861  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: block eruptor mining on: February 11, 2014, 03:09:44 PM
They work together as a unit...at least with the competing software I see it queue up work for the collective of units...the units will submit their own individual shares, but together they will work collectively.  I've seen my Block Erupter Array (all 68 of them) lights all go off simultaneously a lot which leads me to believe that they will collectively find a share, but that they can also find individual shares per device as well.
862  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Got 1st rig. Need a bit of help on setup, cards and risers? on: February 11, 2014, 12:00:35 PM
I would go with 4 powered usb risers. I purchased 5 off of a guy from ebay for $20 each. Kind of high but they are well worth it. Easier to route cables and the mb sees the cards immediately. I would also go with an open case.  Richard sells really nice open cases.

How do you even contact this guy? Only per email?

I contacted him before buying one through openrigs.com he refused to make one for me because he claimed that he's backlogged.  It's Feb. so now things may be different.  I wouldn't have ordered one through openrigs if I would have known that they would take Forever to ship my unit.

Regrettably, I cannot accept any new orders at this time.

The recent flood of orders has greatly exceeded my manufacturing capacity.

I will resume taking orders as soon as my backlog is reduced to an acceptable level (2-3 weeks).  A small re-design of the “mining tray” product is now under way to reduce manufacturing time (and therefore cost to you).  Along with some capital investments and streamlining of production, I’m confident that I will be able to meet demand in the very near future.

I am grateful for the overwhelming, enthusiastic response to my products and I look forward to fulfilling all my customer’s requests just as soon as the production schedule permits.

Location ?

his website says ohio.  I bought from openrigs.com thinking it was the best option but the truth is that I'm waiting waiting waiting....it looks better built then these frames but if I ever do anymore GPU rigs (doubt it) then I may pick one up stateside.
864  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 1THS,1000W, Bitcoin miner coming. on: February 11, 2014, 11:32:15 AM
6.25 BTC = 1TH in Two weeks on Bitmain's new pricing, include another 500 dollars for PSUs and you're all set!  that does equate to about 6800-7000 Watts continuous, so bear this in mind.  Thanks for Catching That Xer0

383 Watts being pulled from a standard S1 (170 GH), 480 W on an overclocked version - That equals 2252 Watts consumed for a standard Setup and 2376 Watts if oveclocked...yea I just re-read what I wrote D'oh!  (I was probably thinking out loud about MY requirements)

smh I get where the employees are coming from with trying to find affordable housing.  This is similar to the BART strikes that happened last year.

What do you tell the poor folks?  Leave?  That's not cool at all.

I extremely dislike reddit and its community.

Too Bad, I love Reddit and it's community, Take for instance this gem:

Black Arrow...are you for real?Huh have you seen their main thread...try giving reccomendations that have a concrete release timeline or existing hardware.  Although he's right - 100 GH is no longer recoupable unless you're paying like 600 dollars for it.
869  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Soon only sharks will mine ... on: February 10, 2014, 02:21:47 AM

The only good way to start mining is invest 10.000$ - 15.000$ minimum.

The amount you invest should not matter.  If investing $2000 is not a good investment, how is investing $10,000 make that investment any better?
The risk is the same, regardless how much you invest.

IN your eyes, with the exception of just buying BTC, what is a good investment otherwise?  I could have sworn that I read somewhere that the typical ROI is considered good if it can exceed 20% per annum.
870  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why BTC price drop under $800 ? on: February 10, 2014, 02:12:42 AM
Russia like China DID NOT ban BTCitcoin.  Times like this I wish a saw a D'oh!  emoticon here.
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switching scrypt+ASIC Pool] multipool.us on: February 09, 2014, 12:34:05 PM
Avg earnings from BTC daily had been at like .38....with two days of multiminer i've pulled the equivalent of .06-.07.

My culprit I see is that they have my power on stupid stuff like BTC mining and also on PPC mining despite the fact that I joined this pool to NOT do that!  I wish there was a way to be excluded from BTC, there are a ton of other pools that will mine btc...why on earth would they allow that?!  So as it stands there are still ZERO good Sha256 multi-pools.

I want a pool that lets me mine the following stuff by profitability:  BET, TRC, BCX, ZET,  and XJO.

After banning blockchain app from the store, I will bann all Apple products for ever. Sad though, I was happy with Apple since my first iPhone 3s.
Well, Apple made his choice and so did I - NEVER AGAIN ANY APPLE PRODUCT. POINT!

How do you think guys?

sell me your ipad - I'll pay .125 BTC for it  Smiley

874  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: AntMiner on: February 04, 2014, 12:18:05 PM
Is the AntMiner a plug and play unit, or do you need PSUs and fans?

If so, what do you recommend?  I've heard the gentle typhoon fans are pretty good.

There 2 products of AntMiner.

1. AntMiner U1 => USB. U need a PC to perform mining.
2. AntMiner S1 => Yes it's plug and play. Need PSU min. 360W with at lest 02 PCI-E (easiest way) and an extra FAN for cooling.

Yea right on the PSU

Here's my story, (running 9.5 right now)  I've had success with Corsair CX750s no problems, I totally had issues with an off brand Coolmax 750W psu and had similar issues with a 680W PSU - They turnon, pretend to power up, then at the time of mining they shutoff, likely because an overcurrent switch was triggered.  The one unit that is broken is making all my various psu's overcurrent out as seen with a 1000W PSU and a 1500W PSU.  But otherwise, yes, they are fairly plugNplay ready.  Plug it into ethernet, ip 192.168.1.99 or if you have a custom setup, then use a laptop and an ethernet cable and manually change your gateway to match the 192.168.1.1 then, change your username/password, then either choose to add a wireless network and set it to dchp (give it a hostname so its easily identified by your router [total pita if you didnt do this and you need to manage more than 3 of them on a big network], go to cgminer config and set your miner worker credentials...??.??.??...... profit!)

Totally irrelevant for bitcoin mining.

I'll take your word for it on this one.
876  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would happen if half or many many users lost their wallets? on: February 04, 2014, 12:03:53 PM
Its called Satoshis - the bitcoin becomes something like 42 coin where one coin is valued at like 288 btc.  We would transact in Meu bitcoin .0001s of it instead of .01s or .001s of it.  Like others said, they wouldn't be spendable but the other spendable coins are now that much more rare - Someone smart, someone like blockchain.info, should build a new type so metric that estimates the number of Dead/unspendable coins as a function of the remaining coins in circulation and as a function of the remaining coins to be mined.
877  Other / Off-topic / Re: 11 year old attempts suicide after bullying over my little pony :-( on: February 04, 2014, 11:59:32 AM
so...what do we say about the other 11 year old bronies who DIDNT attempt suicide.  Do we nudge them towards the whole, you make choices and they are yours to make wholeheartedly, but you do realize it will come at a price?  The same goes to the pack-kids who sat there and did nothing because they wanted to fit in or the bully kid who has his/her own problems to deal with outside of school or at home who feels pressured to escape by emulating what happens to them but on someone else weaker (I don't condone what happened there...but its sort of a mixed bag of thoughts depending on your POV)  I personally think that the kid must understand that the choices he made had those consequences, just like my choices to eat pizza, cheese and other junk food made me live through the consequences of being bullied about my weight as a kid.

I think the comment on gawker about how a woman related to this story put a major spin on it to her own benefit really drives home that this whole "bullying" thing benefits therapists, psychologists, writers, television and documentary program directors for new material which can be Sold for...money. Heck...Gawker is benefitting, they are getting advertising revenue from the increase in pageviews for this content.  So is call to awareness really just another cheap ploy that in no way benefits the bullies or bullied?   I don't know about you...but my favorite part of "Chistmas Story"  is Ralphie beating up Scutz Farkus.

Pwned!

I've started my own social experiment - If you think that this person intends to take the money and run...then give him negative feedback.  He's make his intentions clear...make your intentions clear with him.
879  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: PC hacked, QT robbed, MtGox account hacked on the same time- how? on: February 04, 2014, 11:38:13 AM
I remembered hearing a really great presentation where the person, I forgot his name but he was very knowledgeable about IT security said that 2fa is useless if you have an infected PC - Man in the Middle attack will login with your 2fa and initiate a withdrawal in the same execution timeframe with the same 2fa key - I think that laymans explanation of what he had stated.  It was basically that, if you're using a malware device on either end, the MITM attack would exploit your key like an elaborate phishing attempt of sorts.

Your QT was emptied because of of the new password request.  which was obviously a spoof - it could have been tied to the other mitm attack that caused the mt gox withdrawals - if someone else has the correct or a better explanation, I am all ears.
880  Other / Meta / Re: BITCOIN FORUM PROBLEMS -- PLEASE HELP on: February 04, 2014, 11:30:36 AM
Why the hell can't I write PMs or use the search?

When I write a PM I get the error "The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago. Please try again later."
Of course, the error is BS, as I didn't send any PMs at all.

I'm really frustrated as I need to reach a Bitcoin Forum member urgently, how can I fix this?

By the way this is really user-unfriendly, if I'm blocked from sending PMs then please at least tell me so BEFORE I type my message...!!!

5 minutes - its like you're trying to bulk pm people or bulk post...It goes away after you leave the newbie label.  Just refrain from pressing the enter key, I saw that it tripped up when I pressed enter after typing something in the search window, for that matter, use google to search for stuff in this thread, its much more effective.
