1461  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: December 14, 2013, 11:52:40 AM

With the HashBuster Micro removed from the equation (and hashing on a PC) the Rpi works great.

Glad to hear you got it sorted.

Glad I didn't bother buying a HashBuster Micro and got an ASICMiner Cube instead... Smiley
1462  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: December 14, 2013, 11:51:43 AM
Well I just received my BBB.  Got one with a case from Phenoptix.  The case disintegrated the first time I put it together, so that's £7.99 down the pan.  Seems to be made out of the world's most brittle perspex.  The case I got with my Pi is indestructible, despite being of almost identical design (both clones of Adafruit's cases).

Got the BBB up and running, and I must say the shipped linux distribution is terrible.  Angstrom junk.  Am going to put Ubuntu on it, but I'm plucking up the courage to drive down to ASDA through the 80mph gales and Christmas shopping traffic to get a uSD card...I'm not sure I could be bothered.  Roll Eyes

Oh, and how bright are the lights on the BBB?!?  You guys can probably see the blue flashing coming from the direction of N. Ireland....that'll be my BBB....
1463  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Overclockers.co.uk finally get with the program... on: December 14, 2013, 11:46:24 AM
Yeah, I remember sending back a GPU to them years ago.  It literally blew up the first time I plugged it in (I think it was a GF2MX), a cap just evaporated leaving a burnt hole in the board.

About a month later the fried card arrived back with "No Fault Found".   Roll Eyes  Yeah, no fault apart from the 1cm hole in the board and no video output, and no POST on the PC...

I know it's 2 dashes.

You typed one in your first post.  Roll Eyes

Your attitude stinks, so stick it up your ass.   Roll Eyes
1465  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Overclockers.co.uk finally get with the program... on: December 14, 2013, 11:07:19 AM
Just got an email from Overclockers, and they're listing a load of hardware that's "Great for Mining" - including PSUs, GPUs and the like.

Nice to see them getting in on the action, though I wonder how they'll deal with all the returns of melted PSUs and burnt out GPUs?  Cheesy
1466  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Molex to PCIe ...is it REALLY ok to do? on: December 14, 2013, 11:03:29 AM
No. This is why.

This is why you shouldn't use modular PSUs.  That melting has nothing to do with running a GPU off a molex, it has to do with a bad connection in the modular cable connection.  If there was a good connection, the WIRE would melt, not the connector.

Most molex to PCI-E cables come with two molex plugs - use two different cables from the PSU so you're splitting the load.  Less chance of melting the stupid connectors.

I was mining more than 18 hours with butterfly lab Jalapeno 5 gh/s ,im using bitminter and i didnt get any coins yet ?do i need  wait 24 hours untill they will pay me?

At 5GH you're going to be waiting a LONG time for "coins".

Most pools you need to set the payout level, most usually default to 0.1BTC, which at 5GH will likely take you about 2 months.
1468  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [875Th] Eligius: ASIC, no registration, no fee CPPSRB BTC + 105% PPS NMC, 877 # on: December 14, 2013, 10:50:48 AM

Now, none of the stats show up (all say 0 G Hash/s/ 0 balance etc), although my miner is working fine.  I also seem to get a payout (by transfer not mined) every couple of hours (obviously much lower amount).

This makes no sense at all.  Stats have been working fine for me for months.  Huh

Two dashes, not one.

Sorry to ask a further question RE: bfgminer stratum @ HellDiverUK

I've looked every where and cannot find the info regarding switches for the BFGminer proxy (On mine peon) but iv'e seen reference to --rt and --nm (midstate data) and --q ??

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=352658.msg3937690#msg3937690

1 off whizz kids posts on the Eligius pool thread he says --nm is a must for blades / cubes?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=23768.msg3867872#msg3867872

Thanks in advance

The --nm and --rt stuff is for Slush's stratum_proxy.exe - it's got nothing to do with bfgminer.

My MinePeon command is:

/opt/minepeon/bin/bfgminer -S all --http-port 8330 -c /opt/minepeon/etc/miner.conf

Assuming you've done a git pull to get MinePeon's version of bfgminer up to 3.8.0

Then all you do is set the Pi's IP address in the server section of the Blade's config, port, and put in a unique username and password on each Blade - it doesn't matter what it is, as long as it's not the same as any other Blade you're going to use.

If it's all working within a few minutes you should see a PXY device appear on the MinePeon screen.

Simples. Smiley
1471  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Blue Fury Miners V2 2.6Gh/s on: December 14, 2013, 09:23:52 AM
So, with the faulty BlueFury miners not having been replaced, and an offer of NanoFurys as replacement (which also haven't appeared due to component shortages), some of us are now looking refunds. Even if shipped to Europe on Monday, it'll be well in to the second week of the new year before they get to us.

That means more than 2 months to get a replacement.

What are the chances of a full refund?  Slim?  None?
1472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GUIMiner-scrypt v.0.04 - How to create a backup pool? on: December 13, 2013, 06:10:13 PM
From memory, that program makes a .bat file in the GUIMiner-scrypt folder.   For example, if you set up a "7950" setting in GUIMiner, you'll find a 7950.bat file.  You can add a backup pool by editting that .bat file.
1473  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [UK GROUP BUY] ASICminer Cube group buy #9 on: December 13, 2013, 04:57:31 PM

not very load at all - though I have it sat in a noisy room anyway...

Thanks. Smiley

I hope by the lack of posting by OC3k, he's out at the Post Office sending the 2nd batch. Smiley
1474  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [EU/UK GROUP BUY] Blue Fury USB miner 2.2 - 2.7 GH/s on: December 13, 2013, 04:11:16 PM
I think we're well within our rights to have our BTC refunded, do you not think ?
+ 1
Anyone who has returned a unit should receive a full refund. This is beyond a joke.

This.  The current offer of replacing with Nanofurys isn't looking so good now.

I'd rather have the BTC back and get another Cube.  Yes, 38GH for the price of 2GH (near enough).
1475  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: December 13, 2013, 12:11:41 PM
I'll have more anecdotes once I get the second rig cased over the weekend.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread, I'll be interested to hear your findings. Smiley
1476  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [UK GROUP BUY] ASICminer Cube group buy #9 on: December 13, 2013, 12:06:30 PM
To the guys who have their Cubes already - how loud is the fan in the Cube?

My mining rig lives behind the sofa in the living room, so I don't want too much noise.  Is the fan temp controlled, or does it just run flat out all the time like the BFL fans?
1477  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [EU/UK GROUP BUY] Blue Fury USB miner 2.2 - 2.7 GH/s on: December 13, 2013, 11:59:38 AM
Bitfury are, without a shadow of a doubt, the single worst company I have ever dealt with.

Beastlymac has lied through his teeth to us throughout this whole process and the product has been functioning well below spec.

Utterly dreadful company. This has been a horrendous experience from beginning-to-end.

Thank GOD we had outcast3k doing his best to communicate, even when there was no news.

+1

I'm undecided if Bitfury or BFL are worse.

Bitfury were late, underperforming and unreliable.  I had 50% failure rate with Bitfury.  Still waiting on repair/replacement.  At stock speeds the BlueFury's heatsink was totally and utterly inadequate.  I upgraded the sink on mine, and it still runs at 'holy-shit' temps.

BFL, OK they were 5 months late for me, but both my units are working above their advertised speed, and so far been totally reliable.  They 'just work'.

Any update on the 2nd batch ETA?

Looks like its out for delivery, so I should receive them today \Grin/

As long as I receive them by 3:30-4:00pm, I should just about, have time to send them all today.

EPIC!
