And the ~$60 assembly cost? Not the parts. Keep the parts and resell them if you want. This is a huge deciding factor to those of us who want to refund but are held back by this assembly fee for something that hasn't happened.

Maybe this is information that will be in part 2 of the update?

Steamboat, any idea when the 2nd part update will come... or is the '2nd update' meaning Yifus upcoming update?

Steamboat just emailed out a Refund Form!

Thanks SB.

Heh... .0817/chip  Huh   lol

Still nothing from steamboat? He was online about an hour ago.

When the deadline passes, I think it's pitchfork time.

I'm curious as to what deadline you're referring to?

If Yifu actually delivers the huge stock of chips he is apparently getting tomorrow, the belief is that Yifu will not refund the chips because they would be shipping them... and I believe Boxman is under the impression that steamboat wants this to happen, and is avoiding facilitating the refunds to ensure he maintains his profit.

It is concerning that Steamboat hasn't responded at all... the last we have heard, he was getting no response at all from Yifu but was desperately trying to reach him, yet Yifu has communicated plenty in threads on this forum recently and to other group buy leaders, and has issued plenty of refunds, so I am not sure why there is silence from Steamboat at this point.
1565  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 03, 2013, 05:37:08 PM

If we do decide to take legal action, we will need to do so quickly, so that we can get injunctions on Steamboat's funds (including bitcoin) before he funnels it all off and files bankruptcy (which, not to be the Chicken Little here, but there's the possibility that this is already what's going on behind the scenes, while Steamboat hides away from all of us).

I still have hope that Steamboat will do what's right for the community and his reputation.    Heard from one groupbuyer who wants the case to be filed with the Florida Attorney General for fraud and prosecution, so apparently the person believes things are getting to Yifu levels.   Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail.  Apparently, it's not unprecedented that once things have been sorted out, asset seizure is not beyond their reach, even bitcoins as seen in a recent case.  As for the freezing injuction, believe it used to be called the mareva injunction and it's quite commonplace to attach business inventory of the defendant for a civil suit, but it is unknown what would be seized if the Florida AG is involved.

Steeeeaaammmbooooaaatttttt    -     wheeere arrreeee youuuuu???

In the words of Yifu - this is not good for my chi/emotional well being.

At this point, it may be time to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

In the words of the Ninja Turtles:

"Forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza asics."

I can forgive, I just can't forget... but I am happy to see Yifu attempting to make things right, and more importantly - communicating.

1567  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 02, 2013, 06:26:41 PM
I would agree to these points:

-By now, Steamboat should have provided a way for people to officially voice there opinions about whether or not they want a refund (obviously this would only be for the chips, as SB has stated so far). Random voices on this thread and the google doc are not official... but he should provide people enough time to make a decision, and should leave himself with enough time to determine how and if he needs to submit a refund request to Yifu.

-Steamboat was MUCH more active on this forum before and during collecting money. Not only was he posting here quite a bit, but was all over the forum participating.  Once the batches slowed down, he did change his activity level and even the way he was responding. Especially after LSD came - IMO he took a much less personal tone and more of a professional one... and posts slowed down/stopped across the board.  This worries me, but not enough for me to call him a scammer or even distrust him at this point. I initially chalked it up to him being busy getting everything ready, but it is my understanding they are ready now and have been for a little while... so I was hoping he would return to the SB that I first saw.  Hopefully the mafia hasn't gotten him    Cheesy

-If I have to work - all of you need to get your asses to work... National holiday my ass!  Roll Eyes    SB is NOT taking the weekend off, he is here, and he is watching... just no clue what he is thinking until he posts.

EDIT:  BTW - I am not getting anything done at work because of this stupid forum!   Cool

1568  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 02, 2013, 02:28:35 PM
Any boards produced by anyone will not ROI in BTC value. Not by a long shot.

The whole USD-now-USD-then ROI story is bullshit. You paid in BTC. You're going to end up with less BTC. Therefore you do not return your BTC investment.

I think steamboat has mixed interests in this case, as I assume he doesn't want to refund the boards he's building. If he's going to be as bold to wait until after wednesday, and let way late chips arrive, so he can build his boards and make more profit, well darn, I think I'm going to come after him with pitchforks like we did with Yifu. I have nothing to do with his assembly service. The chips won't ROI, Yifu is making refunds, all other groupbuys have already gotten their batches refunded yet steamboats is YET AGAIN sitting on his ass waiting for the best outcome for him, while the wednesday deadline is coming so close that it's going to be practically impossible to get all customers to make a stand on "refund yes/no" before then.

SebastianJu and Zefir started way back inventoring which customers wanted refunds and which wanted to keep the chips. But steamboat, oh well, just says again "hurr we'll wait some more, no refunds, soz", while he could have also just contacted all customers and ask them to take a stand, so he can get refunds on the batches while it's still possible.

But no, steamboat did nothing, and now doesn't know what customers want refunds and which ones don't, he doesn't keep us up-to-date in these pressured times and, well, frankly, with a 18 BTC investment I'm just not okay with that.

Seriously i suspect he is waiting for those early batches to ship anyway (even though >90% doesn't want them) so he can finish his assembly business and make some more profit. I hope I'm wrong, but well, if steamboat doesn't inform us about what the hell he's actually doing, we're going to start assuming.

Steamboat, request refunds for the batches you can still get a refund on, ASAP. Then make an inventory on who wants a refund.

Did you actually READ the August 29th update?? There is NO communication from Yifu. Steamboat has tried calling, PM'ing, e-mailing. Nothing.

We all took a risk. Please stop spreading FUD on the forums and stop panicking. Just because other batches got refunds does not mean anything.

This isn't a playground. Just because somebody else got some ice cream does not mean you will get any ice cream.

You took a risk, like everybody else, and now the risk/rewards ratio has changed. You don't have to like it. In fact, I don't like it either. But posting drivel like the above is not going to change anything.

A few more good reads... read the posts after August 29th by Yifu himself:

For the record, I emailed SB 3 days ago regarding refunding a batch 5 order that I sold to someone else.  I am keeping my batch 2 order for myself, primarily because of the inability to get back any assembly costs (based on SB's last post).  I have not yet gotten a response, but I am sure SB is aware of everything going on.

Ok but he has said many times that he will not be escrowing any groupbuy purchases between owners. You would need to receive them and pass them to your client (or maybe ship them to the assembler where your client wants them to be shipped)
Well, he stated that he will not escrow such transfer and not that address change is not allowed. Beside if you ordered assambly there are billing and shipping addreses what can be edited and changed. What if somebody moves?

quote for terms in chip sales:

Terms

◦Full payment including all USD based fees is required prior to shipment to final destination.

◦Address signing is required for dispute settlement.

◦All sample chips will be given to open source hardware developers to facilitate production.

◦We assume no responsibility for any issues that may arise due to circumstances outside our control, including but not limited to Avalon failing to ship, shipment being seized by customs, shipment arriving late, etc.

◦All chips purchased are sold AS IS, with no warranty of any kind.

You may choose to change your address a maximum of two times.

◦In order to change your shipping address you must sign the change order with the purchase address.

Because I had 2 orders under the same account both with full assmebly, I couldn't really hand over the account or change shipping information. I had already worked out something with the buyer, and had intended to re-ship them to him immediately after receiving - but he wants the refund at this point (can't say I blame him!)... and I am treating my batch 5 order as if it was his, so its his decision.

Yifu: exactly how are you going to compensate chip orders that are after June 1st seeing how they are already very late based on the NO BS terms of sale?

+1

June 1st is now exactly 13 weeks in the past.

form says 15th, typo in the newsletter. I think half a week late is pretty good, if chips arrives on wednesday and we send them out no? if they do not arrive we'll work out something else.

Are there any chances that those chips will not arrive and will not be sent out on Wednesday?... what percentage of a chance would you give it?  70% chance it will happen?     Sorry for all of the questions!

EDIT: And do you have anything else in mind when you say you'll work something out if they do not arrive?  have you planned for this, just in case they do not?
1573  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 31, 2013, 08:42:19 PM
I don't believe for a second that this poorly made 'newsletter' is real.

It didn't come to us, and we have a group buy as well as an account on the Bitsyncom ticket system, so who was it sent to?
Just a couple of friends?

Why it's not on the Avalon Asics website, and instead it's on some f****ng Google Docs?
No message from Bitsyncom user here on the forum about it.

The form only asks for the order number and a Bitcoin address to refund to.
No user verification whatsoever.
I know many order numbers... what if I make a refund request for all of them with my Bitcoin accounts?
I get a load of coins, and only our chips and a couple of other orders will actually be delivered.
Rrright...

This is so fake until proven otherwise.

I also received this email... the same way other newsletter/email updates have come from Avalon, I did not place a direct order with Avalon but had signed up for the newsletter/updates at some point a while back.

In addition, the 'header' of the email matches the others... so it seems legitimate to me.

Now lets see if Yifu actually issues any of those refunds, this is starting to sound like nefario to me.

He hasn't refunded Batch 3 customers yet, what makes anyone think he'll honour chips refunds?

?? I'm pretty sure batch 3 customers got their refunds.

I am a batch #3 customer who has not received their refund yet. Order #5105.

I'll help Yifu out with his communications:

"Huh, what refunds?   they weren't processed?   The BTC has now been sent!"

**2 weeks later, after every thread here erupts with 'still no BTC received'**

"BTC was sent... the chinese mafia somehow intercepted it, after I contacted investigators a bomb blew up my car, I am now under protective services and have to take the next flight to an undisclosed location to protect myself and my family"

Yifu - Karma is a bitch.

EDIT:   Sorry for the harshness - obviously frustrated, and it disgusts me seeing these types of responses from Yifu.

He speaks:

And is going to now make a 'refund form'...
1579  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 28, 2013, 10:44:48 PM
I am tired of this toxic community malformed by greed.

Man, you've got quite some nerve for posting this. A full refund will not solve the issue. Please explain the 1+ million chips delivery that showed up in pictures from June? So, where did they end up?

batch 3? the amount was never 1+ million chips. if one 1+ million chips did show up in june, none of this would be happening and difficulty would NOT be this low, do some math.

also people seem to not make the connect to sudden raise of difficulty to us shipping batch 3 and bitfury's http://ghash.io pool coming online...

brb making refund form, I'm done with this.

So how long will it take to process those 'refunds' on this refund form?...
