This coin is buried somewhere around the 500 rank.  Most people who are going to Prestonwood, Stonebrier or much smaller churches have no idea about this coin and its mandate.  They aren't spending their evenings scanning coinmarketcap looking for a charity coin.

Do you have any marketing ideas?

An acquaintance posted about BiblePay on a few Christian Facebook groups but they werent interested.

Even a lot of really smart people (even a lot I know personally) think Cryptocurrencies are a ponzi scheme still.

===

I really like this coin because its max supply is 5 billion by 2050, so there is still a lot of time for people to get into it.

We need a good way to educate people about Cryptocurrencies. It will happen in time on its own, but will take time...

We are the 1st users, the testers, the techies, we are the early adopters.

Has anyone been able to deposit USD into a C-CEX account? I've tried to buy C-CEX codes at the 3 websites they have listed, but one is offline and the other two are very sketchy about the process. Also, the Payeer deposit method doesn't provide service to US citizens.

Id recommend Coinbase:  https://www.coinbase.com/

or GDAX (same company as Coinbase but less fees):  https://www.gdax.com/

And buy Bitcoin there and then transfer it to C-CEX:  https://c-cex.com/?p=bbp-btc

Im kind of neutral on the 2MB block size debate, I will always prefer long term solutions vs short term,
but really cool to see the DASH Governance model in action!

Interesting trading day
Volume today is above 2.13 BTC or >15,000.  Price hasn't moved much. The chart says it got up to 16 sat but I don't see it in the tape; just between 9-12

I wish I could see full trading history on c-cex:  https://c-cex.com/?p=bbp-btc
Id be interested to see what happened as well, but it looks like someone bought many millions of coins  Shocked Huh Cool

My limited understanding is that the Bitcoin Segwit2x fork was cancelled today, and money is flowing back out of Bitcoin into other coins today

Our logo contest has ended and the popular design was chosen and I have reviewed the files to ensure they meet the wallet technical requirements and they passed in test and the contest has been approved for payment.

The files have been uploaded here if anyone needs a copy for a project:

Also, what will the total supply be in the end?

http://wiki.biblepay.org/Emission_Schedule

Approximately 5 Billion Coins in about 40 years.

As far as Masternodes (Sanctuaries) go, it's still up in the air, but the number talked about recently was 1.1 Million.  There is also discussion of a concept of a Super-Masternode (Cathedral) which I'm trying to write a short white-paper on.
Curious, why so high? For example Dash has a total supply of around 20 million dash, and one masternode is 1000. With the same ratios you should have around 250 000 for one sanctuary.

Ive heard dev say between 500,000 and 1,100,000 BBP for masternode/sanctuary,
Ive also heard that he wants cost to to be about $500 for one by Christmas.

So I think in general, its all still very much up in the air and we still have time to discuss/persuade,
But Id collect as many as you can to be ready!

The other is, the Christmas release is the next big milepost and it's asking a lot of the Dev to develop and try to get listed, knowing there will be a new wallet version that has to be pushed out.

id like to be involved in wallet work. where is this being organized ?

One thing "hurting" the price in some regards is the huge bull market of BTC.  So it appears on some hands that we're losing a lot of ground because we're in the 10 range, but the 10 satoshi range is roughly equal to the 15 satoshi range for BTC at about $4500.

So if you look at the "cash" value, we're not too far off of where we were a few months ago, which given the limited market that C-Cex has, is not to be unexpected.

I like to look at this chart to see BiblePay value in USD

Basically to me, BiblePay is a combination of:

DASH
- percentage of mined coins go back into funding the project, bootstrapping itself
- masternodes (sanctuaries) give ability to vote on direction / project proposals, and adds instant send and private send abilities

VERTCOIN (VTC)
- gpu / asic resistance, to combat centralization of mining seen in Bitcoin

CHARITY
- 10% of mined coins will always go towards a charity

RELIGION/CHRISTIANITY

You can buy BiblePay (BBP) on the C-CEX exchange for Bitcoin:  https://c-cex.com/?p=bbp-btc

Im sure there are projects you could work on for BiblePay and get paid in coins

Once sanctuaries (masternodes) are up and running I believe 5% of mined BBP coins will be going to fund the BiblePay team, so you could join the team:  https://www.reddit.com/r/BiblePay/comments/75hozh/slack_team/

Talking about a logo brings up deep questions about the project
just some questions to stir thought:

is this a Religious coin or a Charity coin or both?
And if religious, is it only or mainly Christian?
(The source code has the King James Bible inside of it)

What symbols represent the project?
Letter B? BBP? BiblePay?
Cross? World/Globe? Bible? Helping Hands? Heart?
Dove? Angel? Children?

For those not aware, we have sponsored a logo contest at Freelancer.

The contest entry phase has now closed.  We have 14 days to select a winner. Most of the entries are for JUST a logo, and not the complete package, so I will get in touch with Freelancer to determine how we can get additional material guaranteed with the prize money.  So the following link is the pool to select from what I think are the eight front runners (I'd have liked to had 10 but eight is the limit).  Many of the front runners submitted multiple designs with various tweaks and most seemed receptive to changes.

Go, vote and lets see if we have a new logo!

If you'd like to donate BBP to help defray the costs, my donation address is BGtF8NTiUF3cTMJ62Ps7G1wtYU7sD5nkvG but please give feedback on the contest without feeling any obligation.

From Freelancer I like 446 and 427 the most, but I like our original logo the best so far  Grin

Is there coming a faucet for biblepay?

Ill add one to the pool and give away 100 bbp per ip address.

If anyone feels like running one that is already written, go for it also if you feel like it Smiley
Faucet is live.

EDIT: Ill up the payout later once I see this is safe.

EDIT2:  I made the faucet available from the outside world also (accountability.biblepay.org) so people can paste in PR blogs.

Dev recently released a (Personal?) faucet:

POOL

I think there are at least one maybe two other people working on setting up other pools,
Rob released the pool source code about 3 days ago: https://github.com/biblepay/BiblePayPool

LETTER WRITING

I think it took me a few minutes to write a letter, I used the other approved letters as examples, I was in the same boat and had no idea what to say.
Letters also have to be upvoted to be sent, so that should filter out low quality letters.

I agree that letter writing is probably not known about by most pool miners, so there is definitely room to improve on communicating with miners about it,
like the help guide tab mentioned, or even like a link next to the letter writing fee.

I also think the letters table could use some filtering capabilities and maybe by default hide already approved and sent letters.

Overall I don't think its too harsh of a requirement, a few minutes every 2 months to potentially help make a kid feel cared for.
[Keep in mind, some of these kids only have 1 parent or no parents (parent(s) abandoned them or died)]

The Questions to Think About:
Why are we writing letters?
How do we motivate people to write letters? (carrot vs stick)
Why only pool miners penalized for not writing letters? Should solo miners also have to write letters?
How do we better inform/communicate users about letter writing?
How do we motivate people to upvote and downvote letters?

RETIREMENT COINS (rBBP)

I think the retirement coins ideas is interesting, Im still a bit confused about its utility/purpose (and I think most others will be confused) but I think I just need to re-read and let it stew in my brain some more. A lot of people love NEO and it has something called Gas, Ive never looked into it yet.

Interesting things I've seen recently for other coins:
- TOR wallet for Vertcoin
- Web Browser mining of Monero

Help us Test Sanctuaries! (Masternodes)

HELP NEEDED FOR SANCTUARIES for Christmas go live:

Ive been doing a little testing over the last few days for the upcoming sanctuaries.  I discovered I will need a lot of help otherwise we cant go live with sanctuaries.

We need at least 8 or so testers in the sanctuary thread (the thread does not exist yet).  Im going to deprioritize the news testing thread, and create a sanctuary thread and post it here by the end of the day, and lets focus on testing in that thread otherwise, we wont have a chance of going live at Christmas.

There are a lot of variables, and here are some, that need worked out:

- Testing requires linux - because windows will not run watchman on the wall (thats the decentralized sanctuary database)
- Testing requires 500,000 bbp to be sent to the new testnet masternode (actually send more, so you have extra first) - this is not the final amount to run a sanctuary, its the testnet amount
- Testing requires an external open IP, IE you need to be able to run with the firewall port 40001 open
- Testing needs to have the latest version of BBP compiled from source

As you can see this is a complicated endeavor and therefore requires a lot of help to get this working properly by Christmas.

If you want to get started you can do the above and sync the node up in testnet and then you will be almost ready to help.
The reason I cant do this myself is there are security rules in place that hang up on other sanctuaries if certain conditions are not met, and they cant be disabled.  One particular rule is dont accept inbound connections from sanctuaries unless the mnsync status is 999, and that will fragment the network.  IE we need more than 4 or so synced nodes to test this properly.  Also, the governance qurorum is going to require a few synced sanctuaries in order for us to test voting on the fake proposal.  The fake proposal will have the orphanage budget in it, etc.  Otherwise, I cant see the votes.

Here it is, lets move the Sanctuary testnet conversation here :

One addnode is : node.biblepay.org

You should be able to hit 'telnet node.biblepay.org:40001'

One thing I've never completely understood is how sanctuaries will be implemented. When they are established, how exactly will selections be made on which nodes become Sanctuaries? Is it a matter of putting in a stake?

I believe in the past the dev has said that a person will need 700,000 BiblePay coins to run a single masternode, I think its currently set to 500,000 in the code
Dev plans to go live on masternode functionality in December of this year
(Note: I think he has been calling masternodes sanctuaries)
