1761  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can new miners still make good profit? on: March 10, 2023, 11:33:36 AM
Of course they can: Provided they have VERY cheap electrical power. For the most part that rules out any home miners because residential service rates are typically 2-3x higher than commercial & industrial rates are. Even the commercial/industrial rates vary widely among the various states and countries.
I have inexpensive electricity 5 cents, but I have no great desire to buy ASICs. Mining in private homes will be prohibited. Mining is still banned in private homes, but there is no control if you do not consume a lot of electricity. The equipment is expensive and if a private house is checked, ASICs will be confiscated, and these are big risks.
1762  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Technology to aid bitcoin mining on: March 10, 2023, 11:28:27 AM
Bitcoin mining consumes power supply but the numbers of Bitcoin miners and other cryptocurrency miners continues to increase. Is it possible for the invention of a technology that will aid mining and reduce energy consumption?
Bitcoin mining will develop if it is profitable. For mining, new modern nuclear power plants or other power generation stations will be built, but the price of electricity will also constantly rise. And mining will have to be concentrated in those countries where there will be opportunities to produce cheaper electricity.
1763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: TP-Link ASIC is not TP-Link on: March 09, 2023, 11:54:56 AM
Any miner knows that you need to buy ASICs from certified sellers with a reputation and it is better to wait for a video review for miners. Even if a new ASIC appears on the market, there are always many questions about its reliability and maintenance.
1764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Where I can buy Antminer E9 PRO? on: March 09, 2023, 11:47:55 AM

I used to do mining on video cards. I really want to continue mining, now on ASIC under ETC. It is impossible to buy on the official website. Where can I really buy e9 pro safely in China or America up to $3500?
If you visit China, then a lot of ASICs are sold at retail in shopping centers in Shenzhen. Delivery to my country costs 2 dollars per kilogram of weight and I also need to pay a customs duty of 15% of the cost of the equipment.
But it is better to search first in local groups for miners.
1765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: REBTECH 8 GPU All-in-One Mining motherboard on: March 09, 2023, 11:40:51 AM
If you are a beginner, I would advise you to study a simpler and more inexpensive solution and you will not break this motherboard by incorrectly connecting the riser in the pci-e x1 connector
https://aliexpress.ru/popular/b75-motherboard-mining.html
at $80 this is the perfect beginner kit for 12 GPU,and this motherboard has no problems with bios settings.

The REBTECH is simpler, it doesn't have PCIe_x1 slots, it uses USB connectors instead. There's no need for those flimsy PCIe adapter tabs.
I'd recommend a board that uses USB connectors for PCIe for a dedicated GPU mining rig, but one that can also accomodate a decent CPU for a hybrid rig.

On the other hand I wouldn't recommend a mining board for a newbie, I'd recommend a regular board with lots (up to 6) of PCIe slots. The newer boards
have fewer PCIe and more m.2 so I'd look for an m.2 to 4x PCIe adapter to support more GPUs if necessary.

If you lose interest in mining you can repurpose a regular motherboard. You can't do that with a dedicated mining board.
The b75 motherboard does not have PCIe x1 slots, they use 12 USB ports. On new motherboards, there are problems with the settings for running 6 GPUs at the same time, and newcomers have a lot of problems with this. Regular PC MOBOs with lots (up to 6) of PCIe slots are expensive. So I wrote a proven and inexpensive solution.
1766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.64: Fastest Kaspa miner in market on: March 09, 2023, 11:35:37 AM
Hi to everybody. I am trying LolMiner with four AMD 580 Sapphire Nitro e one 1660 super

This is the command line I use to mine
lolMiner.exe --algo ETCHASH --pool eu1-etc.ethermine.org:4444 --user .............worker --cclk 1100,1100,1100,-500,1100 --mclk 2140,2140,2090,+1040,2100

I don't know why LolMiner starts mining without considering core clock and memory clock values written in the command line, and so if I launch Afterburner all GPUs are shown with default values for core and memory clock

Why does this happen? Can anybody help me to solve this issue?
Thanks

The instructions say that such settings depend on the version of the driver.
As an old miner, I don’t like software that changes memory clock on the fly, so I upgrade the bios for the ethash or ethcash algorithm. And I don't use Windows. Try hive os or another system. 1 mining farm is always free.
Thanks. Problem is that under Linux I was not able to load driver, so I couldn't use AMD GPUs. About Hive Os, I never was able to configure it, for this reason I run miner under Windows.
What do you mean when you say "I upgrade the bios for the ethash or ethcash algorithm"?
Thanks again
There are a lot of detailed guides on setting up Hive Os on the Internet.
memory clock you can change in two ways. The first way is with the help of programs like OverdriveNTool or settings in the miner, but this does not always work correctly. The second way is to modify the BIOS of the video card and set the necessary memory clock in the BIOS of the video card. But then for windows you need to use atikmdag-patcher. Hive OS does not need patches.

Incentivized Testnet Rewards Guide
The Iron Fish Incentivized Testnet is coming to an end. We've seen incredible participation and are so excited to take this next step with you.

First, some quick stats

In Phase 3, the network:

hosted 60,000+ concurrent nodes
processed 390k+ user-minted assets
Throughout the 3 testnet Phases:

142,000+ of you earned points on the leaderboard
You broke records, including 39,739,530 transactions in Phase 2 (all shielded using zero-knowledge proofs, making Iron Fish one of the largest processors of ZKPs ever)

https://www.ironfish.network/blog/2023/02/28/testnet-rewards

What good does it do bro... IronFish has officially announced at the AMA that it will not be listing coins for the next 24 months, no investments for investors and miners alike...
24 months is a very long time, but if you are an adventurer, you can mine some coins and wait for the price to rise. If you do not believe in this coin, then you should not mine it. The advantage of the algorithm is that it has a good hashrate on old video cards.
1768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: best overclock settings for 7900xtx (for etc+zil mining in ezil) on: March 08, 2023, 12:47:52 PM
Your video card is not the most popular among miners, but the initial settings can be found on this site.
https://hashrate.no/gpus/7900xtx/ETC
for zil mining these settings will be good because mining takes a very short time.
It is more profitable for your video card to mine каspa now, and the power consumption is lower
https://hashrate.no/gpus/7900xtx
And for accurate power consumption, I use a wattmeter. It costs approximately $10.

1772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can all currency be mined? on: March 08, 2023, 12:20:45 PM
It always depends on Consensus Mechanism the list above is Proof of Work.

There is a coin that can Mine crypto using another consensus mechanism like Proof of Stake you generally mine a new coin by producing a block when you find a new block. Like  DASH by Lock/stake some coins and you will add to the list of validator. and can earn money
If POS enables a form of mining, then why aren't we seeing other coins that use the POS consensus mechanism like BNB, Cardano, Solana in the minable coin lists?

Because staking for rewards is not mining in technical terms
POS is crap. I can assume that if a miner buys equipment in order to make his own node and receive a reward, this can be called mining.
But if you give your coins to another service that does all the work for you or then deceives you, then this is no longer mining.
1773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PC GPU shipments decreased on: March 08, 2023, 12:02:06 PM
I think Nvidia wanted to be the next Apple and Apple was the only one that could pull off selling overpriced hardware and get away with it.

They assumed that people would overpay for the brand and felt confident that their sales wouldn’t slow. But this clearly isn’t the case. It doesn’t make sense charging this much for mid to high end GPUs. I remember back in 2013-2014 the top GPU was the r9 290 and it retailed at like $400 which was higher than in the past but not a huge jump. Now the top GPU is basically quadruple that.

But Nvidia doesn't make most of the graphics cards. The GPU is produced by its partners who buy Nvidia video chips.
Then the company needs to change its policy and produce graphics cards on its own.
But I do not think that the company earns a lot from the sale of video chips
1774  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I am selling Antminer S 19 XP 134TH. What is more profitable ? on: March 08, 2023, 11:47:32 AM
Bitcoin mining has long ceased to be mining for beginners. Equipment is expensive, electricity is also expensive in many countries, and to make money on mining, you need to be a miner, with cheap electricity and be able to buy equipment at good prices. Large miners are constantly increasing their hashrate, so I would not waste time mining with several ASICs.

1776  Bitcoin / Mining / America's first nuclear-powered bitcoin mining farm on: March 08, 2023, 11:26:09 AM
TeraWulf (WULF) has begun operations at its Nautilus Cryptomine facility – the first nuclear-powered bitcoin mining facility in the U.S. – with nearly 8,000 mining rigs online representing computing power, or hashrate, of about 1.0 exahash per seond (EH/s).
The company expects to have about another 8,000 rigs energized in coming weeks, bringing capacity at the Pennsylvania-based Nautilus facility to 1.9 EH/s by May, according to a Monday press release.

https://github.com/rigelminer/rigel/releases/tag/1.3.8

I am in no hurry to install the latest versions of miners and read the opinions of testers at the beginning. In the new version, the hashrate has increased, but the power consumption has also increased with the same settings. Consider this moment.

Core developers set date for Goerli testnet deployment of March 14, but mainnet — and staked ether withdrawals — will have to wait until April
No firm date for the eventual mainnet hard fork has been set yet, but the downstream effects to the agreed timeline are likely to bump Shanghai’s final deployment to about a month afterwards, developers said.

A also have a lot of RX 470, RX 570, RX 5700, but I will not sell them now. Maybe when they are profitable again, the prices of these gpus will be a lot higher.
look at the ASIC Bitmain Antminer E9 Pro 3680 MH/s 2,200W
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5438028.0
Video cards RX 470, RX 570 will probably no longer be profitable, or they will bring very little income. I recently sold it for 80-110 dollars for 8 GB. RX 5700 is a more modern video card, I would not sell it.

well yeah, surely not for ethash, but cards can still be relevant for other algos. rvn, nexa and radiant have no asics so far as far as i know.
still, I would get rid of those rx 470s/570s. I would keep the 5700s though
Let's see the calculator
https://hashrate.no/gpus/570
With free electricity, you will earn $ 300 per month from 100 video cards, and you will spend 8-12 kilowatts per hour.
With such opportunities, it is better to sell the GPU and buy asics.

I came across this question earlier today by a friend so I decided to ask here
You cannot, but if you want to accumulate the coin you need, then you use the application for algorithmic mining, for example Nicehash or Kryptex. You will receive a reward in bitcoins and therefore buy the desired coin. If you have inexpensive electricity, then you can see the profit and payback in the calculator   https://hashrate.no/
