1101  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are the analogues of the site BestChange? on: June 15, 2023, 03:11:09 AM
From your post history, it sounds like you're trying to build a website similar to BestChange, hence why you're looking for similar websites for your market research. If this is indeed your purpose, I suggest you make a new thread where you ask people what kind of feature they'd like to see from an aggregator website. I do believe it is more efficient compared to doing your own research, it also reduces the bias from your POV  to some extent IMO.

Your review campaign is also nice, but there is no harm to share your current product so that others can review it freely. Some people do provide feedback even if you don't pay them.
1102  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Post your local news outlet, exchange, marketplace that support Bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 01:01:39 AM
The real measure and people's acceptance of bitcoin as a currency in buying and selling commodities is to consider it an acceptable financial intermediary where you can buy several things in your country without the need to convert bitcoin to cash or there is an option to pay in bitcoin.
My country doesn't allow crypto as a means of payment, but people do love trading cryptocurrency. I won't be surprised if some of us do pay with crypto for services like game currency top-ups or something similar. Personally, I don't think it will change soon but it is good enough for me. There are dozens of exchanges and events about crypto, which is quite healthy. There was an event started by the government just a few months ago iirc that discussed about crypto regulation in the near future. I can definitely see this as a friendly gesture, but who knows if things will change in the near future.

I guess popular business like Indodax, Pintu, or Tokocrypto is the one with the biggest presence in the local market due to either being early, doing a ton of marketing, or getting an investment from big players like Binance, and so on.
1103  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [warning] Fake Private-note -- pirvnota.com on: June 15, 2023, 12:28:11 AM
This will lead us to who uses these services, is it a beginner or someone who knows the basics of encryption.
Definitely. It is inevitable to discuss who use them and for what purpose, but seeing that service like this exist and even scammers are trying to make phishing websites, it is safe to assume some people do use them. It is definitely not the best option for security or privacy, so I guess those who use them believe the tradeoff is worth it. Or if they are a beginner, they simply don't want to look for other options since they think this is good enough for them. CMIIW.
they can share texts only, so that it calls notes
Oh, you're right. My bad. I won't be surprised if there will be a new one that supports image or something similar though.
1104  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] AgoraDesk.com | Buy ♻️ Sell Bitcoins Anonymously! on: June 15, 2023, 12:17:34 AM
I've just checked using some different VPN servers and the default value seems to be EUR. I guess they could update this so that the website reads the IP and then adjusts the currency of said IP? Or would it be more privacy invasive?
I checked the homepage using Windscribe VPN and it automatically changes depending on which countries I used. I tried Singapore, Belgium, US, and some other countries and the price changed accordingly (SGD, USD, EUR, etc). Based on this, I do believe they read the IPs of the visitors. Not sure why it doesn't work for you though. Maybe due to your VPN settings?
1105  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [warning] Fake Private-note -- pirvnota.com on: June 14, 2023, 01:46:52 AM
But really, does anyone use an online service to send sensitive data? This data can be viewed by the service provider a.k.a site owner and then may be modified.
The data is not hashed to ensure that it is not modified, and therefore even the legal site cannot be trusted.
I guess it depends on what sensitive data is being shared. If we are talking about passwords and stuff like that, maybe most of them won't use this self-destruct note. Maybe they will share secret links or screenshot with someone else, things that you don't want other people to know but need to be shared with your partner for your purpose. People can also use it to send their BTC address to somebody else if they're doing a trade that requires secrecy (although I doubt this is the best choice for that), which I guess is why scammers are publishing websites like this. I would not be surprised if some of these websites also replace credit card numbers, and stuff like that. CMIIW.
1106  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: After Bitcoin: Investor's Exodus to Virtual Money on: June 14, 2023, 01:12:51 AM
Just found out about your project from the Mining board. I don't think you need to make new threads to announce your book btw, just stick to this one and then look around if you want to create new articles related to mining.

Anyway, I think you'll have an easier time convincing people to share their stories if you use other platforms like Gitbook (if you still want to connect your GitHutb) for example. At the very least it should be better than your current setup, even though it is not ideal either since GitBook is designed for documentation. GitHub is just not suitable for collaborative writing IMO.
1107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Texas moves to create gold-backed digital currency on: June 14, 2023, 01:01:19 AM
Isn't this basically fiat in a digital form? At the very least, the idea of issuing currency backed by gold is not new. I guess technicalities will be the place where it differs from others. CMMIW. It's kinda interesting to see the idea proposed by so many altcoin projects is now being developed by some government bodies.
The digital part is where I actually don't think most people will buy the idea; making it digital means they will have to lock off the physical gold and make it digital as the USDT is pegged to the physical dollar. How long will it retain the same value as the real-world gold market? What will happen if the blockchain where it's been minted breaks down? To me, these are a few factors people might consider before considering it as a national reserve.
Verification could also be an issue. Although I don't think the amount of distrust toward this kind of currency will be similar to how people view USDT as being shady. Can't be helped since they never publish their details explicitly anyway.
1108  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: P2P Scams : Where does the government stand on: June 14, 2023, 12:32:33 AM
this is a way where we can find so many forms of scamming because the government would not take any responsibility if anyone ever report the case of being scam through P2P method.
I don't think responsibility is the right word. Even if crypto is legalized in your country and you can trade it openly, they still won't compensate you if you fail for a scam. I guess help is the word you're looking for, more or less. At the end of the day though, people should not overly depend on the government to do investigative works to put scammers in jail.

I have seen many cases where the buyer was claiming that he had paid the fund and begging the seller to release the coin without seeing any fund. Theybhave so many methods they use and we need to be aware of those methods or else, we might fall for there scam.
Any decent platform would always alert its users that they should never communicate outside of the platform and ask for proof from their trading partners. Even if you do a P2P trade directly, it is a silly mistake to make unless you're so new to P2P IMO. CMIIW.
1109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin Be Badly Hurt if Binance Goes Down? on: June 14, 2023, 12:09:59 AM
Is the US a big threat to the coin market?
They are trying to control the market, that much is certain. I don't think the end goal is to kill crypto altogether, I believe the US SEC is trying to gain a foothold before they start introducing rules, business partners, etc whether it is directly or indirectly. It might seem scary but this should not be the first time stuff like this happens. FTX went bankrupt just a few months ago, and the market is still doing healthy compared to the past. We might go even lower but that's just the nature of a very speculative market.

At the end of the day having a less concentrated market that relies on one or two exchanges is good IMO.

1111  Local / Altcoins (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: [DISKUSI] Tentang Web3 on: June 13, 2023, 01:23:41 AM
referensi : https://coinvestasi.com/berita/gta-6-dirumorkan-akan-gunakan-bitcoin-pada-202

1112  Local / Altcoins (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: [Diskusi] Altcoin yang Jadi Pesaing Utama Bitcoin on: June 13, 2023, 01:14:52 AM

CMIIW.

1113  Local / Mining (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: Cara Perawatan (Maintenance) Laptop yang Telah Melakukan Penambangan on: June 13, 2023, 12:36:45 AM
CMIIW.
1114  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [List] Dompet Bitcoin - Wallet Sofware on: June 13, 2023, 12:26:46 AM

1115  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: El Salvador to develop mining farm Using Volcano Energy on: June 11, 2023, 08:54:30 PM
Such a project cannot be implemented very quickly, so I am interested in the cost of mining bitcoin after halving on such electricity.
To generate electricity, it will not be necessary to burn natural resources, but this project will require maintenance and have electricity generation costs.
I see. Unless it becomes mainstream I doubt it will affect the average cost to mine Bitcoin that much. I won't be surprised if they have a promotion or something similar for the first few months or so, and then gradually increase the price as other businesses have done in the past. Not sure it will attract miners to move in since some people already mentioned that this marketing stunt is quite often done, while the reality is not that easy for miners (or even the average joe) to get stable electricity.
1116  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Nigerian SEC declare Ban on Binance Exchange activities. on: June 11, 2023, 12:27:45 AM
I don't know what the SEC wants, lately I saw the SEC very aggressively suing against Binance,
I believe the entity is different. I don't think the Nigerian SEC has the same goal as the US SEC. As far as I'm aware, in my country, the same thing happened a few months ago. As of now, crypto exchanges need to register locally, have an office here, and so on before they can operate legally. The goal is to make crypto taxation easier, or in other words, exchange will help the government to record and to tax every trade made on their platform. Basically, the government wants some control and earns more taxes from the industry. I won't be surprised if this is the goal here. CMMIW.
1117  Economy / Economics / Re: US Advisory on Payment App Risks and Bitcoin’s Position as a Secure Alternative on: June 11, 2023, 12:07:44 AM
That's right and another reason why we shouldn't keep big amounts there is, what we've seen from some bank customers in China and I think in Lebanon too when they've got funds deposited on their bank accounts yet the bank won't allow them to withdraw due to government intervention and command.
What is the reason for that? While it is possible that a government freeze any account for a made-up reason, I think the chance is quite small unless some economic uncertainty happens in that country. I've seen a few cases where banks failed to get the capital to get their operation going, and then they stop the withdrawal process but they still need to pay their users by selling their assets or getting a bailout. Using Bitcoin to store your wealth is definitely an alternative if you don't mind the volatility.
1118  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: El Salvador to develop mining farm Using Volcano Energy on: June 10, 2023, 12:49:39 AM
That is the source the information which posted was gotten and that was why I use it in the post. I can't post another link that the information was not gotten from. And when a news is published there must be different opinions and views.
That is fair, but I believe you can also double-check the news first. I mean, from the comments you can tell that some already suggest it is old news. I don't think it is difficult to search for similar news if they do exist. They are not talking about views or opinions related to the topic too, just stating that the news is likely old. Anyway, the mixups between volcano energy and Volcano Energy is funny to some extent.

But what will be the cost of bitcoin after halving on such a project?
Do you mean the cost to mine Bitcoin if they have access to such an energy source? I guess we need to wait until the price kicks in. If it is cheap, maybe some miners will use them. At the end of the day, the market will adjust itself (hash rate & difficulty might increase for a while, then some miners no longer make a profit, hash rate & difficulty decrease, etc) as usual. CMMIW.

I doubt this news will pump the Bitcoin price or anything like that if that's what you're referring to.

1119  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: A Non-Custodial wallet, Atomic Wallet, being compromised on: June 10, 2023, 12:31:31 AM
But I am curious, if they already know that funds are on the move then is it possible for middle services like sinbad mixer to expose them for the sake of goodness and users money?
Even if they can do it, I doubt any mixer would do that (at least not publicly). It basically tells its users that they can and will expose their logs if they deem it necessary. Why bother using them in the future if privacy is your goal? Besides the fault of this case is more on Atomic Wallet being a terrible wallet, not necessarily a mixer or other privacy tools IMO.

How can a mixer know the seed phrase of an address that they sent coins to after mixing, that is not possible.
I think he's not referring to the seed phrase of the hacker address, but the logs of the mixing process.

Sounds like click-bait of this dude. So, for what reason this "Zach" doesn't reveal his knowings?
He's got a decent following on Twitter at the very least. Can't say for certain how reliable his info is since I'm not that active on social media. You can check out his Twitter if you want to know more, @zachxbt.
1120  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin Magazine Doesn't Limit to 1 Acct Per IP Address? on: June 10, 2023, 12:08:43 AM
See my updated post. I make at least 10,000 a week (at least US$1.00) so something for sure.
I think this basically answers your question. The cost they spend to encourage users to read/visit their website is incredibly small compared to the visibility that they get. There is little to no incentive for them to actively find users who abuse the system unless you explicitly abuse it with bots or something. But yeah, at the end of the day, nobody knows unless you ask them.

If $1 per week is a lot for you, I suggest looking at remote workers like raters who usually don't need a lot of job history. You'll earn a lot more and that should allow you to spend more of your time learning something else, even if it is not related to crypto.
