1661  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin's age of legal competence on: February 22, 2023, 01:05:38 PM
Is there a mining protection for children on the Bitcoin core?
I've never heard of an app with something like that even outside of crypto. Even a gambling app will just notify you that you need to be 18 years old or something to use it. Sure, they can use KYC to filter out their users, but why would you expect something similar on mining software?

At best it would be just a notice as mentioned above (which is never gonna be effective), at it worst they'd need you to face cam or do something similar to see if you're really 18+ years old or not. I doubt that would be popular. Legality aside, I believe the dev would rather spend their time improving some bugs or adding new features to the network. Heck, I doubt they'd even care if a 5-year-old mine some sats on his papa's computer at home.
1662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how do I keep my private key safe? on: February 22, 2023, 12:53:53 PM
Someone advised me to use Gmail and store them as mails then I taught again, what if my Gmail gets hacked.
I suggest you stop listening to their advice in the future. Even if you are not trying to store your private key/seed phrase, using online storage to store sensitive data is never a good idea. Have you never heard of how many people lose their account/money because they save their password on their Evernote, Google Keep, e-mail, etc?

Personally, I store my seed phrase offline with encryption that only I know of, in a very secure location, and regularly check them out to see if anything is broken. Definitely not the best way but it is good enough for now, and I'll try to improve it in the future. I can't really protect myself from memory loss, so what I can do about that is just try to live as healthily as possible. Relying on our memory to remember the seed phrase is not a good idea anyway, just make sure to remember that you have some crypto and seed stored somewhere. CMIIW.

You should search around this board to find out how to protect your private key better. There are tons of threads talking about it other than what has been mentioned above.
1663  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano hardware wallet Phishing email about KYC out there on: February 21, 2023, 02:45:26 PM
Does this e-mail comes from their official e-mail account, like what happened to the DHL phishing e-mail that just happened recently, or is this just another random user pretending to be a Ledger support as usual? Most scam e-mails are filtered if you use a decent e-mail provider nowadays, at least that's what happen to my account. At the very least, I'm seeing fewer crypto phishing e-mails nowadays. CMIIW.

The firmware upgrade thing is a tender subject, because it is a nightmare ... or rather it was a nightmare to upgrade the firmware for the Ledger Nano ..the last time I did it.   Roll Eyes
Unless the update brings security updates or something major, I personally wait for reviews to see if there is any stability issue. I mostly use my hardware with Electrum anyway so there is no need to update quickly. Things might be a bit different if you use an official app that always requires the latest firmware. This is probably one of the ways scammers can mask their message, saying that there is a new major firmware update available that fixes a major security flaw for your HW.
1664  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin wallet users, have you ever? on: February 21, 2023, 02:31:16 PM
Though, it's always the work of users to come forth to the core developers and report to them that a site is taking control of users through a different download link or app store. As it's difficult for the victims to differentiate the user interface, so an alert on the site would help save others from falling into such scam. Most importantly, the deed has been done.
I believe most developers already give notifications/alerts about fake apps, whether it is on social media, in-app messages, forums, etc. Not to mention notifications like that is useless if a user is being attacked with phishing attacks, DNS hijack, or something similar. At least those that I'm aware of never wait until a user report that they get scammed to issue a notice saying that they won't ask for their private key, etc.

I think the main issue is how easy it is for fake apps to get listed on the play store, or how easy it is for scam ads to show on search results. A lot of users already complain about the lack of efficiency in reporting fake apps and ads, since scammers can easily list a new one under a different profile. There is no better way to solve this unless Google or Apple change the way they list new apps. I believe Google is more notorious for this though.
1665  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do i buy bitcoin to store on a usb on: February 21, 2023, 01:49:41 PM
What if someone hacks my computer can they steal the btc?
You seem to be new to crypto. If that's the case I suggest reading more on how to secure your seeds/private key/whatever you end up using later before you buy a hardware wallet or something similar. Those devices are not a shortcut to magically protect your BTC forever, you need to understand how to use them and their drawbacks. For example, even if you use a hardware wallet but store your seed on the cloud/unsecured computer, you can still lose money. If at the end of the day, you can only use your computer to store crypto for whatever reason, you should focus on increasing the security of your computer with better security practices.

Otherwise, if you want to use it as hot wallet, you can even open an exchange account, for instance on Binance and activate 2FA for authorization, for adding crypto addresses into list and for making transactions.
Please don't rely on an exchange to store your crypto. They are not invulnerable to hacks either. Not to mention you don't control the seeds/private key required to spend your coins, and they can ban/close your account anytime they wanted to. Don't allow another FTX or scam exchange to come again if you really want to own your BTC. Stop relying on a third party if you want to store your cryptocurrency. I'd say if you really need a hot wallet and you can't find an app that is flexible enough for your purpose then using a closed-source wallet is slightly better compared to using an exchange. That being said, you should move your funds/switch asap to an open-source wallet. CMIIW.
1666  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for feedback on my new bitcoin site! on: February 21, 2023, 01:27:59 PM
Here, I'll give you an update on my "Today's Crypto Currency". It's a blog site for the recent activity of Crypto Currency. You can give feedback for my site.
Don't hijack somebody's thread if you want a review for your website. Make a new one on this board if it is related to cryptocurrency. If you want detailed feedback because your blog offers services like portfolio tracking, etc, you can run a review campaign and post it on the Services board.

You seem to be always updated with the happening news here in the cryptocurrency industry dude, at this point I think it's okay when it comes to providing news in the crypto space.
OP's last seen is around a month ago, so I doubt he needs any more feedback. For the news part, it seems like he just aggregates news from other websites, so he can run a bot that grabs articles, images, links, etc without manually uploading news articles. I've seen many websites like this in the past, but most of them no longer exist due to a lack of traffic. At the very least, OP's website offers additional features other than posting news.
1667  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: thoughts on babylon? on: February 21, 2023, 01:08:38 PM
Are you talking about this one[1]? Sounds more like an altcoin rather than a Bitcoin project. This is my first time hearing about it, and my impression of them is not really that good. They leverage Bitcoin security to secure other chains, which to some extent means that they don't believe other chains are secure. It makes you question why those networks were launched in the first place if they can't stand on their own and rely on other networks, which adds another point of failure (even if it is as secure as Bitcoin).

From what they wrote in their technical paper, it seems like the main focus of the project is to reduce stake unbounding[2] to prevent some kind of attacks on the PoS ecosystem connected through Babylon. If you want a more technical review, maybe posting this on altcoin technical discussion or serious board would be better. At the end of the day, the launch of this project kinda amplify the beliefs that PoS is not as secure as PoW, and the tradeoff between security and scalability is still debatable in many ways. 1668  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Need to better understand what market cap means on: February 20, 2023, 02:26:45 PM
If one million tokens that were locked suddenly become unlocked, assuming nobody sells or buys, the only thing that happens is that these 1 million tokens are unlocked. Naturally, the price of the crypto will drop to $0.5, right? Because if the price doesn't drop to $0.5 and remains at $1, it means that for crypto projects, all they need to do is generate new tokens to increase their market cap, which doesn't make sense to me.
Why did you assume the price will drop? Your previous description about the market cap is more or less correct (some members already clarify it for you), and I don't see why you would assume any price change if there is no change in trading activity (volume, etc). In an ideal world (for the project team at least), that would increase the market cap instead. So yes, a project can increase its market cap anytime it wanted to, but no one would buy their tokens at all. If a team can increase its own holding then it means it can create as many tokens as it wanted to dump on the market, which will drive the price down regardless of how big its market cap is. No one would like a token like that.

That being said, it is true that most of the time when a token unlocks happen the token price would decrease because the selling pressure is increased while buy orders decreased. The reason why those tokens are locked is that they want to prevent people from selling them anyway, and keep the price up. As far as I'm aware, this metric is not being used by most traders nowadays. At least those that I know of. Sometimes they would see the fully diluted market cap as a comparison to see if it is worth trading the tokens for mid-term or daily (or holding it for the long-term). Most of the time though they just don't care and look at the charts. CMIIW.
1669  Economy / Exchanges / Re: JARVIS Exchange. Exchange Money on Turkey, China, Russia. on: February 20, 2023, 01:57:27 PM
This is the best exchanger for many reasons. Even if you have any problems they will solve them at any time. I would also like to note that the processing of the order is very fast, as well as the transaction itself. I exchanged BUSD into my QIWI wallet at a good exchange rate.
Respect.
If I didn't look at your post history, I'd thought you are a paid poster to boost this exchange. Since you said this is the best exchange, mind giving some examples of how they compare to other platforms? What comparison did you use to judge them? The support part is definitely interesting since most instant exchanges don't really offer reliable support. Heck, even big exchange fails to provide reasonable responses in most cases.

As mentioned above, speed is not the only factor that counts. I used many instant exchanges in the past and most of them are quite fast, but does that mean I'd recommend them to most users? Not really. Most of them rely on other parties which can flag you with a KYC anytime. Not to mention there is no reliable way to protect your funds in case they run away. In fact, if they don't offer speed, nobody would use them. A fast order speed is mandatory for a service like this, since they compete with decentralized exchanges, or to some extent centralized exchange which offers better reliability.
1670  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of countries that are encouraging the Bitcoin/Altcoin revolution on: February 20, 2023, 12:41:36 PM
I think giving some reasoning for your list (and other lists being shared here) would be better instead of just listing names. If we want to be stricter we also need to make a standard on what do we mean by encouraging revolution. Does doing research on cryptocurrency technology counts? Does having an education program focused on crypto count? What is on the opposite end of encouraging the revolution, is it banning Bitcoin from being traded, or blocking any access to crypto information such as Bitcoin whitepaper? Etc. If there is no clear line then everyone will arbitrarily agree on one thing and disagree on the other. So far though, what I can see is that most of us seem to limit the encouraging part from a trading/sale perspective.

I think your article code is broken. You probably want to add the title instead of the URL of the publisher. That aside, that article basically claims that it is easier to increase the numbers of crypto users in Indonesia because people spread the news quickly and most people are eager to try crypto since there is a lot of credit that they can use to trade/buy it. It is implied that the regulation is not that strict and people can trade crypto easily. A lot of countries can fit this standard IMO, not only Indonesia.
1671  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: VoIP without KYC? on: February 20, 2023, 12:25:00 PM
Have you tried looking for it in the Services section, or made a request to buy with BTC for anyone who can provide it to you? I tried to search on the Marketplace but it seems like most of them are no longer active.

A search on Google gives me Freeje as an alternative. Some of their numbers require KYC, but they claim that others (numbers issued in countries that don't require one) do not need any documents to be activated[1]. Please research it on your own since I never tried their service myself. They also offer a Telegram bot for easy registration and top-up, but I believe some of them will still be subject to KYC if you need a number from a country that requires one[2].

I find them here btw[3], just in case you want to search more. Unfortunately, there is no "free KYC" filter so you have to manually check them out. You can also find some SMS phone numbers on KYCNot.me[4], just make sure to research them first.

1672  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which BTC/mining related stock seems most promising going forward? on: February 20, 2023, 12:00:14 PM
I'd suggest you buy graphic card manufacturer stock instead. Nvidia and AMD are definitely more valuable compared to mining companies. While you can argue that most of their price does not factor crypto as of now, judging from the past if there is a bull market or even a new coin that is minable with GPU, there is a chance that their revenue will increase and you can get more dividend, CMIIW. Obviously, this is just speculation, but imo it is arguably better than investing in a mining company stock that is way too volatile, and as others have mentioned, just buy Bitcoin if you don't want other alternatives.

If an exchange ever went public and sold its stock, maybe that is also a better option compared to a mining company. But I don't think they will ever do that since most of them sell their own tokens, and hold a ton of them so they can just dump to the market if they need more cash. At the end of the day, just buy Bitcoin to reduce any risk, don't gamble too much on crypto business stocks that are proven to be a terrible way to make money. CMIIW.
1673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Tokensniffer new tool you can use before investing in a New Token on: February 19, 2023, 03:34:01 PM
I can confirm that the website is accessible. They use Cloudflare as bot protection so I won't be surprised if some IP addresses/VPNs are blocked. There might be some server issues but I can't verify it. If anyone needs to use a similar service there is also Unicrypt, Fluidefi, Poocoin, etc. Make sure to do your own research before you use them.

The scoring system is quite arbitrary but at least they explain some key points in their analysis. Things as if a contract is verified or not, whether the contract ownership is renounced or not, etc. If anyone decides to use this tool, ignoring the scoring would be a better idea until they explain how the scoring works. You also need to be aware that the company behind this tool is famous for AML solutions so check their terms to see if they collect any personal data or not. Even if they said they don't collect personal info when somebody uses this, looking for open-source alternatives is a good idea.
1674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Buying a video card for the next mining season on: February 19, 2023, 03:13:27 PM
I have never seen a performance upgrade from the driver updates but those driver updates were requirements from the mining software like lolminer etc that needed the last driver to continue performing with the same stability and performance.
I don't know about gaming/rendering performance from the driver updates but for mining with Nvidia 2000 or 3000 series it is basically a set and forget experience even if you are running a not that stable operating system like Windows is and I am running my rig in Windows 10.
I see. Is there any reason why the mining software requires the latest driver if there is no performance improvement then? Can't they just continue developing on the stable version/previous version and then just release a new one if there a driver updates that change the performance/efficiency or something similar? Or do miners always update their GPU drivers so they have to always keep it up with them?

Of course, the developer of the miners writes which version of the drivers to use. Even in our forum section, some miners complained about the low hashrate until they thought of reading the readme file and updating the drivers. But the problem is that many developers do not optimize software for 1000 and 2000 series.
I can understand why they always optimize for the latest generation graphic cards since miners (at least the big ones) will buy the latest cards when it is available. Unfortunately, the same thing happens when it comes to gaming performance updates for older cards. It seems manufacturers like Nvidia and AMD are trying to push users to buy their latest cards and sacrifice their user satisfaction for short-term gain.
1675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: want To participate in bounties management: on: February 19, 2023, 02:30:47 PM
I used to work for one in the past. If I remember correctly they were running a bounty for anyone who spots a cheater on one of their campaigns. I found some and then propose to work for them to check other works/do other tasks. Have a good run with them for months until they stop doing bounty management when the bear market hit. I'd say your best bet if you don't have any connections with bounty managers or bounty team is to find an opportunity like that.

Building your reputation on this forum might also help when you apply since most team/managers would likely ignore you if you're just a newbie with a terrible reputation/post history. While I don't know the ins and outs of every management team, I'm pretty sure most of them don't want to hire someone who doesn't even make good posts/contribute to the forum in any way unless they know you beforehand, hence why connections are also important. You can try to build some networks anyway, as long as it is ethical and actually helpful. In fact, I know one or two members who manage to run their own campaign management just because a popular manager recommend them to one of their clients who can't afford a higher pay rate.

By building a connection, I don't mean spamming their dms, begging them to hire you, sending a large number of merits when they make a post about payment updates, or other unethical practices. I doubt they'll appreciate it if you do that in the first place. You can build a tool to make their bounty check easier, spot AI texts faster, or even work in a closely related business space such as designing signatures.
1676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: An advice to all Satoshi minners on: February 19, 2023, 01:11:49 PM
Do you really mean to say that Satoshi is also a shitcoin? Also, why do people take it seriously when others claim that Satoshi has more features than Bitcoin? Please provide more details.
There are so many coins/tokens being released with the same claims that they are better than Bitcoin or other popular coins, solve scalability issues, etc and sooner or later they end up dead due to lack of usage or just bad development in general. Some of them are just forks of one over another so their innovation is actually just releasing the same network under different names. At the end of the day, regardless of how cool your project is, if no one is using it then your coin is just another shitcoin waiting to die.

👍 Thanks you for not make me confused to deferential between Bitcoin amd other coin.
Beware of claims like "continuing satoshi legacy", "the real satoshi network", etc. Most of the time they just modify some parts of Bitcoin code and release it on their own after doing some premine so they can dump on other users when the coin gets a bit popular. You should read more about it so you can develop an awareness if a new project is trying to scam you. Some tokens also do things like this btw, so it is not exclusive to mineable coins. CMIIW.
1677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Best network to transfer USDT from Coinbase to Bitget on: February 19, 2023, 12:34:20 PM
But Im rarely withdraw from one exchange to another I think the best way is withdraw it to your local wallet fist
If the purpose is to move funds from one exchange to another, transferring to your own wallet is probably gonna add more fees. Trading to other coins and then withdrawing it directly would be better IMO. Sure it depends on liquidity and how fast your tx will be confirmed on the blockchain, but it is arguably faster and cheaper if other factors don't change that much. If you use an exchange that has very expensive withdrawal fees regardless of which network you use, maybe it is time to consider other platforms or use DEX.

first is What the option that coinbase has. For now, you can actually use any network including the ERC 20 the fee is relatively low since Ethereum turns into PoS if the Coinbase has TRC withdraw and Bitget had TRC deposit you can use it since TRC20 is dirt cheap fee.  Grin
What TRC are you referring to here? Is it Terracoin? I've tried to see if Coinbase supports them but it seems they don't. If you're referring to Tron, it seems like they don't support it either. They do list it on their browse crypto website but they don't list it on their exchange. Ethereum fee is still a bit expensive compared to other networks, they are still in a transition phase at the end of the day so don't expect much. CMIIW.
1678  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [Tutorial] BlueWallet - Bitcoin Wallet on: February 18, 2023, 03:36:44 PM
1679  Local / Altcoins (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: Adakah Mixer Untuk Altcoin? on: February 18, 2023, 03:13:36 PM

[1]. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/mining-botnet-targeting-redis-and-orientdb-servers-made-almost-1-million/
