601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Trader Coin - Scrypt - 10 Mil - Launch 8/24/14 19:00 GMT - Decentralized on: August 22, 2014, 04:30:07 PM
I don't understand this project.  There are many coins out there that work, have exchanges to trade on and have devs that abandoned them.  That's basically what you are making, right?  Huh

This is an experiment on how the community will except a true decentralized coin. I am being up front I am not paying bounties I did not do a huge premine hopefully it will cover the initial cost for the coin. Most crypto enthusiasts claim they want a decentralized currency but yet they go crazy if they do not have a developer holding their hand making the coin better. All we have done in most of these coins is replace central bankers with coin developers. So I want to see how will this be accepted when I am being straight forward with the community that it is up to them to make the coin what they want. Make this coin the ultimate decentralized coin.

This coin will succeed because of the community or fail because of the community. Not because of the developer. No one can claim coin is dead because the developer is gone because this coin doesn't revolve around a developer.

It's not that we want developers holding our hand, it's that we need a reason to hold the coin or else we might as well hold BTC.  The developer gives a reason to hold the alt-coin because of innovative implementation that other coins don't have.  Of course we want decentralization once the development of a coin is finished.

Here's an example.  Revocoin was a scam coin that was abandoned by the developer.  It has a working blockchain, a wallet and it still trades on an exchange (Bittrex).  If you want a decentralized coin then just trade RVC or a hundred others just like it.

Why take a pre-mine at all?  If it's such an interesting project to you then just do it for nothing.

I agree that it's important to add some value to a coin with more than just words. In this case the value I see is in the coin dev. This is not a guy who would abandon his own project and he is well known and respected in cryptoland. It would be even better if he would add some unique feature to the coin, and I think he probably would if he was a programmer, but tom seems open to change proposed by the community, which is a really good thing.

Are you not understanding what this project is about?  He will intentionally abandon the project as an experiment.  There are already hundreds of coins that are decentralized in the exact way the OP describes.  All he's doing is using his "good name" to make another shit coin with a pre-mine, no matter how small it is.

yes, though the dev have disappeared but i think this post make me happy Grin

I communicate with NiccoloMac (Max) through email so he hasn't disappeared.  I'm not totally naive to not understand that there are some good reasons for people to be pessimistic about the project.  Running out of patience is understandable, so I wouldn't ever try to convince anyone to be patient and stick around. Like I said, I have my own reasons.

Just stick with us guys. Shouldn't be too long now.

I'll leave the convincing part up to Alex.  Grin

If anyone is yet worried about 2 days with no news from dev and he want to dump his coins - let me know so I can set my buy bids :-)

Kind regards.

Another Kool-aid drinker.  Wait a couple of weeks.  You'll puke it out.

Please ... :-) I already tripled my investment into BlackToken so I am very calm :-)
No one knows what will happen to the value in next few weeks :-)

Whatever will happen - trading BlackTokens was till now great fun and profits :-)

I'm not talking about your trading ability. I made 1000% in NRS so why don't you go buy that gem of a project?  Exactly!

I don't get why so many coins were dumped during last hours ....

I placed my bid @3600 and it is gone ...

Lower bids (down to @3100) were gone too.

Many sells, less buys ...

Where is the volume from last Friday? Will we see anything like what we saw during last Friday again?

This is the longest the dev has gone without posting since launch. He does have a reputation for abandoning coins.  I'm glad I only bought 1 btc worth.  I'm just about done with buying any alt-coins with the exception of BitsharesX and XCurrency.

It has been two days time to bail! lol Grin

Stop being such a shill.  Just about all alt-coins are failing, even the ones that seemed like legit projects.  Just look at Cloak.  I'm not saying to bail yet just to be cautious.  This dev has already bailed on 2 other projects so for you to act like it's not even an issue that he hasn't posted that much lately is completely asinine on your part.

Look at the legit projects such as Bitshares or XC.  The devs baby the threads and if they can't there are others on the team that stay all over it. Dan Larimer and Dan Metcalf are way busier than this dev and they find time to post in the threads constantly.  I guess your name has to be Dan or you have no shot at being a good developer.

I was just being facetious, I do not take alts very seriously and only buy what I expect to lose. I do appreciate being called a shill only because its such a cool word and not used often enough. In regards to being asinine I have been called worse things in my life, but I am far from being a fool. I hope this coin works out for you and if not I am deeply sorry for your loss. Smiley

Yes, I only buy what I expect to lose too and my loses don't matter to me.  I care more about flushing the scammers out of crypto and if that means I have to troll every thread I believe is a scam then I will.  This one isn't a scam........................................................................... ...........yet.

You should learn to earn coins during those dumps :-)

Yesterday I earned 200 coins just by doing one sell and one buy :-)

I don't like pump and dumps as I prefer more stable markets but in a same time it is a possibility to  multiple your coins :-)

And mightn't you have any suggestions about the best way to go about learning to do that?

Read some books on technical analysis to understand the concepts. Most of the things you learn apply very loosely to crypto markets though because of how much manipulation goes on in altcoins (also due to the very low volumes). Most TA tools are more used for stocks and securities with high volumes, where markets are not as volatile.

I wouldn't waste your time learning TA if you are only trading crypto.  It doesn't apply at all to 99% of alt-coins and you don't need to know TA if you want to be a market maker in a coin by playing the bid/ask spread. One can argue that most TA indicators are horse shit and don't apply to any markets.  IMO, TA is probably most useful in high volume non cash flow products like fiat currencies and commodities futures.  I'm not a big fan for using TA exclusively for stocks, but we don't have to get into that in this thread.

TA is pointless on alts.  Prices are driven almost entirely by external forces, and even if they weren't, there's not nearly enough data for meaningful TA.  Maybe on BTC, barely, but not on any alt.

I said 99% because you can argue for LTC/BTC and maybe 1 or 2 others. I do agree with you that it's barely applicable to any crypto.

tumbleweeds as the crowd wait eagerly for the developer.

Even if the developer shows up I won't support this coin.  I'm sure the dev knows how nervous the community is about scams these days, so he knows that if he doesn't post in the thread for a few days it will look like scam and people will sell the coin.  He can use this inside information to buy cheap coins for himself which is basically another way to scam people.  It's either that or he's not coming back.  Either way, he's already shown to be untrustworthy and I won't support this coin no matter what.

one of the reasons is because we are not good at marketing lol,

Current CRD price is way to undervalued and we are expecting the regular minimum price per CRD to be ~0.001 BTC minimum.

If P then Q.  Expect the price to go nowhere unless you learn marketing or get somebody to do it for you.

Alex or Max,

Can you fill us in on anything that was discussed last night?

One problem with not having a hot fix is that we need to get Bittrex an updated wallet so we can have a free market.  I think this is very important.  Is there any kind of ETA?

The dev will be back in 2 days. According to Max, the fixes shouldn't take too long to implement, once there are no more inhibiting factors holding the development process back.

Ok, so we are looking at a potential fix within a few days and this includes Dynamic Interest?

Updates?

I know it's not needed because we all know who Dan is and we know he is legit but this site is cool http://cryptoasian.com/coin-list/ it gives a rating of developers identity called POD proof of developer, we should get XC up on it, just a thought.

Disagree.  They would not have a rating high enough for Dan.  In other words, PoD's highest score would only devalue Dan's reputation.

Unless they created a new high score just for Dan.  They can call it PoD's highest rating of "atcsecure."  Then I would be okay with it.  And it's basically already true -- Dan is the highest standard by which all other dev's can be measured.

 Wink

Another title for it would be Proof of Ability or PoA.

This is just funny. Pathetic, like before -only more so- but funny.

Only stooges like them will follow these idiots.
