A end of year santa rally would be nice right about now, not liking these 40s, 50s is where its at.

I think it is unlikely. This end-of-month is the mother of all end-of-month events, and the landscape has already bears spotted around. Endure my friend, endure. I promise the reward will be sweet.

Well let me remind u not so long ago everybody and his dog was waiting for the moonshot, new ATHs and six digits. So did it happen? Honey badger doesnt care. It doesnt do what everybody expects it to do.  Cool

Actually more frequently it does the opposite...

Why does the guy have 3 huge dildos in his room? Also, they're neither green nor red. Perhaps he just colors them depending on his mood? If he's bullish he paints them green and if he's bearish red?  Grin

The central bank is now in talks with market players and experts about a possible ban.

I bet these "market players" and "experts" own crypto themselves so it's very unlikely they will ban anything.  Cool

Russian Ban:

Russian cenbank to seek ban on investment in cryptocurrencies, sources say

Quote
MOSCOW, Dec 16 (Reuters) - The Russian central bank would like to ban investments in cryptocurrencies in Russia, seeing risks to financial stability in the rising number of crypto transactions, two financial market sources close to the central bank said.

Bitcoin is dead.
Next 24h are critical.
Confirmed.

OMG we're screwed this is the end of it... haha NOT! HODLers not affected!  Cool

Why? Because it is completely arbitrary and does not accomplish what is intended.
Assume several scenarios:
1. A visitor from out of state was traveling, went to piss past a purple post. He/she has no idea, thinks that it is some kind of a decoration-bam, wham. Not exactly the same, but in Florida a nice Japanese student visitor was killed through the door when he was simply participating in Halloween celebration.
2. A local drunkard drove his truck past the "signs", went out to do #1 as well...bam..wham!

In both cases, those who do the shootin' would be dragged through the courts, charged with manslaughter, and even IF they prevail, it is DEFINITELY not worth it if lives were not REALLY in danger.
Protect the property? Well, bears and rabbits shit on your property daily with no recourse..well maybe they got shot too from time to time, which is fine.

Additionally, assume scenario #2 happened. If the guy/gal who was shot in this scenario was also local, you would NEVER be safe.
His or her relatives...they got 'them telescope rifles as well, don't ya think?

Again, shooting mere trespassers is not legal in any case. Urban legends, old wives tales and the fact that you would probably get away with it if you weren't completely stupid notwithstanding. It's merely supposed to be a no trespassing sign. Though I do agree that it's really not very good from the point of view of someone who has never heard of this totally non-obvious custom.

By the way, I do recall reading that there were other parts to the Japanese student (though I think that was Texas) that were not being reported (quelle surprise) which, while not making the event particularly better, do shine a different light on things.

If I'm not wrong Texas has a law that let's you kill anyone entering your property uninvited after dark.
If I recall correctly the couple that shot the Japanese student did shout "freeze" several times and he did not stop, and it was after dark.

Edit: i see now that it didn't take place in Texas so that law obviously wasn't applicable.

You are generally correct, however.  Texas does have this law.

And it is a tremendously civilized position in my opinion.  When you live in the country and come under a threat you MUST be able to defend yourself.  No one wants to be in that position.  And no one with any sense wants to carry the fact that they did ultimate hard to another human, even if justified.  But no one is going to be able to come to your aid if you are threatened miles away from any eve rough civilization, so you carry that responsibility yourself.

I have known a lot of country folks.  And they are, for the most part peaceful and kind.  They would help a stranger who came for help. But if you live out in the middle of nowhere and have someone come on your property uninvited (particularly at night), and then they do not respond to commands to halt...  Well there comes a point where the only sensible move is force.  It's known as Castle Law, or Doctrine.  And it is quite sensible in my opinion.

I agree with you, I only wish we had that law in Sweden.

What for? I've been to Sweden it looks literally the most peaceful country in the world. And trust me: you don't want to shoot at people. I served as a police officer for 4 years in 2003-2007.  Sad

Here is my 2c about that "purple" posts and shooting those who went past them.
In short, it is idiotic, imho.

Your idiot opinion has been noted.

... exquisite response to the triggerred liberal

... but pretty sure your purple-marked posts need to be some colour other than purple for the bottom 3-5 feet

... I can bring over a tin of black paint and a brush and we'll get to work painting your black bottoms? .... Or is it bottoms black?

Surely the rest of the post would be blue, green, yellow, orange, red for maximum F.U. factor?

I'd leave a good length of each post unpainted (bare metal), for the occasional bareback rusty pipe treatment.

Haha yeah ol' good rusty pipe is much better than a bullet... gets it's job done perfectly...  Grin

Yea, it was not Florida, but Louisiana.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Yoshihiro_Hattori
The defendant (shooter) stated that japanese guy/boy was 'moving erratically' and did not "freeze". I guess, he did not know that it means "stop immediately".
In the criminal trial-not guilty, in the civil, liable with $650K damages.

I have no idea why somebody would like to shoot someone obviously not posing any threat, not behaving aggressively or openly carrying a firearm. Sick.

Ok, I'm posting a cat picture.

Or not.

So no it works again, This is a weird day for me.

Arrie!  It has a red dildo in the foreground, damnit!

Looks more like a red buttplug (on a handy stick for sitting on) Cheesy

You had to go there?

I see a pussy pic and you see..

oh well...

Don't put me to fault here, JJG.
A close friend of mine had a very disturbing, traumatizing experience two decades ago.
I can only tell so much that one of our friends in his bathroom and a toilet brush were involved.
Trust me, you don't want to know and i don't want to recall the images i made up in my mind too often when he told me the story.
Only thing i can say is that i have to think of this certain event whenever i see things on a thin stick.
So, yes, i'm sorry but my subconsciousness made me go there...  Angry

This time PlanB isn’t on point anymore, but I expected him to fall of the rails sooner or later with the S2F chart… it still is an interesting model, but nothing follows an exact model….

I recall PlanB said that a model is a model because it will break for sure at some point in time.
He was about sure that S2F will break next cycle, maybe even within the currrent one.
So, seems he was right in the end.

My doc once told me to use 50-100cm of very thick electric cables (like the ones that run into a house) instead of a baseball bat. He said the bat slips down the bone and doesn't crack it, while the installation cable winds around bones and makes sure they crack nicely (also seems to hurt a bit more). Trusting my doc on this and got myself some fat cables from my electrician friend Grin

OMG I guess you're called psycodad for a reason...

My inquiring mind now torments itself about the question if it is because I seek to break bones of a criminal burglar looking to steel my valuables or if it is because I see a doctor that also gives unconvential security advice in the first place ??

Actually, I am named after Alfred Bundys western hero, though it comes from a time when logins were restricted to 8 chars, hence the omission of the grammatically correct ch.

Everything that's behaving like a spring does even better. The floret (thin sword for fencing) makes use of this effect.
Any thin, springy stick made of steel will work. It's the whiplash-type acceleration that makes bones crack with less power effort.
Never tried a metal spring, like the ones used on big trampolines, but they should work as long as you are prepared for the hit along the length of the spring, when it's slapping back again. Once there was a "defense tool", which was basically a 1 foot long metal spring with a small iron ball at the opponents end. It got banned for a reason.

Me, I wasn't that lucky unfortunately so I'll just stay here for a while. I have raised all my sell orders from ~50k to 80k a while ago (some WOers clairvoyant granny's prediction remember?  Grin).

I think it was 600Watt?

That's right, it was him! Btw haven't seen him here for a while...  Cool

On purple paint, I haven't looked it up but have unofficially heard that it may need to be 12 inches, top to bottom to be legal. I've seen a lot of guys just throw an old tyre over a fencepost, and paint that.

For our ranch, the pipe posts every 100 ft were entirely painted purple from top to bottom.

Big, tall, girthy, permanent, tornado-resistant, heavy metal pipes, dipped in purple paint; top-to-bottom.

Really stands out nicely against the natural greens and browns in that area.

Can't miss it!

Much more efficient than "No Trespassing" signs that tend to be shot at by passing-by drivers, or end up in need of repair/replacement at some point.

Purple, thick metal posts will outlive us both, for when the nieces and nephews inherit the place.

The saying out here, I've discovered, is roughly "Once the fences go up, all the problems tend to just go away"

People get a bit strange when multi-generational structures get torn down and renewed.

Fuck me for building them a new fence, right?

*shurg*

EDIT: Example drone shots from the ranch border showing how the purple pipes are laid out.

You should have used rusty pipes instead man! Looks much more scary!  Grin

Unless you're working cattle or building rodeo chutes, lots of modern fence is just little metal T-posts, stretched with woven or barbed wire. Not many square inches to the post.

According to the internet

"According to Central Texas Geocachers, to act as a “No Trespassing” sign, purple paint markings in Texas “must be: vertical, at least 8 inches long, at least 1 inch wide. [The] bottom of the mark should be between 3-5 feet above the ground. Markings can be no more than 100 feet apart in timberland. Markings can be no more than 1,000 feet apart on open land, [and] they must be in a place visible by those approaching the property.”"

Okay I believe you but my tommy gun don't!  Grin

It's probably all normal and stuff, but all these stories about "red" posts, trespassers, etc. made me less interested in buying a ranch, sorry.
The lake-that's another story...eventually.

Lakes tend to be on land too. Honestly, I'm not sure what I'd do. Taking care of property is a PITA.The little I've got is annoying enough. Maybe I should own nothing and be happy (I wouldn't be).

Only if you're not rich enough to pay someone else do it.  Grin

{various predictions]
BTW as for cycle predictions hah with holy covid there is no cycle.

It seems that several times we have seen these kinds of errors that seem so inclined to suggest that cycles are gone.. when they are not even gone, yet... in other words, ongoing premature assertions regarding the death of the cycle..

I'll believe it when either I see it or I see actual evidence beyond bald assertions..

This is so true. Good point. Let's wait and see. It ain't over until it's over.  Cool

Yeah, this spring/summer dump to $29k for example. Let alone covid flash crash! Like real black swan events that would mindrust the shit out of you and your stash!  Grin

I sold 25% of my stash between $65,000 down to $53,800.
You might wonder why I typed it that way round, it’s because I started selling at $60,000 to $65,000 & clearly expected to see $100,000 plus this year. It hasn’t & doesn’t look like it will happen now. Any way, when we started dumping from there I panicked a bit & sold more, the last batch as low as $53,800 on the day they announced a new bull shit covid variant.

I was kicking myself for panicking a bit. It’s not looking too dumb now   Cool

I took significant, life changing (to an extent) fiat out & now I don’t regret it at all. If we go much, much lower I will hoover up cheap coins. If we don’t then whatever, I am set for life now. Totally chilled until the next halvening & beyond.

Congrats! Another WO bro set for life and got his life changed by Bitcoin. You've joined the glorious cohort of WOers on FIRE (financial independence retire early). Bawb, Jimbo etc... ranches and lakes...  no bitterness here I really adore you guys and hope to join you one day Cool

Agree.
