If I accept zeta coin in exchange for digital sleuthing services complete with a wordpress page and a zetacoin address does that count as services offered for ZTE?  would I collect the bounty?  I am really good at finding people, Names, emails, I'd like more Zetacoin, can we agree?

1544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Give your kids their pocket money in Bitcoin on: August 16, 2013, 08:28:01 AM
I totally agree. I'll set up my children's computers to block porn, but other than that they're free to do anything on it unless I personally catch them doing something dubious (e.g. cloning phones, really bad black hat hacking, etc.)

Implying there is anything wrong with... any of those. The only problem would be if there was an intent to harm someone.

Here's a half a bitcoin timmy - now dont let me catch you on silk road buying up porn or drugs with this!  Would work better if there were 'merchant kit' versions of pdfs out there that taught kids to accept btc in different business ventures like lemonade stands garage sales bookfairs fundraisers etc.

1546  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: A plea to Yifu on: August 15, 2013, 12:36:41 AM

No they didn't what?

Yifu said they were held in customs since 2 weeks.  I take that to mean that there were 4 weeks between the end of the promised lead time and when the chips hit customs.  What happened during that time?  If chips were ready, why did they sit for 4 weeks?

The tracking code is clearly identifiable on the images as they are high res, and in another thread I believe someone had mentioned Hong Kong was a destination, but check for yourself. Cannot remember which thread but it had a link to check the Chinese tracking no.

http://imgur.com/a/GR0e3

Apparently it originated from here;

http://www.btcman.com/bbs/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=4621&extra=page%3D1&page=4

But I don't read Chinese.

EDIT: Found this though: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=252233.msg2682662#msg2682662

I don't know what you are trying to say.  That they WEREN'T in customs?  I'm not sure how your picture of Chips destined for Hong Kong proves they weren't in customs...

Because from the time they were posted in the BTCman forum (where they originated in a thread) they apparently originated from a disenchanted Bitsyncom member of their design team, Gridchip, who was insinuating they had already taken delivery of all these chips before he left, or he was in possession of them.
You need to find someone who speaks Chinese.

Last links in English, click that it states there was a split in Bitsyncom;

Basically, this team designed chips(110nm) for Avalon.

And for some unknown reason, they are looking for some new partner/investor.(40nm)
And,we don't know what happened inside Avalon.
To summarize what you and johnyj have said:
(1) Key members of the Avalon design team are now independent of Avalon;
(2) This new design team is proposing the development of a 40nm chip;
(3) The team is seeking investment - as in capital, as opposed to crowd source or pre-sales.

IS THIS CORRECT?
Where you assumed that they seek investment or new partner? Also, where is evident that they bitsysncom asic team has split inside?
Maybe this has something to do with btc address for chip purchases? Yifu said that who claim that they own that btc address.
This is why is asked for clarification.  As to my inferences:
(1) yuchuanzhen stated "Based on the author's words, may be some thing happened to the Avalon team. And,most like a big one."
(2) and (3), yuchuanzhen stated "And for some unknown reason, they are looking for some new partner/investor.(40nm)"

Again, this development is currently, in primary source, in Chinese.  I think everyone who is reporting it, in English, should be very careful to be very clear.  Presumptions themselves may not translate correctly, even if they are, themselves, correct.

EDIT: As above, Minor Miner may well be more capable in clearing this up if he speaks Chinese.

wow you're on like everything I seem to read mr bitcoinarama....I came on to ask the OP:  what do you possibly do for a family weekend getaway on only 200 bucks???  I did the math that is like 2 days of motel6 hotel room at 60 usd per night with a remaining 80 dollars to split up between meals and Travel - It would only work for like me and a 2nd person if we went out to each, stayed at a hotel one night and didnt road trip it farther than a half tank of gas.  Even if you bag a hybrid that only costs you 30 USD for a full tank, that is still like 50 bucks to split on 6 meals (12 if you have a partner/spouse) that you need to split 50 dollars on.  That sounds like a really shitty weekend getaway - please hook me up with knowledge to prove otherwise.
1547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 15, 2013, 12:31:32 AM
Cooling case material and appearance aside.  Here is the real issue.  These were supposed to be professional mining machines.  I have yet to see a 4U machine with an external power supply.  Further, in an average cabinet, where would you put said external power supply and be able to close the door?  Do we just have to eat rackspace and deal with cable management for 3cm bundles per machine?   Seems like a nightmare.  I have to be honest, I've got a fairly sizable order with them and at this point I'm debating asking for a refund and/or selling them.  Their product is starting to look more and more like the cobbled stacks of FPGA boards on stand-offs with fans zip tied to them and USB hubs taped everywhere, not that they're doing this, but it has the design and foresight of.

-1 KnC Miner.

yes PLEASE cancel your order!!!  thanks!!

PS-  I have no clue why Bitcoinarama uses all his time trying to get more people to buy these..   let's all just say these are terrible and will crumble during their first hashing

I don't, it's just clear there are people here intent on creating fear, uncertainty and doubt for their own gain.

I couldn't care less what people buy as long as they research it themselves and can afford not to go into debt over it.

The guys working on this are a knowledgeable, fun and competitive bunch. I hope once they have something worth showing they'll make an effort to demonstrate it so you can see the team.

Marcus doesn't want to go on camera with Sam again though, as Sam is never happy and keeps re-taking, and Marcus just wants it done in one take. This is why Marcus looks so pissed off in their first video, it literally almost came to blows, apparently there were some funny outtakes they may release at somepoint.

It's the total opposite with the tech side though. Sam won't let Marcus be a perfectionist as time is the priority (in this project).

see thats all I wanted - PHOTOS!  lol. I get that things could be changed...but this shows that they are making progress and plan to keep on schedule (are putting their best efforts to do such at least)
1548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 14, 2013, 05:25:32 AM
Assuming that the first month to 6 weeks will return the best results whenever these rigs are delivered, an option might be to bang yours on Ebay after that period with a reasonable reserve and see if you can do better than it would mining? Maybe fund your gen2  machine a little while it's worth something. I've seen people pay stupid money for machines not half as good as these and not even in hand. You never know, and if no-one bites no harm done.

We could all look at it like that versus this right?  (its all still speculation)

USD 15040 total dollars returned from mining in October with Jupiter  = 7200 price and shipping for jupiter + it makes money until July 2014 which is roughly 7840 dollars of profit at that! therefore (http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/b4f90fa51a)

if you buy it for the sake of the argument at 100 dollars an throw in a fee we could say 71.92 BTC for that same $7200.  So 15040 USD/71.92 BTC that could have been held instead of mining..the bitcoin cost per USD only needs to be 209.12.  Lets say that you buy in right now instead around 111 USD each.   You only need the price to hit 231.88 to see the same profit you WOULD HAVE if you bought a KNC Jupiter - clearly if you plan to gamble some money...gambling says to ask if BTC price plans to be around 220 ish dollars between now and July of Next year.  If you think If will not...then you will gain more from buying Miners and mining BTC along with other alts as they have the chance to appreciate later in the future and less people are willing to invest time or fiat into it which would influence the cost.  If you think it could reach this price or higher before July of 2014 then I'd say to Buy the btc and sell it at or near that price after trading fees are calculated (both on the Buy and Sell side).  It would have the potential to either appreciate higher or you could sell it again then rebuy it.  I don't see BTC going into a super high demand over even fiat unless its accepted mainstream a LOT more - like earn btc and pay your cell phone bill, cable bill, car insurance bill DIRECT with btc, no exhange to fiat involved.

I'd feel like the sweetspot to sell should be week 3 in June 2014 if and only if there isnt a flooded 2ndary market already. (ebay amazon craigslist bitmit.net)

wow I read both pages on their socalled flipboard site - all I can say is womp womp!!!!!  all you silly dummies that said "group buy group buy!"  all just got fucked...spamming this elsewhere now.
1552  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 08, 2013, 10:30:42 PM
Alright, my guess?

Bitsyncom is exiting the ASIC business. There will be no Gen-2 device.

People who have been waiting on trade-ins and the like, late devices, full refunds and an apology.

People waiting on chips: 50% refund and a release date, maybe even full refunds.

Yifu exits the business gracefully as possible, trying to make everyone happy if not giddy, and be done with it.

And then off to the horse races to blow all those bitcoons on a long shot trifecta! YOLO

Oh there are gen #2 chips, trust me.

Agreed.

We should take bets on the commitments for chips - I see 15 to 1 groupbuy postings for avalon chips not BFL chips.  He has already established market leadership, even if only for the moment.  Why exit when you are on top?  That only makes sense if he can no longer deliver the chips at all because of a miscalculation of costs or leadtime.
1553  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 08, 2013, 09:47:39 PM
so you put an announcement thread that you will making an announcement tomorrow -  Should have said nothing and made the announcement instead.  We can clearly see you did that as a means for damage control or so that people would stop blowing up your cellphone/email.
1554  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: August 07, 2013, 12:24:30 PM
Will it be a preorder? (hope not Cheesy))
Or will you send the chips immediately(few days) after payment?

Yes, they are doing a pre-order. It says so on their website.

If they succeed, when they are done their chips will go to the people who pre-ordered.

The thing is that if you've been in this for a while, or have money to burn, then no biggie on a pre-order to keep up with the arms race.  Some of us are relatively new to the scene.  Take my group, for example, we've got thousands sitting in an account waiting for us to make a hardware decision, however it simply isn't worth investing at this point because there is no clear quasi-safe move.  If we were mining since 2010, had a BTC wallet as fat as a cow, and could pay for all our pre-orders with either BTC direct or by doing a small dump to an exchange, that's a different story.  But people putting fresh cash into pre-orders right now is kinda nuts.

That's true, although what sucks for people who pre-ordered from BFL is that they would probably have hoarded their coins if BFL hadn't taken them, and at the time they were worth a lot less.  If you ordered a Jalapeno you probably paid about 20-40btc. If you ordered a mini-rig that would have been maybe 3000BTC. Little chance you'll ever see that again.

On the other hand, it's pretty unlikely that the price of BTC is going to go up by 10x like it did last year around this time.

wow if I paid 3K btc and this happened and I still didn't get my unit delivered - I'd need to commit a few 'irreversible' acts in KS.  Wink
1555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switching][0%fee] multipool.us:Always mine the most profitable coin on: August 07, 2013, 09:59:22 AM
Thank you for single hand-idly destroying alt currency.  I have lost sooo much value on my portfolio because people use your pools to mine up a bunch of alt coins then they dump them onto the exchanges and cause speculations to always dwindle downward.
1556  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 06, 2013, 11:18:51 PM
It is not their responsibility to try to "resell" the item that is custom ordered and built for you.

Just like that same furniture maker shouldn't have to try to resell the custom work they did for you if you agreed to the terms knowing it could take a little longer to build than initially thought.

However none of these analogies really matter because in this case it is Customer Greed,

They see opportunity elsewhere and will try to screw anyone in their path to try to get ASIC mining equipment.

Don't give me this Holier-than-thou act either. I'm not buying it, anyone at this point that wants a refund just wants to spend their money on a different ship that they think will sail sooner.

I would disagree with you that these are custom items.

Made or done to order for a particular customer: "a custom guitar".

These are neither made to order nor for a particular customer.

And it is not our responsibility to make sure that they make a profit or continue to operate.

I would also like to add that regardless of whether terrahash wants to or not, they are obligated by law to issue timely and full refunds.

ASIC manufacture's mantra:  Don't let a silly thing like the law get in the way of my profits.

I've been wondering about this.

which coin really does have the best design?

cosmos and diamond?

hobo and bottlecaps?

is quark innovative? does it not hash with 3 different algos?

has any one coin really hit the sweet spot based purely on design?

They ALL SUCK until there is better adoption - IE I can spend them outside of an exchange somehow.

1560  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Sales] $49.99 - K1 Nanos - Big Picture Mining Cooperative on: August 06, 2013, 08:04:14 AM
People are wondering will the K1 be a viable product coming out of our fabrication by Big Picture Mining Coop. We believe we are ready for any challenges and we are doing what it is required to get working products in hand to our customers.

BPMC Inspection and testing of the K1 Nano PCB should encompass Industry Standards and best manufacturing practice.

Specifically:

Inspection:
Visual Inspection and/or Automated Optical Inspection.
The PCB shall be inspected in accordance with the requirements of IPC-A-600 PCB Inspection Guidelines to insure that a Class II product us delivered to client.

Testing:
The following tests to be performed on a mutually agreed number of sample coupons per production batch:

1. Impedance test traces
2. Access points to power and ground plane pairs
3. Checking the “stacking” of the layers

PCB Functionality Testing:
The following tests to be performed on a mutually agreed number of PCBs from first sample batch run:

1. Analog signature analysis.                                                                   (power off)
2. In-Circuit test -Power supply (Voltage).                                                 (power on)
3. Clock signal test.                                                                               (power on)
4. Programming test/ PIC functionality test                                                (power on)
5. Ktest via USB (Automated for GO - NOGO signal).                                    (power on)
6. Beta Software test (Function Specific Test using BFG &/or CGminer)           (power on)

After all above test results are found to be acceptable to client, full production line run can commence.
Client may request further samples from the production line to undergo Tests 1-6 above.

Good job - now we pay 50 dollars for a device expected to make $30 if you have it in hand today and running - still a sunk cost which means zero ROI.  What are you guys even making this for?  This is why Groupbuys for chips are a bad idea... you guys along with all the other cottage Asic Builders are waiting for Yifu to deliver the Avalon Chips - Anyone who trusted in you also indirectly trusted in Yifu too thanks for lowering the price from laughable to still laughable.
