141  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [COMMONWEALTH GAMES] - BIRMINGHAM 2022 on: August 11, 2022, 08:26:58 AM
Maybe it is time to admit that Indians are not made for athletics. May have something to do with the genes.
You can't be farther from the truth.
India has a population of 1.2B, with enough talent. But they lack infrastructure, guidance, and in a few words: money.

There's a much higher chance for someone living in a first world country to be able to dedicate his whole life to a sport without worrying about his livelihood, compared to someone from a developing/poor country(like India).

My cousin(who won Silver in this CWG), is a farmer  Smiley They have almost nil familial wealth, could only practice for like 2 years and still won a Silver  Wink

144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The US government is targeting mixers. Are BTC mixers next? on: August 09, 2022, 09:32:05 AM
AFAIK, governements have been going after mixers for quite a while now... I'm pretty sure that IF they find a mixer operating from a country where the government doesn't quite like crypto, they'll be closed.

I don't think this is anything new. Governements don't want privacy, they want taxes, and you can't tax things they cannot find/trace... Sure, it's nice that the couple percent of illicit transactions cannot be mixed either, but i somewhat doubt this is their primary objective...

Possible, they could be setting up grounds to entangle crypto within their regulations. They will at least try, that's for sure. This is why BTC and PoW will never die  Wink

What are the chances of coinjoin and chipmixer getting in their scope? No service can judge a user and their intention for using their mixer.

I don't know but I have said it repeatedly. I don't see much of a future in a business model that consists of obfuscating the origin of funds, when in the world the trend is the opposite. Everything is becoming more and more KYC, even people pay for everything with their mobile, deblocking it with the face ID, so that Apple or whatever company it is, apart from many other data, knows the face of that person.

I still love my privacy tho. I don't want any of my personal information to get leaked(sometimes intentionally by rogue employees) and get into the hands of bad actors. Nor would I like some entity(read apple, facebook, google) to have ay kind of influence over me.
Obfuscation of personal funds is a part of maintaining that privacy. To protect info about my spending mostly.

Monero and BTC LN are better suited for such task than mixers imo. Regardless of what's more efficient, it's still an attack on our privacy.

Quote
the reality is adding more "privacy" features to crypto does not make regulators give up and walk away, it makes them step up and move closer to adding more rules of use for crypto
They can certainly try. There's an active bounty of a million dollar by IRS on monero  Grin And we got BTC LN too. imo, BTC LN should suffice for privacy needs for a common man like me.

Quote
exchanges do not have to witness an actual crime first, and link that to a user that then mixes to then suspect it as laundering.
No worries, I will do a P2P trade.

Yes, there's a MS Excel tournament going and even streaming on ESPN lmao

Would you guys watch it? I definitely will. Gonna support that Asian guy and may even place a bet for fun(if there happens to be a market lol).
146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The US government is targeting mixers. Are BTC mixers next? on: August 09, 2022, 07:11:53 AM
Tornado cash(ETH mixer) has already been forced to shut down (giving a 404 https://tornado.cash )

Going by Secretary Blinken's tweet, they seem to be on a hunt and anyone could be next.

Anyhow, we will always have BTC LN for enhanced privacy if you are worried due to this recent news Wink
147  Economy / Economics / Re: Recression is here to stay on: August 08, 2022, 11:58:50 PM
Yes recrsssion is here to stay
Thts good.the prices will drop down so inflation dont hurt PEOPLE so much.
Recression is new normal

You again   Roll Eyes
You simply fail to understand the complexity of current stagflation. Even though we are going through a period of inflation, but the demand isn't going down. It's a weird recession(if it can be called one).

Anyhow, if it stays(as you wish), even then it won't have that dampening effect on the price. Why? Because jobs are here to stay for a while due to baby boomer exodus. They are retiring, which in turn is creating job openings and producing a deflationary effect. People will continue to earn and spend.

There's also the factor of money printing by feds which plays a more crucial part here. What we are seeing right now is an after effect of their money printing, things are going back to normal, and economy will finally show the damage all the money printing has done. But I am guessing when that happens, Feds will just start pumping again lol

So yea, we aren't really in a recession(since people still got jobs). Weird times.

148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could bitcoin mining solve climate change? on: August 08, 2022, 11:51:19 PM
Troy Cross is a philosopher that recently joined the twitter cryptocurrency community and know little about bitcoin, though, he claims to know about bitcoin mining but he skipped the first question about the conception of bitcoin mining by saying; they are different meaning to conception and he attended a graduate school where the meaning of conception was the principal topic for a course. The second question he attempted was about the energy consumption of bitcoin he noted that dryers in the USA consume more energy than bitcoin and so on. But, one thing, he got wrong was the bitcoin market capitalization, I don't know when this podcast was recorded, he said the market cap is below a trillion but, its now a trillion dollar as of today. The podcast is long, and the philosopher uses philosophy to answer questions regarding bitcoin something that doesn't interest me.

Probably trying to build a crypto audience and get some sponsors since a Philosophy degree pays shit.

As for the development of renewable energy, Bitcoin mining is one of many thousand use cases for energy. And if you rank them all according to their capital then Bitcoin mining won't even be in top 1000. Emphasis on mining, as his argument involves around it and that's the only part where bitcoin required a substantial energy to function.

Like I have already said, Bitcoin mining is just another use case. Widespread use of renewable and passive energy requires adoption from an entire sector to be of any effect(economically and environmentally).

https://www.unep.org/interactive/six-sector-solution-climate-change/

Another thing, before we start blaming how people use their electricity(like for mining bitcoins), maybe we should focus on how that electricity is produced  Wink

Maybe this philosopher needs to attend middle school again lol
149  Economy / Gambling / Re: DUELBITS ASK FOR KYC WHEN YOU WANT TO WITHDRAW YOUR EARNED PROFITS on: August 08, 2022, 11:22:42 PM
DO NOT CREATE AN ACCOUNT ON DUELBITS IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE ASKED FOR KYC AT THE TIME YOU WANT TO WITHDRAW

THEY LET YOU CREATE ACCOUNT... DEPOSIT... BET... NO SIGN OF KYC ANYWHERE... UNTIL YOU WANT TO WITHDRAW YOUR FUNDS

You could say the same for almost every book?  KYC has become a mandate for any sportsbook now. Either that or you account will be severely limited when it comes to maxbet limit.

You should have looked for a site which won't ask for "KYC" and maybe then you wouldn't be crying now. Check out nitrogensports. AFAIK, if they allow your country then they won't ask for KYC.
Don't take my word on it, do your own research too.

Stop being an idiot. Peace.
150  Economy / Reputation / Re: 6840 euros missing because of a mistake from Stake.com on: August 08, 2022, 10:14:14 AM
I went though OP's post again. A delay of 3~5 seconds would be sufficient to reject a winning bet in this case. It's not possible to observe a delay of this magnitude through operator's response to live chat. And it also depends on the game provider.
It could be a good debate. But without any supporting evidences it's just word and mouth between you, me and others. Without any supporting document it's impossible to prove.
Yes, that's what OP is hinting at.

I see a message saying "your bet has been rejected"

Seems like an act of dishonest game provider since they know the result beforehand(before you i.e.)
What am I missing? The bet was rejected before the result. So I do not see a problem. It worth discussing if the bet was rejected after the ball stopped in the number 32.

In live roulette there could be an argument that they delay the streaming and change the result but it will be unlikely and hardly possibly in the short period of time. When you chat with them on the table you will understand it's almost instant.

OP did mention the game provider in his post (Hippodrome Live roulette). Maybe someone can test this theory in a conclusive manner.

154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador claim bitcoin attracts tourists right or wrong? on: August 08, 2022, 07:23:13 AM
The recent rise in tourism was due to relaxation in covid regulations and has nothing to do with bitcoin. Correlation isn't causation.

If you take a dump when the sun rises, are you going to credit your colon for the movement of celestial bodies in the solar system? This take about bitcoin propelling tourism is equally stupid.

There's one thing happening for certain tho: Money laundering. Buy BTC with your illicit funds, and run a fake hotel business in El Salvador to convert your BTC into clean USD at reduced tax   Smiley

155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Real most rewarding Crypto Casino? on: August 08, 2022, 07:11:32 AM
RTP doesn't matter that much and it's irrelevant for a single player. You should take that out of your equation.

If it's above 94% then it's good. 94 or 98 won't make any difference to you. You won't experience a return equal to advertised RTP unless you play it a million times.
And RTP is deceiving in a few slot games. For example, if a game has progressive jackpot then its true RTP will be waaaay less than advertised RTP.

You should focus on volatility. Play low risk slots  Smiley
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eth could take over BTC or not on: August 08, 2022, 06:53:00 AM
Maybe, anything's possible.
In the current market the value of all coins is speculative. Cryptocurrency and bitcoin is yet to reach a point where its usefulness will be ubiquitous. And when that happens, technology will surpass speculation(opposite of the current valuation). Only in that future, ETH can become more valuable than bitcoin. Emphasis on "may", because ETH is on a very dark path of centralization and Vitalik treats ETH as his creation with full control over it.

Hopefully BTC L2 network will shine in that future  Smiley

A truly decentralized payment network independent from banks and government which is capable of handling millions of transactions at any moment will win.
Again, it may or may not be BTC itself or ETH or some other genius creation that will solve the blockchain trilemma  Cheesy

I feel like the police officers definitely could have saved him, but they would have been risking their lives and I'm not sure if they believed the man was actually drowning.  A shame...  I think they could have done more...
if it was a white man, then they would have called a cavalry of lifeguards

Are you just hating on the project? I'm not a supporter of Tron and probably not going to be but it still has use to some and it has its own chain etc.

So what do you think about BTC since you are saying that Tron is an ancient coin already?
Tron is truly a shitcoin.
Its founder is an actual criminal

Let's not forget their recent ponzi "algorithmic" stable coin, which is offering even more return than Terra USD

160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: VALORANT Betting on: August 07, 2022, 09:32:15 PM
I think it's too early to engage in VALORANT Betting because this game is not yet as popular as, let's say CS:GO or Dota 2. Also, in this game, there are no top lineups yet on which you can bet money. If, after all, someone wants to start doing esports betting, then it's better to pay attention to CS:GO. It's really possible to make money on this betting. I was making money at once, but then I realized I wanted to change sports and found the Wunderdog NBA Picks, where I look at forecasts for basketball matches. Thus I became much more likely that I would win and earn.
Yea, Valorant sucks for betting.

If someone plans to do it anyway, then set aside all logic and keep on wagering on underdogs. Given how many upsets this game faces, you are bound to make some profit. NFA
Just like how Sentinels with Shroud & Tenz lost to literally WHO  Huh in a qualifier lol

Personally, I prefer CSGO more than NBA or any other sports. More predictable and enjoyable to watch.
