Bump

10x 6970's would sell on ebay for about $2000, the rest maybe another $1000, maybe a more if you sold each item one at a time.  I do not think $5000 is gonna happen.

Hey, guys! I'm selling some clothing for BTC. The payment method is available already! Now suing BitPay ^^

You are probably using them, not suing them.  I hope so at least, they are good guys!
1483  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Asic Design Discussion on: February 07, 2013, 02:14:12 AM
Energy density matters.  Xbox360 GPU consumed about 100W from a square area the size of your smallest fingernail.  Each of the 80 SHA256 processors consumes about 2W and combined they are spread out over the surface area of a small book.  Comparing the cooling requirements isn't exactly apples to apples.
2W per chip is not too bad if the board is connected well heat wise to the heatsink and the heat can make it from the chip, through the board and into that heatsink.   The fans look powerful enough to do the job.

As Kev says, the only issue I see is the differential with some of the chips getting hotter then others. If there is room, little heatsinks on the hotter rows of chips could help.

This is foto (my old USB cam) of a prototype board (4,8 GH/s):

I didn't know that LCD driver boards can hash!  I wonder how many gigahash I can get from my Samsung 221BW

I know from the BFL policy that you do not need to be the original owner, I assume that avalon are planning the same.

I learned something watching "The Bad News Bears"

Keep a small amount on a machine as a security test.  If it goes you have a problem.

1487  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Are Botnets Afraid of ASICs? on: February 05, 2013, 03:44:36 AM

Click on the image to see the most up-to-date statistics.

It may just be amazing luck, but "unknown" is getting 49% of the blocks in the last 24 hours. "Unknown" is unknown but assume most of the hashing is done by botnets.

Are they trying to get as much BTC as they can before the difficulty increases? Are they running scared?

Just a guess...  botnets are probably 10-15% of the hashrate.

ASICs will make botnets irrelevant.

Paul Harvey killed it for Dodge.

Nice HDR too.

Dodge was my favorite, along with the one for the turbo Hyundai.
1489  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which version of Windblows? on: February 05, 2013, 01:52:04 AM
It's very simple.  Windows versions are like Star Trek movies.  Every other one is good.

Win 3.1 good
Win 95 bad
Win 98 good
Win me bad
Win xp good
Win vista bad
Win 7 good  << Winner over XP due to 64 bit, security, etc
Win 8 bad

It's a nice design, but maybe it could look a bit cooler?

A vector style can go miles in this design.

I have sold a few of these but I am open to new designs.

1492  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Trying to gauge victims of potential WalletBit class action on: February 03, 2013, 04:02:30 PM
For those that participated in the adventures yesterday trying to get into the Avalon batch #2 preorder, there were all kinds of fun things that happened. I consulted with an attorney yesterday about bring a class action about the matter. After much discussion, although Avalon had screw ups on their part, a suit against them isn't as easy or would be something the attorney would be very interested in. However, the details surrounding WalletBit's duties and breeches, along with potential losses from users is much more real and something the attorney would consider taking on contingency depending on the size of the class.

So, not as an offer of legal advice or promise of representation, how many people are there that made it through the shopping cart, to WalletBit and ended up paying a small amount? The attorney likes the fact that Avalon push a valid token to WalletBit for the correct USD, and WalletBit showed a small amount, usually just a couple of USD to pay. They have now said that instead of honoring those payments or requesting the rest of the dollar amount that they are instead only refunding those amounts.

The goal as part of the class action would be, A, you made a payment of a smaller amount to get in on the preorder. And B, because of the refund, you then fail on round 2 part 2 to get into Avalon's batch 2. The damages against WalletBit would be for loss mining revenue due to increased difficulty by getting a later order. Although difficult to calculate, attorney's always seem to come up with a number.

The potentially also as part of the suit, would be those that made it to WalletBit, and did not send an incorrect low USD value of BTC because it was obviously wrong. These cases would be harder to prove and things like screenshots may be helpful in being included in the class.

The attorney would like to see a class size of at least 1,000 people. Maybe that is a realistic number, maybe not. If you would post that you're interested or send me a private message let's just see where we are at. Obviously everyone that tried won't post or private message but we will be able to subpoena their records to get the full client transactions but I'm not entirely sure if those include name and addresses on WalletBit's side or not. The way that Bitcoin works will surely make this interesting.

The other thing is if the class size is only around 500 and those 500 people all are able to get into batch #2 still, they wouldn't be part of the class.

I'm sad how things happened, and have ignored ASIC's as much as I could until I saw that Jeff had one in his hands. Now I've got mining fever again!

There are so many things wrong with what you have written and what you are trying to do it is hard to know where to start.

1) You seem to want something more then a just refund of incorrect transactions. This is the biggest fault right here.
2) You could not get 1000 people.
3) You have not given WalletBit any time to make things right and are already talking lawsuit.  Welcome to America.
4) Good luck considering that one of the parties is overseas (Avalon) and like it or not they are involved.

It seems like you are looking for some kind of undeserved payday.

I just keep watching the amount of BTC between the market and $20 getting lower and lower.  Slowly these loose coins are being bought up.
1497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you continue using Bitcoin if a evil governement/organisation join in on: January 31, 2013, 12:11:59 AM
The question is...how much would Bitcoin turn that evil government to good?

Exactly.  You can not spend BTC you do not have.
1498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you continue using Bitcoin if a evil governement/organisation join in on: January 30, 2013, 12:38:57 PM
Let say that a country like Iran or Nk start using BTC to finance some of their activities or organization like "alqaida" ask ransom in BTC.

The US government killed way more people than Al Qaida and Iran and many people use USD...

FYI:

While the US probably has killed more then Al Quaida and Iran, your infographic has many lies in it.  Iran attacked Iraq is the easiest but there are many others.
1499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stores Can Now Charge You Extra Just for Using a Credit Card on: January 30, 2013, 04:04:43 AM

it sounds a lot better when you say it the other way. i.e. stores can now offer a discount for using cash!

In almost every state they could already do that before this law.
1500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stores Can Now Charge You Extra Just for Using a Credit Card on: January 29, 2013, 09:39:24 PM
Most store may choose not to raise the fee, at least not immediately.

Actually, the whole thing is just so odd. At what time before that charging one payment method a higher price is illegal?

Isn't you can charge a price you like?

There was no law in most states.  The credit card companies made you sign a contract stating you will not charge more for cards.  If you don't agree you can't take cards.  This law says that part of the contract is not legal anymore and the merchant can charge for cards and CAN NOT be terminated for this.
