnect the PI to the board and try it again. 5) if your Power still cuts off, Take out all boards and begin with half boards...see if it stays on. If it stays on, let them run for 30 minutes. After those 30 minutes are up check which cards are still hashing. Take note of the cards that are turned off. Now shut of the miner from the web interface, then turn off the miner. Find the smallest screwdriver in existence (seriously...must be smaller than an eyeglasses repair kit screwdriver) and slightly turn the potentiometer screw located on the bottom right side of the board near the big chip that says pulse - turn it a quarter of a turn counterclockwise (to the left). Try them again. 6) repeat step five with all cards until they eventually all stay on. If you have all cards plugged in and the device still cuts off, then you need a stronger PSU (I went with a 700 W PSU and it seems to be doing the trick) 7) Bonus - Keep your cards firmly placed in the slots, this means don't keep fans right on top of the boards as they could wiggle them and shut off the miner. [I mention 7 because to this point ive been getting spotty rates sometimes and I decided to make a small crontab -e job within my chain-miner settings to reset the miner once per hour to avoid random h-cards from turning off but now that I see step 7 since reading the boards today I will do this to prevent the hourly reset that I'm currently doing.] Also, do be sure to set the gateway to match your gateway: Hey guys - I just got word that we sent out your rPi's configured with a weird gateway IP. This is going to make it hard for your rigs to reach the outside world. To fix this you'll need to connect direct to your rPi. Either use keyboard/monitor, or use ssh to connect to it 192.168.1.249 (unless you changed IP). sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces use arrow keys to get down to change this to ...or whatever your gateway IP is. type reboot the rPi Sorry for the trouble! I had to do this twice because things were configured correctly at work but the home router gateway is a different default than usual and no matter what I did, my units refused to start. A symptom was that I could ip into my router but I couldnt see the miner from my router within the attached devices section.

Good job to the dumbass misguided helper who chose the smaller than atomic particle Potentiometers (something just a little bit bigger that wouldve been easier to catch with a screwdriver would have made all the difference to me) that are too small for anything. Smallest screwdriver I could find in frys barely seems to catch them most of the time. Extremely frustrating when trying to undervolt the cards for the sake of keeping them on.
No kidding Having a helluva time with the smallest screwdriver I could find from Fry's... Not even sure if I'm getting any movement. Get yourself a phone repair kit, the ones that came with my replacement screen fit perfectly. Or an eyeglass repair kit. I had an eyeglass repair kit and it was too big! Hence the trip to Frys.

I was seeming to get good hashrates relatively (like ~520 - 550 GH/s) Just got home see that my rate was around 385 with two dead cards (currently I have my miner restarting once an hour in case that happens...look like it didnt seem to help this last go round ) to restart my miner, in ssh type crontab -e */60 * * * * sudo /opt/bitfury/start-miner.sh
No offense, but this kit is wierd, awkward, lacking, whatever you want to call it. So far I've spent a lot of time: Taking all cards out and slowly adding them and running it for 30 minutes to see how high they go and to attempt to set them to around 30 GH. I tuned the majority of them to stay on, here is my up to the minutes stats from CAT: speed:13312 noncerate[GH/s]:473.076 (1.848/chip) hashrate[GH/s]:486.648 good:330 44 errors:595 spi-err:9 miso-err:6 jobs:369 cores:29% good:256 bad:0 off:0 (best [GH/s]:0.000) Tue Nov 12 02:10:12 2013 0: 832 31.267 32.005 2184 24 1 2 16 0 0 (1.954/chip) 30% 1: 832 19.843 22.460 1386 140 0 4 16 0 0 (1.240/chip) 20% 2: 832 26.700 28.158 1865 86 0 0 16 0 0 (1.669/chip) 26% 3: 832 32.098 33.178 2242 19 1 0 16 0 0 (2.006/chip) 30% 4: 832 34.789 34.816 2430 21 2 0 16 0 0 (2.174/chip) 33% 5: 832 34.231 34.394 2391 26 1 0 16 0 0 (2.139/chip) 32% 6: 832 29.735 30.229 2077 13 0 0 16 0 0 (1.858/chip) 29% 7: 832 28.461 29.384 1988 27 0 0 16 0 0 (1.779/chip) 28% 8: 832 33.028 33.104 2307 21 0 0 16 0 0 (2.064/chip) 32% 9: 832 24.653 25.927 1722 56 1 0 16 0 0 (1.541/chip) 25% A: 832 34.417 34.520 2404 23 0 0 16 0 0 (2.151/chip) 32% B: 832 32.298 32.755 2256 13 0 0 16 0 0 (2.019/chip) 31% C: 832 31.783 32.576 2220 27 0 0 16 0 0 (1.986/chip) 31% D: 832 26.156 27.301 1827 21 0 0 16 0 0 (1.635/chip) 26% E: 832 23.093 24.300 1613 66 1 0 16 0 0 (1.443/chip) 23% F: 832 30.523 31.540 2132 12 2 0 16 0 0 (1.908/chip) 31%
Not terrible but by no means any good by what Dave quoted earlier. (might have increased slightly because my main window shows 475 GH/s) Good job to the dumbass misguided helper who chose the smaller than atomic particle Potentiometers (something just a little bit bigger that wouldve been easier to catch with a screwdriver would have made all the difference to me) that are too small for anything. Smallest screwdriver I could find in frys barely seems to catch them most of the time. Extremely frustrating when trying to undervolt the cards for the sake of keeping them on. I have a SHIT-TON of heat sinks - The only thing I could think to do more now is to buy up another 32 tiny heat sinks to put onto the top and the back of the voltage regulator.

look around for video cards and throw them together to solo mine alt coins. Solo mining brings you back fees that you wouldnt get from a pool plus you're likely to be able to make a return over sha256 and bitcoin alone...although you could also use your BEs to mine sha256 alts too for a gain within the next 60 days here aka 2014

Rich people usually knows how to detect scam. Sorry for your loss, but it is a good lesson for you. i'm not dumb , i'm rich and I wanted an investment for fun. Not knowing much about bitcoin. And I really wasnt prepared for a scam . You can think whatever you want to think 5k euro is not much for me , but its not fun losing it to a fucking scammer!!
If you are really rich and want to play risky bitcoin investments - let me know. comeon guys, not all rich folks are smart - I think its the other way around, there are smart family members and the heir's of these smart people, known in some parts as trust-ifarians, sharp as a marble, folks who just think, fuckit, daddy left me 16 mill, whats 5k on a chance to make a few more mil? But its more than likley not a scammer as he is totally outing the attempt to scam us.

Nah it bottomed at 290...My target of 282 didn't happen...But I was on it and ended up making a net gain of .24 from the past two days (20 minutes yesterday, 30 minutes today) playing the short and I'm OUT. I was tempted to play a little more and probably could've gained another .10 but at the high risk that the price would've peaked back out again while I was holding fiat at where it is ($345) which would've lost my gains. Not bad from leveraging less than 4 coin.

Well, at least if this is a scam, it's better than most. Care to show a picture of the chip itself? Looking forward to some trusted forum members doing some reviews. Good luck on that one. I get it..you need to roll out the marketing so there is a demand for it, but I would instead prefer to see something like Redhash TAV where the product is assembled and ready to sell NOW. This is different thant project wasp or Klondike How? For that matter, what's the deal with naming things after insects? Butterfly, Wasp, Ant, what's next?

What is the FUGLY yellow thing...its blocking my ethernet Jack! Got it...the Ethernet jack itself. The usb hubs seem nice to replace my BE Array. Really though only 160-200GH for 400 Watts? I suppose that is in alignment with a KNC Mercury, but Scalability of hashrate is totally prohibited If you're announcing this, then my guess is you plan to ETA this sucker before year's end. (Or hopefully before Month's end) Yea I need to see pictures of your computer screen hashing to really take things anymore seriously. Showing a guy working on boards that do not resemble your 3d models is not exactly proof of anything.

I read the guides, tried different things. I just cant figure it out.
I have one blockerupter that I just bought and want to solo mine with just because.
All I'm going to say is a waste of time. 25000 days to discover a block Here's a grand Screw you back - maybe he wants to play the lottery and get a chance to make 25+ BTC Let him have his fun don't naysay. To start: Yes, I know the odds of finding a block solo with 5 USB Erupters is definately not in my favour. No, I will not buy a lottery ticket instead. This is for fun, not a quick profit.Well, now that is out of the way I decided to go ahead and get some of my USB Erupters solo mining and after reading a heap of threads asking how to do it, and most going no where I thought I would write up a basic 'guide' What you need for my guide: - cgminer http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/ I am using version 3.6.4
- I am using Windows 7 on this machine
- Bitcoin-QT with the blockchain up to date - I would recommend just letting Bitcoin-QT catchup instead of the torrent available
- Zadig Utility for Windows http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/zadig/
- Powered USB Hubs, or onboard USB ports that can pump out 500mA at 5VDC per port (2.5W) - leave at least 500mA of headroom with hub PSUs
Step 1 - Getting things readyMake sure Bitcoin-QT is caught up to the network - you will have a green tick on the bottom right of the GUI when it is. Download and run the Zadig Utility. Select your Erupters and install the 'WinUSB' driver. The Erupters should show up as CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller, if you don't see them click 'List All Devices' under the 'Options' menu). Download and extract cgminer onto your computer. Step 2 - Setting Bitcoin-QT as a serverCreate a new txt document and enter the following into it: daemon=1 server=1 gen=0 rpcuser=USERNAME rpcpassword=PASSWORD rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 rpcport=8332 Change the text USERNAME to your desired miner username and PASSWORD to your desired miner password. 'File' > 'Save As...' this file as 'Bitcoin.conf' with the file type 'All Files *.*' to the folder where Bitcoin-QT.exe executable file is: c:\users\user\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin Next make sure Bitcoin-QT is NOT running. Now browse in explorer to where Bitcoin-QT.exe is and hold the shift button on your keyboard and right click on an empty part of the window. Select 'Open Command Window here' from the drop down. This will open a CMD window already pointing to the Bitcoin folder. Type This turns your Bitcoin-QT into a mining server. Step 3 - cgminer setupBrowse to where you extracted cgminer previously and hold the shift button on your keyboard and right click on an empty part of the window. Select 'Open Command Window here' from the drop down. Now type in the following: cgminer.exe -o 127.0.0.1:8332 -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD -G And there you go! Now sit back, relax, go get a drink, go to college, get a job, meet a special person, live your life to its fullest and occasionally check how cgminer is going FWIW, use this same guide on any other Alt-Coin QT as well, something like TEKcoin, or PPC coin maybe?

Just out of wondering but wouldn't this work instead of going through all the file stuff? If not then would the way up top work? and then download cgminer or bfgminer and make a file called mine.bat open up mine.bat should look something like this. Thanks! This is being quoted so I can find it easily in my own history later. I'll be coming back to this in Feb.
