No way, I found it in the IRC. Unless you know exactly where a link through IRC is coming from you would be a fool to click on it.

So why did you put a link from IRC on the forums then?  I fail to see the point of this whole thread.
1562  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Irc spam... on: December 09, 2011, 11:32:19 PM
I frequent IRC servers such as freenode and lately I have been getting a whole lot of random private messages from random username with stupid links inside of them. Why is this such a popular method of spam these days?

Today I got a message that looked like this.

Quote

When you click on that link, it takes you to a stupid pointless blog site called "Star Stocks" which is some Stock report blog (resolves to http://starstockhub.com/).

The details are appreciated, I personally wasn't willing to click on a link that contained possible malware. But thank you for your heroics, I am sure many members of this community will applaud your bravery.

So you're not willing to click on your own link?

Considering that the guy who posted https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=26661.0 hasn't been around since the beginning of September, the site is probably dead.
1564  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: December 09, 2011, 12:08:11 AM
Just started using BAMT (switched over from LinuxCoin) and I must say I think it's great.

Having a few problems though. After about 10 minutes of mining or so, the mining instances will just lock up. I can still use the system but when the miners never find any new shares or update their hashrates.

If I try to Ctrl+C the miners, they don't respond, or they take an exceptionally long time to do so. I've also noted that when this happens I cannot view the web interface either (I just constantly get a "Connecting") error. I had a similar problem in LinuxCoin (hence why I switched over in the first place).

Now what's puzzling me is that I've already commented out the overclock lines in the configs and checked that the cards are definitely running at STOCK clock settings (not overclocked). So does anyone know what's causing this problem? Could it be my USB pen? Or my CPU? Or one of my cards?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: This strange output from "ps x" would suggest something is wrong with atitweak... http://pastebin.com/BZG5GxNT

Also i'm using the same USB pen as I used with linuxcoin. Perhaps i've worn it out?

Downclock the cards a little and see if it's any better?

Can't believe someone could need a step by step guide for doing that,

Not everyone is good at designing and making their own things...

It was definitely way past due for a new username.
1567  Other / Meta / Re: UnSticky stinky thread, "Open Frame guide, how-to" on: December 07, 2011, 10:45:46 PM
If you made a guide for a better/cheaper open frame case, then perhaps yours could replace it.  Just saying you've made cheaper ones isn't a reason to remove it.

Updated the OP, have 4 5830s to sell.
1570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on a cell phone on: December 05, 2011, 05:35:28 AM
So I recently purchased a smart phone.  Should I be tapping into it's single core processor to get some more coins?  I'm sure it's not very cost effective, but just out of curiousity, has anyone tried this?

Is there anyone who has used a cell phone to mine one of the cpu mining chains?

If the coin can be mined using a graphics card, then mining on any regular processor is going to be a waste of money.
1571  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS 3x5830s and 1x5850 on: December 05, 2011, 03:34:56 AM
Still selling, prices updated.

Will discount for all 4 bought together.
1572  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Error loading Blkindex.dat file on Windows 8 Dev Preview on: December 02, 2011, 11:01:09 PM
Is this a new installation?

If so then try running it with the flag -datadir=(full filepath, C:\..\..\) to a different location.  That will cause it to store all of the data in the specified folder, it will generate a new wallet this way.

If you already have a wallet, just place it in the directory you specify.

Smiley

Not really much of a discussion starter.  I'd suggest elaborating on what you mean so people have a better idea of how you propose to do it.

Edited the post to fix the linking... I'd definitely suggest rooting your phone so you can make sure you don't have it.

Still looking to sell, the PSU finally sold on Amazon so it's definitely time for the cards to go.

Actually, the "censored words" functionality might be sufficient. I set up something (probably broken), and I'll do proper testing in a few hours.

It looks like it is working now... just looked at the links provided above in this post.
1578  Other / Meta / Re: Broken links everywhere - is anyone working on this? on: November 28, 2011, 10:43:53 PM
Well got that one updated, not sure how many other posts with broken links there are around (that are still relevant posts).
1579  Other / Meta / Re: Broken links everywhere - is anyone working on this? on: November 28, 2011, 09:48:04 PM
Just out of curiosity, you mind pointing to some of the broken links you're running into? (link to the posts they're in)

I don't think I've seen any for while.
1580  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Noobie, please help! on: November 27, 2011, 11:14:48 PM
Don't use your IP address in guiminer, 'localhost' should work just fine.
