1621  Other / Off-topic / Re: Rooted Mobile Device on: March 05, 2023, 01:16:38 PM
Did your friend buy a new device, or does he root his phone on his own? Your "a few weeks ago" suggest the latter and if that's the case, I'm pretty sure your friend is aware of the risk. It's kinda wild if he roots his phone but doesn't know anything about something like this. Why did he root his phone? Knowing the reason can probably help him encourage him to unroot his phone if there is an alternative for his needs.

If your friend still wants to use a rooted device for whatever reason, telling him exclusively use his iOS for crypto activities is a good thing. I don't see the point of using two mobile devices anyway unless one of them is used for budget cold storage. Another alternative is to do a multi-boot on his Android device, although this is less secure and probably what I won't do if I have a spare device to use.

Either install some of the available unrooting software or do a factory reset. Google android unrooting software and you'll see what I'm talking about.
AFAIK a factory reset does not remove the root, it will just restore to a fresh install of the system without any modification to the binary partition. At the very least, that's what happen to my Magisk/SU rooted phone with a TWRP recovery. That being said, I'm no longer up to date with Android modification tools, I don't know if there is a new rooting method out there that uses the default factory reset on Android to uninstall their binary. If you're referring to a new method, would be cool if you can share some links here.
1622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PC GPU shipments decreased on: March 05, 2023, 01:07:04 PM
A also have a lot of RX 470, RX 570, RX 5700, but I will not sell them now. Maybe when they are profitable again, the prices of these gpus will be a lot higher.
There will be competition from newer GPUs though? Do you think those GPUs will sell for a decent amount if the new generation is just $50-$100 more expensive? Judging from how AMD keep making their newest card cheaper, secondhand last generation card will definitely get cheaper too. If the hash/profit ratio is not better, I'm assuming buying the new card would be better no? Don't know about Nvidia though, I don't see them lowering their price anytime soon, judging from how they keep making new $1k cards even after their sharp decline in GPU revenue.

No new farms are opening up and no new enthusiast home miners are on the increase, quite contrary they are on a big decrease and as such is only natural for us to see such dropping numbers for GPU-s right now and for the foreseeable future.
For Nvidia, I also think their price turns off a lot of gamers, especially the lower to midrange segment. The performance increase doesn't really justify an upgrade from the last gen, it would be stupid to buy them if they are looking strictly for value. Personally, I'll stick with my 3060 TI for the foreseeable future if gaming is my purpose.
1623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can all currency be mined? on: March 05, 2023, 12:34:48 PM
Year POW has definitely been the main one especially for old coins, but we now have so many consensus mechanisms cropping up here and some of them also use hardware to "mine" coins
Using known terms from other coins to promote their own network is not really new tbh. Just like how the term "decentralized" become so widely used but most of the time it refers to different things which make new users become misled later on. I think "mining" also has this kind of problem, not to the same degree as "decentralized" though. Sometimes it refers to earning coins through submitting blocks in the PoW style, but the speaker/project also uses it to refer to earning coins from staking, etc. Hopefully, new users will explore more, and won't stop knowing the terms from marketing articles in the future.

I'm new to cryto currency so please forgive my ignorance when it comes to this kind of stuff. At my age cryto is totally new to me.
Your description is a bit unclear. Posting a screenshot of their message would be helpful since the link you shared needs an account to access it. Just upload it on an image hosting service and don't worry if the image doesn't show up since you're just a newbie. From their terms of service and what you described here, it sounds like you're talking about the KYC process[1]. That being said, their small deposit for a check is definitely shady as hell, especially if the minimum amount is $10. If you can provide a screenshot it would make it clearer.

That being said, I think you can find more help if you post this on Gambling section since the issue at hand is not really about any altcoin but a casino service. Even if they are legit, my suggestion is to look for other alternatives. There are tons of casinos that have more reputation on this forum, I'd avoid using an unknown service with little to no history at all. Where did you find them anyway? Is it from an ad? Does anyone recommend it to you via e-mail, or something else?

i'm looking for crypto lawyer to help me recover the funds. anybody can give direction?  i'm contacting financial authorities  and i'm willing to join others who in same shoes as me to build solid case against those fraudsters .
I'm not an expert but this sounds like it depends on where you live plus where they operate. Since OP is already doing that, you can probably ask for his help if you belong to the same country/region. The cost of hiring the lawyers and doing all of that process might be costly though, just make sure it is worth it. You can also post a new thread on the legal section, I think you will get better exposure there. You can also try making noise on social media or send your details to influencers who focus on exposing frauds, who knows they might be interested on giving your case more exposure.

Ane lama tidak buka Ledger ane dan firmwarenya jelas out of date.

kalo disini saya hanya menyarani pelajari saja teknologinya jangan ikutin politiknya

1629  Local / Altcoins (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: Adakah Mixer Untuk Altcoin? on: March 04, 2023, 03:13:38 PM

So, jangan lupa untuk tetap riset.

1630  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Cara Menyampaikan Pajak Penghasilan Atas Transaksi Perdagangan Bitcoin pada SPT on: March 04, 2023, 02:47:11 PM

1631  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to convert my money to bitcoin because of our current banking system in m on: March 03, 2023, 01:07:44 PM
Do not forget that the only restriction here is on physical cash use, you can use mobile transfer to nearly an unlimited amount, but the banking network is usually a problem and quite a lot of merchants prefer payment with cash.
Is there no other channel for payments over there? In my country, we have various digital fiat wallet that doesn't necessarily rely on banks to process the transaction. I'm somewhat surprised that it is not the same there since online payment has become popular. Not the ideal solution but can be an alternative for small spending, definitely don't use them to store most of your money though. If Bitcoin stores are easily accessible, this would be the best time to use them for daily needs.

Bitcoin doesn't work like that because Bitcoin isn't Proof Of Stake, it's Proof Of Work where there's a maximum supply. The price is determined from demand and supply.
Whether a coin use PoS or PoW has no correlation to its max supply afaik, as it's a number that can be changed. How easy or hard it is to change will depend on many things, including but not limited to community consensus, how distributed the network control is, etc. Even if you hold PoS coins/tokens, you also need to do something if you want passive income.
1632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Willing to invest on bitcoin but having some challenges. on: March 01, 2023, 03:07:43 AM
Can't you copy what your neighbor did for your electricity problem? If the reason why you can't do that is a lack of money, then there is no other option other than to look for jobs and save some money so that you can have access to electricity on your own. It is surprising that there is still a place not covered by electricity, considering that you have access to a phone.

As for your investment question, a lack of internet access is not really what you should focus on right now. Try to search and research if trading Bitcoin is allowed in your area, if there is any P2P market, and so on. This will help you can decide how you will buy your first coins. Don't try to hurry and buy from some random guy on the internet just because they offer cheap prices, there are tons of scammers online. No need to rush, especially if you don't have the means to do so.
1633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you safe? Think again and be safe. [For newbies] on: March 01, 2023, 02:22:56 AM
2. Then comes the second scenario. In this scenario, if you import these wallets within your existing wallet, then that will also get effected. The bot will take control over your existing wallet too. And if you don't completely remove that from your PC/phone it will continue to happen no matter how many wallets you create.
I'm not sure I get this, how are they controlling your other wallets if the seeds are different? Are you saying they inject a payload in the seeds/wallet file that exposes other wallets' seeds? Or, are you referring to other addresses (on other chains) managed by seeds shared by those scammers? I'm not aware of any seeds or wallet file hack who can do the former.

That being said, downloading a wallet file from some random guy on the internet is never a good idea. It can be malware, a keylogger, or something else. As long as people use their common sense they should be able to avoid this.
1634  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining on the cloud on: March 01, 2023, 02:11:04 AM
So they think it's more profitable than mining by themselves?
I'm pretty sure they can mine profitably. Heck, they have no reason to open another service if it is not profitable for them to begin with. This is just another attempt to get more money from users who are not aware of how risky giving away their money just to get $1/day. They claim they offer maintenance, etc, but at the end of the day, you need to trust them.

Do you have any idea if its minimum investment is also up to their Binance users? I was a bit nacurios even though, of course, if I was just trying to test cloudmining, it would be best to try here in Binance than on the other platform.
You can check it at https://pool.binance.com/en/cloud. Not sure what the minimum purchase is since it was sold out already. You can probably check it out in the future, though I won't be too hopeful about it. You should never bother with cloud mining in the first place, there are other methods to earn BTC such as day trading, assuming you want to learn and spend time doing trading management, etc.
1635  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What happens if the block reward gets to it's minimal or lowest? on: March 01, 2023, 01:17:47 AM
I believe that the best time to start buying ASIC miners is when the next Bitcoin halving is not very far away.
I said this because I've seen many people did this with both Asics and GPU miners and they later sell their equipment when the next bear market is almost here because equipment starts losing value again, it's like a never ending circle.
I'm not really sure why you said buying when the next halving is not far away is the best time. Are you assuming the profits for the next few months would be massive and allows them to get back their investment so quickly?

As far as I know, there are many factors that can influence your buying decision, including whether you have access to cheap electricity or not. If you do, anytime can be a good time to buy mining rigs. CMIIW.

My actual question is, what will happen with Bitcoin mining in future? Will this ever head one day? because blocks reward getting shrink every circle must end on day, or am I not getting a part about Bitcoin mining?
I suggest you search for discussion about block rewards or mining rewards in this sub-board, or Bitcoin discussion. Your worries have been discussed many times before, you might be able to learn something new from those threads. In short, the market will always look for equilibrium. Miners will come and go, difficulty will always change to balance that out.
1636  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Outsmart Bitcoin Mining: heliosfund.io - We're LIVE on: March 01, 2023, 12:36:32 AM
I didn't get what i can or cannot do as a copper member but sure, you can ask us anything both here on this thread or more easily on our telegram: https://t.me/fundhelios
It mainly allows you to post images if you are still a newbie. Considering your account is already a Jr. Member account now, it is not really necessary.

Can you send me a DM sharing what do you mean with the site is not secure? Consider that we don't store fiat or crypto on our platform , as we allocate 100% of the user deposits into mining devices. Thanks.
I can see that you don't use HTTPS, or it is not active/automatically active if the user doesn't explicitly put https in front of your website address. I think this is easy to fix and doesn't cost you that much if any at all.

Btw, some of your claims are way too extraordinary. It is easy to see the way people would misunderstand you as a shady mining company since you claim that you can help users get to earn 9x from mining[1]. Not to mention you need your users to deposit money and lost control of their funds. I would never trust a platform that has ridiculous claims like that.

1637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to bridge BTC to another chains? on: February 28, 2023, 01:56:30 PM
If you "bridge" your token to another chain, you basically lose your Bitcoin and get a made-up token instead (like WBTC). Are you aware of the risk? You no longer control your BTC, and you rely on some smart contract or other parties, just like how you use a centralized exchange. Not to mention you also need to deal with volatility, trading volumes, etc for each wrapped token. There is no way to reduce this risk other than looking for other options. CMIIW.

If you really want to earn passive income from altcoins, allocate funds for that and just buy the altcoins directly. Keep your BTC for yourself, don't get tricked by some shady pools promising 50% gain per year when you can DCA on your own.

1638  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: thoughts on babylon? on: February 28, 2023, 01:48:26 PM
So if a POS chain has the ability to leverage POW/Bitcoin security, isn't that a huge advantage? Now PoS becomes more secure.
Sure, but the question still remains. Why do you need to launch a PoS chain if, in the end, you need to rely on another chain to make sure your transactions are not reversible? You can simply launch a decentralized database without any crypto at all and then chain the hash to Bitcoin or something similar. While I do agree that fast transactions can be beneficial if you want to use them for payment activities, from a security perspective this means the chain by nature is unreliable since the beginning. At the very least, the proposal for this project that you shared is not that convincing as far as I can understand it.

That being said, I can understand why some people like the idea of relying on Bitcoin when they can launch other coins and use PoS to get faster transactions. As long as they can make sure the attack does not happen before the timestamping on the BTC network is done, it might work for their purpose. The next question would then be how reliable it is. CMIIW.

1639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How is DeFI exactly Decentralized ? on: February 28, 2023, 01:33:20 PM
there are several exchanges that Claim to be decentralized but in actual sense, they are not, any decentralized exchange that would still require you to deposit your fund to their platform before you can trade is not a decentralized exchange, but a centralized exchange that uses a decentralized login system.
I'm pretty sure Forkdelta and most delta-related exchanges use smart contracts to hold the funds, so not actually similar to a centralized exchange at all. I'm not sure what constitutes decentralized and centralized login either, but almost all "DeFi" platforms use more or less similar login models. CMIIW.

It was mentioned above, so I suggest you read it more. I also agree that using the term "non-custodial" is better since most of the time we're just talking about whether we still have control over our funds or not. Many exchanges use the term "decentralized" loosely and it is unclear what line they are referring to. At one point I've seen an exchange use it to describe the nature of their servers being hosted in multiple countries, but their cold wallets are controlled just by four people.
1640  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Need to better understand what market cap means on: February 28, 2023, 12:57:07 PM
"Not many people realize how important making a profit based on just movements could be and they focus on all the little details. I suggest making sure that you learn the movements by heart before you do anything else, that will definitely help you out in the long run."

Thanks.
I'm pretty sure he is referring to how people sometimes don't take a profit since the tokens they trade have a low market cap and they hope the price will increase a lot more later on. Personally, I've seen more or less the same thing. The main argument that someone (most of the time a bagholder) use is that since the market cap is so low, the necessary capital to pump the price is lower, hence the price can increase faster compared to other projects with a higher market cap.

That being said, daily trading is not for everyone. You need some capital to make sure you can gain profit consistently. On top of that, you also need good trading management, a cool head to respond to market situations, and more importantly the ability to afford to lose all of your capital if your trade went wrong IMO. So, daily trading or swing trading has its upside and downside, and understanding what market cap means can help a bit in deciding which kind of trading you wanna do.
