1341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin cover total liquidity on: April 10, 2023, 12:59:16 PM
also the Bitcoin ecosystem is not large enough to cover liquidity properly Since mining is not promisingly efficient how will enough Bitcoin get into circulation? Such that everyone has enough Bitcoins to cover their net worth
If people start using Bitcoin to show their wealth, I personally expect the price of Bitcoin relative to other currencies to become stable, or even increase depending on how inflation goes. But regardless of that, if people want to use Bitcoin to trade, there will be trades happening around the world, and I'm pretty sure sellers won't sell their BTC if the price is terrible (in most cases). There won't be any liquidity issues since people can simply buy again if they need to unless I misunderstood some of your points.

Others have mentioned it already, but there is no way people can own Bitcoin without spending/investing in something, just like how people can't own gold if they don't buy or mine them on their own. Do you expect everyone to own gold without any cost? I bet you don't think so. The same thing applies to Bitcoin, or any asset in general. Their limited nature is what makes them valuable, to begin with. CMIIW.
1342  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [List] Dompet Bitcoin - Wallet Sofware on: April 10, 2023, 12:35:14 PM
1343  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [Info] Sosial Media dan Review Campaign Pembayaran Bitcoin [Terupdate] on: April 10, 2023, 10:53:24 AM

1344  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [Tutorial] BlueWallet - Bitcoin Wallet on: April 10, 2023, 10:35:48 AM
1345  Local / Mining (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: Beli vga bekas untuk mining on: April 10, 2023, 10:27:59 AM
1346  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What if CEX do not have BTCs? What is being traded then? on: April 08, 2023, 01:10:57 PM
I don't think exchanges can fake that. They know anyone would want to withdraw the BTC so everything that is traded in the exchange is available for withdrawal. They'd be labeled scam if they are not allowing withdrawals.
Judging from how many exchanges went insolvent, I think it is fair to say that at the very least they need to provide proof of their sustainability. If they do that, users can see whether they have the ability to sustain their business if all users withdraw their BTC or coins at the same time. Even if they do that though, they can still lie or deliberately be misleading to avoid further questioning. I mean, even the latest FTX case can be solid proof that 'reputable' exchanges need more than just name and marketing to survive the market. You should not underestimate how scammy exchanges can be regardless if they are popular or not.

If there is less BTC volume then there are just a few people in the exchange buying and selling. Most probably the price of BTC in this particular exchange will be much higher or lower compare to the market price.
AFAIK, trading volume should not be a metric for reserves anyway. Exchanges can fake them anytime, or at least manipulate them to some extent to hide their insider trading or something similar.
1347  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: is it necessary to mix Bitcoin that you bought from an exchange? on: April 08, 2023, 12:50:02 PM
If you bought the coins from a centralized exchange, it's really stupid if you mix your coins because the exchanges already know who are you and they will restrict your account until you answered several questions about the coins you have mixed.
Is there any documented case of this? I've never heard of exchange freezing accounts because someone uses mixers to send money from the wallet they own. If you use a mixer or tainted coins to deposit, then this one is common. As far as I know, most exchanges are only concerned about incoming deposits since they need to practice KYC/AML or whatever regulations they need to obey (or use). Even if their users are funding hackers, they are free from legal obligations as long as they don't accept transactions related to those services.
1348  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Question about Freezing of account on: April 08, 2023, 11:57:05 AM
Can we report this exchange
Its bitrue but ends in [.cm] not [.com]
Are you sure this is not a scam exchange? I'm not familiar with Bitrue, but as far as I know, they never mentioned having other domains other than the com you mentioned. Even if it is true, I don't think any tier-3 or 2 exchange such as Hotbit asks you for a 20% deposit for verification. At best they would just close your account without saying anything else other than they were allowed to do so because the user is breaking their TOS. Still shady as hell, but not as scammy as this one IMO. Either your friend registered into a scam exchange that will serve its users for a while before they scam them, a phishing website, or a very shady exchange that should never be used regardless if she does copy trade or not.
1349  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Banned in Australia on: April 08, 2023, 11:44:59 AM
Hmm, so they were trying to keep their image clean, more or less? Looks like this is the norm for Binance operations for overseas users. AFAIK, they also have no license to operate in Indonesia but still accept registration from Indonesian users. Their domain was banned, though ineffective since a DNS encryption or VPN can still bypass it.

That said, they tried to enter the market by investing/acquiring (not sure which term is the right one) one of the popular exchanges here. Most of the top executives seem to be related to Binance. So far it seems to work in their favor. It is interesting to see if their affiliated exchange here will survive if Binance gets into troubles like FTX. Hopefully, the money doesn't go overseas.
1350  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do you think security is a prime feature to consider in payment getaways? on: April 08, 2023, 11:00:34 AM
Definitely, everyone will consider security as priority  while choosing crypto payment gateways. I have been using coinremitter for almost 1 year. This gateway has best security feature.
I don't think you can be a source of third-party feedback[1] if you're running and developing the platform yourself. It is like seeing an FTX employee saying FTX is the best exchange that is impossible to hack. No one would believe you regardless of how you convince them. You can try to run a review campaign if you want to market your product here. I'm sure you know one or two things about marketing on this forum from how old your account is.

Also, what you listed above are just protection measures that are more or less common on other platforms with different names. It is definitely not an exclusive feature that you can sell and sway potential business from using your gateway IMO. But yeah, you should also consider security measures available to protect the sellers/business too, as others have mentioned many times.

1351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for feedback | I’ve launched CryptoYou, the cross-chain hybrid exchange on: April 06, 2023, 08:07:23 PM
- We can't use a .onion url as we'll hand our neck to authorities and that's not in our plan now  Wink
What do you mean by this? Are you suggesting that the government is the one who controls the Tor network so they will record all of your activities?
- Cryptoyou runs on top of Yanda, the transparency protocol that proves every off-chain action and stores the logs on-chain.
How do we verify this? I'm not familiar with the tech you mentioned, but if what you said is true, then it should be possible to provide the data for each transaction after the user does the trade. Looks great, but will need more tests to see if it is easy to verify or not.

Btw, is the circle/swap symbol between the coin/token just a decoration? At first, I thought it will allows me to easily swap the coin I want to buy/sell but I can't click them at all. I also notice there is a withdrawal fee on the fee breakdown. What does this withdrawal refer to? I don't think it refers to an exchange withdrawal since you have a separate fee for that, at least for the ETH-BTC pair.
1352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon CEO of Chase Bank on Banking Crisis on: April 06, 2023, 07:45:52 PM
It does not work that way. In fact our traditional economy does not work that way. We had economic crisis many times and it doesn’t mean we accepted copper or oil or gold during that period.
I think most of us don't expect something like that to happen anyway. I mean, who would be able to trade if you need to carry gold or oil in these modern days? What is clear is that they always fall back on those assets when the fiat crisis happens, and I don't think it will change since the system is not changing either. There is a reason why people buy gold and so on. Fiat values can evaporate overnight if the government decides to do so.
We became powerful again by doing proper salvation of things that helped grow it back. In similar ways, bitcoin is just bitcoin and it will remain as it is for years to come.
What do you mean by the salvation of things here? Your statement can mean many ways and I'm not sure how to interpret it. If you're talking about how Bitcoin is not the first choice for payment, I don't think that is not that bad. But things slowly change, even my family who doesn't follow tech updates knows about Bitcoin and how it is useful if you want to pay for something over the internet.
1353  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Lightning Network Transaction Stuck for 3 months on: April 06, 2023, 07:05:15 PM
I'm quite confused, you already agreed that it was a scam transaction and many people already told you the reason on that thread. If that is really the transaction you're referring to, why are you asking it again? What changes your mind? Did the sender convince you with something? You can also bump that thread if you want to ask more about it, even though I don't think anything will change.
1354  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Trust wallet update on: April 06, 2023, 06:57:42 PM
The fastest and safest way is to avoid it or hide the dusting tokens. I even got a lot of tokens dusting into one of my wallets.
This is probably due to some of the address's participation in Airdrops etc, so it's a target for token dusting.
Yeah, that's why I mention disabling those tokens unless you refer to something else. I don't think you can hide them from Trust Wallet even on the latest update other than doing that. For ERC tokens and its derivative, it might not be a pain in the ass to handle, but you'll definitely find some trouble if they attack your Bitcoin address or something similar. It is better to use other wallets to manage your addresses if you got attacked by them.
1355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whitepaper Hidden in every Modern Copy of macOS on: April 06, 2023, 06:47:55 PM
It's not just few days that WP is inside Macs... guys, do you really think it was a choice of apple as a company and maybe not a choice of a single programmer within their company?
As far as I can tell not everyone agrees on this either. I don't think we can find the answer anyway since one of them could simply answer ambiguously, or even lie if it fits their current narrative. Even if we did find the answer, things can change pretty quickly if the market demand to do so. Who knows, the company that hates crypto right now will change its tune after they prepare its best to reap profits from the market, and vice versa.
Steve Jobs or someone from the Apple Executive Board (or maybe even the whole executive/founding fathers of Apple) were Satoshi Nakamoto, and had created the project for the sole purpose of not only creating a payment channel/system that would traverse seas and continents, but to also beta test Apple Pay which is their strongest suit in creating the Apple Ecosystem
This is too far-fetched IMO. At the very least, I can't imagine satoshi working at some corporate that produce so many overpriced products and being so privacy-conscious at the same time. But well who knows, unless we got internal info all of these theories might as well be true.
1356  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I think it's time to leave Binance, any alternatives? on: April 05, 2023, 03:12:39 PM
Personally, I think that Coinbase will become more popular because it's number two exchange by popularity at the moment and what makes it more attractive compared to Binance is that it's the San Francisco-based company, has been in business since 2012.
I no longer use international centralized exchanges years ago due to their data breaches, ridiculous KYC requirements, and so on. Binance even sent me a notice saying my account will be locked if I don't update my KYC. If they ever went bankrupt, I don't think I'll be affected. As of now I mainly use my local exchange, and P2P to reduce my dependency on centralized services. So far so good, as long as I don't dabble in altcoin trades or something similar.

If you use Binance as an all-in-one platform to interact with crypto, I can see why you'd find it a hassle to find alternatives. But you should never rely on a third party in crypto. I'd be more than happy if Binance got closed and the market become more decentralized, even if it might result in a short or even medium-term bear market.
1357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How honest and transparent are casinos? on: April 05, 2023, 01:37:06 PM
This is also a break in the trust relationship between the casino and the gamblers, if they are doing that. It takes only one honest whistleblower to expose practices like this... or a skilled white hat hacker to show other gamblers what they are doing.  Wink
I think they can use this same argument to answer your question. Since doing something like this can damage their reputation and potentially make them lose customers, there is no need for them to cheat their customers. Plus it is easy and probably hard to prevent since anyone can be a white hat hacker even though they seem so greedy. Not to mention the cost to cover any giveaway is probably not that big compared to all of their expense.

Obviously, they can simply lie and the owner can simply lock out any access to sensitive data for his workers. Not the best answer to hear, but probably the one that will likely be given if you ask them directly. Snce they probably won't give any data about this, if you're suspicious about something like this, the only thing that you can do is probably do the data digging yourself or hire a white hat hacker to do so.
1358  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Financial Service Agency of Japan, issues warning letter to BitGet on: April 05, 2023, 12:30:03 PM
So basically all exchanges that serve Japanese customers right now are operating based on following ambiguous rules (or no rules at all)? Else, how do they define operating without proper registration? At least they don't just fine exchange and people left and right without providing enough regulatory basis. So it makes sense that some exchanges are stopping their services for Japanese users if what I've heard about strict regulations is real. Looks like they believe following the regulators is a pain in the ass and not worth the effort.

If their rules regarding customers' fiat are true[1], I guess we'll see more and more exchanges interact closely with banks. I won't be surprised if banks or government will launch their own exchange for full control if a private entity can't do this. Would be interesting to see if P2P trades will happen more or not if there is no good centralized platform that can serve the demand for Japanese crypto trades.

1359  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [Berita] Chipmixer disita !!! on: April 05, 2023, 12:12:24 PM

1360  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [List] Dompet Bitcoin - Wallet Sofware on: April 05, 2023, 11:35:28 AM
