It's actually a little bit more complex.  Right now it is exceedingly difficult for a death sentence to be legal, but after the arrival of the Moshiach, which is hoped to be very soon now, things change.  A LOT!
...............  That's what he was referring to.

When will Moshiach bring this Amish paradise? is it like Judgement day?

Writing on a txt file and archiving it with password-protected rar before uploading it.
I suggest you do what I said, otherwise you risk losing access to your keys, something that might not be wise if you value your identity.
I take your point. But dw, I have encrypted the tar output with ae256 encryption and a very long + complex password that I won't forget  Cheesy

Verified.

Thanks!

That doesn't sound very secure. It's probably okay to stake an address, but I wouldn't recommend it to receive Bitcoin.
Both are backed up now on a secure cloud.
Does this mean you uploaded your private key to a cloud, in plain text? That's one of the worst solutions for both your security and privacy. Now the cloud's owner and the people who get access to those data by either the owner's permission or not, can impersonate you.

Why don't you just write it down on a piece of paper? Preferably one that's derived from your seed phrase, which can be easily written with minimum human errors.
Right, another dumb decision Cry
Writing on a txt file and archiving it with password-protected rar before uploading it.

I'm going to assume you searched on Google and clicked the first result [again] Cheesy You have to stop doing it Tongue
- Luckily, you no longer need those two addresses.

I still can't login with my password.
Export the private key and anything else you can find in there, and start using a real wallet from now on Smiley Electrum for instance.
Yup.

I have mailed this issue to blockchain.com support. Maybe they can figure out the problem on their side and fix it. I will post updates here(if they give any meaningful reply). Hopefully, no one else has to face this issue again.

I have recovered my og vanity address  Cheesy
You may want to print the private key this time Smiley

Or, to be thorough, you can sign a message from your old address to confirm the new one.
Yes, will verify my new address too with it.

I think one of these addresses is from an exchange or some sportsbook(according to wallet explorer it holds  65 BTC)
No idea about the other one, it isn't in my wallet either.

326  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.com issue on: July 02, 2022, 01:19:34 PM
I watched a few disassembly videos. It's a very easy process. Requires a precision screwdriver tho. Which I don't have rn. I just want to charge the battery externally and put it back.
Are you sure that's possible without blowing it up? The battery has a very small charging connector, and I don't think you can just connect it to a 4.0V power supply to charge it without battery monitoring.

I received my screwdriver a day early.
Charged the battery by connecting red wire to the positive terminal and black to the negative. Albeit, there was no indicator as to which side is positive and which is negative on the battery(as it's covered by plastic wrapping from top to bottom but I could see a tiny bit of terminals).
I watched a few yt videos, where they charge it externally and there was a common pattern of the positive terminal being on the left.
So I took my chances, and it worked  Cheesy

I was able to login by scanning the QR code.

Blockchain.com is boken.

Wait, what's the point of wasting effort and time to recover a wallet address that you know is empty?
When @edgycorner created this thread, he/she was worried about receiving signature payments [judging by what I'm seeing on the spreadsheet of that campaign, that's no longer an issue] on the address in question, but the remaining issue is the fact that @edgycorner imported his main address into that wallet while he/she "can't remember where he/she kept the private key" and if someone else gains access to edgycorner's account, he/she might not be able to recover it without a signed message from that specific address!
++

You have a friend that has spare monitor? or you can borrow, You can try it to use it just for the sake of recovering.  That is the 2nd option I think is to use sata reader and to read your hard drive on other computer. You will have a chance to check all of your drives on different computers. It would be much more easy to do since you just need to plug out your drives.
If I am unable to access the wallet on my repaired phone, then I might look into those drives for keys.
Ohh I see, I thought you have your wallet last access on your broken phone. Does it as for additional verification for security? Searching your data from your SATA drive now will be your best option. We just hope that your keys is in your drive or else it's a loss of effort.

There are a very cheap precision screwdriver out there, I can find one for just $3.15 usd in my marketplace or you try to borrow some. But yeah I agree just bring it to repair shop. I suggest you just bring your old phone now into a repair shop before using sata reader if you don't have it right now. Repairing it would not cost more than $10 since charging port is cheap and it's just a basic soldering that will happen.
I bought one for 3 dollars. I will get it soon.
Like BitMaxz's pointed out, I wouldn't have to solder any parts if I replace the charging board(and this is what every repair shop will probably do since it works+they can charge extra+more reasonable). From the videos, it's very much like replacing RAM. It's available for like 7 dollars online.
This way I won't have to worry about giving my phone to some stranger either  Cheesy
That's nice that it work according to your plan on doing it with precision screw driver. Oh, That's more easy on what I think the way to fix your charging port. I have mine repaired before and the technician soldered it and I saw him soldered it so I think that's the only way. Your method is much more efficient since you don't need to worry about stranger.

It's only 5`~6 dollars, worth a try.

I still can't login with my password. I have to authenticate from my app. That's the only way. What if my phone had a permanent damage  Huh

@edgycorner
Do you still have access to any of the "old" addresses that haven't been edited or are they also part of the blockchain.com wallet that currently has ongoing issues?

328  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA Bans the right to abortion on: July 02, 2022, 05:05:47 AM
Government hasn't gone nearly far enough by repealing Roe v. Wade. What they really need to do is formally call abortion murder, and try in court, and sentence everyone involved in abortion or attempted abortion to prison for a long time, or to execution.

Capital punishment is immoral, just like abortion.

Whether you approach the idea of Capital punishment morally or pragmatically or religiously, you will reach the same conclusion. Capital punishment is wrong.

Quote
To kill for murder is an immeasurably greater evil than the actual crime itself. Judicial murder is immeasurably more horrible than one committed by a robber. Someone killed by a robber, knifed at night in forest or somewhere, certainly keeps hoping for a rescue right up to the last second. There have been instances of people whose throats have been cut still hoping for rescue right up to the last second. There have been instances of people whose throats have been cut still hoping, or running away, or pleading for their lives. But all this final hope, which makes dying ten times easier is taken away by that certain; the sentence is pronounced and the whole agony resides in the fact that there’s no escape. There is no greater torture in the world than that. Fetch a soldier and stand him right in front of a cannon during a battle and fire at him, he’ll go on hoping; but read out a certain death sentence to that same soldier and he’ll go off his head or bust into tears. Who can say that human nature can bear such a thing like that without going mad? Why this disgusting pointless, unnecessary mockery? Perhaps there exists a man who has had his sentence read out to him and been allowed to suffer before being told: “Be off, you’ve been pardoned.” That man could tell you perhaps. Christ himself spoke of such agony and terror. No, a man should not be treated so!
329  Economy / Speculation / Re: Q2 Bitcoin Close -56% on: July 01, 2022, 11:23:41 PM
I would suggest any investor to buy high-quality solid stocks instead of a cryptocurrency.
Like coca-cola https://i.imgur.com/T0HrBPl.png
Things may get real messy, real quick. If it does happen then coca-cola won't be that exposed.
I can't say the same for bitcoin. It's very susceptible to macrochanges. It won't just stop at 14k or 10k, there will be no brakes this time

It will go down imo, but if you really want to invest somewhere then I would suggest high-quality stocks as mentioned above^
330  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin Reduce the Global Wealth and Income Inequalities in 2022? on: July 01, 2022, 10:21:43 PM
Bitcoin can do nothing to bridge this gap.
Bitcoin has become just another asset. Sure it made a few people rich, but they were already in better condition(they had an internet connection and a PC + literate enough) compared to someone who's illiterate and thus will never have an opportunity to improve his condition.

The answer to this question lies in the realm of politics(or sociology) not economics.

Wait, what's the point of wasting effort and time to recover a wallet address that you know is empty?

Yes, I know and I understand your preference why you are still doing this.  Because it also makes sense like knowing how to recover a wallet address on their platform, whether it is empty or not.  Because what if someone also experiences this issue and has a balance, especially if it's big, right?  So if you succeed, the others have an idea of how they will do it.  Like that, you also had another purpose, to study how to fix a broken hardware part of your phone.
I am pretty sure that the issue is on blockchain.com's side. This could act as a warning for other users too, and can even act as a guide for those who may face this problem in the future.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no fix for now. I should mail blckchain.com about this incident and post their reply(if I am fortunate enough to get one) here.

I guess it is a legacy address since your wallet is 8 years old (from blockchain.info) or you imported the address. So even if you are able to remember or recover your 12 word phrase that is associated with your blockchain."com" account, you won't have access to your old wallet address. If I recall correctly, they kept on warning users to move their funds from their old blockchain.info wallet to their newly generated blockchain.com wallet. Look for your private keys if you have backed them up. There is no other way to access your old wallet other than being able to login to your blockchain.com account through your phone. Just replace the battery, backup all important data, do a hard format, and send it to the repair center.
Yup, this seems to be the only viable way  Smiley

I wish it had wireless charging, then I would be able to ride public E-scooters downtown without worrying about battery lol
It's a cheap android(Samsung M51, which was gifted xd)

Samsung M51 or any M series does not support wireless charging, unlike the S and note series.

About the charging port, it seems you don't need to resolder them you can buy a whole charging board it's around $12 on Amazon or if you are looking for a cheaper one you can buy it on Aliexpress they are selling it for $3-$4. The shipping fee seems free if you are living in the US.

It is easy to replace after you disassemble the unit unlike replacing only the charging pin that needs BGA hot air and soldering iron to remove and resolder the charging pin.
Just make sure to be careful on the attached flex subboard to the mainboard.
Alright, just purchased this precision screwdriver for 3 dollars.
I will get it by Sunday.
This option will be cheaper for me. And I can charge the battery externally until I get the spare part.
I will get to learn something too. I have never fixed an electronic appliance(except for PC ofc) on my own. This will be a start.
Thanks!
335  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.com issue on: June 30, 2022, 11:18:26 PM
-snip- tried it on all browsers. Same thing, the button transitions into loading style then back to active with no message.
Try logging in using your email address instead of the wallet ID.
That way, blockchain(dot)com will immediately send a verification email in the next step (before the password) and there'll be an option to resend the email after a few seconds.
I tried that too, on both the app and laptop. It isn't authorizing. Security or pairing problem for sure.

I tried logging into blockchain app on my backup phone(which I have been using after my primary phone went dead). On it, I am taken to a recovery page after entering my password. Either I have to provide my 12-code security key or reset my wallet. It's a 8 year old wallet, I don't even remember where I kept my recovery code lol
I am booting my childhood PC(after I fix it), maybe it has the keys. Maybe it doesn't.
Is there any update on your childhood PC? If you have old notes you make sure to check them, It's one of the old way of storing security codes.
it has a VGA port. I can't connect it to my IPS monitor. I will either have to buy SATA drive reader for my laptop or something like VGA to HDMI. I can't afford either rn for a wallet with no balance lol

My other PC is without a GPU(because I sold it recently to cover other expenses and planned to purchase 4000 series later this year by saving up). And it has AMD CPU, so no output without GPU lol

So I got my old CPU with intel duo core that works without GPU, but it has VGA port. Got another CPU, with 5800x but no GPU lol
My life is definitely directed by Coen brothers.

Quote
Just be careful on doing that process, It might brick your board if failed to do it correctly. It would be more easy to let a technician repair the port, The technician would likely solder a new port into it and it will take less time. Just make sure you watch the technician in repairing it for your wallets security.
I watched a few disassembly videos. It's a very easy process. Requires a precision screwdriver tho. Which I don't have rn. I just want to charge the battery externally and put it back. But buying a screwdriver for a single-use, when it will still get repaired later on doesn't sound like a good decision(financially). So yea will drop it off at a good repair shop.

This all makes me sound like a cheapskate lol
Hard times.
336  Economy / Economics / Re: Indonesia's new digital nomad visa allows tax free living on: June 30, 2022, 10:51:21 PM
it will end up being a good deal for only "rich" digital nomads. Then again, why would anyone rich go to Indonesia?
Maybe I will be wrong, most probably not.

If you are a rich nomads then you could live a luxury life in Indonesia with cheaper cost compare to all other country in Europe. It is a good deal for most people because in general Indonesian salary is around $300 a month or even less for most citizen there so if you only earn around $1000-2000 a month then you could live luxury life in Indonesia but that's not enough to live in some country like Dubai

yea, $2000 will definitely not be sustainable in Dubai. It's utterly expensive for no good reason.

Indonesia does have beautiful islands. If they do make it happen, and keep a reasonable registration price. Then I will definitely look into it with serious intent.
337  Economy / Economics / Re: Uganda’s gold discovery: What it could mean for crypto !!! on: June 30, 2022, 10:43:38 PM
Gold will not become inflationary as a result of this discovery.
While there may be some uptick in demand for the metal as a result of this news, the overall impact is likely to be limited.
Bitcoin, on the other hand, could potentially replace gold as a store of value due to its scarcity and reliability. If it does happen, then it will be at least 2~3 decades later. I hope it becomes a reality.

The numbers from Uganda are probably exaggerated.
338  Economy / Economics / Re: Real M2 Money Stock (M2REAL) on: June 30, 2022, 10:28:42 PM

I don't know what OP is trying to prove to us by showing this chart? Is he trying to prove that the Federal Reserve isn't increasing the money supply enough? Grin The FED guys can come up with different ways to manipulate statistical data and calculation methods, but who cares.
What I'm trying to reach is whether the Fed's decisions will affect the nature of the charts or the way the data is presented to the public, or will they use the old charts that show the situation much worse.
As for the effect, the problems of the economy will not be solved by edit chart or how to calculate it, but it affects the psychology of consumers, but this is not what I am looking for.
Given how so much of the money can't be accounted for. Stats and analysis based on these stats aren't the way to make policies.
It will only lead to bad decisions.

Feds should stick to something empirical. I can't propose an alternate solution here. I don't know enough about economics. But I am sure a country with trillion-dollar GDP got some good economists.

M2 and CPI are just a distraction to console the general public.
339  Economy / Economics / Re: Real M2 Money Stock (M2REAL) on: June 30, 2022, 12:35:03 AM

Interesting to see a discontinued label on the M1 money supply.   Smiley

There are many sources who track real inflation before it was redefined 1970s to 1980s.

With M1 being discontinued it appears there is yet another redefinition of the statistic in 2021.

People tend not to care about topics like this until it directly affects them. By then its usually too late.
Feds stopped using it a long time ago, not 2020. It became redundant in the early 70s.

The market is already affecting everyone. But M2 is an obsolete indicator. This is why people don't care what the fed says about it  Wink

340  Economy / Economics / Re: Indonesia's new digital nomad visa allows tax free living on: June 29, 2022, 10:49:07 PM
Damn, but I am sure they will bring in indirect taxation(like visa will be very expensive, or you will have to incorporate some company, which will have its own annual fees). Just like UAE and many other tax havens.
it will end up being a good deal for only "rich" digital nomads. Then again, why would anyone rich go to Indonesia?
Maybe I will be wrong, most probably not.
