Glad to see that this project will be run by allied control themselves and not one of their customers.

Few questions:

Quote
<$820/T (<$0.82/G)

Is that including the cost of the asics?

Quote
$18/kW total operating cost per month

Is this accurate? That translates to about $0.025/kwh which would be incredibly good.

2100W under a single fan?
Can those heat amounts be dissipated through that small construction?

Looks like 600gh per box.

Not a bad idea to break up the neptune if you ask me.

Gives much more flexibility as 2100w units are just inconvenient.
1483  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 17, 2014, 04:57:45 PM
Thanks for the update!

I'm sure many will be happy to be able to trade on havelock.
1484  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: RK-BOX,450GH/S,480W ,shipping date 25th on: June 17, 2014, 06:28:07 AM
any canadian resellers yet? and just looking for some clarification here.
will i be able to use a dedicated pc for the usb cables instead of r-pi?
and will the prices of the miners be adjust per batch or daily like bitmain?

might be able to help you with this Wink

AMAZING ! let me know when things come through. i will be back from costa rica on the 4th of july. and i should have more than enough for one unit.

https://www.wtcr.ca

Here's the canadian distributer.

No rx or rkboxes for sale yet. Only rboxes.

Rest assured he doesn't know what he is talking about. Boiling is not cavitation.  Cavitation is the sudden formation and violent supersonic collapse of vapor bubbles following quick swings in pressure such as one encounters in the water flowing from pressure to suction side of a propeller or impeller in water.  It can also be cause by tortuous bends in pipes, etc, anywhere a volatile liquid flows through wild pressure gradients.

Cavitation is effect, which happens when liquid boiling and vaporize. Cavitation damage large bearings and turbines. Cavitation damage even huge turbines and bearings, which made from the metal. So, what will happen with PCB Boards after 1 year using?
Need proofs? Okay
Photo of damaged turbine
Issue from Princeton University
Cavitation Damage

We already know cavitation is a real thing. Now prove it exists in immersion cooling.

Here's a quote from wikipedia:

Quote
The physical process of cavitation inception is similar to boiling. The major difference between the two is the thermodynamic paths that precede the formation of the vapor. Boiling occurs when the local vapor pressure of the liquid rises above its local ambient pressure and sufficient energy is present to cause the phase change to a gas. Cavitation inception occurs when the local pressure falls sufficiently far below the saturated vapor pressure, a value given by the tensile strength of the liquid at a certain temperature.

this guy on the picture just playing on public.
You mean this guy, 3M, IBM, Intel, Allied control, Coolermaster, Zotac, etc..

Quote
For instance, if we pour some 3M liquid on the table - it vaporize out less than 1 minute.
If system suddenly get leak and 250-300 liters will vaporize , how can service staff fix this problem without respirator?

That is simply not true.

Have you ever spilled liters of water in a room and seen it evaporate within minutes? Although heat of vaporization is much lower than water, it still takes a lot of energy to vaporize.

With some simple safety controls there should be no problem with toxicity.

Again, if the people at allied control/3m are living in this stuff, it can't be so harmful.
1486  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: XBTec Announce. New ASIC manufacturer on: June 16, 2014, 08:58:53 PM

2. 3M really very dangerous for people, in case of leak liquid. Service staff have to use gas respirator, if they wanna to stay alive.

How so? Novec fluid has very low toxicity and is nonflamable (even used in fire extinguishers).

I've also never heard of cavitation being a problem. Got a source for that?

Also any progress on the pacific 2000? Shipping date? Power consumption at the wall?

that is reason, they can not get safety certificate, and probably will never get it.
If large volume of liquid leak... it could be lethal dose. This liquid is ether in fact.

if you have never heard about cavitation damage, it does not mean this problem is not exists
Sources:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavitation#Cavitation_damage
http://www.engineersedge.com/pumps/cavitation.htm

To add to this:
If you look up the data sheet of Novec based fire extinguishers, look in the toxicity section. It says its 'safe'. Look at the methodology. The acute 4 hour poisoning is 'safe', which means given the assumptions it has a 60-120% safety margin. This goes entirely out the window when you're dealing with a warehouse full of the stuff.

Nonsense.

http://solutions.3mae.ae/wps/portal/3M/en_AE/3MNovec_APAC/Home/Support/Safety/

This page explains the safety pretty well.

As for cavitation, I know it exists.

What I don't know is whether it exists in 2-phase immersion cooling but I do know that it's not a problem because extensive testing has shown it's not a problem.

What did just happen on Havelock? That doesn't make any sense! Why has the 0.25 bid been nibbled, but there's no trade? Yes, i refreshed.

It's because the person bought all orders below 0.25.
1488  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is worth to start with the low budget? on: June 16, 2014, 09:09:39 AM
Btcgardens new asic is about $440 for 310gh. (including shipping and psu)

Very competitive pricing for low budget miners.

1490  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: btcgarden-AM-v1 sold out! New coming will be 21st June! on: June 16, 2014, 07:18:45 AM
The only difference is the fan. Blue Rose with blue light, the other doesn’t.

One last question. What's the weight and dimensions of the box it will be shipping in?
1491  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: btcgarden-AM-v1 sold out! New coming will be 21st June! on: June 16, 2014, 06:35:47 AM
SMP is raspberry pi. And $370 is for BTCGarden-AM-Silence. Blue Rose is 10 bucks up.

Thanks.

What's the difference between the two?
1492  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: btcgarden-AM-v1 sold out! New coming will be 21st June! on: June 16, 2014, 06:07:44 AM

In one month we will have 0.5W/GH miners while you are waiting to sell last year power efficiency chips.

You know that 0.5w/gh at the wall is last years performance right?

Bitfury 55nm chips could go as low as 0.38w/gh or about 0.5w/gh at the wall.

Is 60P worth of wafers not healthy?

Of course it's not healthy if they won't sell. How do you presume FC bought 60P worth of wafers if the chips were not selling?

They will sell as long as it remains the best deal.

Spongebobtech had to crowdfund via non-refundable preorders just to build something like half that amount even though they didn't lack the capital.

I thought their operation was funded with VC, eliminating the need for pre-orders.

Yes, they are fully funded yet they still choose to go with non-refundable preorders and are admittedly using the money to build the asics.

The company ran 9 months without taking any money and they got the SP10 miner in the market without the need for pre-orders. Not something that AM did anyway.

Enjoy your non-existing dividends blind shareholders.

So it's completely acceptable to take preorders because you sold in stock built to order hardware?

Regardless of whether the investments were private or not, the company did not run 9 months with no funding.

But yes you are right AM did not take 9 months to produce working hardware. They did it in only 6.

Both AM and spongebobtech used VC to produce and sell hardware. But only spongebobtech is crowdfunding via non-refundable preorders.

None because if it were possible bitcoin would be useless.

I posed the question; why crowd funding?

It's really quite simple. They lack the capital.

Would it be better if they took non-refundable preorders instead?

Of course I can't predict the future. The same way you can't predict when will you receive dividends. It can be in 1 month, it can be in 6 months.

So why are you asking us questions we cannot answer?

I can't wait to see the reaction of new Neptune owner's (and SP30) on how big these rigs are physically and how much heat really pours out of them.

Too true, the future of mining is DC hosting or similar ... 12 months from now the landscape will be very different.

It is, but jimmothy still thinks that the home mining is the future Smiley

It's not "the future" but it is part of it.

There will be huge mining operations and small home operations.

The people who are forced to pay a datacenter for hosting will simply be squeezed out of the game due to the unnecessary additional costs.

You don't honestly think that ALL home miners are just going to stop their operations right?
1499  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 15, 2014, 10:28:02 PM
I can't recall mentioning anything about any other hardware manufacturer. The discussion which is current, is regarding the use of further crowd-funding to enable AM to pay dividends on past crowd-funded endeavours.

Are you really trying to tell us that your constant trashing of every asic manufacturer (besides spongebobtech) is in no way related to the fact that you get paid to pimp spongebobtech hardware?

You don't need to have a reverse hardon for every company that is not giving money to spongebobtech.

This project is using AM chips. Get over it.

I have been forced to rectify the text in your post Roadstress. see above, old chap.  Cool

How much PH do you think this project is going to be asking to fund? Do you honestly think it is anywhere near 60?
