ebay price is a good way to judge how bad things are.

I listed two s19 xps

best prices on ebay

and a return policy

and no one wants them

A sure indicator of a troubled retail market.

https://www.ebay.com/str/philipma1957computergearandmore

no one has a better deal than that and they just sit.

Well, it looks like you've already managed to sell what you put on eBay.
I visited your page and it is empty. But I found it very interesting that you have already sold more than 1.4 articles. He really is an ebay expert.

no one purchased either s19 xp

they are the lowest prices one on eBay and have a two week return policy which no one else offers.

not sold

https://www.ebay.com/itm/166744841411?

Make and model of miner be damned - 1st question you have to deal with is: What does your electricity cost? If it is more than 5 or 6 cents per kWh then forget it.

yeah if you are not say 7 cents or lower do not mine.

bitmain t21
bitmain s21

and

bitmain L7

you also need  1 phase 220/240 power

you could do around 14 pieces of gear for 50k

but that is close to 52kwatts of power  an hour or 38,000 kwatts a month

at 7 cents a 2660 power bill
at 6 cents a 2280 power bill
at 5 cents a 1900 power bill

if you are 11 t21s they make 3200 usd a month pre power
you would have 3 L7's they would make 1822 a month pre power

so 5000 income against the power numbers above.

if I have reliable power deal that supports that much gear I would still mine

So, did I finally get some bits of a prediction right?
Seems miners are far more resilient than one thought:
before the halving, the adjustment was to 86.39 T
immediately after the halving we still got positive, 88.10 T
current estimates are at 85,0X T
this would make the drop slightly above 2% from the before halving one, and with income dropping (according to charts) to 4.37 cents per th/s, I'm starting to believe that I

You may end up being right, but it's too early to judge, I did mention in my "before the halving post"

Quote
Let's look at the 2020 halving

Price= 10k (50% down from ATH)
total difficulty drop = - 45.6%  (from 25 to 13.6) this took from 11th May to 16 July,  or let's say 2 months or an average of 4 epochs.

When we climbed again to ATH in mid-November, difficulty climbed back to 21.7T, which is a 13% decrease, I would imagine the lowest difficulty drop we can ever get would be a 13% if the halving happens while BTC price is 70k, any lower than that would contribute to more drop in hashrate.

We would need to wait for 4 epochs to be certain of the halving effect, and as for this halving, we may have to wait for a bit longer because transaction fees during and after the halving changed everything and made mining more profitable than before the halving, it makes no sense for us not to drop that 13% or even more, I still think we will do just that in 4 epochs when the chicken game is over, as for the numbers phill laid out above, they are correct but they don't take into account any other expenses, those large miners can't survive with a few cents profit post power bill, their expences are far greater than just that, they would get to the point where they have to liquidate just to pay interest.

Also, most importantly, Phill I pray for your fast recovery, get well soon my friend.

Thank you it is healing on schedule.

No more bleeding even if I sneeze.

I see the Doctor for follow. Up in 8 days.

we have a decent drop. many are selling gear on ebay at low prices

164  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: May 07, 2024, 12:31:49 PM
I think we have 33-35 from 2021 left.  most are in the bottom 50 under 63k

50 to 100 have 27 from 2021

since 50 is 64.5k it will take a minimum of 51 days to reach that.

and number 26 is 67.4k    so 74 days to purge all of 2021.

Maybe sometime in the fall.

Hey Phillip!
Any updates on this project? I have some T21's and some S19 PSU's. I'm thinking about trying this out. Frankenminer FTW!
Altair makes a cover for the power bars for this conversion. Not sure if they sell it seperate or only in their conversion kit.

Runs great so far.

I used black duct tape to cover the open buss  bars.

I am getting two more t21 s maybe I will ask Altair tech to ship a cover for them. I will need some more parts.

Get the epic controller and use firmware 42 or 44

I have run it 60th to 195th zero issues.

And on colder days it can do 17.8 watts a th at 160-190 settings.

Heat can make you do 17.8 to 21 watts
166  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin advertisements are a bit outdated on: May 07, 2024, 12:04:33 AM
I used to say "1 BTC = 1 BTC", until I realized that's like saying "1 USD = 1 USD", and it's not true. That's why USD-prices are usually related to a year: a dollar in 1960 was worth a lot more than a dollar now. And a Bitcoin in 2010 was worth a lot less than a Bitcoin now.

I beg to differ, please...

1 BTC = 1 BTC is indeed a true statement, but 1 USD ≠ 1 USD in terms of value.

Reason No. 1: Firstly, we know the total supply of BTC is fixed at 21,000,000 (regardless of the circulating supply). This ensures the statement will always hold true—today, tomorrow, or even after 2140, when all bitcoins have been mined.

Reason No. 2: The statement "1 BTC = 1 BTC" emphasizes Bitcoin as a standalone entity, completely untethered from traditional financial systems.

Reason No. 3: "1 USD = 1 USD" does not carry the same philosophical weight because its supply is unlimited. The Federal Reserve can decide to increase the money supply whenever they wish. While numerically correct, "1 USD = 1 USD" fails to hold true in terms of value.

Well the dollar has infinite inflation potential .
Btc is fixed and has zero inflation.

So I can see your point for inflation.

But for purchase power btc is not flat. So LoyceV has a point.

Maybe we need a different solgan.

~Snip
The entire market will depend on bitcoin, if bitcoin increases in price then the rest of the market will increase in price. But you need to know one thing that bitcoin has become quite big and its profits for investors are gradually getting smaller. Meanwhile, many altcoins will be able to bring profits many times greater than bitcoin, and ETH is also one of them. That's why many investors are increasingly choosing altcoins instead of bitcoin, and high profits come with high risks. Investing in altcoins can bring huge profits but will also expose us to more risks. So choosing to invest in bitcoin or altcoin will depend on the amount of capital they have and the goals they want to achieve.
I admit that what you say may be true, but so far expecting ETH to hit its new ATH again is a gamble when Bitcoin already hit it two months ago. The price of ETH will move up and try to hit a new ATH if bitcoin consistently rises during the bullish season. But if instead the price of bitcoin is stuck below $100k for a long time, then the price of ETH will likely find it difficult to hit its new ATH again.

However, this does not mean that expecting ETH to provide returns is wrong, especially when investors have accumulated it from 2022 until now. ETH may not be the best performing altcoin compared to others, but investors have also earned returns from it.

Frankly eth has seen its peak. It is not the best one to hold.

Just messing around a bit, might delete later.
Here 2024 is red.  2021 is black.  It seems everyone is ahead of US in terms of pushing off the greens.  Go Ukraine Go!

I am sorry to be a killjoy.  But think of how hard its been for me. I love electronics i Have to rely on the the wife to build and repair any complex circuits. Hey honey is this blue or purple. Is this red or green.

I need to watch when I wire stuff up or magic smoke.

If I drive a carmon a road I do not know and I see a flashing light. I can tell if it is red or orange.

This is common in back country roads. flashing red means stop flashing orange means yield.

Since I can’t tell them apart I treat all of them as flashing red and stop and look both ways.

Every once in a while a guy behind me will start blowing his horn I then know it must have been yellow and it was a yield.

If I get a really big sample of red and it is say fire engine red I will
know it is red.

but in mixed print the red and green look very much the same to me.

Hi,
I'm trying to hit the Bitcoin lottery with my gaming computer. I'll see where it goes. When I put in the command line;
appdata\roaming\bitcoin\bitcoin.conf
the computer merely opens the conf file and not the Bitcoin wallet. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you for the help

hmm use a 1000 usd plus gaming machine
burn 400 plus watts.

or buy a 165 dollar specialty miner. that burns 140 watts.

so burn 400 plus vs 140

and get .003th of hash vs  4th. about 130 times the hash power for the nano 3

to put it another way the nano 3 should take about 3000 years to hit a block

and your gpu should take 3,914,000 years to hit a block

odds are here

https://solochance.org/.    a gpu at best will do 3gh

a nano 3 will do  4th

so it is 1300 x 1 more likely to get a block with the nano 3

you can buy one below

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/avalon-nano-3-blockchain-smart-home/x/36810011#/

here is one on ebay

https://www.ebay.com/itm/145705867477?

please note I do not know the seller.

the nano 3 is 2x faster than the bitaxe

at the moment the nano 3 crushes all low priced weak asic miners.

and all of the weak asic miners absolutely Destroy pc mining.

the nano 3 should take 3000 years to hit a block cost with psu is 200
the bitaxe should be     5800 years to hit a block
the Apollo ii should be 1500 years to hit a block but it costs 700 to 2000 usd
sidehack's r909 should be 6200 years to hit a block cost is 400 usd

red and green is a killer for me due to color blindness.

red and blue works

red and black works.

173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Running out of Memory RAM with API /rest/block/<BLOCK-HASH>.json on: May 05, 2024, 11:22:14 PM
Hello,

I'm encountering a persistent issue with memory RAM exhaustion while running Bitcoin Core on my system.
Here's a brief overview of the problem:

Problem Description:

I have a Bitcoin Core node set up on my system, and I query it every minute using an python script consulting for new blocks.

Using the API /rest/block/<BLOCK-HASH>.json the response is almost immediate but the memory of the daemon process for each block query increases a lot! and there is no release of this memory afterwards.

To solve this problem I must close bitcoin core and reopen it from time to time

But if I use the API /rest/block/notxdetails/<BLOCK-HASH>.json and process the json response and query each tx my memory remains always the same but is very slow.

Is there any solution to this problem?
Thanks!

How much memory do you have?

Can you add more ram if you are lite?

Also can you try a 5 minute query vs a 1 minute  query?

I post like mad been doing it long before AI became an issue.

I want to a thread attempting to write as if I am an AI.

Mostly out of intellectual curiosity .

Has any one made a thread with well known posters trying to write like AI.

I have personally checked over 1000 of my posts and none register as ai.

My interest has a few points. Should a guy copy every post made by me and feed it into An ai generator that attempts to write like I

do?

If you did do that would my new posts look ai?

Any and all copious long term posters could be knocked off.

My wife asked me to see the new mummy trailer and the new pirates of the carrabian trailer on YouTube. BOTH were ai fakes.

So we pushed out  2024 number for spot 100.

but today number 100 is a 2021 date . It really looks as if  it gets pushed out. We land near 60-70 with todays number.
176  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will this stack make me a USD millionaire? on: May 05, 2024, 07:56:33 PM
I don't feel like 2025 is the year for bitcoin and that you'd be able to hit that million by that year with just 7 bitcoins, I'd say that it will be around 2030 or higher before you can hit that number, maybe you also need to focus on other things too, there's the fact that you can have that USD if it's enough to try and get yourself to move to a country that has a really favorable exchange rate with USD like the tropical countries in Asia, South America or maybe even in some Caribbean countries, find other ways to make money not just your work to increase your bitcoin investment and you can easily reach millions in USD if you do that.
I agree with you it's very unlikely to happen, because Bitcoin and Ethereum are already very high and close to their ATH, especially BTC. So those assets are more likely to go down now than to go higher. There is no FOMO events scheduled in the coming months anymore, ETFs have been approved and halving has now passed. I see above one guy (OgNasty) telling "odds of it happening in 2025 are still probably better than not that it will happen" I would be curious to know how he came to that conclusion. Because it means that he thinks odds for this outcome to happen, are higher than 50%, that is to say less than 2.0 in decimal odds. That would be crazy if it was realistic.

7 btc at 143k is 1,001,000

70 eth converted to gold would mean about. 220,000 usd in gold.

I would think 7 btc and 100 oz of gold would be a better hold and very likely get to 1,000,000 by dec 2025

On 4 wire fun I connect red and black, fan is working in very low speed

Well you may have a slower fan. Those little fans on that psu can do 8 or 9k rpm.

Your replacement may only do 5k

I will link a fan for you.

https://altairtech.io/product/apw-psu-60mm-replacement-fan/

The one above may be too slow

https://vmssecuritycloud.com/product/antminer-nidec-power-supply-replacement-fan/

See if you have 40 or 60 mm size

Give the exact make and model of the four pin fan

I will look it up

179  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2024 Diff thread happy New Years. on: May 05, 2024, 05:07:47 PM
So, did I finally get some bits of a prediction right?
Seems miners are far more resilient than one thought:
before the halving, the adjustment was to 86.39 T
immediately after the halving we still got positive, 88.10 T
current estimates are at 85,0X T
this would make the drop slightly above 2% from the before halving one, and with income dropping (according to charts) to 4.37 cents per th/s, I'm starting to believe that I was right with some large miners being trapped into this game and ramping up operation because stopping would bankrupt them instantly so they are betting everything on the future prices.

Of course, speculation on how much new and more efficient gear is already in place, but I would be surprised to hear more than 1/3 is below 0.02j/Gh.

Luckily for some miners, there are still runes being minted.

I am still recovering from my surgery and have not tried building it.

Hope you're getting better by the day Phil!

The sinus repair seems healed. MOST pain now is in the cut straighted and reattached septum. Maybe 7-10 days and that will stop.

As for mining and miners. We will not see a big turn down say 70t vs 85t.

A 100 th unit makes 4.40 usd a day.
It burns 75 k-watts

At 6 cents it is 4.50 a tiny loss or break even.

AT 5 cents it is 3.75 a small profit.

But if 50% of your 6 cent farm is t21 or s21 and the other 50% is s19 100th.

You get 8.80 for the s21 and burn 85 k-watts
You get 4.40 for the s19 and burn 75 k-watts

So 13.20 earned and 9.60 burned at six cents gives me 3.60 profit for mining 1 s21 and 1 s19j pro 100 th

Also the s19jpro with brains can tweak down to maybe 27 watts a th.

So I think a lot of farms are mixed with s19 pro j 100th and s21 they can mine on with out knocking off the s19
