You can't make this up.

Yes you can.

@TEKA,

Can you please make one post answering the 2 ongoing (& out of control) questions in this thread:
1: Is the ANON function working at the moment?
2: Was there ever a peer review of parts of the code?

regards,

1: It's in there but it's currently worked on so the node is down.

2: Basically this:

1. The developer asked a forum member who seemed knowledgeable in Programming to look at it and verify that it worked and was real.  That forum member stated that he was not he did not have the proper knowledge to analyze coin, and the community asked Battbot to do it since he was a developer.  Nothing more

Been here since day 1.
Mined from day 1 after it was announced on altcoincalendar.  Then it was us and not the developer who pushed to get this on the exchange.  he never once asked us to do it, nor even talked about it at the time because he was just trying to produce.

Basicly he just excuses himself on the previous page. He wrote something like " i just received anon transaction, sorry for misleading".

Are you saying that he confirmed the transactions were anon, but he didn't review the code?
1383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update - The first POS ANON on: May 29, 2014, 08:29:29 PM
Can anyone answer this question;

Why would a programmer share his "cutting edge" work with his "competitor" before its even released?

They wouldn't.  Next question.

Ok. So than battbot (cinni) didnt saw the code?

How would I know?

Hehe. Two options;

1. Xc dev shared his "cutting" edge code with competitor (which you say they wouldnt)
2. Battbot / cinni spread lies.

EDIT: why delete your previous post?

After thinking about it i assumed you were asking everyone the question.  I'm nobody, the same as you.  Let me rephrase, they shouldn't share the code, not wouldn't.  I don't know the answers.

Honest question, just trying to educate myself at the moment.
Does xc have a proof of concept for anonymity?
Can you actually send coins right now anonymously?

yes there is a proof of concept u should start reading this :
http://www.reddit.com/r/XCofficialreddit/comments/26p1z1/some_of_the_tech_going_into_xc_for_the_techsavvy/

So at the moment I can send  coins anonymously with XC?

No you cannot send coins anonymously. This functionality was completely removed from the current release.
The mixer was not working properly and apparently the dev was not able to fix it till now.

Are you saying it's now fixed and we are awaiting a new release?
1386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update - The first POS ANON on: May 29, 2014, 07:34:31 PM
Actually most people are wanting to look at the source to evaluate whether or not this is worth investing in.

There have been many scams in altcoins.  So auditing code, is pretty essential, imo.

The fundamentals of distributed cryptocurrency, and trustless actors (including the original devs), is dependent on open source.  Otherwise you are basically left with a centralized coin, where you need to trust the dev.

Ultimately, nothing wrong with that.. but it is what it is.

I see no problem with it being centralized while it's in development and gaining popularity. I'm sure the developer is fully aware that it won't be fully adopted by the crypto community until the code is revealed.  But, we are a long way from that.  Until then, I say keep it closed.
1387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update - The first POS ANON on: May 29, 2014, 07:16:53 PM
I don't think the code should be revealed until XC reaches critical mass.
1388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CHA] Chancecoin, a coin for betting in a decentralized casino on: May 29, 2014, 06:40:10 PM
Why are the developers nonexistent here? It's like a ghost town.
1389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] >> Mandatory Update to new Wallet - The first POS ANON on: May 29, 2014, 06:36:45 PM
No offense, but I'm not sold on that logo either. I like what you did with the XC though.  Maybe you can work that in to a better looking logo?
1390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] >> Mandatory Update to new Wallet - The first POS ANON on: May 29, 2014, 06:28:13 PM
A coin that has to gain views by spamming the URL in #dogecoin?

Worthless coin will forever be worthless.

Yes, doge is a worthless coin that will only go down and down and down to LTC market.

I thought we weren't bashing other coins in the thread? Lips sealed
1391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] >> Mandatory Update to new Wallet - The first POS ANON on: May 29, 2014, 06:17:30 PM

I inspired from BTC...

Brilliant logo!!!!!!!!!  I like the idea of some metallic to it, give it that coin bling but not overdone

I'm not sure about the 11 in the logo.  Maybe change the color?  Blue is so common.

Is that the number 11 for X11?
1392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] >> Mandatory Update to new Wallet - The first POS X11 anonymous wallet on: May 29, 2014, 04:19:06 PM

Any background about the developer of XC?
Yes! http://seclists.org/interesting-people/2002/Feb/107 (more to come)

So a couple of things.. #1 - that twitter account is fake, my account is the matrix_guru one... also web site was take down as soon as my identity was revealed for reasons I cannot discuss.

#2 - YES that is me in the article above, back in 1998 I designed and deployed a large wireless ISP.  By 2003 it had expanded to cover a large part of eastern Massachusetts.  As it grew more features were added, like VoIP, QOS, and VLAN support.  However market conditions changed with lower cost solutions available from the competition(Verizon deployed DSL in my community due to the threat)... The product was then upgraded to support a marine environment, which was deployed in Cape Cod.   This network still runs to do this day, serving 11 Ferries and 50k to 150k (depends on season) per day.

You don't even have to explain.  99% of developers are anonymous.  The only thing you need to do is deliver on expectations.
1393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] >> Mandatory Update to new Wallet - The first POS X11 anonymous wallet on: May 29, 2014, 01:25:37 PM
- How long has the coin been in development?

Is the start of the bitcointalk any indication of it's age? That would be very young, unless there's been ongoing development in the past. But there are no such hints in the github repository.

- When if is going to be code responsible for anonymising transaction released?

Currently the repository contains no traces of any code responsible for such features.

I've heard vague claims that the XNodes features are ought to be implemented in 3 weeks of time. That's a bold claim considering there's not even a binary release of a wallet containing such functionality.

There's not even an ongoing or planned testing phase announced by the developer or community. That's pretty crucial because lots of money is at stake. Do people really want to risk their assets in the near future? What if the implementation does not reach expectations? What if the implementation is flawed or exploitable? What if the implementation is not working? What happens when it's realesed (as claimed in 3 weeks) into the wild, to a 10$ million market. There's a reason why the likes of Zerocoin take months and are still not ready. 3 weeks is not even enough to write a moderately complex iPhone app.
Who is appointed to test and audit the code? Who is appointed to verify it?

Ifs can be said about all coins, including BTC.  Yes, there are risks.  Who says the dev has only been working on this for 3 weeks?

You are correct, but people put faith in currencies like BTC because they are established, well known and more importantly have been around for a long time. Had the developer been working on the coin longer than 3 weeks this would have reasurred me and many others that thing is legit. There's no indication of it though in the repository, though. I'd like to be proven wrong.

What I am worried is that as of today the coin is realistically speaking no different than the other PoS coins we've had in the recent months. Yes, planned functionality sets it apart, but it's just planned functionality without a concrete backing.

If nothing else, we actually know who the developer is.  He owns his own company and is putting his reputation at risk.  I think this alone sets it apart.

I would be glad if you share your ideas...

In my opinion it's missing color and I don't the the text is needed

Also, it reminds me too much of 9/11 and the twin towers.  Not kidding.

I can see on the block chain an issue with nodes on a lower height, I will be releasing an updated wallet with checkpoints to resolve this issue

but please use the follow when running  - this force you to sync on the primary chain

x11coin-qt.exe -addnode=162.243.109.24 -connect=162.243.109.24

Please explain what this means like I'm a 5 year old?  what do i do with this information? x11coin-qt.exe -addnode=162.243.109.24 -connect=162.243.109.24
1400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: May 28, 2014, 08:13:07 PM
i dont mean to burst everyones bubble, but i really dont like misunderstandings.
The ones here that are doing the marketing, please give me an honest answer to this:

What are you marketing ?
What are you marketing it as?

Nem is nothing but an awesome idea so far, at a pre-alpha stage.
How are you marketing something that has no features so far, no code published, no client and no launch?

i'm honestly curious to hear what people are saying to others in regard to a product that has not launched yet,
this is not a trolling attempt, so please lets all have a serious discussion.

I am curious also.

Before a product is a community. Before a community is an idea. There is a plenty of thing to talk if someone is willing to Cheesy

Too much talking going on here...blablabla....blablabla
Shall I tell you why I think this coin is gonna fail just like Nxt?
It is too complicated and too technical for normal people to understand what you guys are talking about.

Why is it too complicated and too technical ? we don't even have an alpha yet.

Just as I said....too many tech savvy people around here. Most of the times I really have no idea what you're talking about. Ok ask someone who is not in crypto to try and understand a few pages in this thread. I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't understand.

does everyone understand how the internet works? tcp/ip? telecommunications? torrents? actually do you know how these things work? i didnt think so...

good counter-example,
it should stop evil trolls' avalanche Smiley

You just don't get it do you.
You are overlaoding people with too much difficulty.
Compare it with the other threads.
I'm not trolling here but as someone with zero knowledge programming skills I'm trying to understand this coin. It won't work if you keep on lecturing people about all the ins and outs.
Just my 2 cents.
Nxt was for example inaccesable for normal people because you had to dig very deep to be able to install the wallet, but it's not limited to the wallet only.

Actually, clearly you're the one who doesn't get it.

This coin is in development, sophisticated conversations are going to occur. Thats just how it works.

I get your point, you want a coin thats accessible -- we all do, especially if we want NEM to be a success, it has to be foolproof, far moreso than NXT, and even moreso than Bitcoin.

Right now though, development is still in progress, so expect some over the head discussions to occur; its certainly over mine on many occasions, even though i consider myself a very tech-savvy individual.

Anywhoo, on the subject of accessibility, i thought of something today:

Using my banks online banking feature, i noticed there's alot of features that crypto's could benefit from. Is there any crypto client out there which allows users to set up regular payment arrangements? (Think of Direct Debits, a fixed sum over a set period)

I really don't recall any crypto having any such sophisticated features in their client, perhaps this is something NEM could do? Just an idea. I'd seriously suggest that if anyone does any online banking with their FIAT, perhaps browse said sites to get any further inspiration to go towards NEM - it's worth throwing the idea's out at least.

Is NEM going to have anonymous transactions?

I would sincerely hope so. This is by far probably Crypto's biggest appeal; Darkcoins success speaks volumes for this.

Unfortunately, I think that if NEM doesn't have anonymous transactions, it will just be another coin.  Sorry, that's just the way I feel.
