1601  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: hardware error on: March 12, 2023, 08:35:55 AM
unfortunately, this is a new project that has been employed only once by an Iranian company and I cannot ask them since they will not be trying to solve my issue. this OS has 8 hashboards
But you have access to these devices, right? If not, how did you run the mining software? Remotely? I don't think you need permission or help from them to dump the log files unless it was gated in one way or another. Or do you mean the log files are customed for their needs so nobody other than them can understand the files?
1602  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Technology to aid bitcoin mining on: March 12, 2023, 08:23:43 AM
Also bitcoin is considered a commodity, moving from PoW to PoS would make bitcoin a security. So for bitcoin to move from PoW to PoS, it won't maintain its natural state of being a commodity.
So this is the reason Vitalik Buterin innovation on bitcoin was not accepted?
AFAIK using PoS does not mean the coin/token is a security, but it makes it easier to centralize it and that definitely does not sound like what Bitcoin was meant to be. I'm not sure what innovation on Bitcoin you're referring to here other than switching to PoS, since Vitalik does not contribute to Bitcoin development iirc. CMIIW.

I don't know if there will be a cheaper source of electricity in the nearest future which might enhance mining activities, but presently there it is no cheap electricity, which is the major challenge to miners.
A better wording is probably not every miner has access to cheap electricity. Some miners do have one, and some build one if my understanding is correct based on reading on this sub, but most are constrained by location, devices to generate it, etc. That being said, as mentioned above, even if it becomes cheaper and easier to find electricity, the market will likely adapt and change the equilibrium between difficulty and profit. So basically, the condition won't change much.
1603  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Japanese banks to launch, test stablecoins on ‘Japan Open Chain’ on: March 12, 2023, 07:52:57 AM
I mean why made new chain when you can find a dozen of it in crypto but if the chain is public is a progress. and this different from their CBDC right?
A quick Google translate shows that this is their own version of CBDC[1], that's how I understand it. I mean, the assumed use case of the pilot project and probably future implementation of this digital Yen are including but are not limited to:
- Payment networks for individuals and businesses like SWIFT network
- Any online payment that charges fiat from your credit card
- Digital stable coins issuance
- etc.

At the very least, this pilot might serve as a basis for the central CBDC. I can't imagine how troublesome it would be if they have many chains with different kinds of digital coins being issued by different parties. Unless they can converse one token to another in an instant or build a proper bridge that has good security, the risk of hacking and so on is too high IMO. Building a private chain is understandable to avoid unnecessary exposure, let's see how they handle international transfer though. I doubt other governments would agree to store their yen reserve on a chain owned by a single entity.

1604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MYSTERIOUS BINANCE WALLET on: March 12, 2023, 07:40:38 AM
You're jumping from one conclusion to another without any solid basis. Why would a wallet that has transferred many bitcoin mean that CZ or whoever owns that wallet is satoshi? Not to mention the age of that wallet is not that old, and the number of people or groups who have the ability to transfer that many are not limited to Binance/CZ either.

how it could be the heaviest transaction all time than other wallet..still can't figure it out...total in and out with spectacular transaction.
Check out other exchange addresses and you'll see more or less similar behavior. The number of BTC might be lower of course, but that doesn't really matter considering the number of Binance users is likely higher too. Unless you find an address that has solid transaction history to old satoshi addresses, it won't be enough to convince people that the address is owned by satoshi, especially if it is owned by an exchange.
1605  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you tell me which one you will choose and why? on: March 11, 2023, 02:54:19 PM
Same, my Bank is located in my city, I can get down to the location and make complaints, they take responsibility for the loss of funds, if the fault is from their side,  they can't exit and vanish, Binance could easily blame hackers for loss of fund and escape with the whole mess,
I just remember there was a bank in my country that collapsed and the money their customers' store was never returned, or at the very least still in process, unless I remembered it correctly. I guess it also depends on where you live and how strict your government is regarding banks' security. At the very least, most public banks (the majority of the shares are held by the government) have the ability to get funding support just in case something went south, CMIIW.

Personally, I don't trust anyone, but it is not practical to hoard fiat in my house either. Luckily I can store crypto just fine with proper setup. I think most experienced crypto users in my country would do the same thing unless they are day trading. After the FTX fiasco and probably more in the future, I can see many users withdrawing their assets and storing them offline.
1606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Intel Tapes Out Chips on 1.8nm and 2nm Production Nodes on: March 11, 2023, 02:33:38 PM
Intel has been missing a lot of deadlines lately, don't they? IIRC, their latest server & supercomputer process is delayed, or changed from H12024 to H22024. I won't be surprised if we will see the first 2nm product in 2025 or later. Leakers that I follow on Twitter also share more or less the same sentiment, that their GPU & CPU products are likely going to arrive later than expected.

Even if they arrive soon, is there any profitable mineable coin other than Monero?
1607  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: TP-Link ASIC is not TP-Link on: March 11, 2023, 01:32:12 PM
I knew I had seen this router model somewhere, and I found it in a news article I saw this week, by accident
Looks like TP-Link already clarified that this is in fact not their product[1]. IMO, Tom's Hardware clickbait title is the one that gives them traffic. Makes me wonder why when in the article they already stated that it is likely a scam even before TP-Link respond to their queries. Why they have to make news about this is also questionable to me, it's not like they run out of news since GPU/computer market is really 'interesting' this year.

Edit: Apparently this is nothing new for TP-Link.
Is TP-Link that popular? Kinda weird seeing a dedicated faq for something like this. In my region, they are budget products at best, most users would look for ASUS or something similar if they want good/great routers.

1608  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [SECURITY> Activate this to secure your wallets (Android) on: March 11, 2023, 01:19:46 PM
I personally use Adguard on one of my phones. The app is useful to see network requests so you can block addresses/IPs and so on. It also supports a lot of ad/host filters, so you can manually choose which one is the best for you. That being said, they claim that their DNS has no logs policy, but it is unclear how exactly they achieve that. I wouldn't trust them that much if privacy is your concern. Sometimes the request processing speed is also slow, not really the best for browsing many websites IMO. For example, using Adguard DNS changed my response time from 100 ms to 1800 ms in one of my browsing sessions. If that happens to you consider using other DNS providers.

If you can't use Mullvad then try to look for alternatives DNSscrypt alternatives such as this one[1]. Keep in mind DNS encryption doesn't really change your IP address, it just helps you access ISP-blocked websites and ads. CMIIW. It also doesn't help you filter phishing websites unless it is widely known beforehand, so keep your awareness and don't download/click from random links.

1609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Problems with NEO App (Ledger Nano X) on: March 11, 2023, 01:09:46 PM
So basically you have to enable developer mode to show & install the app? Or are there additional steps that you need to do before installing the app? Kinda weird they don't explain this in the official guide. Since migration is necessary for NEO holders I don't know why it needs to be gated behind a developer mode either, CMIIW. Glad to see you work it out OP.
1610  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Technology to aid bitcoin mining on: March 10, 2023, 08:09:28 AM
It is definitely possible, just like any technological advancement. For example, better ASIC manufacturing processes, better energy generators, etc. When will it happen, and whether it is costly or not, should be the next question.

If you take a look at the GPU market for example, the product does get better with advanced manufacturing processes (from 14nm to 7nm/5nm), but the cost to buy one is arguably increasing compared to older cards. The same will happen with ASIC or other mining devices, but probably won't be as fast.

At the end of the day, when that day comes, I believe the hash rate will increase again. Eventually, we will reach another equilibrium as usual. Don't expect new miners to get profit easily with just some ASICs just because it is cheaper to run. CMIIW.

1612  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Im looking for to build up team and group crypto bankers and financial team on: March 08, 2023, 12:14:52 PM
You sound like a cult leader tbh. What exactly are you offering here? A pump and dump group? An insider trading group? A group that helps exchanges manipulate their trading activity? Crypto bankers and financial teams are so ambiguous you might as well call them crypto scammers.

You mention margin call, but do you actually understand it? What do you mean by that? Why would anyone deposit money to you when you have no background, no company in the business, and no profile at all? At best, you'd just attract another scammer to participate in your activity. Hopefully no one is dumb enough to give money and allow some random dude on the internet manage their trading activities.
1613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ERC20 Watch Only Address ? on: March 08, 2023, 10:11:08 AM
Scenario:
I'm making a payment using my Watch Only Address.
Extract the transaction and add it to my 2nd computer to sign the transaction.
After that I add the signed transaction back to the 1st computer and the payment goes out.

The whole thing works wonderfully with Electrum but unfortunately only for Bitcoin.
That's why I'm now looking for a wallet with which exactly the same can be achieved to secure my USDC / USDT in the same way.
So basically you're looking to set up offline transactions signing capability with Ethereum. There are several options if you look around the internet, some of them are:
- https://support.mycrypto.com/how-to/sending/how-to-make-an-offline-transaction/
- https://help.myetherwallet.com/en/articles/6512619-using-mew-offline-current-mew-version-6 (already mentioned above)

There is also Parity Signer for Polkadot but it is out of date and has a lot of issues according to recent reviews on Play Store. Most of these are developed for mobile devices so if you want to exclusively use your computers, I guess you need to run an emulator to do it. If that's a no-go for you, then you can use your phone for the online device while you run an emulator on your computer. Use the Android Studio app to run the app if you don't want to risk using a third-party emulator that is mainly developed for gaming such as Bluestack, etc. If that is still not good enough for you, I guess you're limited to MEW, AirGap, or MyCrypto for offline signing.

Don't forget to do your own research. I personally use MEW and MyCrypto in the past but have no experience with the other two I linked above.
1614  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Their Involvement in dex projects valid or invalid on: March 08, 2023, 09:48:48 AM
If Yes, is it right to bring in venture capital into a decentralized crypto project? Wouldn't this make the name 'decentralized' of a project invalid?
Most of the time they use "decentralized" to refer to the non-custodial part of the project. For example, a "decentralized" exchange that does not hold any funds but just facilitates transfer between two wallets directly, launching a pool where users can deposit their tokens to gain interest that does not need a UI to manage it, etc. So, don't be misled by the term. Many projects use the same thing to refer to different things. Heck, I think I made a post just last week about this. I found one project who uses "decentralized" to describe their server locations, while their products are mostly centralized (need to deposit to their wallet, need to KYC, etc).

I don't know how VC or private entities make deals with start-ups, but as far as I know, most of these deals are only about getting tokens very early in a large amount so they can dump on retail investors later down the line. At the very least, they don't openly admit that their decision-making in key areas such as token unlock, exchange listing, change in protocol, etc need permission from their early investors. That being said, you should assume the worst-case scenario and stay away from projects like that for the long term.
1615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Problems with NEO App (Ledger Nano X) on: March 08, 2023, 09:26:34 AM
So you can't find Neo N3 and NEO app? Or is it the latter? If I understood the explanation correctly, the old app is no longer supported and you need to use the N3 one. If you still can't find it, probably contact their support for further help. I've never seen anything like this assuming everything is updated etc. I don't think it is an internet problem either, I could be wrong though. CMIIW.
1616  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] [banned mixer] | Best Bitcoin Mixer | Low fees | Fully automated on: March 08, 2023, 09:13:50 AM
Is there another DNS attack on the clearnet recently? I tried to access the website but it shows DNS not found/DNS error. Tried it several times, sometimes it succeed and sometimes it doesn't. I'm pretty sure it is not my internet problem since I use DNS encryption and VPN that doesn't block the Yomix clearnet address.
1617  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin node Hardware Marketplace on: March 07, 2023, 10:43:13 AM
These products were just test products to see if vendor part worked. They weren't meant to be real.
If that's the case, making it clear for the visitor would be better. If you don't do that they'd just assume that your price is way too high compared to other marketplaces. At least the product name helps for now, but adding more info would be better imo.

Also, when will your company/website start its business? If this testing phase lasts long, why not do a review campaign? That should give enough incentive for people to try your marketplace. Right now, I see no reason to register because the website itself is not ready. You can start more marketing after you do that.
1618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin is lost in a wallet can it ever be recovered on: March 07, 2023, 10:30:43 AM
if the address as been long (like 2010, 2011 or 2012) such address could easily be hacked because it likely an Hot wallet and security was not that strait
I believe we saw more hacks from phishing compared to private key brute forcing. Unless you're talking about brain wallet, which has been abandoned/discouraged from long ago. Also, why did you assume the security is not that good in the past? Did you assume we improve the way we generate private keys/seeds or something? Even if that is true unless the hacker obtains an unencrypted wallet file, he still needs a lot of time cracking them and it is probably not worth their time. Sending fake e-mails are more cost-effective for them afaik.
1619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you could design Bitcoin from scratch today... on: March 07, 2023, 07:47:30 AM
I never thought of a design but maybe there are features I really would love to see some amendments on for instance is the area with gas fee, gosh I don't know if anyone also complains about the gas fee of Bitcoin because most times I feel very reluctant when having to send out Bitcoin because of its fees and I think since it's pegged to dollar, it is more on other non dollar countries like mine when having to convert the gas fee rate to my local currency and it breaks my heart.
I don't think fees are pegged to dollars. You pay with sats, and you can manually select the rate of the fee you're choosing to send your transaction. I've never seen a clogged blocks that requires you to pay more than $50 to make $ a transaction. What wallet are you using right now? You might want to switch if it always sends overpaid transactions.

And just as @davis196 said and truly I don't know how possible this could be but it be great having a feature or way of getting to recover once coins just incase there is no access to the seed phrase .
I don't really see how it will work though, as mentioned above. And who can guarantee that somebody else would steal your keys in one way or the other?
1620  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Pakistan Banks to Use blockchain for KYC on: March 07, 2023, 07:34:38 AM
They describe their network as "decentralized and self-regulated", I guess they will use permissioned blockchain or just a shared database in general. Makes me wonder how efficient it is compared to whatever they have right now. Don't really think it will change anything other than making their database sound cooler.

From the way they describe things, I think the point of this kinda new database is to offload some cost to store data to other parties and allows banks to gain easier access to customer data. Well, at the very least they don't introduce new tokens just for that.
