181  Other / Meta / Re: theymos/Cyrus @Bitcointalk twitter account on: July 16, 2020, 05:51:25 PM
Over the past week or two I've been seeing these double your bitcoin scam adverts before youtube videos. Elon Musk, Vitalik Buterin, the CEO of Sony and a couple of others have all been used to try get people to send bitcoins.
Let's look at it in another direction, only an avaricious person would fall for this scam. Anyone who is familiar with Bitcoin in the age and own a Bitcoin wallet should first know that doubling Bitcoin is a joke.

Even if a famous person wants to give out Bitcoin, they will only ask for their wallet address and not send theirs.

The hacking is just plain and simple common sense would have tell anyone that it's fake.
182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lessons from the Past: When bitcoin's price stabilised on: July 16, 2020, 06:55:54 AM
When they say it's boring, then it's because they aren't making money from it. Some so called investors or speculator just loves the ups and down revolving around Bitcoin. Cause indirectly they are making money from it.

Unfortunately those who will believe whatever they say are new investors who are just overly excited about the whole thing. Cause they need something to hold on that shows they are walking in the right direction, they believe the so called speculators.
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One mistake and l have lost all bitcoin on: July 13, 2020, 10:59:44 AM
The moral of the lesson is to never completely believe anyone when it comes to investing. You have to do your personal research, consider the possible loss or gain before putting in your money. the Youtuber whom you followed his footstep might have gained from it, however somethings that favors one person may not favour the other.

Moreover, investment is all about taking risks.
184  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Currency Value Falls During Recession? on: June 10, 2020, 07:21:17 PM
It can depends how hard the recession hits the economy. It could cause a decrease or cause an increase when there is also a scanty of it.
But most times whenever the value increases, this is mostly inflated by the government. This is mostly profit oriented. Especially when the currency has a worldwide recongination.
185  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CORONAVIRUS IMPACT ON SPORTS GAMBLING on: April 20, 2020, 07:45:28 AM
For gamblers who depend solely on sport gambling, I guess this is the right time to take that "long" break from gambling.

It won't be a good idea shifting to online casino games if they are lockdown. This is when addiction will be at it peak especially for players who are not familiar with casino games.
186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google has removed 49 cryptocurrency wallet browser extensions! Good move? on: April 16, 2020, 11:50:40 AM
Of course it's a good move... Roll Eyes

Just because it's a "Google Chrome extension" does not mean it's safe. Same with those who download crypto wallets from the Google Play store and believe they are "completely" safe because they believe Google has pulled out the harmful apps and sites.

Nothing on the web is safe! once you are connected to the internet, you become vulnerable.
187  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Halving 2020 and Altcoins on: April 15, 2020, 01:34:09 PM
In as much as many have speculated that this halving will pump the price of bitcoin, don't have too much expectation.
Too much expectation have led most cryptocurrency enthusiast into desperation of even borrowing to invest in Bitcoin. Expect the best but at the same time expect the worst.

As for altcoins, I don't think the halving will make much impact if the halving positively affect Bitcoin.
188  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING]: MALICIOUS JAXX.IO in CHROME Webstore on: April 07, 2020, 11:53:24 AM
Whether you are a newbie or a long term bitcoin enthusiast or user. I wouldn't even suggest anyone to use Jaxx.io wallet to collect or store bitcoin temporarily. There are hundreds of reputable wallets out there that are supportive for users in different countries and even noob-friendly.

Since it experienced a major hack in late 2017, it hasn't been the same. Personally, i feel it has low management from its developer, which is the reason why it is always vulnerable to hacking and phishing.
189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi never used bitcointalk: Craig Wrigth on: April 03, 2020, 05:03:57 PM
How about we stop giving him cheap publicity here Undecided Bitcoin enthusiast should learn to start ignoring him.
The guy is always looking for means to always to trend, reason why he is up in the game of formulating stories Roll Eyes
190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cost of making gambling casino? on: April 03, 2020, 04:25:38 PM
Personally, I don't think there is any specific amount to have when setting up a gambling casino site, as it depends on the structure you have in mind or platform willingly to offer.
If you intend to setup a low quality casino gambling site, it will cost less. However, if its the opposite then it will cost more. I think this paramount.
191  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think? on: April 02, 2020, 06:47:43 AM
I feel the price of bitcoin dipping is as  a result of panic from investors who believe the pandemic will affect it. It's in people's nature to panic for no reason. The panic buying of tissue paper is a good example  Grin

Moreover, the price of Bitcoin is not the only 'product' or investment that went on a slump since the virus started. Some businesses have noticed an improvement, while for others, it is the opposite. There are also changes in the stock market; some stock investors notice an increase while it the opposite for some.

192  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin was never meant to be a hedge against a Global Pandemic on: March 17, 2020, 08:36:42 AM
People usually elaborate minor issues and create unnecessary panic when there is none. With all that is going on, I'm not surprised to see the price of Bitcoin go this way. And with it recent price, I still believe it's doing good. I was actually thinking the price will go below what we have now.

Nevertheless, I believe the price will soon rise again but then, many won't be able to purchase it then.
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's price, and mental health. on: March 13, 2020, 11:58:56 PM
Undoubtedly, a lot of negative things have been happening lately and the price dump of Bitcoin just made it worst for some people.
It's just a reminder that life is not a bed of roses and shit suddenly happens. But at the same time, its a phase and won't last long.

Most especially, we hope that many of us used the  popular advise on this forum of "never 100% depend on Bitcoin as daily income" and "never borrow to invest on Bitcoin". They are not just mere words.

Nevertheless, hold your coin, don't rush sell, the phase will be over soon.
194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to protect bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies from hackers. on: March 08, 2020, 12:40:40 PM
I feel like if you dwell on it too much, it tends to happen. Don't be too paranoid about having your Bitcoin getting stolen. Just practice the required measures of not clicking on unknown links or downloading any unknown software on your PC and using the right hardware.

Bitcoin is money, and everyday, hackers are trying to steal them like they do to the normal currency. There is no way you can completely have and use them offline; its transaction is online.

Or, better still, perform your bitcoin transaction on a PC that you rarely go online with or use daily.
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does Regulation really means? on: February 20, 2020, 08:00:30 AM
I think it depends on how each countries want to practice their own cryptocurrency regulations. Some might even go as far to collecting identity of the user and buyer. This is why some cryptocurrency users don't like the idea of regulation. Thus, regulations can come in different ways, yet, it's still beneficially and protects every crypto users.

Moreover, crypto transactions can be tracked, in cases of hacks and scams. It just takes time and lots of work. Here an article that explains better: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.technologyreview.com/s/610807/sitting-with-the-cyber-sleuths-who-track-cryptocurrency-criminals/amp/
196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is better than your bank! on: February 14, 2020, 11:41:33 PM
talking about storing our money?yes Bitcoin is much better than Banks because the volatility in totality are our chance to Make our money more bigger than what banks can offers us.
giving 2-5% annual profit?when in crypto if we are lucky to buy in cheaper value?in just a year or 2 we can double, triple or much more our investments, same policy in bank that we need to wait right?so yes Bitcoin is much better than Banks.

thanks for the Link mate yeah it is worth sharing.

We are forgetting something here. The creation of Bitcoin was not to replace bank nor to buy and hold it for increased profit. It was to bridge the less autonomy the bank gives. At least those who held Bitcoin when it first emerge stored Bitcoin for this purpose. It however happens to increase as you hold.
I'm not saying that Bitcoin is much better than the bank or the the other way round. I think each has their own benefits that when merged together may bring out the best in them.
Also, let's try to use and see Bitcoin  for it true purpose as it is gradually shifting from it.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Project's website is asking private keys of the holders. on: February 14, 2020, 09:19:02 PM
I am guessing this is the new scamming method of stealing people's funds directly from their wallet.
They set up a SHITTY ICO and give out thousands of fake estimated tokens, which investors believe will worth much in the future. Only to steal something bigger from you. Tricks only new crypto investors will easily fall into.

I am long done with anything ICO till I see a renowned but this type of scam piss me off! Those who invest in it should start calling them out! People need to know what they doing.
198  Economy / Economics / Re: Bakkt is done? on: February 14, 2020, 07:50:34 PM
With the way it is now, I guess those who kinda gained from Bakkt are those who set it up.

They set it up to make a profit. That is sow it is in business. If they would not see a profit they would never bother starting it. They are not a charity organisation that helps poor bitcoin holders.
I understand that, no one is asking them to run a charity organisation. Its just too bad that almost every innovation in line with Bitcoin will be more profit oriented than goal oriented.
Well, let's hope it will have more significant impact on Bitcoin in the future than it is presently.
199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: After losing did you feel you must return the soonest to win back your losses? on: February 14, 2020, 04:28:53 PM
I can boastfully say I have passed and survived this stage. At the initial stage it wasn't easy. Then, when I loss, I would always play continuously thinking that I can win back my lost.
Unfortunately, I would end up losing more money and even important money I have budgeted. Now, when I play and lost, I deal with it. Knowing that everyday can't be the day for wining.
I guess every beginner gamblers past through this stage.
200  Economy / Economics / Re: Bakkt is done? on: February 14, 2020, 03:00:41 PM
This Bakkt scenario is the same reason I am personally skeptical of the upcoming Bitcoin halving. So many people have extra high hopes that Bakkt will be the game changer for Bitcoin. And also skyrock the price but instead the opposite was totally the case.
With the way it is now, I guess those who kinda gained from Bakkt are those who set it up.
We probably always overhype events in the cryptocurrency industry.
