1421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Lightning Network - Thoughts? on: May 02, 2020, 01:00:42 PM
There is around 10% less Bitcoins in Lightning network as a year ago. That is very sad. Blockstream’s Liquid side chain on the other hand had huge growth in last few months.

After both the number of payment channels and the publicly visible capacity of the network peaked in April of last year, the values fell continuously for around half a year. Now a trend reversal is in sight. At the beginning of November, there were only around 811 bitcoins in the Lightning network, the number has now risen again to more than 950.

Capacity in public Lightning channels according to Bitcoin Visuals. The orange line represents the capacity in Bitcoin, the blue one in dollars.
1422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Data shows Ripple's community is dissolving fast on: May 02, 2020, 12:37:46 PM
Data shows Ripple's community is dissolving fast

It is the same with all coin communities. And this fact will not change before Bitcoin reaches $20000 again. At that time community will expand exponentially. Question is if we can call that a community at all. Or the community is people that follow coin at time where we are right now.
1423  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC value on halving on: May 02, 2020, 11:59:38 AM
Probably around $10000. Right now at least Europe and North America are very positive about covid-19. Businesses are opening. That will for sure positive influence Bitcoin. But we have only 2 weeks time. We will see negative pressure on Bitcoins price once reports of how much economy contracted in Q2. And when second covid-19 wave starts in Autumn.
1424  Economy / Economics / Re: Get ready for more tax. Save your BTC! on: May 01, 2020, 03:40:26 PM
We see it everywhere. To counter that coronavirus disaster, governments are spending money like there's no tomorrow. Budget's deficit will rise to new heights, never seen before except during war times. In US and EU, debts are staggering. The Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank are printing money faster that I'm writing it. If you ask what's next, I'm afraid there's only one answer.

In most countries, governments will have no other choice but to raise taxes. They will have to be smart to avoid killing the economy, but they will need to bring more money to balance their budget (or more likely to reduce their operating deficit).

As I haven't paid any income tax since 1997, that's all right with me, but I urge all fellow Bitcoiners to organize themselves, and to plan ahead to avoid the worst...

Or could I be wrong? There will be no more taxes next year?

Taxes will definitely increase. But not just because of government interventions now fro covid-19. But because all world governments realised that in time of crisis they can rely only on their economy. So they will start to nationalise some industries and be sure to have companies in their countries.

Crucial month ahead: Bitcoin goes to 20k or 3k range

There will be definitely bumpy months ahead. But I dont give that much chances Bitcoin will go to $3000. I think $5000 is more reasonable next bottom for Bitcoin if economic situation worsen in upcoming months.
1428  Economy / Speculation / Re: New ATH after halving? on: April 30, 2020, 03:26:36 PM
Before 2016 halving, the price went up a total of 50% and this time, when btc is getting closed to the halving, we saw this sudden price pump. During 2016, there was a little uncertainty from China, while we have now the pandemic. What do you think? Will we see 10000 above within this week and new ATH soon?

We will see $10000 sooner or latter. But for sure before end of the year.  I dont think new ATH will come that fast. Most likely not this year. To be totally sure about me saying NO to new ATH this year we will have to wait few more months to see how will covid-19 recession evolve. If things will go very worse then impossible.
1429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 30, 2020, 02:44:37 PM
Today I am just starting to study daily trading, as well as how to correctly make a technical analysis. In addition, on all the resources that I visit, they respond very positively about Altcoin Monero , because this coin has very high volatility, which gives unlimited opportunities for earning using various trading strategies.  According to research data, Monero’s growth potential is still not exhausted, and therefore it is obvious that even with the use of the simplest trading strategies on Forex, you can earn very well and most importantly do not provoke frequent triggering of stop orders.  I now try to work only on trading simulators, but meanwhile, when choosing coins for real daily trading, Monero will be one of the first.

All crypto currencies are very volatile. Actually last two months all other asset is very volatile also.  But if you compare only crypto, Monero is one of most stable coins beside Bitcoin.

You know... it will be interesting to see if/when Tari gets through it's alpha/beta phases, if something like Risto's game will be able to go online in a more "decentralized" and "trustless" manner.  I tried playing that game initially when I got into xmr, but I just really never was into those sorts of games.  I'm sure someone like Smooth or any others old school players will take on that sort of project.

There are plenty asset platforms out there already. Problem is that games dont want to bother with additional things. Store blockhain asset in secure wallets. I guess for that new generation of gamers will have to grow. We will see.  If Risto would ever want to put any of his game asset on blockchain he could easily do it back then.
1430  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the Oil be burned and how it will affect the climate on: April 30, 2020, 02:17:37 PM
Recently I heard some news that countries consider burning oil because there's no more place to store it.

As you know the oil production volumes are huge, and this means that a lot of oil will be burn.

LOL. Yes we will burn all oil by using it. If someone will have no place to store Oil he will simply not buy or not pump more Oil. And their problem with storing is solved. Why would someone buy oil and pay for it to burn it for nothing?
1431  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think the price of Bitcoin can exceed 10 thousand dollars at the present on: April 30, 2020, 01:50:23 PM
At a time when the world is in the throes of an epidemic and everyone's economy is in dire straits, I can't see any reason for the sudden rise in the price of Bitcoin. Do you think there is any reason for Bitcoin to go up so much?

How do you see reasons for Tesla shares to be so close to its ATH in time when the world is in the throes of an epidemic and everyone's economy is in dire straits?
1432  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Confused about fee on: April 30, 2020, 01:28:49 PM
I was too lazy to consolidate some of my inputs when the fee was too low, around 1sat/byte but now I nees to consolidate. I used 1 sat/byte which isn't going to be confirmed soon. Now I want to send the consolidated input (which I used 1sat/byte and unconfirmed still). Will it be confirmed if I use 100 or 200 sat per byte? Since my input now will be 1, total fee will also be lower. Will it be confirmed or I need to use more higher fee for confirming the previous tx as well.

The fastest transaction fee to be accepted in first block is currently 88 satoshis/byte
1433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero Network is under ASIC attack - Let's defend it! [Stay home and play!] on: April 30, 2020, 12:49:31 PM
Is this game also rewarding top players in coins like monero  for example ?

It is just for fun not to earn coins.  I made 48 points the other day. I know I should try harder.
1434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Siacoin Epic Monster Moon on: April 30, 2020, 12:22:23 PM
SIA had almost 100% price increase in last week.  Most likely sub 0.1 cent price will never happen again. Those were 2017 SIA prices. In few years time we will say how lucky people were to buy SIA in early 2020.
1435  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 29, 2020, 09:38:39 PM
How's r0ach doing these days? Any idea? We need to troll someone in here to (fully) celebrate this price action.

https://twitter.com/MMcrypto/status/1253547521890299905

Do not forget USD had 12.42% inflation from 2012.  So $1700 can buy you only  $1488 worth of goods.  Ounce of Gold should be $1911 right now to be worth the same as in 2012.
1436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stable coin for Every Currency on: April 28, 2020, 06:50:59 PM
Is it possible that if cryptocurrency gets accepted all over the country, tether or any other stable coin will start creating stable coin for all the currency available in the world? I think they will go for that and create money out of thin air. What do you think? Will tether do that ever in the future once crypto goes more mainstream? Or govt themselves will create their own currency at the end?
PS- Self-moderated thread to prevent spam.

I see more likely governments will crate digital coin of their currencies. Of course tether can also do it. Or any other company. But that token is still a digital national currency coin. Nothing else.

1438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto success takes time on: April 28, 2020, 05:15:42 PM
People don't want to give projects some time to grow, they forget that coins like dash, litecoin, Xmr, Bitcoin etc have a rough start, I'm just saying crypto investment takes years, just because a project drop in value doesn't mean they won't grow better in future.

Projects don't just turn huge in a year, there will be lots of volatility and price loss, for long term hold be prepared, if you can't then go for top coins

Usually there is a hype that cool down after few months and then takes few years that project matures. Most die or better gets in hibernation. They get no development but they still exist since blockchain is hard to kill. Few attract community and get developed further.  Some that were started with a premine or in an ICO die when their founds runs out.
1439  Other / Politics & Society / Re: When will covid-19 disappear? on: April 28, 2020, 04:03:21 PM
When will covid-19 disappear?

The question "when will quarantine and self-isolation end"? whole world wonders.

covid-19 threat will dispersal when there will be 60% vaccined or immune. Vaccine will most likely not be available for a year. Most countries took so strict measures they will not be able to gave 60% immunity in one year time. Maybe over time they will see from other countries what is the best way.

Vaccine will save us, a year or two they said. However the 60% immunity won't work as of now...

I am hoping this was true too but, uh, sad to say that there is still no evidences as of today that someone cannot be reinfected... I just read that 222 people in South Korea who have tested positive and fully recovers are now reinfected again with the virus. This is a problem specially with the creation of the Vaccine. They are really not sure why. So "Immunity passport" is not really the answer as of now. The WHO even says that countries should avoid creating certificates that someone is already immune to the virus because its not, there is still no evidence. There are still reinfection around the world. So yup, sorry to inform you but it was not yet the answer...

Quote
But the country is now grappling with a new problem: at least 222 people have tested positive for the virus again after recovering, and experts are not sure why.

Coronavirus quandary: Some patients in S Korea get virus again

It seems highly unlikely to mutate that fast. But what do I know. Article suggest flaws in testing or that they just needed more time to recover.  What I do know is that if you were vaccinated for last year virus or you had premutated virus and you get infected with a mutated one then you are far less sick as you are if you never had virus before.  This is why covid-19 is so dangerous since is new and no one have any defence against it in our bodies.
1440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: April 27, 2020, 08:05:25 PM
@bigslimvdub @estenity. Is the pumper whale who might be the americanpegasus trading on Tradeogre? Bittrex has more trading volume.

In any case, that would 945 sat print imply? There will be a dump?

it was corrected very quickly and not found symetrically on bittrex, so does not mean anything probably.

Trade Ogre is small exchange. 0.35 BTC dump brought price that low.  Only way to profit from that would be having open buy offers at 1000 sats.
