Shhh! Kamala, you're not suppose to say this!

Flip flop on the border is funny but I can't say I'm surprised. Watching the radical left attack Kamala Harris over something so simple and common sense is also something I'm not surprised about. AOC had some words to say about this - https://twitter.com/AOC/status/1402041820096389124

Hmm, so to be clear -- it seems Harris now understands pandering to the far left is not the best strategy moving forward?

It's like she's just repeating what Biden said months ago, some nerve!

1664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI says it recovered $2 million in Bitcoin Ransomware payment... How? on: June 08, 2021, 01:51:14 AM
Talking about this with friends.  FBI doesn’t give any details, of course, but says they traced it to a Wallet and seized it.  How do you think they got it back?

Our theories are:

-Traced it to an exchange, Forced it to be turned over

It is also possible, the government is running a mixing service, and recovered the coin when the hacking group tried to launder the stolen coin via mixer.

The government specifically did not reveal how they recovered the coin. If they had not specifically kept this a secret, I would have speculated they seized the coin when they deposited it to an exchange.

I would find it fairly unlikely the government hacked the hackers, and very unlikely they were able to crack their private keys.

Seems plausible.  They would still need a seizure warrant, I assume, right?  I can't imagine the hackers would leave the money in an exchange, although it's possiblle it was part of their laundering plan.

I suppose it's also possible the FBI just seized some innocent guys money after the hackers exchanged it several times by now.

The seizure warrant was authorized earlier today by the Honorable Laurel Beeler, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of California.
...
As alleged in the supporting affidavit, by reviewing the Bitcoin public ledger, law enforcement was able to track multiple transfers of bitcoin and identify that approximately 63.7 bitcoins, representing the proceeds of the victim’s ransom payment, had been transferred to a specific address, for which the FBI has the “private key,” or the rough equivalent of a password needed to access assets accessible from the specific Bitcoin address. This bitcoin represents proceeds traceable to a computer intrusion and property involved in money laundering and may be seized pursuant to criminal and civil forfeiture statutes.

it is a lil funny how your version of events stopped at the tealeaf soaking and intolerable acts part... and you refrained from including any of the things about congress petitions to monarchy and other things.

To be clear, are you saying the petitions to the Monarchy were effective despite the Revolutionary War happening?

but hey if you think throwing 3 ships load of tea boxes into the sea was the only and sole cause of a civil war. maybe your missing a few pieces of critical info in the middle

I don't.  Of course I don't.  Please don't do that, lets have an honest conversation.

also funny how you feel the teaparty event of soaking tealeaves in the ocean caused positive change of laws.. whilst admitting that it was the opposite and ignored and caused a war instead.. which just sounds like flipfloping to me..

No, I'm not flip flopping.  I think protests are can be an effective way to make change, you don't.  Whether the change is positive or not, well, that's an entirely different argument.  I'm sure we could find a bunch of protests throughout history and agree that they had negative results and were a bad idea/negative for the world from the beginning.  I'm only arguing that civilian protests can be, and have been, an effective way to cause change and strongly against your view that they do nothing at all.

Quote
so. REAL history is
citizens and Whigs threw boxes in the sea. britain sent more boxes and demanded more taxes..
^summary of where your post ends
then
13 colonies got together and formed the first session of congress and petitioned the monarchy
then parliament backtracked

No, Britian didn't just send more boxes and demand more taxes.  They passed the "The Boston Port Act" where they basically shut down Boston Harbor (That was a really big deal).  This is the actual text from the act.  It's not media, revisionist or sensationalized by anyone.  It's Englands literal response to the Boston Tea Party, 3 months after the incident  (remember people had to sail across the ocean back then), and six months before the first continental congress:

Quote
The Boston Port Act

(March 31, 1774)

AN ACT to discontinue, in such manner, and for or such time as are therein mentioned, the landing and discharging, lading or shipping, of goods, wares, and merchandise, at the town, and within the harbour, of Boston, in the province of Massachuset's Bay, in North America.

WHEREAS dangerous commotions and insurrections have been fomented and raised in the town of Boston, in the province of Massachuset's Bay, in New England, by divers ill affected persons, to the subversion of his Majesty's government, and to the utter destruction of the publick peace, and good order of the said town; in which commotions and insurrections certain valuable cargoes of teas, being the property of the East India Company, and on board certain' vessels Iying within the bay or harbour of Boston, were seized and destroyed: And whereas, in the present condition of the said town and harbour, the commerce of his Majesty's subjects cannot be safely carried on there, nor the customs payable to his Majesty duly collected; and it is therefore expedient that the officers of his Majesty's customs should be forthwith removed from the said town: ... be it enacted ..., That from and after June 1, 1774, it shall not be lawful for any person or persons whatsoever to lade, put, or cause to procure to be laden or put, off or from any quay, wharf, or other place, within the said town of Boston, or in or upon any part of the shore of the bay, commonly called The Harbour of Boston, between a certain headland or point called Nahant Point, on the eastern side of the entrance into the said bay, and a certain other headland or point called Alderton Point, on the western side of the entrance into the said bay, or in or upon any island, creek, landing place, bank, or other place, within the said bay or headlands, into any ship, vessel, lighter, boat, or bottom, any goods, wares, or merchandise whatsoever, to be transported or carried into any other country, province, or place whatsoever, or into any other part of the said province of the Massachuset's Bay, in New England; or to take up, discharge, or lay on land, ... within the said town, or in or upon any of the places aforesaid, out of any boat, ... any goods, wares, or merchandise whatsoever, to be brought from any other country, province, or place, or any other part of the said province of the Massachuset's Bay in New England, upon pain of the forfeiture of the said goods, ... merchandise, and of the said boat, ... and of the guns, ammunition, tackle, furniture, and stores, in or belonging to the same: And if any such goods, ... shall, within the said town, or in any the places aforesaid, be laden or taken in from the shore into any barge, ... to be carried on board any ship or vessel outward bound to any other country or province, ... or to be laden into such barge, ... from or out of any ship or vessel coming in ... from any other country, such barge, ... shall be forfeited and lost....

X. Provided also, and it is hereby declared and enacted, That nothing herein contained shall extend, or be construed, to enable his Majesty to appoint such port, harbour, creeks, quays, wharfs, places, or officers, in the said town of Boston, or in the said bay or islands, until it shall sufficiently appear to his Majesty that full satisfaction hath been made by or on behalf of the inhabitants of the said town of Boston to the united company of merchants of England trading to the East Indies, for the damage sustained by the said company by the destruction of their goods sent to the said town of Boston, on board certain ships or vessels as aforesaid; and until it shall be certified to his Majesty, in council, by the governor, or lieutenant governor, of the said province, that reasonable satisfaction hath been made to the officers of his Majesty's revenue, and others, who suffered by the riots and insurrections above mentioned, in the months of November and December, in the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy three, and in the month of January, in the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy four.

When did stake decide that now Platinum 2 also doesnt have a VIP host and no reload?

First they take it from plat 1 and now plat 2 as well? And nobody is getting informed?

Pretty sure they didn't take it away from anyone, they changed the requirement to get it.  If you already have a host and reloads though, you won't lose them.
I think it just happened.

The problem is, I am platinum 1 and worked my ass off to get to plat 2 ( small % missing ) and now I see they changed it yet again without even notifying the players.

Now I missed out on getting a host/reloads for the 2nd time. Both times I thought I would get it until I saw they just changed it.

Yeah they definitely could've handled it better, like giving 3-6 months notice or something (or just hiring more vip hosts).  And they probably would've ended up getting more action if they did, not less.

But the way you phrased your post was as if they were taking perks away from players that had already earned them, which isn't the case.
1667  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think COVID19 is a scam? on: June 07, 2021, 09:05:35 PM
I think covid-19 is not a scam it is really a virus but the government and the people behind it politicize it, and they planned it, they manipulate the prices, from PPE, vaccine, facemask among others,   plus the fact that they continuously keep on telling people about the virus making people more afraid.

Of course it's not a scam. It's not a virus, either. Rather, let's say it as it is. It's murder... by certain people in Big Pharma, the medical, the government, and the media.

----

You are contradicting yourself. Its not a virus so how can that thing called COVID19 murder people?

Is it just a new element? is it a EM wave? or is it firearm weapon? kekw

Remember the movie "Conair," with Nicolas Cage? Remember John Malkovich in that movie? In the movie, Malkovich's character killed a bunch of people here and there. His character was called "Cyrus The Virus." Was his character a virus?

If Covid is called a virus, then it's a scam.
If Covid is called a scam, then it's the truth and not a scam.
If Covid is called a manipulation of the people by Government, the media, and the medical, then it's the truth and not a scam.

Covid being a scam depends on which thing you are calling Covid, and how you announce it to the people.

Cool

Yeah but covid-19 is actually a virus.  Well it's a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, which is a virus.  You know what I mean.
1668  Other / Politics & Society / Re: why revolutions and movements fail at their desired outcome on: June 07, 2021, 04:58:33 PM
the boston tea party events. were not where britain responded to the citizens of placard waving protests.. but instead the US government sending the british monarchy a petition (protest/resolution)

this is the legal method that got the British government to listen to the American government

What you're saying directly contradicts the consensus among historians.

There was no listening to the Colonists by the British.  Instead they passed a bunch of oppressive laws in hopes to force them into submitting known as The Intolerable Acts:

Quote
The Intolerable Acts (passed/Royal assent March 31 – 22 June 1774) were punitive laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 after the Boston Tea Party. The laws were meant to punish the Massachusetts colonists for their defiance in the Tea Party protest in reaction to changes in taxation by the British Government. In Great Britain, these laws were referred to as the Coercive Acts.

The acts took away self-governance and rights that Massachusetts had enjoyed since its founding, triggering outrage and indignation in the Thirteen Colonies. They were key developments in the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War in April 1775.

What are your thoughts on the Boston Tea party, the Stamp Act Riots or the American Revolution in general?
How about the Womens Suffrage Parade, Stonewall Riots, the 1963 March on Washington?

boston tea party
well history fades and media stories grow.
if you think that the american revolution was caused simply by spilling a few boxes of indian tea off the side of a boat.. then i should laugh.
things that led to the american revolution were far far deeper
such as ... the legal stuff. first congress.. petitioning british monarch
this led to war to sever ties with britain
so in short.. congress petitions war.. not civilians tipping tea boxes into the sea

stamp act riots
well what a coincidence.. the term of a stamp 'being franked' dawning from Ben franklin. .. well in 2012 i was interested in this subject and how US was trying to tax bitcoin.. thus inventively i chose franky1 as my username.. due to the stamp act stuff of franklin in the 1700's..
bitcoin has no representation. so taxation without representation is a big no no
oops i digressed
anyways back on subject
this was not 'riots'.. it was setting up committee's and strengthening US congress
the 13 colonies sent a petition (virginia resolves). which is not the same as protest (placards and picnics)
other things like in england lobbying began to repeal the stamp act due to the negative economic consequences the stamp act was causing.
.. i could go on. but alot of legal things occured. the citizen riots was just social drama

womans sufferage
well media history plays out of placards and picnics. but again lots of things were happening within government buildings.
for instance some women(with businesses) did get to vote and other women lobbied their local government representative to vote on their hehalf (advocate)

.. in short none of the items of question you asked changed due to placards and picnics

Congress reacts to protests.  Think of them as an escalated letter to congress.   In democracy, a protest is about making your voice heard  (not only to law makers, but also to other citizens).  Because US representative are elected every 2, 4, or 6 years, they would be foolish to simply ignore the protests, at least if they hope to be reelected.

The British responded to the Boston Tea Party directly with The Coercive Acts, basically the British decided to increase taxes even more which in turn gained more support for a Revolution, unifying the patriots.

This is why the founders (who were  were adamant about including the right to protest in the US constitution - so that Congress would be forced to listen and respond accordingly.  The civil rights act  is probably the best example of this.

Click the links, and go to the site to show the many other links.

Dude wtf.  Do you work for these fake news sites?

Do you actually bother clicking on them?

I find the ridiculousness fascinating, so sometimes, but I always try to resist since any traffic is support and I don't want to support the spread of misinformation.

It's been a while though, I think my last click was either about the pope being arrested or the "real" inauguration for Trump being on March 4.

I really do think there's a good chance BADecker is benefiting financially by posting the links though. He's one of, if not the most active members on bitcointalk.  And he mostly just posts garbage links.

Where can I see the winners of each weekly raffle?
If somebody has a link ~
You can see the winners list at Stake forum. Check the Giveaways section of Stake forum. They publish the winner list of each week with their prize link. Here is the winner of today ($100,000 giveaway winners #5)
If the list were provided with the number of raffle tickets each has accumulated over the weeks time will give a clarity on how big needs to be wagered to win in the event. There might be very few with small number of raffle tickets, who are the true lucky ones. If I'm not wrong every winner will be holding atleast 500 raffle tickets.

Maybe you're right but that's not a guarantee because this week we don't see whale players on the winners list Syztmz, Tavor777 and Oscar
I'm sure they've got thousands of tickets this week but it seems unlucky. Special for Oscar he gave $5000+ rain yesterday in chatroom so maybe he didn't expect to win  Grin

Knowing how many each person has won't give any clarity, all you need to know to know your chances are how many you have and how many there are.  Even if one person had all the other tickets, your chances would be the same.  (There were ~790k tickets this week)
1674  Other / Politics & Society / Re: why revolutions and movements fail at their desired outcome on: June 06, 2021, 03:42:33 AM
so many people wonder why, when they gather and protest. while they scream 'lets start a revolution', 'lets start a movement'.. the end result is nothing changes

the secret is not a secret. its literally explained in the names
a 'revolution' is a circular orbit. yes you might see seasonal changes. but given enough time it circles back to where it started

a 'movement' is just that. stand still and just bend an elbow.. that is a movement.

What are your thoughts on the Boston Tea party, the Stamp Act Riots or the American Revolution in general?

How about the Womens Suffrage Parade, Stonewall Riots, the 1963 March on Washington?

His proof of funds aren't adding up to 90% of the current listed bankroll as claimed.  His proof of funds addresses hold less than $50k usd worth of btc and eth.  Current bankroll is listed at several hundred thousand USD worth (haven't done the exact math).

Bitcoin balance: 1BTC
ETH balance: 4 ETH

So it all starts all over again... and again.... and again...

Will people really be so gullible enough to invest in that betking.io scam again? It is inevitable, both winners and investors will end up losing out but we all know who will pocket the cash.

He never promoted the website on this forum and I never, ever saw his website on any other crypto-related website, So here are my conclusions -
1. He contacted those people who invested there, personally.
2. People who invested there didn't get scammed on the website (Yet), So they're wagering their luck on invest.
3. Most likely that investment is the total Bankroll of his pathetic website and 90%+ Bankroll is funded by him which is shown in Invest tab and the staked address.

I think he got rekt somehow and lost most of the money he scammed before so he's up to tried and true methods of scamming with Innovative ideas along with Scummy intention.

He's promoted betking a ton on the forum.  This is just another version.  It looks like he wont anymore though, Jollygood gets most of the credit for that.

It looks like he's been spamming everyone on his mailing list, which goes back to something like 10 years to his first site, pocketrocketscasino about it.

He already confirmed the biggest investor so far is owed money from the "hack".

Luckily, it looks like the site is a ghost town.

He's itching to get those tokens back in play (from tg channel today):

Hey everyone. It's only been 5 days since we relaunched yet we've added a new feature or update every day. From more coins, updated bankroll and you've seen there's a new crash game coming.
There's a lot more planned but I'm trying to only announce or show things when they are almost ready and when some feedback would be good instead.

However, there is one thing I've been wondering and that is if we should integrate the old BKB tokens more in to the platform.....

Dean-BetKing.io, [04.06.21 19:37]
As you know, currently old token holders will have their BKB purchases refunded from the commission the site makes.
But that means they are just sitting in your wallet or account waiting on being refunded, which could be some time yet. and there's a cap on the value of them...

Dean-BetKing.io, [04.06.21 19:41]
Do you think we should do something similar to when we had EOS token and allow BKB to be used to claim bonuses, rakeback and be traded?
Maybe you have other ideas on actual valuable uses of the token?

I decided to launch without the token doing anything on the current site to keep things simple and not have any confusion of how investments work on the new site (i.e. people didn't need to buy a token).

But maybe it would be better to make it a feature. If anyone remembers the dividends and buyback model of the EOS token, it was pretty central to how the site works and you can see sites like BetFury doing the exact same things we were doing over 2 years ago now.

Dean-BetKing.io, [04.06.21 19:43]
I'd like to do some ideas I've got on Binance Chain too but I think it's too early or too much to introduce a 3rd token to the site yet, or at all maybe.

Good, we have the case studies -- now let's apply some critical thinking skills.

I've been applying critical thinking skills all along.  I think it's pretty clear that you've made up your mind about what 'the truth' is (which is a flawed way of thinking in itself) a long time ago, and the basis for your belief is grounded in politics, not science.  Let's back up and look at your response each of the four times I posted the same article.

I initially responded to you saying this:

Quote
The only research I found were laboratory simulated dummies exerting aerosol particles into a mask versus aerosol particles without a mask, which is something I or anyone else disputes. In some studies, they used real people, an example here - https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-020-72798-7

What we dispute about masks is whether viral spread occurs because people enter a store, sneeze on everyone, and leaves -- and that a mask would somehow solve the issue, or whether the virus spreads through more complicated mechanisms that aren't well understood. And this isn't even taking into account the issue of people reusing masks, touching the mask which presumably has viral particles on it, then touching other people/surfaces, cheap masks that don't create proper seals with the face, ect.

Sure, in a laboratory setting, you can create a circumstance where droplets are captured in a mask, the real world isn't so neat and tidy.

I responded with a list of studies and articles, and you responded:

Quote
Your 10 seconds of google searching isn't a replacement for quality studies that account for real world factors, I had a feeling you knew that though. I clicked on the nature article you linked, because it's a credible journal, and they posted a study that was identical to what I said earlier, a laboratory setting where masks are used to measure the spread of aerosol particles in a controlled setting. Covid spread is not that simple, don't know how many times I need to say it. It was just two months ago when the CDC revised its social distancing guidelines from 6 feet to 3 feet. It was 4 months ago when they said it was 15 minutes in totality for high risk transmission, not just 15 minutes of sustained contact. We've been at this for over a year and we barely know anything. We don't know the exact mechanism of "super spreaders" either.

And I responded...

Quote
Cool, click on another one then, try this one? https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2776536

Read the abstract, check out the table with all the different studies and results
...and don't just bring up one study that you think is easiest to discredit and then use it to discredit all of them.  Look at the results of all the studies as a whole. I'm not going to keep holding your hand and do all the research for you.  It's obvious the evidence clearly points to masks being effective.  We're still learning new stuff and we don't know precisely how effective, but that doesn't mean they aren't effective.

And then, without reading the article, you said:

Quote
I didn't say masks were not effective, I'm saying they are virtually useless in stopping asymptomatic spread in the general population.

This is an important point.  You had clearly come to a conclusion, And it's now clear you didn't even bother reading the article (as I'm about to show).

In my response I linked the article again, and this time I copy pasted part of the abstract and explained that there were about a dozen studies included in the article.

And your reply included:

Quote
You're linking me to laboratory studies which refer to aerosol particle spread when people are "loud speaking", was one of the phrases your links used. Find me a single study that take into account real world factors of the issue of people reusing masks, touching the mask which has viral particles on it, then touching other people/surfaces, cheap masks that don't create proper seals with the face, etc. It doesn't exist.

These weren't laboratory studies.  They were real world studies.  If you read the article, I don't think you would have said what you did.

So then I literally took a screen shot of the table for you, from the article I posted 4 times for you, basically forcing you to look at it, and you come back with:

Quote
Good, we have the case studies -- now let's apply some critical thinking skills.

Now, instead of coming back with accusations of me taking things out of context since I didn't parse every word either of us wrote, how about you go read what the most qualified experts in the field think about masks and how they interpret the data.  Don't look for the one off anti-masker with a phd, or pull a tvbcof act like you're more educated on the subject than they are.  Forget all your preconceived notions about masks and just read what the scientists behind these studies with current leading rolls in their field think.  Then you'll have applied critical thinking skills.

here's a more recent study (it's really based on about 12 separate studies, that I've already posted for you)  from Feb 2021 (this is the third time I've linked it for you): https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2776536
