1641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin.org hacked. on: September 24, 2021, 06:09:09 AM
Bitcoin.org is owned by Cobra, his twitter is https://twitter.com/CobraBitcoin/

There will probably be something in the github repo. I opened an issue when I noticed this, so at least that will be closed when this is resolved:

Looks like Cobra is aware: https://twitter.com/CobraBitcoin/status/1440903346991337472

Thank you. I actually forgot all about Cobra Smiley

Damn.I'm glad I've never used bitcoin.org in my life before.
We have to track all the outgoing transactions of this scammers wallet.Perhaps this is the only way to catch the scammer, unless he tries to use a Bitcoin mixer. Why he isn't moving the BTC away from this wallet?

Wow,,, I used to think such people actually did not exist but now I found one. So you actually use bitcointalk and use Bitcoin and yet never used Bitcoin.org in your life ever? How did you learn about Bitcoin and what was your source? People have argued with me soon Bitcoin.org will never even be known and I thought that is ridiculous.
1642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin suitable to become legal tender? on: September 24, 2021, 04:47:13 AM
i think its not possible for bitcoin to become the international legal tender, because bitcoin's value is so high right now and many countries don't have enough resources to compensate for the value of bitcoin, meaning the international trade will crash because only the rich countries can buy goods and have the asset to be globally competitive in the economic aspect

Do you not come from a country where the value of the fiat is so low that it needs hundreds or thousands of units to pay for something? Try to come to Africa or Asia,,, India or Thailand for example you need to pay hundreds or thousands of the fiat currency for a small bottle of Coke.

And yet they are suitable.

1 satoshi is still not 1 cent. Of course it is possible.
1643  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have become cautious on the market on: September 23, 2021, 04:03:21 PM
I have become more cautious on the market from speculating that it might pump similar to the pump of December of 2020. My reasons for this are China Evergrande and the speculated connection of Tether’s holding of Chinese companies commercial paper. Tether’s lawyer denies this, however, we cannot trust his word until we can verify this.

Denial has become the operating word for this company though,,, so we should not be surprised they are reacting like this.

I think the market happened the way it did not directly because of this however,,, just manipulations as per expected, and as we can see it did not crash so badly and is already on the way towards recovery.

Caution is the wisest. Stay safe and do not panic.
1644  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 23, 2021, 01:58:21 PM
^  Tuchel has Pep’s number tho and it’s Chelsea at home.  So at first glance, for me it feels like it’s going to be low scoring under 2.5, draw at HT and the winner prolly gets a goal in thru a set piece.  1 - 0 for Chelsea or maybe 1 - 1..?  BTTS and under 2.5?

Yes, both managers are not keen to take on each other full blast,,, so both will even feel a draw might suit each other but if one scores early then it might be the change for everything.

Late goal winner is how I feel it happens OR many goals if early goal/s start to happen as unexpected.

But not many cards on this for sure I think.
1645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wallet from Satoshi Nakamoto era activates after 9 years on: September 23, 2021, 01:19:32 PM
Like pooya says, this is not Satoshi era wallets. A year passed since Satoshi left the forums when this wallet was last active. But still, it just goes to show how long people are willing to hodl and just how many super hodlers there are out there. Proof that people had belief then and still had belief now,,, everything in between is temporary.
1646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: September 23, 2021, 12:02:30 PM
New 4-3-free and Bet-6 are up on the sportsbook. The Highlight match is involving my team against Arsenal, the big London derby which unfortunately feels like it is no longer as prestigious as it used to be now that Chelsea is by far the biggest and best London club at the moment.
~snip

isn't Arsenal almost always in 4-3-free challenge?
nevertheless, I do see Arsenal coming back to upper part of the table, and maybe even a win on weekend is an option, they had a harsh start, with gunning against City broken them apart, and international break made miracle for them, two wins in a row, and they are having good momentum to crash Tottenham, that is having two loses after break, six conceived goals and none scored

Chelsea is certainly top London team at the moment

No I do not think so,,, usually it is the biggest match of the week according to them.

This was the last EPL picks from 4-3-free:
Tottenham-Chelsea
Bayern-Barcelona
Leeds-Liverpool
Manchester City-Arsenal
Chelsea-Arsenal

So Arsenal made the first two but those were also the biggest matches of the week Smiley

And I totally agree with Arsenal assessment,,, even though as a Spurs fan we are of course happy to see them suffer, but now we have been losing back to back and our positions are almost equal now.

People forget Arsenal lost 3 times yes, but twice to the 2 favorites to win EPL.
1647  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and protecting you wealth on: September 23, 2021, 10:07:33 AM
Something I know a lot of crypto people are against but I would still say is a legit way to defend against inflation is to take advantage of government bonds (or mutual funds in Asia).
I agreed with what you said if we are talking about a centralized investment option but still, the best decision about the government bonds investment is to take advantage of it because the government can not be totally trusted.

Yes but almost all the options provided as alternatives were centralized actually, except for bitcoin itself.

I do agree you cannot fully trust centralized options but the idea is to diversify risk and protect against inflation,,, and let us face it, you would be very very unlucky if your government in Asia today collapsed and lost all of your money. Again, my suggestion was not to put all eggs in a basket but add another extra basket to keep eggs in  Smiley
1648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 23, 2021, 08:56:58 AM
Thanks to Messi Barcelona has been a threat for nearly two decades now, that means something to barca fans, and not what we should use for comparison. Don't get me wrong, you can say Ronaldo is better, I just feel like he is not better just because he played on different teams, there are other reasons for it, and Messi is not worse just because he played in one league neither. If you want to compare them, compare their stats, not their league history.

This is what I meant when I said above that all the context is taken out of the cartoon,,, I also found it funny yes but it is totally an inaccurate depiction of either Ronaldo or Messi. Maybe it is more fair to Ronaldo as he wanted the moves all the time even from United days I remember the drama of Real approaching him all the time.

For Messi he had no choice, so was pushed rather than jumped.

And agree. Who is better will forever be up for argument, but you cannot use his success at different clubs to compare with one guy who was not only loyal to his club but to his wife since childhood Smiley
1649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now you can pay highway tolls using Bitcoin on: September 23, 2021, 08:24:25 AM
I still think these kinds of apps are unnecessary. Why would someone pay their toll in a less convenient way than just using their existing Rs?
Maybe you should double check how the app is going to work btw. It's definitely not perfect and more like another unnecessary gateway to use crypto, but who knows how many will use it.

Maybe you should double check how the app will work because I read and therefore made my comment Smiley It needs MORE steps than regular payment and as pointed out above by user stompix,,, this is not even a convenient method of payment.

Extra step to deposit fiat into another app (wallet) and then attach your tag to it, and then pay.

Why would I do that at the expense of using an untrusted custodial wallet?
1650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where DeFi is headed on: September 23, 2021, 08:00:21 AM
But it's happening, and we will still need Programmers, we will still have software and Websites, etc. It's just not centered around Programming. Virtual Reality is not the Pinnacle of our Economy.

The way I see it, there should be 1,000 Steemit Clones already but some as Forums, maybe one as Amazon Review Payments, Maybe a Google Maps Graphene Chain to pay Review writers, there could be so many things already happening with what exists today.

I follow you or catch up sometimes in your other thread so always I find some things interesting,,, but I always wondered if programmers and developers are more needed than actual users. Maybe progress is slower with only 1 or 2 devs part time but I think it is always better to make something people will use,,, and DeFi is not sustainable because not everyone has use for it since it necessitates capital.

And there must be first, before the ability to earn, a desire to engage. That makes things succeed naturally.
1651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 23, 2021, 06:57:49 AM
Yes everyone indeed,,, BTTS is quite good but I took it a step too far last night, as the two late games after Juventus were only one-sided wins, I think,,, it could be that a wiser choice for a very big parlay maybe is over 0.5 goal for all the games but then again it just needs 1 0-0 to take it all down.

Still very happy with where I am even though 4 of us are tied in first place for this week Smiley
1652  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: September 23, 2021, 06:24:46 AM
Hey everyone,,, just wanted to share I got 30 Bacarrat free bets I think was the rewards from Casino Live, and 2 banker pairs plus 1 tie and a few other wins gave me back a very good return! Thank you Sportsbet and Steve!

It is obvious that people did not realize how valuable that was, and I hope that by now people learned about it. look at Ajax, they are rarely ever good in europe, but they are always good at their own league and yes obviously Premier league is 100x time harder than Eredevise but they have managed to turn a huge profit over course of so many years thanks to keep focusing on raising talented players and send them away. At least there would be something to show for when you lose but have young talented high potential kids playing for you, now Arsenal has nothing to show for.

Fans especially are the ones to blame. Wenger stayed for a very long time without winning EPL and although for me if I was them winning Invincibles is enough memory and loads of Champions League every season,,, I know their fans wanted Premier League more and more. But they did not realize it was not Wenger but their bosses. Ajax is a big problem too though,,, players want to leave the club for fame and glamor and in a way this was Arsenal's problem.

Which is why I think local players from academy must be groomed so they feel more loyalty?

Confirming still down for me also even with various VPNs,,, does anyone know if there is any other place for anyone from there to make announcements? Their Twitter has been inactive almost a year from what I can see,,, hope not too many people fell for that scam, this is really a hit in the stomach for them.

1656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Gold: Superiority on: September 22, 2021, 03:18:56 PM
Gold price are going down and it is now not an best investment option for people and they are getting attracted towards other financial assets like bitcoin which is giving return unlike gold. Now people prefer to have some income with risk associated and high profits and gold is not the best option now. Those who were optimistic about it also have turned down the stones and made up mind of choosing other options as their funds are also going down with prices. It is now becoming obsolete with time and new technology.

Not going down as much as Bitcoin though,,, which is why I think it is quite silly to compare gold and Bitcoin in small snapshots of time. Gold has been around for thousands of years and Bitcoin only less than 1% of the lifetime. So yes, BTC is volatile now but maybe in 1000 years it will be like gold?

As much as I love BTC, Gold is still,,, gold standard. Undisputable for anyone:)
1657  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why does it keep falling ? on: September 22, 2021, 01:43:34 PM
Hopefully, we are a part of history in the making...

Tell your grand kids about "When I was young, a single bitcoin could only buy you a couple of gallons of milk.  Now a single bitcoin can buy you a small country."

How True.   Wink

We need to thank the bumper of this thread, who reminded us about the story we have to tell our grandchildren. Too bad I missed out on when BTC was buying a gallon of milk, but I am glad when I got in, 1 coin could not even buy a return plane ticket for me to overseas but now it can buy me and all my family business class seats and 5-star hotels for a week.

Now,,, my problem is still trying to collect that one BTC, the ultimate dream!

Draw seems to be the most possible outcome here right? Of course,,, I entered Spurs as the winner.
1659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 22, 2021, 11:39:46 AM
My guts are not consistent,,, sometimes good sometimes not. I put my picks in early as soon as they appear on my dashboard as coming in 72 hours,,, but there are times last season I think I forgot to login after a while. This is usually after international breaks or cup games and I forget.

But the default picks always save you and since they follow majority you are "safe".

Locking picks I do not find useful at all. I see everybody's predictions and I feel I did worse even before anything happens  Tongue
1660  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and protecting you wealth on: September 22, 2021, 11:00:22 AM
Something I know a lot of crypto people are against but I would still say is a legit way to defend against inflation is to take advantage of government bonds (or mutual funds in Asia).

The interest can be quite high almost 8-10%, guaranteed by government. If you can get your interest to be higher or equal to inflation, then you protect your wealth.

Commodities, stocks, art, these can go up in value but can also go down or in case of art even you may not find a buyer.
