Hey all

Let's give the Reddit post some support. It needs it:

Good questions! Thanks.

Just a few musings of mine:

1. Won't XC's resources be hugely stretched with Blocknets (cool name btw!) development on top of an already demanding XC roadmap? I mean we're still a long way off Rev 3 and can only see it being delayed further with this new project, Dan is only human after all!

- No it'll be the opposite: the huge development muscle of all the participating coins will become available (and funded) for Blocknet development.

Quote
2. I can see a lot of XC holders, myself included, hedging their bets by trading XC for shares of Blocknet. This will surely see the price of XC drop quite a bit as the XC supplied to Blocknet Inc. will be sold on the exchanges to help fund their development.

- XC will not be dumped onto the market. It'll be used to pay for development. Also, XC's price will rise because shares are 10% cheaper when you buy them with XC.

Quote
3. I'm also wondering how much does Blocknet's success depend on the success of XCurrency the coin? I ask because I'm worried that if XCurrency isn't doing so well in the medium term future, for whatever reason, could Dan and co 'jump ship' so to speak and focus solely on Blocknet services? I mean that could be very profitable in its own right.

- The Blocknet is like the internet: any web company can rise or fall and it'll still be there.
- XC is the powerhouse behind the majority of the Blocknet's tech.
- XC Inc will launch and its purpose will be solely to develop XC-based tech. So XC will only get more powerful.

Where can I buy into blocknet?

You'll be able to buy shares on 29 October at traditional exchanges and at the NHZ asset exchange.

Hang on,

so has the ITO changed ?

Do we have to buy shares now?

I was under the impression they went to those that held XC  Huh

No this is completely distinct from XC Inc, which will be a private company.

The rules for the Blocknet ITO are different from the XC Inc one.

Here's a PDF version of all the announcements:

You'll find that every previous announcement is now linked to it.

NHZ leaked it while you were on #3...kind of an interesting practice in patience keeping that quiet so your flow wouldn't get messed with...

Ha ha. Thank you! That was very ethical of you. :-)

So I noticed DRK wasn't in the list?  Grin

Hilarious!

Are the contributing coins the only ones that will be involved or could other developers join at a later stage?

Also, on a side note, what happened to QBK?

Other coins are welcome to join at a later stage.

QBK are still here, and their ad server is still on the roadmap.

Hi everyone,

I would like to thank XC Team for choosing fibre to be part of Blocknet.

As synechist mentioned this is a win-win situation, we are here to do whatever is needed.

I believe Working together will bring more awareness worldwide for all participates.

We will be unstoppable Smiley

Krushang

Welcome!

I'm super excited to be part of creating the most significant development in crypto yet.

It's the core idea behind the internet, now possible with blockchains.

Let's do this!

Provisional ITO rules.
This is completely separate from the XC Inc ITO, which will happen a fair bit later.

[snip]

The one thing im missing in this is: why would i want to buy into this? What's in it for token holders?

You'll be speculating on the success of the biggest powerhouse in crypto.

(Also, Blocknet-specific services (i.e. those not linked to any specific coin) are monetised and the revenues from them will be returned to holders.)

How do XC holders benefit from this? How do we participate in Blocknet's ITO?

From what I'm reading shares will be 10% off if you pay with one of the participating coins.
Question: What happens to coins that are used to pay for some shares?

Yes that's correct: 10% off the share price.

The coins will be under the control of the Blocknet Foundation, and they'll fund the development of the "internet of blockchains".

(BTW this isn't the same strategy as the XC Inc ITO. XC Inc is a private company and we wouldn't want it accepting XC coins because that would centralise the money supply. But the Foundation is controlled by all the participating coins so it's not an issue.)

This is great for XC, but what is the incentive for participating coins?  Do they pick and choose what features will be offered on blocknet? Why would I use stealthsend or librexsend when I can just use XC's private transactions? Why would I buy Apex coin when I can just buy xc and use xbridge to have access to everything?

Nice question.

Other coins will use the Blocknet because:

- their userbase goes up exponentially
- their services bring in revenues from a far larger market
- their coin benefits from the tech of other coins.

It's a win-win scenario.

Are the currencies shown here already "in" or are these just examples? (SDC?)

They're all in.
