Looking for a low profile gigabit network adapter
1583  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Intel Atom based mini pc on: November 08, 2012, 05:56:53 PM
I'm looking for an Intel Atom based mini pc to run my BFL singles and upcoming ASICs. Preferably something that runs on less than 50 watts idle.
1584  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Raspberry Pi alternatives that can run multiple BFL singles, ASICs ? on: November 08, 2012, 05:43:19 AM
Since the Raspberry Pi's USB issues prevent it from running even one single reliably, are there any alternatives around 60-85 dollars that people are using for mining? The Mele A1000 and MK802 look promising but I'd like to know if anyone is using them before I purchase and give it a try.

If the quest is hopeless I may just spring for a book sized atom based machine like this one:

1585  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Raspberry pi usb device limitation? on: November 08, 2012, 05:20:53 AM
Well, that was disappointing. Seemed promising but with 1 BFL Single, the Pi crapped out after a few hours.

Perhaps a problem with the cgminer version?
Is there a stable version that supports the BFL Single?

I haven't had time to research it but I'm sure it has something to do with the USB COM issues plaguing the Pi. I was actually very hopeful as it was running perfectly for 3 hours, then it just shut off.

I respect SysRun but here are the facts:
- The Chinese pumpkin farming industry has quadrupled while SysRun's video has been online
- SysRun openly supports gay pumpkin marriage, which is a direct assault on our nation's values
- SysRun's original carving was of communist Che Guevara. It was scrapped when his campaign determined it didn't poll well.

something minimal like splitting 50% of first months profit when you get to keep the rest of the BTC that thing makes for the rest its lifetime and can even sell it for more $ at some point or trade it in for the next generation...

I'm seeking a campaign manager to head my get out the vote effort. If I win, I will gladly give 50% of the first month's profit to my manager, and the other 50% to those who voted. Spread the wealth.

lol, crazyblane, you're crazy. How is that powered usb hub holding up?
Haha, not looking great for me, currently standing at 1 vote. Wonder where that one came from??  I'm still steaming about how we changed the drawing rules for week 5, robbing me of the little single win. Oh well. Powered usb is working great but I'm really disappointed my RPi that came in can't even handle 1 single for more than 3 hours.

So here's my shot at negative campaigning:

It's well known that SysRun is purchasing cheaply grown Chinese pumpkins. They are hand planted, picked and pre-carved by underage workers.

So my 512mb Pi came in yesterday. I set it up today and I've been mining with 1 BFL single for the past hour with no issue. I'm going to let it go a little longer then throw 8 more at it.

- CGIMiner 2.9.1 Stratum mining on Slush
Mem allocation:
-16mb GPU
-498mb RAM
Ethernet
No display out
No Keyboard
No Mouse

I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

What's the significance of the modifcation(s) you did?  (like, why did you do it, and does it change the way the riser works)

The 2 risers on the rigt were originally 1x-1x risers. By cutting off the edge, they are effectively 1x-16x risers.

I must be dense, so forgive my ignorance.

Are you saying that a 1x to 1x riser, can be modified to accept/fit onto a GPU's x16 "foot"?  How can it stay in place?

I can see that a 1x to 16x riser ribbon only has a "few" wires in it, whereas a 16x to 16x riser ribbon has a whole lot more wires in it.  For mining, we don't need but just the 1x portion of the signals, right?

Also, can a 1x to 1x riser "foot" fit into a 16x slot?  So can a 1 to 16 fit on a 16 slot and become a 16 to 16 (with only 1x wires)?

Anyhoo, I am in the market for some risers.  My motherboard will have 5 PCIe_x16 and 1 PCIe_x1.  I already have:

(2) x16 to x16 risers
(2) x1   to x16 risers (like the two in the middle in your photo) [will only need one of these]

I need 3 more risers, which of the those you have for sale, do you recommend me buying off of you?

The m/b has 5 x16 slots, so I need to be able to plug into them.

1x riser can be modified to accept a x16 foot by slitting the edge so the rest of the foot can pass through. There is a gap between the power and data lines which helps to hold the card in. 1x card might not always work in a 16x slot. It will fit, but working depends on if the MB 16x slots are 1x compatible.

The 4 risers on the left are 1x to 16x. 2 on the right are modified

Sounds like you need to notify them, they are saying all existing orders have shipped.

Seems like you could buy one and get it shipped right away. Anyone selling used should not expect full price.

Perhaps you are overclocking your cards too much? Try bringing them down to stock speeds for the next few weeks.
