1761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Trade On Cowswap Without Having Native ETH on: October 23, 2023, 06:18:54 AM
I've had situations when I had a token on Ethereum that I wanted to trade but didn't have ETH to pay for gas fees, and during times when ETH was at 3-4K USD and network congested, it was hassle to get ETH since if you'd try to convert from other coin/token to ETH, you were paying hefty fees on instant exchanges since the receiving chain was ETH.

Even to withdraw from cexes the withdrawal fees used to be 0.01 ETH, even at current prices that's $17.

Albeit Ethereum gas prices are much low now and no congestion either, but I'm sure this will turn out much useful during congestion times and when ETH booms again.

Although this is limited to certain tokens, you can see the list here, I still found it useful, may be you will too.

1762  Local / India / Re: Discussing about Bitcoin to Friends and Relatives. on: October 23, 2023, 05:16:56 AM
I discuss with my friend, he got one airdrop with decent amount of money, got into margin trading, made good profits, since he's pretty talkative and outgoing, many friends and neighbors came to know about crypto through him as well.

My relatives are safe with their FDs, they ask sometimes about advise and want to investment in crypto, but I do not suggest them, I'd usually say, "whatever you invest, consider it already lost", they don't go further. I'm not that confident in myself with investments that I'd suggest others.

Much of my successes are due to luck, I try not to consider myself responsible for them.

Shami Got five wicket haul in his first match itself so I think this is enough why he should be played in the playing XI over Takur.
There is no debate about who the better bowler is, Shami would be a permanent fix if India had the luxury to pick the 3rd pacer and Shardul Thakur gives some stability to the tail and even in this match, if India losses one more wicket, the weak tail is exposed and New Zealand have a chance to turn things around.

Shami can bat tho and his world cup hauls are nothing sort of impressive. He's one of top 5 Indian wicket takers while playing less matches than his peers of different eras.

1764  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: October 23, 2023, 04:36:15 AM
India showed their class in this match and proved that they can come back in the match through responsible batting even down the order.

I wouldn't say so, it only happened cause Kohli was there. Had he gone out and Surya, Jadeja brought the victory — a proper down order batsmans, then your statement would be correct.

Quote
The only sad part of the match was that Virat Kohli was not able to complete his century. He really deserved the century, didn't he?

Ofc he did, I don't feel sad tho, he'll complete it soon enough.

I hope Shami will play in all future matches (he's sure to play next next one with this match's performance), was always wondering since start of WC why he wasn't being played. I didn't know his stats before, but during last game they showed and his performance is lit, he's one of top 5 wicket takers in WCs while playing less matches than his contemporaries.

Hardik will likely be back next game, Surya is probably go back to bench again.

Who else finds this requirements from casinos BS?
Besides, it's just a 1x requirement, I wonder what will be your reaction at x2 turnover although I'm sure at most, it's just a 1x.

Yea, it was 1x. I did complete it and was able to withdraw.

In my opinion, this is no longer about money laundering, but about forcing people to play until they lose everything and there are a very small number of people who will be able to make withdrawals. stake is one of the few good casinos where withdrawals have a very low value and don't have these high and absurd wagering requirements, which is why I consider them to be the best casino.

Obviously, the higher the deposit, the more time you will need to spend to reach the turnover even if it's an x1.

Where's the forcing of the users on that part if in the first place, that would be expected?

It's expected from experienced users, I know they write in TnC, naive of me to not read it but I feel it would have been better had it been written somewhere obvious that one is required to wager their deposit before they can withdraw their deposited money, possibly on deposit page itself.

Quote
It's like when you deposit $100, you are able to turn it into $200 within just a few spins and you will withdraw right away. I doubt any casinos will allow that.

You are saying as if gambling provides surefire win, there is equal chance to lose that $100 as well.
1767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD! on: October 22, 2023, 05:03:32 PM
Even tho, India won, Indian batting suddenly seemed not enough. I wanted to see some of Surya — he has yet to prove himself in ODI format but was disappointed to see his out, hopefully he'll get one more chance.

Match was competitive as expected, NZ fielding was so good. Except India if I were to choose the team to win the world cup, that'd be NZ.

Kohli's to-be 49th ODI hundred yet to be done, will keep everyone on the edge for innings to come.
1768  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD! on: October 22, 2023, 01:09:30 PM
NZ's RR remained same even in death overs, where you'd usually expect hard hitting. Mitchel despite being a settled batsman, couldn't do much damage. Shami was brilliant.
1769  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Without power, how many years can a hardware wallet retain data? on: October 22, 2023, 01:00:37 PM
I didn't know humidity could break it, summers here go 40+ degrees.

How do you generally store your Ledger? Is it out in the open and exposed to the humidity or do you perhaps have any protective cases/boxes that protect against it?
Have you noticed any other failures in any other electronic devices in your home?

It was in it's own box up up until I configured it ~6 months ago, since then it's been out in open. No other electronic device damage.

I'll be careful with next devices, was completely oblivious that such thing could happen.

Thanks to this thread, at least the cause was revealed to me.

NZ caught up real well after losing two early wickets. I feel this where England went wrong yesterday, if you wanna make big score or chasing it, you don't necessarily go guns blazing starting first over. Teams either go under pressure and eat up unnecessary balls or try to hit each ball and get out, the latter happened with England.

Jadeja's catch drop was unexpected, but he recouped it in other games where he did unimaginable breakthroughs  Grin

1771  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Are chances of fraud very high on Binance P2P transactions ? on: October 22, 2023, 08:54:46 AM
That depends on exchange again, platform I was scammed on was local p2p exchange, they couldn't do much about it and eventually shrugged off. I dunno how much and what data binance p2p asks.
Local exchanges will usually be more concerned about fraud.
At my local exchange, there was a hack on an account used by a customer, but it didn't get a serious response initially,
but when it was brought up to the media they did investigate, and the hacker was caught.

The point is that local p2p will usually respond more quickly if there is a lot of pressure so that the case will be investigated.

Well the thing is there was blanket ban on cryptocurrency trading back then, banks were ordered by central bank to not do business with crypto individuals. Hence, people were forced to use p2p, now things have gotten somewhat better as ban has been lifted and people can trade normally, somewhat cause now there is 30% tax on crypto earnings, lol.

So I figure this could this be a reason my ledger nano S is having screen malfunctioning. I got it years ago, but only started using it recently.
So, you never checked if it was working properly back when you bought it? It might have shipped like that or moisture got to it if you live in a humid climate.

Nope, never checked it then, I won it from a contest couple years back so it wasn't need per se so that I'd purchase and start using it instantly.

Configured it for the first time 6 months or so ago, it was fine then however now, it's all brightness is gone, need pitch black area to see anything, even then letters appear broken.

I didn't know humidity could break it, summers here go 40+ degrees.

They also have complete data and can detect who the scammer is.

My colleague frequently deals on binance p2p, his tip is, stick to reputed buyers/sellers even tho rates might be less. Scammers lure often by greed.
But you need to know that every time you transact in P2P, make sure to see whether the balance has been sent or not to the account,
if not, never press the Release button.
When nothing is sent until the payment time expires you can report the merchant and give negative feedback.

That's obvious thing but If you were scammed, what will happen is that even if you did press release button only after receiving the funds, you will get chargeback and 0 funds for selling your coins. If something like this happens to you, do remember to give that buyer negative feedback so others don't get scammed as you did.

I will like to discuss this how long do you spend doing research for a particular topic before making your post or do you have a glimpse of the subject matter get a good summary of it and then start a conversation or quality research is done followed by reviews before engaging in  a conversation?

If I'm having practical experience of subject, I'd directly write whatever flows through my brain. If I am having incomplete knowledge, I'd search first, would give priority to individual responses from forums/reddit over websites/blogs because they tend to be unbiased until doubts are cleared.

I have heard that some scammers are making fake accounts on Binance for P2P and using hacked bank accounts for transfer. If we deal with them for P2P deals, our bank accounts can also get feezed. Have you ever faced this problem on Binance ? How can we reduce the chances of getting affected by this ?
I would imagine that someone using the method you mentioned would get caught quickly. I mean, for how long could someone use a bank account account that's not his?

Yeah, scammer would probably be able to use victim's bank account once or may be few times but deed is done, no? Also, scammers would likely have multiple such accounts lined up.

Something similar happened to me few years ago, this was the process:

Scammer creates a buy order, they have unsuspecting victim lined up with his bank details who is going to send money to seller or scammer sends it themselves if they got the access, scammer sends the money from victim's bank account, seller confirms that he received the money and p2p platform gives up the custody of coins because seller gave the confirmation that he received the amount, scammer gets the coins. Now, after few days seller gets chargeback from the victim's bank account that he was duped into sending money, seller loses the coins and his money received also gets freezed.

This is exacty what happened to me few years ago. It wasn't binance p2p but local p2p exchange.

My colleague frequently deals on binance p2p, his tip is, stick to reputed buyers/sellers even tho rates might be less. Scammers lure often by greed.

Thanks for bringing out the name, I never had Polygon USDT so I don't think I will ever try them unless they have BTC in their supported currency.

It's easy to convert BTC to Polygon USDT if you really want to try out the platform tho (via instant exchanges), you will probably pay 1$ extra for the whole process.
1779  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥 Smashy.gg - Decentralized Solana Casino on: October 22, 2023, 01:05:58 AM
Welcome to the forum, when I saw the title I thought: your casino only has a deposit option for Solana only. I hope I'm wrong, now if I'm right that your casino only has the option to deposit solana, I highly doubt that this will cause many people who have other cryptocurrencies to exchange for solana to go play at your casino when they can play at other casinos that have the option to deposit the cryptocurrencies they have in their wallet. Another point is what your casino has to offer that other casinos don't yet have and that is what would make you have many customers or no customers.

For some, being on-chain and open source is enough reason to use the casino. Using those centralized 'licensed' casinos where your can't withdraw your own funds before you wager your deposit 1x? no thanks.

When you look at things from this angle it appears that licensed casinos are villains or that governments are villains and it appears that decentralized casinos have no disadvantages. But things aren't that simple. in a decentralized casino with the knowledge that minors are playing in the casino? How do you stop criminals from stealing money and using the casino to launder money? This would be a very difficult mission and besides, in decentralized casinos, how would they be operating without government rules? In every country there are laws, even if we hate them, these laws are at some point in our favor, they are not always our enemies

That's why governments have laws about casinos and all casinos must respect these laws and when a casino operates without a license, then it is breaking these laws, it starts to operate illegally, it is committing a crime and the risk of it being learned and being accused of operating without a license and money laundering is a big risk, this can happen, and do you know what the worst part of all this would be? and when governments arrest unlicensed website operators and accuse them of money laundering, they sentence the website operator to many years in prison, without bail, without the possibility of serving part of the sentence and the other remaining free. So in my opinion it's not worth it for someone to create and operate a casino without a license

You may be right but what I meant with my statement was there is playerbase for both types of casinos. Myself like on-chain casinos because there is minimal third party interference, if that's not the case with you and you drift more towards centralized casinos, that's perfectly fine.

I understand your concerns regarding AML, and minors playing, I'm yet to come across on-chain casino that's regulated. I do not exclude cons of decentralized casinos, everything has it's pros and cons — you outweigh these two individually and do what suits you best.

Appeared England gave up the chase just looking at the score. They have huge names in their team yet none performed well.

Today, South Africa proved that they are a strong team as they have reached the semi-finals in many World Cup tournaments but have not been able to play the final. The way they started this time or the way they are playing well, it seems that they deserve to play in the final.

Would you say same statement with their previous performance against Netherlands?

p.s. Irrelevant question, what does WODL mean in your name?
