1481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IS BITCOIN A CIA PROJECT? on: August 01, 2014, 10:19:42 PM
Gavin Andresen was invited to speak to the CIA in 2011. I doubt they would be asking him for infos if they had already invented and successfully initiated public adoption of BTC. It is obvious that BTC will be very useful for CIA operations, seeing as their jurisdiction is OUTSIDE the USA and funds often need to be moved across boarders covertly.

The problem with just about every single conspiracy theory out there is this; If it is such top-secret high-level operations that are supposed to take place without public knowledge, how come the most whacked out, idiotic, poor, dumb hillbillies are the ones that always uncover the "real story"? You would think that the weakest link in the chain would be the very last to figure out this shit. I guess there is some sort of info leak that flows directly through every trailer park and welfare office in America. Chemtrails are bullshit too (its called jet fuel exhaust). Sorry, Sol Adoni, but your paranoid babbling is unreadable claptrap.
1482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My local Boys & Girls Club of America could use your help! Donate with Bitcoin! on: July 30, 2014, 11:20:58 PM
About a month ago I got a text from someone who saw my ad on Localbitcoins. Judging by the message the guy sent, I sorta had a bad feeling that I knew what they needed the Bitcoin for. I text the guy back and said

"Don't tell me that you are buying Bitcoin to unlock your computer from a ransomware!?"

The guy responded back

"Ok, I won't, and I won't say that it starts Crypto either"  (For the skeptics who don't know how to use Google, the ransomware was Cryptodefender.)

He then text back telling me that he was working on behalf of the local Boy's & Girl's Club of America, and that the computer that was locked was their accounting PC, and that they needed to get in it ASAP. I then sold them the Bitcoin

I stopped reading right there. Ransomware scams take your money, but the computer never gets unlocked.
1483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Messing With a Bitcoin Scammer on: July 30, 2014, 11:15:45 PM
funny, but the problem is, you are dealing with a low-level guy, most likely someone who is extorted into doing the dirty work for some serious gangsters. If you make too big a fool of them, their higher ups may actually kill them or harm their family. organized crime is like that, they make examples of people over slights. Best to simply ignore. You don't need to victimize some poor soul any further than he is being victimized already, do you? I know they are trying to con you, but if its that obvious it isnt worth worrying over. If you feel a need for vindication simply educate potential victims.  That will hurt the goons the most.
1484  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: July 30, 2014, 10:39:37 PM
ASICminer is a long range investment. The salon's main theme is "mining in the age of exahash", which we have not reached yet but will very soon. I like this sort of forward thinking. If FC was running around trying to mine all the coins at present network rates he would be playing a loser's game. Seems like he is already making moves to stay afloat in an exponentially growing network (franchising, R&D on newer better chips, open sourcing, community building amongst miners) Solo mining is very lovely to give ADD shareholders something to fixate on, but long term success requires more focus on innovative approach. It is more or less a given (and known for quite some time already) that the future of mining belongs to giant industrial operations. If FC has plans to move on that market, which I believe he very much has, we are in a great position. Bring on the salon, I hope there are many fluent chinese/english speakers ready to relay all that goes on there. I think we will hear some bold new strategies to take us into the age of exahash as leaders of the game!

yes, I hold shares in ASICminer, and yes I'm cheerleading. Go team!

I gave my info to MSD. I don't need to be anonymous. Im not really confident there could be much by way of a buy back ( of course,Kenny has raised funds out of thin air in the past)
I am simply a vengeful fucker and will enjoy seeing ken jailed for failing to pay.
And, before I forget... ALWAYS BET ON ICE (I've been waiting a loooong time to do that lol)
1486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin slowly loosing its popularity? on: July 29, 2014, 11:53:00 PM
"losing" not "loosing", please.
1487  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: July 28, 2014, 10:57:48 PM
Winning is great, sure, but if you are really going to do something in life, the secret is learning how to lose. Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, and go on to win again, you are going to be a champion someday.

looks like its just another bitcoin industry convention. salon=industry convention, or better yet; an assembly of guests in such a room, especially an assembly, common during the 17th and 18th centuries, consisting of the leaders in society, art, politics, etc.

interesting that friedcat is organizing it, and it will be interesting to see what comes out at it.
1489  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: July 25, 2014, 04:03:07 AM
Interesting

FC registered an ID on weibo.com(twitter in china) today.
and he announced there would be a salon in shenzhen on the 8th Oct.

can someone translate the entire thing?

or give direct source?

I doubt he would publically announce a salon to bring bad news.

Deep down I was feeling the silence was due to something grand about to be unveiled, but what?

I'm excited.
1490  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: July 24, 2014, 04:05:39 AM
That train has sailed as AM doesn't have the money and the deployment capabilities to deploy a big scale self mining operation. FC could do it right as soon as he had chips in hand, but he didn't do it.

Exactly! Since deploying large amounts of machines is a difficult endeavor, he chose to sell the chips. Unfortunately they didn't perform as well as expected. So now when he's looking for ways to deploy hashrate he has nothing prepared. Man, he was just unlucky.
By the way, what does your name mean. It sounds like you're on the road all day long and when you get home you are completely stressed out!

friedcat was already unable to deploy chips after he maxed out his DC in china with Gen 1.
The fabled immersive DC was built and never used.
The mining franchises honestly struck me as a way for AM to bootstrap their own new companies (free of shareholders) while using company funds to get it done (chips being sold at cost made me consider this even more).
Gen 2 was a wash, Gen 3 was sold at cost frankly I dont see gen 4 doing anything other than failing or being sold at cost again to shell companies.

I dont see AM climbing out from under the thumb of Bitfury+GHash.io who seem to keep an insane amount of hashing power in reserve so they can squash all profitibility of any other mining company by switching them on as the other companies (ie AM) deploy.

mems 2c

the fear that this is the situation has been lurking in my mind for some time now. i truly hope it is not really what is going on.

come on Friedcat, give us something. the silence is breeding paranoia in here.
1491  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin (BTC/USD) Price Prediction. $4000-$6500 by August/September 2014. on: July 23, 2014, 08:38:28 PM
I would love it for this to happen but I see this year as a repeat of 2012...let's blowoff some steam, consolidate, and 2015 will be the next rally.
Given how slow things have been lately, I could see it going this way.  I think it mostly depends on when the next big investor opportunity occurs, whether it be an ETF launching or a large market opening up (Russia?).

U think it will be in Russia?

Man i think more like on some country that we least expect.

Maybe some south american country or some other europe country, for price more likely end of year or first quarter of next.

I only see a country like Iceland getting away with it, I just hope they don't dump as it happened with AUR, but of course that was basically free money, and when in need people will want the quick benefits.

Totally blew my mind that Russia did a 120 degrees turn and is now watching bitcoin. I believe they realized the potential and don't want to be left out. They also like a good space program after all!

Iceland total population is 320,137 as of this writing. wouldn't make much difference.

If all out, international-involvement-type  war breaks concerning the Ukraine situation, it would most likely affect bitcoin adoption/price, but Putin seems to be making some efforts to avoid escalation.

mostly I expect bitcoin to move sideways for some time, unless, India dives in big time. That doesn't seem to be happening yet, either.
1492  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [CRYPTO-TRADE v2.0] Crypto-Trade.com Exchange & IPO -new- official thread! on: July 21, 2014, 06:31:23 AM
i can't even log in. wtf?
1493  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: July 17, 2014, 07:02:24 PM
My guess is; we Will not see update until end of July. There are so many franchising deals going through, it would make more sense to see them through before reporting on them. (This is pure speculation)

1496  Economy / Securities / Re: Hall of Shame: Vote for your Favorite Worst Crypto-CEO's Ever!! on: June 13, 2014, 10:06:02 PM
Mircea popescu - price manipulation on his ridiculous exchange and hyperactive trolling/sabatauge of every bitcoin entity out there. Not exactly scam, per se but such terrible ethics and underhanded business practices I think he deserves a mention

*plus he is so arrogant, including him here will drive him crazy lol
1497  Economy / Securities / Re: Hall of Shame: Vote for your Favorite Worst Crypto-CEO's Ever!! on: June 13, 2014, 09:07:35 PM

Seriously, if am does half as good, I'm sitting pretty
1499  Economy / Securities / Re: Am I the only one who thinks SHAT is a horrible name for an asset? Havelock? on: June 11, 2014, 09:13:34 AM
If you sell them on the quick margin would you be sharting?
1500  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: June 11, 2014, 07:54:58 AM
So long as the divs start rolling well before the next btc spike we will be fine.
If the most optimistic predictions for am's performance come true, I will be able to cover my losses from virtually every other garbage scheme I bought into, plus some. God I hope so, what a miserable experience the bitcoin securities market has been for me this last year. If am fails me I'm done like the dog's dinner. If they can shock the market into a massive panic buy with those fat fat divs we all expect, it will make my year of ulcers all worthwhile.
we could see a perfect storm and I think am has what it takes to go all the way!
I can't wait!

Much love and faith to the cat who is braised!
